Extremely polished and a ton of fun to play! One of the most intuitive game jam games I've played so far. Good job!

Extremely polished and a ton of fun to play! One of the most intuitive game jam games I've played so far. Good job!
A really neat idea! Intuitive and fun! I don't know if it's just me, but I didn't hear any audio though, it would really make it pop. I also found the glow effects quite overwhelming.
Great idea for a game, really satisfying to play!
The controls and gameplay take some getting used to, but the art and music are pleasant. Nice little platformer!
Well balanced and pretty addictive!
Great visuals and aesthetics!
A bit short but a real fun idea!
Incredible art and sound design! The gameplay was a bit confusing at first though.
Took a while to understand but it's a clever little game! Very cute art, too!
GG, quite an interesting idea and satisfying to play! A bit confusing to play on a keyboard, though.
@poutine-studio Sorry to hear that! It's an issue with Godot exports not working properly on the web without special features enabled, which LD doesn't seem to support. As for the itch issue, we're not sure what could be wrong but we'll try looking into it, thank you!
Cute, fun and relaxing!
Great art and an interesting mechanic!
This game fills me with endless joy, incredible work! Thanks for including a web build post-launch!
Looks great, very immersive. Love the idea of playing a pixel detective!
It looks great and it's a very interesting concept! However, as others said, I got a bit lost on what to do :( A tutorial or a written explanation would help a lot!
Simple and satisfying!
The quality of this game is mindblowing! I love the dynamic soundtrack a lot too, it really adds a lot. I've had a ton of fun with this!
A neat little platformer with an interesting mechanic. At times it seemed like a bit of a puzzle game, maybe you should lean into that idea a little bit more? The graphics and audio are pretty cool, good job on that front!
Oh that's lovely; great, peaceful vibes! Impressive how easy it is to grasp without any explicit tutorial! It's a piece of art about pieces of art.
Cute art! Messing around with hundreds of physics objects is always fun!
A classic puzzle game with a completely new perspective! I love the addition of the story; it's simple, but the premise made me smile. I'd love a game like this but with more kinds of puzzles sprinkled in.
A wonderful little game. The premise is extremely funny! Pleasant graphics and nice background music. The Doombas felt actually terrifying at times. One of the best I've played on this jam, incredible work!
The audio design is splendid, very relaxing! Great job on all the different creatures you managed to add as well. The game sort of reminds me of that one barista flash game everyone played at some point.
What a wacky concept! Love the graphics!
Admittedly, it took me embarasssingly long to figure out how the gameplay works, but it's a neat puzzle game afterwards!
The controls are fun, it reminds me of classics like QWOP and Octodad! The sound effects are really satisfying too.
A simple concept but executed with tons of polish! Makes you think too.
I love the vibes and physicality of the whole environment!
@goodwincek Wow, thank you for making a gameplay video! What killed you was that a wasp (which admittedly has some visibility problems) destroyed your hive.
In general, our biggest issue seems to be visibility of game elements; we could work on that in the future.
@cliff-coffee Fair enough, we wanted to work a little more on it to make it a bit clearer, but we ran out of time. Glad you got into the game eventually!
@misaravensoul Making the UI more useful is definitely something we'll be tackling for the post-jam update, thanks for the feedback!
@menacingmecha Thanks for playing! The wasp enemy type doesn't have outlines (due to the outline shader dying on us just before the deadline) and blends into the background. That's what causes damage to the hive.
Hello everyone! We just pushed out the 1.1 post-jam version, at last! You can check it out on [itch.io](https://zedgame.itch.io/nectarmancer) and read our blog post about the update [here](https://zedgame.itch.io/nectarmancer/devlog/915261/11-post-jam-update).
Enjoy!
@teddyreid it's been a long time lol, but you asked me on stream to ping you once the update's out; enjoy!
Took a while to get used to the gameplay but I eventually genuinely fell in love with the concept! This truly does feel like doing martial arts on a keyboard, and the game looks like a great tool to practice touch typing!
Wasn't immediatelly obvious what to do (I could really use a tutorial on how the "landmarks" work), but once I figured out what was happening, I loved every minute of it! I've never seen such a gameplay concept before. Watching the ants go after you've figured out the path is really satisfying and the tunnel digging mechanic adds a lot of depth. I'd love to play more of this!
The game is real fun after grasping its mechanics! In my opinion the tutorial should be mandatory so that players don't lose out on vital information! I dig the artstyle and overall vibe of the environments and enemies. As others said, it might need a bit of polish regarding physics and feedback for things happening, but it's a solid base for something great!
Admittedly, I haven't beat the game and I think it could use some handholding, but the concept is incredible! I'd love to see this expanded upon.
Simple but very fun!
A fun and competent platformer with interesting mechanics, well done!
Looks promising but could use a tutorial, I had no idea how the build system works :(
While brutal at first, it quickly becomes satisfying, nice work!
