That ending! haha
I do think the movement felt a little awkward, I imagine that is on purpose to make the navigation a little more difficult, but it felt a little bit frustrating to have to go left and then alll the way to the right to get another salvage.
I assume the reason is to make the game last a little longer and to help set the feel and pace so the ending has a more WOW factor. I think that's good, but maybe a little higher of a max speed, so moving from left to right for a long time you get up to a bit of a faster speed could be good.
But I really like the general game premise, and was a fun one!
@yubs thank you so much! I tried to make the submarine feel like it builds momentum under water but I 100% see what you are saying, thank you for the feedback!
I was so surprised when I reached the bottom haha. Very chill, relaxing game until then though!
@threegoldeneggs thanks a lot and thank you for taking the time!
I Really enjoyed this! The end was great. The movement was a bit awkward. Also the hitboxes, especially of the larger gray mines, could have been a bit more realistic. I died like 3 times from a mine when I wasn't visually touching it. I liked the hull integrity feature, though I feel like I could have just ignored it if I went fast enough. Overall though, really good!
@silliest-goose this means alot, thank you! Yes, I was trying to make something to feel like we are really moving under water but it looks like it needs more work. Ah, thanks for the colision feedback, I will go and double check! Hopefully it wasn't too frustrating! =)

I liked the game, it's clear what to do, controls work fine and the challenge is just right. Got the ending after my 3rd attempt (I was just exploring ways to die in this game 😅) and I think it's a lot of fun.
@woona thanks a lot for the feedback and I am glad you liked it! If you could change one thing about this game, what would you change? You are fine not to answer if you cannot think of anything, I appreciate the time you took to try out my game =)

Oh, I don't have any critique to be honest. 🙃 I wouldn't change anything, I would just add more stuff.

Nice tiny game. Very good feet the theme and I like audio. Keep going!

Nice idea, the theme is right for the abyss, a descent to the discovery of a crystal with the monster that follows you and you have to come back up from the depths. Very nice audio section, I would be curious to understand how many people manage to create all these audio effects. For the visual section I like the submarine, the mines and the obstacles, for the monster I don't know, maybe the fact that the tentacles don't have a black outline clashes a bit with the rest but the whole game is still nice. Good job 👍

A nice little risk-reward gameplay loop! It's a neat concept that would work really well once expanded.
Hi, great game! I really liked the plot twist after collecting the crystal.
The only thing, I would reduce the collider size for the bombs and make it more rounded. I often got stuck on the corner of a bomb where visually was nothing.
I nearly made it!! I'd update the controls a little if I was to suggest anything. The momentum is a good idea but it's a little strange that you're moving left and then start drifting in the opposite direction. I'd also make sure that all of the art is at the same resolution - I'm not sure I'd change anything else other than maybe having a dash maybe? Dunno, might ruin it but worth experimenting with it.
@playrea thank you so much! Glad you liked it and honestly this is giving me confidence to plan an update for this game at some point!
@franz267 thank you! For the audio effects I used freesounds.org, I did not create them myself but I did my best to pick only the sounds that fit the game. The tentacles having an outline is def a good idea and it will make them more prominent for sure!
@jscommander thank you so much and I am really gald you liked the twist! Yes, the colider size has been a consistent feedback so that will def be fixed first, I hope this did not cause too much frustration. Thanks a lot for playing anyway!
@the-stewarts thanks a lot for playing and glad you made it! Yes, the controls are not quire right, I tried to get something that resembles a submarine in real water but it did not quire hit the spot. The resolution comment is actually a really valid point as I used a mix between 32 and 64px sprites which I see now creates incosistency. Yeah, dash is a good idea, I think I will plan an updated version of this game at some point where I address all of the feedback. Thanks a lot for playing! <3
cool game! i didn't expect the monster after collecting the crystal
@igorekkedziorek thanks a lot and glad you liked the twist :) Is there anything I could have done better in your opinion?
Need smaller colliders for mines. Anaway good game, good job! 💖
@no-firing thanks a lot and for taking the time! Yeah, I think I went a bit overboard with the colliders here, I hope it wasn’t too frustrating!

Well done! Simple and yet so cool, I like the controls which simulate the difficulty to maneuver a submarine. Cute visual and sound atmosphere too. And...what an end!
Gradually making my way down, picking up a few crates. All is fine, oh look we're at the bottom--OH MY GOD! I didn't see that coming, that was a neat surprise! That said, I finished the game in one go, didn't hit any objectsm, so it felt like it could've been a little trickier. Time: 2:09, Salvage: 13.
One of my pet peeves is seeing pixel art scaled up to different multipliers, I can';t help but point it out every time I see it. Though The Stewarts already noted that as well.
Fun little game, nice work!
I love the ending! I was definitely panicking, but barely made it to the surface. Nicely done! Happy to see so many people using Godot this jam! Web GL builds are definitely a huge plus, makes it easy to quickly try the game. Thanks for that!

