LD26 — Minimalism

LD26 Crimson Tide by Neurolabe 2013-04-29T05:32:00

Your web link just prompts me to install the Unity Webplayer, even though I've got it. I tried updating, but still just get the "Download Webplayer" prompt. Not sure what's up with that. The downloadable worked fine for me though.

Existential Journey Into The Abyss Of Self Actualization And Peace by MCovert 2013-04-29T05:34:00

After a lot of playing, the phasing blocks were a lot easier, and the only thing keeping us from going forever, so they were sort of a necessity. I do agree though, I wish we could have come up with something to handle them more elegantly.

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Air Pressure by zgragselus 2017-12-07T06:53:34Z

Enjoyed it! Reminiscent of Mini Metro. Wasn't sure if certain passengers had certain destinations or what; wasn't clear why some ports were apparently suffering more congestion.

A Boy and His Card by sorlok 2017-12-07T05:26:56Z

Really polished for the time frame! Wish there was a little more explanation - wasn't clear what the different attack types did until reading the comments after I'd given up. That explains why some guys exploded fast and others not so much! Also wish I knew what the stats did, but then again I'm a math geek.

Hunt Together by Gao Ming 2017-12-07T06:23:21Z

I suspect the adorable spider has caught me in a web of cuteness.

Grey Goo by kleinzach 2017-12-07T05:41:14Z

Worked pretty well. There's something about clickers that's just so compelling... There was a point towards the end where buildings #3 and 4 couldn't decide if they wanted to go up or down, which felt odd (why would they both automatically construct _and_ deconstruct the same thing?), but overall enjoyed it. Felt like the early game could be slowed down a bit - I'm a fast reader, and even so by the time I finished reading a headline I'd have a pile of stuff ready to spend way past the next milestone.

CalligraTree by Roaring Cat Games 2017-12-08T02:36:08Z

Great art style! I liked seeing the variety of trees such simple decisions produced.

Loot Drop by Snowdrama 2017-12-07T05:09:40Z

Quite enjoyed it - nice concept! I'd like a little more UI (what keys you have, what weight you're at), and possibly a way to pick up the cubes - I kicked a few off accidentally and had to restart levels over it, but I didn't experience any issues or anything playing through. Kicking a cube off by accident felt a little bit like getting cheated out of some time, though.

Critterâ„¢ Sitter by those-30-ninjas 2017-12-08T21:07:32Z

@jjjjason that's prettymuch how you play rock paper scissors - it's sort of designed to take longer or shorter just based on random chance, to mix up the routine a little bit.

Crimsonite by aman1822 2017-12-07T07:03:40Z

Really great style! Felt like I lost a lot of my life to enemies spawning in super close; maybe a minimum distance would help?

Fatigue Blade by Clayton Schuyler 2017-12-07T05:49:00Z

Nice work! I'd have liked a reason to conserve stamina as well to provide an interesting tradeoff, and the ending was a little abrupt/vague, but overall pretty good!

A comment I really appreciated getting on my first jam: careful with the noise level, and it can be nice to provide buttons to turn off and on sound/music if you've got time for it. The first swing was quite loud!

LD42 — Running out of space

SPACEFORCE! Funding Secured. by khaotom 2018-08-13T20:43:16Z

Barclay "Two-Saints" sent me! Nice, simple game; very straightforward and makes sense. Would have liked some quick text instructions at least - it was a while before I realized the "purple border" effect from being near a wall also gave x2 points - without that, I tended to stay in the middle + the game felt a lot slower.

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

It Must Be Fed by Move127 2018-12-03T03:41:00Z

Wasn't sure what was supposed to happen after killing someone/dumping the body - it mentioned one sacrifice a day, but I couldn't even tell if time was passing (it still seemed to be day 1 by the time I got bored).

RPG 9000 by azlen 2018-12-03T05:03:48Z

Theme implementation was cute, but I was just confused about whether there was anything I *could* do, right up until I died. I found a spider, though.

SMASHTEC by Matthew Roelle 2018-12-03T05:40:58Z

Wow; that's some nice polish! Simple, but nice!

Lava Luva by mcovert 2018-12-03T04:03:03Z

@relixes @ravarion Sorry - had some issues getting page changes to stick today! The cover photo took like 4 upload attempts. Link should be there now.