A fantastic little game, story focus is something you don't often see on gamejams. Beautiful art as well!
It's a really neat idea, but I think there should be punishment for setting the platform too high, as others have said.
Aiming can feel a little unwieldly and it took me a bit to figure out what to do in the beginning, but the game has a neat gameplay loop. It's satisfing to play in the same way Terraria is.
It's very trial-and-error-y, not that it's a bad thing, I think it works for this kind of game! Great visuals and atmosphere. Would really appreciate dedicated aiming controls and perhaps a health bar?
Fun to play but I suffered from skill issue lol. Unfortunately, on the web version, the first time drift particles appear causes a ~20 second lag spike which was pretty annoying :(
@sparrowson No worries btw, it's a common Godot issue haha. What you're apparently supposed to do is "preload" the particles at game start by displaying them anywhere for at least a frame at the beginning of the game.
@keith-wang The text on the right shows you the order you need to mine the blocks in to dig holes that are 2 blocks deep. In short: you need to dig in an inverted pyramid-like shape, layer by layer - make a 2-long hole first (without entering it), then fall in and you have made enough space for yourself to make the hole deeper. Hope this helps! godot.windows.opt.tools.64_KcUOJMU9rU.gif
@keith-wang It's a weird issue we couldn't catch in time before release, real sorry about that! Despite it, all levels are most certainly beatable. I hope you had fun anyway!
Thanks for the feedback so far everyone! We agree, checkpoints and/or an undo mechanic would be terrific, but we couldn't reasonably finish those in time, that's why we chose to omit them. They're definitely up there on the list of things we want to do when we get around to expanding the game though!
@aurel300 Lode Runnner, that's the name! We were inspired by what we knew was a clone of an old game, but couldn't find the original - thank you!
All your concerns are valid and we agree, we just didn't have a lot of time this Jam lol.
As for the puzzle, here's a walkthrough of the two tricky bits if you're wondering: godot.windows.opt.tools.64_Crt2wsigLg.gif godot.windows.opt.tools.64_CztNp1s1CI.gif
I appreciate the in-depth explanations of game mechanics! The gameplay is pretty satisfying despite being only interface based. Great job!
A fantastic platformer with good mechanics! One thing that tripped me up is I'd feel better if I was able to keep holding shift while jumping off ropes, right now it pulls you back instantly. Also, judging by the controls hints I can tell you have an AZERTY keyboard :)) That confused a fellow QWERTY user like me for a moment.
Wonderful art direction and relaxing to play! I appreciate the tutorial but would love more explanations about the items you can use.
A nice little risk-reward gameplay loop! It's a neat concept that would work really well once expanded.
A beautiful game with a great message.
I was a little sad to only see one level, but it's a neat concept nonetheless!
Big fan of the voiceover! Made the game that much more special.
Really fun game - I love the sound effects too, haha
I really like the gameplay and the way the cursor rotates! I wish walls stopped you though, it would've made mouse navigation more intriguing.
I'm a sucker for fake operating systems in games, haha. The game looks clean and responsive, with some great worldbuilding!
Beautiful art and character design! I kept on trying to find a way to go a little faster though, is there one?
Beautiful audio + visuals and satisfying gameplay!
I love the atmosphere and audio design! Really well done.
@local-minimum Thank you so much for the in-depth review! Admittedly, this wasn't one of our best jam submissions - the scope ended up being too big to fit into the timeframe, so we had to make major compromises and quickly throw together pieces of gameplay to produce something that's at least playable.
Originally, you were supposed to get loot from rooms, like a typical roguelike, and keepings things organised while arranged for optimal synergies was the general idea. Your backpack-attack idea sounds really fun too, though!
Some notes: - The backpack, as you probably figured, wasn't originally supposed to have infinite items :P And being able to rearrange items without clearing anything is something we wanted to add but ran out of time. - The rooms go on forever, randomly picking one when going through a new door, while they should probably have more thoughtful design. - The arrows when attached to a bow give you the ability to shoot - they should disappear after use (because they only work once), making you have to replenish them and manually "reload" your bow. Unfortunately, they stick around being useless and a little confusing. - The recorder is another type of weapon, and electricity, like batteries and phones, is what gives it charge.
Thanks again for giving the game a fair go regardless of the issues, much appreciated!
I really like the concept. The visuals are very memorable and stylish - excellent job!
That's so fun! I kept laughing my butt off at the whispering furniture and appreciated the dialogues and bit of poetry. The graphics are funny and shockingly descriptive :) It's a delightful experience that I'll definitely share with some of my friends, lol.
Heads up: I believe your game page is set to private? I can't view it.
This is a really good entry! It has interesting puzzle mechanics and a lot of polish. If you told me it was a fully-featured game from the DOS era I would have totally believed you. My one gripe with it is that as an arrow keys user, I had to put my hands in an awkward position to play haha.