Well that was an ending!
Not a groundbreaking game, but a game none the less. Only issue I encountered was that the mine colliders seem bigger than they should be, but once I realized that it was easy enough to avoid. The pixel art looks good, only thing I'd want changed with it is just adding more variety, but thus is the nature of jams. A future version could have different types of floating debris moving in different patterns, hostile creatures stalking back and forth, etc. I couldn't figure out what the collectables were doing, if anything, but overall a nice little game.

Pretty good! I think the slowness of movement is the main thing I'd change personally. I also noticed the scaled spritework a few other people are mentioning. Would also have liked to see salvage tracked in the UI somehow. I picked up 2 or 3, realized they didn't seem to be doing anything for me, and then started ignoring them. If it was being tracked as a visible score or the like, I'd have focused on them more.
Nice to see another submarine idea and a different interpretation how to make a game from it. I like your pixel art--I wished my artistic ability is half as good as yours. My submarine pales in comparison. (It literally was just a fish)
Nice game! Took me a couple of tries to get back down after my first encounter with the deep sea monster even though the first half of the game feels pretty easy. Fun surprise at the bottom:) Good job!

Well that's unexpected xD This was enjoyable to dive into (pun intended)
@bleys glad you liked it, this means a lot, thank you :)
@flaterectomy thanks a lot and I am really glad you liked it, this being my first game ever means a lot! Also yes, this is really good feedback, what happened was that I left the art literally at the end and was scrambling at the end to make the assets but I def learned the importance of keeping things consistent! Thanks you for taking the time :)
@cameronpenner haha, yeah, I tried to make something simple yet a bit butt-clenching! Godot is absolutely brilliant to work with and I think it would be my primary enginer for the future, really liking it so far, it just enables me to put something that can be accessed quickly which helps a lot with people playing my game. Thank you for playing my game =)
@darkwolf thanks a lot and thank you for the feedback, it is really useful and hopefully it wasn't too frustrating to play! Yeah the collectables were supposed to be power ups and give you either speed or repair the hull, but ran out of time for that so it sorta remained like salvage, serving no real purpose and it was just easier to make it as a metric at the end but def understand where you are coming from. Thank you!
@mcovert yeah the slowness proved to be a bit of a problem, I aimed at trying to simulate what it would be a real submarine moving under water but missed the mark with it. The salvage issue is totally valid, it was supposed to be something else and I see it serves no real purpose. Really appreciate the feedback, this will help me make the right changes! Thank you :)
@ricesteam my pixel art skills are basic as they come and had to look at other online references and adjust that, I think you just need a little pracitce, in my case I think I have a total of 10 hours practice with pixel art. I wouldn't worry too much about the art, its the effort that counts. Thank you for playing my game =)
@jonasolsson really happy you liked it and thank you for taking the time to play my game, it does mean a lot :)
I played another game with a similar setup, but this one is much more fun, the movement of the sub is really satisfying!
@katastudios thanks a lot, that is very nice to hear! Also glad you liked the movement, there is still some work to be done to make it better but I am glad you found it satisfying =)

Simple and fun game! Sometimes I feel that surfacing up is a bit slower compared to when you swim down. But that did make it more intense trying not to die from the scary monster below. Great monster and great work on this!
@5huno-3 happy you liked the game, thanks a lot for taking the time :)
The pixel art is comforting. However, the challenge of the game could be improved. When I am defeated by a bomb, there is neither a recordable high score or depth, nor any items obtained, which makes the frustration of dying midway more pronounced. The ending animation under the sea is interesting.
Nice game! I love the pixel art too!! This game could be improved, for me the submarine moves a little bit slower when changing direction, but overall I like it! Good job!
@justuspan thanks a lot for the honest review and for taking the time to play the game, I agree with everything and cannot wait for the event to be over to add the updates after!
@planetary thanks a lot! Yes, the movement is not quite right, I think I was too ambitious with making it feel like it moves through real water, I hope it wasn’t too frustrating and thank you for your time to play my game and to give me feedback =)
Really cool game! It's a simple idea but executed really well I think. I really like your choice of audio, it adds a lot to the underwater atmosphere / ambiance. That constant "sonar" sound is also super relaxing :P
@swordguy47 thanks a lot and thank you for taking the time to play my game, really appiciate it =)
I like the art, it is well done. I was caught off guard by the kraken at the end lol. Most issues have already been said, so I'll just give suggestions. Probably torpedos from the crates and fishes to avoid or ram into or if you collect all the fishes they will help you ascend faster from the kraken.
@gamurmakesgems thank you for playing my game :) The torpedos I did consider but ran out of time lol, but the fish mechanic sounds interesting! I have planned a set of fixes and small improvements that I will add into a post-jam update and could try and sneak a feature or two from what people suggest. Thanks again for taking the time!
The game is a good start.
Since this if Godot 4.4 you should go into the key assignments and make WASD the same as the arrow keys. I a Valheim and WoW player and all my actions are with my left hand.
To Collect instead of the letter 'C' just a click on the object, see if you are close enough with a raycast and pick it up.
Its a great start, maybe just some fine tuning. I will say this yours is one of the few games that had a clear use of the theme,