Lava Luva by mcovert 2018-12-03T04:20:16Z

@scarfdev there's no audio in the game - did you see the menu? I don't know of any red bar until the game starts proper - which sounds like the game itself loads but maybe not the level once you hit "play"? Any chance of a screenshot, or chrome console logs if you know how to provide those?

Lava Luva by mcovert 2018-12-03T04:41:08Z

@scarfdev very strange - you should see the level geometry itself there. I'm not sure what's wrong! I've added a windows download to the itch.io page if you want to try that instead.

The Happy Prince by Jisam 2018-12-03T04:53:41Z

I liked the momentum of the bird, but was unable to gain height even with a few tries to ever go up, so I couldn't get through the gap to the right.

The Happy Prince by Jisam 2018-12-03T05:31:45Z

Oh wow; not sure how I missed that! That makes a lot more sense; much nicer.

Downgrade by Vasco Freitas 2018-12-03T04:29:20Z

The dialog was really slow for me - though admittedly I'm a really fast reader. Would have liked a way to manually advance it faster.

Other than that, enjoyed it! The art's really nice, and the concept's interesting.

Audio was a little on the loud side.

You Get Two by justalocalhero 2018-12-03T03:50:30Z

Pretty interesting. I felt like I'd end up not getting one resource at all an entire run, and thus didn't have any "interesting decisions" to make after the first few rounds - just anything that didn't reduce that stat to 0 (for example, one run I never got any +blue stat)

Island by rgrem 2018-12-03T03:45:11Z

The art and menu look pretty clean and polished; it's a shame you weren't able to get further!

Blueberry Bounce by Ian Kettlewell 2018-12-03T05:19:30Z

I really liked the game! I could easily see it being polished a bit and made into a mobile title. Surprising amount of content for a jam game, too!

It doesn't feel terribly on theme, though, since the "sacrificing" doesn't seme to have much negative effect.

Whatever It Takes by SomewhatInfinite 2018-12-03T04:49:25Z

With so many buildings, it's easy to forget what everything does - a quick reference card might have been nice, or some text labels or something. Was pretty nice though - we almost made our game with a similar worker assignment flow, until we decided to drop people on things instead.

Tezcacoatl's Dance Dance Paradise by numeralien 2018-12-03T04:12:00Z

This looks so nice, and I love the beat! It's too bad I'm absolute trash at rhythm games :( Still, it was fun regardless.

Eskate Death by DougDevs 2018-12-03T05:29:25Z

*WENK*

Felt really bad hitting ramps and losing *all* my speed, but it was fun! Had 4 penguins left when I hit that ramp, though, and just couldn't get going again.

King's Last Stand by Pukami 2018-12-03T04:08:26Z

I was a little annoyed by the loss of mobility while attacking, but otherwise enjoyed it. It did feel like I was mostly stuck near the castle, though, and didn't have much reason to leave, other than visibility.

Stones by jihem 2018-12-03T05:49:25Z

Nice, fun simple puzzle game!

Typeless by Naihto 2018-12-03T04:00:24Z

Really good! An interesting thing to sacrifice!

My date doesn't have much going for her professionally, but at least it's a good hobby for her to have.

Flying Farmer by relixes 2018-12-03T04:19:04Z

nice game! Wasn't sure if the weight to break my own platform was consistent, since it seemed to vary between plays.

LD44 — Your life is currency

Inflate Me to the Moon by DDRKirbyISQ 2019-05-02T07:20:11Z

Adorable! I'm not sure why we don't use turtle-coins already; they look amazing. Would like to see some more variation in the rounds, and the intro was a little long, but overall a really solid entry!

Slime Life For Life by AL19890604 2019-05-02T07:59:57Z

pretty interesting! unique idea - would have liked to see a little more to encourage me to keep playing longer and break it up a bit (it got repetitive)

S.A.S.S. by mcovert 2019-05-02T06:06:00Z

@jackson-makes-games - there's a already button on the main menu to invert the Y controls if you want!

S.A.S.S. by mcovert 2019-05-02T07:21:07Z

@kaisean-games there is an option to invert Y steering on the main menu

Lifeforms In Space by Eric Smith 2019-05-02T06:39:11Z

Is there a way to make multiple fleets? One of my fleets got destroyed off the bat, and I was left only able to do one thing.