Quite a quirky and fascinating experience! Is there a way to clear the scene?
It's actually pretty tough! I love the general vibe of the game though.
Oh this is fantastic! Great visuals and background music. Satisfying automation gameplay. I could see myself playing something like this for longer if it had progression saving.
I like the gameplay loop, it really does get tricky after a while! The graphics are well made too, they give me vibes of games from the ~2010s - a nice blast from the past.
I like the visuals a lot, you can feel the passion radiating from every sprite! Though, I think the overall gameplay loop would need some more variety to keep players engaged for longer. Fishing perhaps?
I like the concept a lot! But as the others have mentioned, signals sometimes don't propagate and you have to restart.
Haha, your game instantly grabbed my attention as we went in a similar direction. I like your approach as well though, it feels focused and very polished! The game also excels in worldbuilding and the general vibes.
Essentially a clicker, but with extra stakes! Very cool!
I love it! The controls are instantly intuitive and explained well with the tutorial, and the game is both fun and hectic. Self made voiceover is something I always enjoy in LD games too!
Aiming felt a little unwieldly, but I enjoyed the concept! I liked the thrill of blindly navigating an area and waiting for foreign signals.
I love the audio and visuals, brings back memories of java mobile phone games!
That's such a neat concept! I like the risk involved when there's a piece to grab just a liitle outside your range - should I go for it full speed or will it be the end of me?
I like the visuals and audio design a lot!
What an uncomfortable experience... in a good way, great job at building the atmosphere!
There's a lot of various paths to take, it reminds me of the Stanley Parable in that way.
I love the way the environment looks!
I like the atmosphere and sound design!
@local-minimum
Thanks so much for the in depth review and playthrough, it was a highlight of our day! Some notes regarding your feedback:
- For the subject of the story, fair point, to be fair we prioritized variety and easter eggs over having completely coherent worldbuilding. - As others have also said, perhaps the objectives could be opened from the get go for clarity. To clarify, we didn't have the time for a fully branching chat system, so the admin always sounds doubtful before the final response. - We're working on leaving some worldbuilding hints here and there to make the chat less of a guesswork. - The router game needs more visual feedback to make it clearer what you're supposed to do. And there perhaps were some bugs that need to be squashed. - Getpass in the terminal is a dummy command that does nothing - it's a play on the idea that having a command that reveals your password would be ridiculous. But perhaps it just ended up adding to the confusion? Passcrk could also use a progress indicator I suppose. And the unlocking of the terminal should actually unlock more stuff to make sense as to why you would do it. - Sorry for your experience with the packet clicker! You're right about the accessibility. We should have included an option for upgrades and passive income to turn it more into an idler to run in the background. We'll work on it for a post jam version definitely. - Unfortunately, while you werer typing the passwords into the admin login screen, the text input unfocused at some point, making you think all of them didn't work. Rest assured, one of them was the correct one.
Thanks again for playing and the kind, but honest when needed, feedback!
@dzejpi
Thanks for the kind words and good feedback! As for the "1000 characters", we're implementing it asap, lmao.
Took a while to understand, but it was really satisfying oncce I got into the rythm! I really enjoyed the sound design as well. One issue I encountered is massive lag spikes at the beginning, I'm pretty sure that's a Godot classic on web exports. For future reference, to avoid those big spikes interrupting gameplay, you should show each particle type at least once (for a frame or so) while initializing the game to force them to load in advance.
I enjoyed the unique take on the classic farming game loop! Having a goal to always work towards motivated me to invest more time into the game that I normally would have with usual games of the genre.
Impressive graphics and sounds! I also wasn't expecting what's essentially tank controls in 2026, lol - not that it's a bad thing :P
I love the art and music! I found the gameplay really tricky, but liked the concept.
Good job with the tutorial as well, I instantly knew what to do!
Restarts: 50, Time: 5:16:39
I really enjoyed the unique mechanic! Though I found the difficulty curve a little steep..
The game overall is really good, satisfying sound design as well!
I liked it a lot. The gameplay loop is interesting and the sounds and graphics look great! One thing I'd change is the movement speed - making it quicker would allow for faster trial and error.
Great game with a fantastic atmosphere! I really felt the rush of a battery dying on you outside! To Bartolomeo, would you kindly get to the point already?! That was a fun gag.
By the way, I've noticed you haven't rated a lot of games yet. In order to get other people to notice your game, you need to go out there and leave ratings and comments on others' creations! Then it will get boosted by the algorithm.
An interesting concept with a tough but satisfying gameplay loop! The voiceover really gives it a nice touch.
I didn't know what to expect from this concept but it really pleasantly surprised me! Though I didn't know how attacking worked at first - perhaps a streak effect while going would help explain the idea? And/or a corridor of unavoidable enemies.
The graphics are neat and the music is great!
I like the idea, but I had to restart a lot due to physics object getting stuck or falling off at times. The music is great and the puzzles are good though!