I'm impressed with how much of a story and atmosphere you managed to create in such a short game. It was well crafted and very enjoyable to play. I found the difficulty perfectly tuned to give an exiting challenge but not feel to overwhelming.
The surprise at the bottom of the sea was great, I had no idea what was coming.
@beebster-games thanks a lot for the suggestions, that does make sense and I actually did not consider that! I basically had to justify why we need to get to the bottom and a crystal from space made perfect sense lol, also the monster then chasing would be an alien of sorts, just silly stuff like that. Also thank you for your time and for playing my game!
@vidarn glad you found it enjoyable and thank you for the kind words =)
I did not expect the boss at the end. I got spooked :O But cool game! :)

It's a short game but well executed. I wasn't expecting the mid-game surprise. It made me laugh a lot. I find the difficulty very well gauged.
Tell me it was you who made the monster scream!
@tosmaster haha, thanks a lot for your time, glad I managed to surprise you :)
@aune glad it made you laugh! Yes, I tried to make it a bit high stakes on the way up but not too much, glad you liked it. Haha, no it wasn't me sadly, it was an asset from freesounds.org. I did plan to do some of the sounds like the monster and the propeller sound myself but I came really unprepared for the sound work (just did not know where to begin with making custom sounds) and scrambled at the end to find something that works and this is a huge learning for me and will come a lot more prepared for the next jam

Cool game :D Got 1:36. My only feedback would be: since big mines are one-hit-kills their collision mask should be more precise, since right now you can die even being quite few pixels away. Anyway, good job! It was fun to play it.

Cool ending. A score could be a nice addition, to motivate the player to retry.
@zimny11 yeah I think I messed the colision big time and them being one shot as well, probably no the best combo lol! Hopefully it wasn't too frustrating and thank you so much for your time to play my game!
@mibi88 yeah, I had a planned system for the salvage to give more integrity or weapons but ran out of time to implement the system and just had to leave them as salvage boxes that really do not do anything, I understand why this was confusing. Thank you so much for playing my game!

Cute little game. Liked the idea of having to go back up afterwards. Loved the monster's design ! XD Nicely done :)
@agraffs thanks a lot for your time and for playing my game! The monster was a last minute drawing I did lol, had a totally different plan but I think it is fine as is I guess :)

Excellent game, nice graphics/color design and I really liked pace and integrity mechanics. At first I thought it's endless runner, and was gladly surprised. Probably would change colors of mines - those gray doesn't look scary, and on contrary others not very fatal. On a side note, orange don't spawn every time, not sure if that's some glitch, so may be I completed game easier than intended. scr.png Great idea with some potential, like make several levels each need to go deeper, or make them procedural, etc. Good luck.
It was fun, the boss surprised me! The hitbox on the mines suprised me too my first dive, but then I gave them a wide berth. firefox_bRvLJV6LID.png
@gdman thanks a lot for the feedback, this is very useful! Yes you are right, sometimes for some reason the red mines do not spawn, I am not sure exactly why because it happens fairly infrequently but I will fix this in the post-jam update :) Thank you for taking the time to play my game!
@static-leap-studios glad you liked it! Yeah, I messed the hitboxes on the mines, hopefully it wasn't too frustrating! Thanks for taking the time, appreciate it!

@angry-fridge Ok if I may, I looked at your source, and there is condition when player can press (C) and pick treasure, before crossing trigger line (which in source needed to be crossed from below - but player is above). So eventbus in not called, event not fired and spawner timer not started. Also, I think spawners keep firing every 2 seconds afterthat, so when you see mine moving, its actually pack of mines in one place and they're keep growing, so game can slowdown eventually, probably you wanted One shot timers. Have a nice day! debug.png
Nice game, I like the atmosphere you created with the sound and the subtle tilt of the sub when you move down. And the... effect of the special item... was sweet!
@gdman thanks for checking this out and no problem at all, I have left the code to be veiewed or forked if anyone needs it. Ah, it looks like the trigger should be a bit higher so the mines are triggered before the item is picked up and there is space between them. I think the should be a visibility notifier node that would destroy the nodes outside the screen to improve performance but I need to double check as I don't remember directly. Thanks for looking into this!
@sam-flemington thanks a lot and glad you liked it! Yeah I think the slight tilt was a nice touch, for platform-like games when going up or down it is not always visible so I thought a slight tilt might be a good idea.