Also, enemy turn processing seemed to take a while, which unfortunately broke up the flow a lot, but even so the enemy didn't really seem to do anything?

Super Psychic by Jackson_makes_games 2019-05-02T06:47:31Z

I swung by to give this a try, but sadly don't have java setup. As for updates: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/rules - official rules, here's the relvant snippet:

Additional Notes for both the Jam and Compo

Both events have a Submission Hour that takes place at the end of each event (48, 72 hours later). This is an extra 1 hour for you to package-up and submit your game. In the case of the Compo: After that 1 hour, submissions for Compo will close, and you will have to submit your entry to the Jam.

Porting (especially to Web or Windows) can happen after the initial 48 hours. The longer you wait though, the less time participants will have to play your game.

Certain Bug Fixes are allowed. You can’t add new features, but if something broke or didn’t work correctly as you were finishing up, you can fix this after the deadline. You are asked to highlight the changes you make in your submission (a short change log). You probably wont get a 2nd chance with some players, but at least it wont be a problem for future players.

An American Blood Clot in Techno Athens by Shuu 2019-05-02T07:54:59Z

Pretty cool idea! I managed to break it - I think I hit the end goal right as I ran out of blood, and ended up immediately reappearing at full size, but also not leaving behind any blood or able to trigger the level complete.

Nine Lives by foxtrotluna 2019-05-02T07:13:27Z

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Liftman by gamechoy 2020-10-10T17:57:50Z

Man these have to be the worst elevator customers ever; won't even tell you where they want to go? Pretty interesting concept, but definitely got to a point where I'd clicked through all of the npc's dialog and had no idea where they were supposed to go.

Confined by Flaterectomy 2020-10-10T18:13:18Z

Interesting story; my math-brain would've liked the available power to matter a little more, but I recognize not everyone's as much of a math nerd.

a Damsel a Day by alec 2020-10-11T18:27:33Z

Really cute! Did wish there was a little bit more going on, got 'boring' after a few repetitive days, but the art was amazing enough to stick around a little longer.

Loop Frogs by GaryS 2020-10-10T19:02:28Z

Got stuck in one of the levels because several times in a row, the green frog wasn't matching the pattern I gave him like, at all. Not sure what # it was, but it was the level with three 'permanent' buttons (the second of which, you have to reset to get out of the room with it). I couldn't get the brown frog out of the first room because whenever I wasn't controlling green, green would fail to make the jump out of the room.

I was also slightly confused by the banner at first; I thought it was an extension of the gameplay window because they're so close. Maybe some slight space or a border would help separate them?

Really liked the theme/idea though, and it's very visually appealing.

It's The Leash I Can Do by hemlocksoames 2020-10-10T17:49:59Z

@erlioniel a restart button as in, to just reset the timer/game and start over? hadn't occurred to us, but definitely something i'll keep in mind for future jams

It's The Leash I Can Do by hemlocksoames 2020-10-11T18:16:48Z

@kuro timer should have been in the top HUD bar; interesting that you didn't see it. Any idea what aspect ratio you played at? Did you play at the default size or scale it up?

@erlioniel love the art added in that edit!

Loop-E-Mart by jvolonte 2020-10-10T17:43:24Z

Felt like the three actions quickly became too limiting for what the game wanted me to do. If I restock both milk and snacks, then perform a cashier action, half the time the people who are trying to buy chips don't get a chance to pay me. If I don't restock milk, I end up with a bunch of angry customers wanting milk, though I make better profit at the beginning of the day. If stock was big enough that it could persist between days it'd solve the problem, but I'm earning a total of like ~45$ over 4 days, which just feels frustrating given I needed to spend 10 on unlocking snacks and another 10 on unlocking cleaning - which, speaking of, I have no idea how I'm supposed to fit in the schedule.

Honestly if using the cash register actually let me get money from the 4+ dudes standing by it waiting, it'd have relieved a lot of the frustration, or if the starting stock values were high enough I could concieveably go a day without stocking them and creating a large customer backup.

Quit the Cycle by Oblivion Games 2020-10-10T18:42:57Z

The IDE was a little confusing; as a programmer I understand what it's supposed to represent but clicking it didn't feel like it was doing anything - the buttons flash, but otherwise don't indicate they've been 'completed'. Would have expected, both from an IDE and a game standpoint, them to become disabled once pressed. Beyond that, played through 3 days with no apparent changes; ended up quitting because the transition times are sort of painful to sit through.

A Duck in Time by lovetocode999 2020-10-10T20:52:57Z

Recoil was pretty interesting. First room where I found out the door was locked I had like 4 monsters almost on top of me when I found out, so that was kind of an annoying surprise - letting me know in earlier rooms would have helped - eg, have a loud 'unlock' sound when the last monster dies in each room, or have the last monster drop a key, with a key-in-lock sound for when I open the door. Parallax was also pretty noisy - I feel like if it had scrolled a lot less it'd have been way less distracting.

Hiccup Time by Somogy 2020-10-10T20:44:44Z

I liked the idea, but really was frustrated by the uncontrollable hiccup timer - felt like a lot of time just standing around waiting for the timer to sync up with what I wanted to do. Some (minor) control might have been more interesting - for example, holding a button to delay the start of the timer (with a maximum delay window so the mechanic's not totally ignorable), or perhaps pressing a button to start it right away

Jerry.IsDead by Natw 2020-10-10T18:50:56Z

Was super frustrating trying to operate on a moving timeline - would have really liked the game to pause or something between rounds, or let me manually pause.

Took like 5 tries to get it set up to dodge the first laser gate... and then it didn't successfully dodge it on later attempts, so I'm even more confused now.

Stuck in a Soup Loop by Doot 2020-10-11T18:33:05Z

That dude's excitement every time I serve soup - really helps me feel like a job well done.

Really clean entry!

Re:Live by Ciber_Turtle 2020-10-10T20:38:20Z

Really strange difficulty curve; most of the levels felt like 'just sit on all the buttons and press spacebar', then suddenly over a period of ~3 levels it jumped to me needing precise timing across multiple lives in order to manage it. Quit on 'uhhh....' after accidentally sitting on the button that would block my path at the wrong point in time several attempts in a row, requiring me to restart the level. Wish I could 'erase' a ghost, or at least not save a ghost for a particular life.

Liked the idea though, and generally pretty well put together.

Cycloop by Erlioniel 2020-10-10T18:20:32Z

Very nice! Loved the graphics, liked the logic-gate feel of the puzzles. Would have liked a little less 'dead space' between the puzzle sections.

Death Day by Nekopi 2020-10-10T18:34:44Z

Loved the art style! Ran into some collision issues; felt like I died to my own electrified pool a few times despite not feeling like I got that close to it. Otherwise, would have beaten it on the first day.

Please Just Leave by Noam Blei 2020-10-10T20:59:13Z

I seem to be zoomed in really close to the character. I can walk off the right side but nothing seems to happen. Not sure what I should be doing here?

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Sheeple by Jonathan Holm 2022-10-03T19:20:25Z

The embed broke for me, but worked after refreshing - seems finicky. The twist was great.

dragabee by mcovert 2022-10-04T16:40:05Z

@otterfaelure but dragging the bee to the button _is_ the tutorial! how sneaky! By requiring you to drag the bee, we guarantee you've understood that dragging bees is kind of the main interaction mechanism, even before you've had to think about stats or what the game is or how it plays.

Cursed Kingdom by Majadroid 2022-10-03T19:37:07Z

Pretty fun little game. Wasn't clear to me at first that tiles could only be used by one village, or that villages worked diagonally, until like level... 3? The one with the 8 space u-shaped forest.

Would really like hotkeys - even something as simple as just 1, 2, 3 to select village, watch tower, archer tower

NN7 Guardian by Erlioniel 2022-10-03T22:49:44Z

The embed doesn't fit the whole game window :/, but I played it via the itch link.

Interesting take, but not sure I understand the objective? Is there one, other than just survive? Jumped through a few systems but once I started losing fighters I just got into a death spiral where I couldn't produce enough fighters to actually survive a fight with incoming fighters, and so I would just have stuff picked off every jump.

Really nice art, gives me a homeworld vibe.

Snail Traffic Control by Smooches 2022-10-03T19:43:36Z

I seemed to have an issue with it not always letting me add arrows - I'd sit there for a few seconds trying to get an arrow on a tile only to have the snail eventually just hit the wall instead :(

Other than that great! Loved the voice of my tutorial buddy.

MineKeeper by flanne 2022-10-03T20:41:24Z

Controls felt a bit annoying to me, which is exacerbated when the game gives you a tight time limit, since it feels like you're struggling to get the game to do what you want. I lost my first run because I didn't realize I could climb walls. Dug myself into a hole and then realized too late I was stuck and couldn't escape. Even knowing that, my second run I'd often try to jump up 1 block and end up digging out the block I was trying to land on , which was fairly annoying and cost time Up top, while building towers, after building one tower you lose the ability to build more even if you have the cash. I'd have to press right click, which would send me down into the mine, then climb back up, in order to build more towers.

That said, it was pretty good aside from those rough bits. The art's pretty good and after getting over the "what's going on phase" it's not too difficult.

Soul of Seasons by shimmerscale 2022-10-03T21:07:21Z

My main complaint with the game is a failed platforming attempt usually means I have to sit around and wait for 30 seconds to try again. Might have been nice to come up with a way for multiple paths to each objective, per season - or maybe let the season fragments temporarily override the season (with some sort of cooldown)?

Otherwise liked the art and the idea.

Run, Slime, Run ! by Dahut 2022-10-03T20:47:47Z

That slime's adorable! Solid entry, felt polished. Only real complaint was there was a section in the middle of 3-4 spawners that felt like it didn't require me to do anything except run right and occasionally jump, that I made with like... ~6 seconds left on the timer each time? Felt out of place with the rest of the puzzles around them.

LD57 — Depths

Coin Grind by jester1454 2025-04-08T19:35:42Z

I was confused at first because the health and the enemy seem to share the same art? (a red box). I was thinking i was supposed to collect them and not sure why they seemed to be hurting me. Fun once I figured it out though!

Mush Rush by mcovert 2025-04-08T04:36:26Z

We'd like to hear what scores you've recieved! My highscore is 4124, but I've hard from a few friends they've been able to get as high as 7313!

Antz vs Plantz by Blue Pin Studio 2025-04-08T04:49:06Z

Enjoyed it until the end; the boss ants destroying my pegs felt sort of unfair, given there wasn't a lot I could do to stop them, given they were primarily going against the weak early defenses designed to aoe enemies instead of single target the things that get through.

Daniel Ratclick by paci 2025-04-07T20:43:09Z

Minor nitpick; with this style of idling/incremental game, it'd be nice if the game didn't pause when the window loses focus. Would also have liked if some of the upgrades didn't start so weak - there's a lot of growth as things level, but several of the perks are pretty weak at level 1 with really small values.

Other than that, it's pretty well made.

DUCKDEPF by Jona Scheidig 2025-04-08T04:55:27Z

Gives me vibes of the old star wars flight sim games; they had a 'training' mode where you flew down debris cluttered tunnels like this.

Enjoyed it a lot!

Deep Mech Salvage by bearcage 2025-04-08T05:12:22Z

The visual style is great!

Stars In The Deep by angry_fridge 2025-04-08T19:50:23Z

Pretty good! I think the slowness of movement is the main thing I'd change personally. I also noticed the scaled spritework a few other people are mentioning. Would also have liked to see salvage tracked in the UI somehow. I picked up 2 or 3, realized they didn't seem to be doing anything for me, and then started ignoring them. If it was being tracked as a visible score or the like, I'd have focused on them more.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Midnight Thief by Deadly Apps 2018-04-25T01:33:32Z

Of all the themes my team pitched, I can't believe we missed lemmings! It's an interesting theme combo.

Puzzle Dungeon by Crsrc 2018-04-24T04:24:08Z

Attractive art! Wanted to see more.

Par 99 by notnullnotvoid 2018-04-24T04:41:26Z

Really pretty; great feel to it. I got somewhat frustrated by the first timed gate, but persevered and got through. I couldn't figure out where to go after the curve ball though; it didn't seem to help with the down slope, and I still couldn't make it up the up slope. I figured I was supposed to curve around the void area by the up slope, but that side area didn't seem to lead anywhere.
