firstly the ants are very cute, second i love the noises the trees make thirdly tower defense is personally one of my favorite games and this one is simple but very fun still! the animation on the flowers is really good 10 wizard ants 10/10 design i failed the right tree's objective of not sucking but this was really fun!

I think this is easily one of my favorite games so far this jam :) I really like how you use the boss ants to destroy the nodes to end the run, it was a very clear marker that I'd "won", but felt like an accomplishment when I got past the first onslaught of giant ants. The only thing I didn't like is that it felt really slow in the beginning, and it took me an embarrassingly long time to realize you had to click the coins to collect them :face_palm:
Really great job overall, I had a lot of fun discovering all the plants and diving into the depths!

This was a really fun fusion of tower defense and pachinko! The sound effects and music were great, and it was really satisfying unlocking new depths and items. I pretty much lost control at level 6. Nice work!

i loved, i love this type of game, it is amazing
quite a fun game, the controls are not perfect though, maybe a lack of sign that you are about to erase your hard earned turret because a gold coin was too close to it and you were in the selection of a carrot :up: but I enjoyed it! those big dudes at level 10 crushed me :p
I like the combination of different genres to make something new! I failed miserably the first time, but you said that's ok. So tried again. Got pretty far. This guy wiped me out though... even though I killed him the flood after him was super tough.

I did find it hard to know what I could afford. I learned that there is a green sparkle effect on the square, but I was looking at my cursor for an indicator. Great entry!
Amazing game! I think this concept has a lot of potential.
Just one thing, I did accidentally replace a tower when I meant to click on a coin, and it seems like this didn't just happen to me. Not a big deal though.
Enjoyed it until the end; the boss ants destroying my pegs felt sort of unfair, given there wasn't a lot I could do to stop them, given they were primarily going against the weak early defenses designed to aoe enemies instead of single target the things that get through.
The game is kind and fun. I was sucked in for an hour, although the game itself was made in 3 days. everything brilliant is simple.
So clever to combine pachinko and tower defense! I thought I was doing pretty good but got destroyed on level 10. Unfortunately I was clicking to try to collect a coin and skipped right past the end game screen to check my score!
I made some pretty bad early game decisions because I thought the board was going to get cleared for the next level. Of course, revealing the earth below was much more thematic, but it would have been nice to be able to re-plant over top of existing nodes. I think in particular the area of effect plants would have done well near the top, instead of the 4 layers of sunflowers that I ended up with.

All elements are good. Great track of marching 🐜. Fun a challenging game that is still want to “break”. I’m taking time to write this message but after this i will dive back in. Oh and also fun art complementary to the squeaky sound effects. Overall great job 👏

This is the most fun game from this game jam I have tried so far. The combination of pachinko and tower defence works really well. The different tower types are well designed and the art is cute. The sound effects and music help set the mood well. Really impressive work for the short time you have for the jam. Can see some good potential to make this into a full game by adding more levels and maybe a touch of roguelike/roguelite as in the game Peglin. Really good job everyone!
this is such a fun and polished game, holy. sound design is cozy, new elements are introduced gradually, and it's just overall really really fun. would definitely love to see this being developed further. super innovative! amazing submission, honestly one of the best I've played

I wanted to not suck but failed. Very cute game with great take on the theme and seamless integration into tower defense. And to me, you captured the addictive formula of tower defense really well! All the plants are well-designed with some simple but satisfying synergies. Graphics and sound effects are cute and come together with the game nicely. My only suggestion is a small user experience thing, when I'm holding a plant and clicking on a dropped coin, if the coin happens to be on a vacant spot, I ended up placing the plant there, which is not necessarily what I wanted to do. Other than that I have no suggestions and will actually stop writing this review now and go back to play some more!antz.png
Wow, this game has a lot of personality! The upgrades felt quite nice, with the carrots feeling the most powerful. I died to a giant ant opening a large funnel for all the other enemies to fly though. Probably should have dipped more into the gold generation haha. Very good game, I was fully invested, and I like the cartoony feeling of the two tree characters too, it kind of reminded me of playing an old kids edutainment game in a certain way. Love it
Oh wow, it's sunflower's turn to do the attacking? I think this game is super cute and funny, the graphics of the trees and how they react is hilarious and this is a fun twist on PvZ!
One thing I did notice however - Although I think the tree on the right was hilarious, there were times where it was covering the stats on my screen. I never felt like I was in trouble, but I could totally see myself missing how much HP I have or other stats.

There are so many things I love about this, the overall vibe, the music slowing down with the giant ants at the end, the pikmin sounds, the way the music looped in a way that felt intentionally annoying as a joke but also ended up not actually being annoying? The plants were all unique and interesting, and I was eager to unlock them, and the difficulty progressed in a nice way. NICE JOB

Almost everything about this I love - the placement mechanism with synergies is very nice and it's very addicting to play :)
I think the pacing in the mid- to late-game is a little too fast - the big ants come in to wipe everything out before you're really able to mount a proper defense, and then they come too quickly to really ever recover.
If the blueberry thing was replaced with a similar one-time-use "explody" plant that allows you to regrow turret spots in the surrounding area from wherever they were planted, I think that could really make the late game feel better. When you're planting golden rod and trying to use the other exploding plants to kill the big boss ant, there's so many coins to click and bombs to detonate that just "slowing" the ants doesn't really feel all that satisfying.
For QoL, I think it'd be good to have a logic check to make sure the player isn't replacing a plant with the same type - money is hard to come by anyway and it's easy to accidentally misclick when so much is going on. It was also a bit frustrating when I strategically placed the exploding plants so I could quickly kill the boss ant, only for the boss to spawn and instantly kill that plant when the boss lands on it. If the plant at least exploded on death, it would be a nice improvement for how that plant works.
All in all, great jamming work. It's a good sign when someone wants to keep playing the game after the first few playthroughs :)

Nice. You totally made me happy with the sound volume settings. Not all people think about this core details. But nevertheless your game made me also happpy, cause it playes very polished and I like how inplemnted the level evolving. Nice mix from tower defense and Peggle. Good joB!

I also noticed that in at least in the HTML5 version, the ending text doesn't show properly. That's okay I don't need the grumpy tree trash talking me anyway!

excellent pressure dynamics and gold collection speed, you constantly need to perform actions, so there is no time to think about stopping the game!

Yaaay! Finally found someone using Construct! It's all Godot and Unity around here, but now there's a fellow Construct dev) I was starting to think I was the only one using it in this jam)
Super cool! There is space for strategic placement and new towers constantly appear, it was really fun to play! I got used to the ant annihilation system I built, it was painful to see those melon-sized ants wiping it all out together with the seed spots XD Great job, looks very polished and gameplay feels solid!

Quite well done! I liked that there were a nice variety of towers and that they gradually unlocked. I would have like to have a better indicator as to when the depth would increase, but maybe that's just part of the game. I also think that there was a good amount of strategy involved in where you place your towers as well. Only thing is that I personally didn't appreciate the curse word being permanently on the screen. Also, I didn't intuitively know these mechanics until after reading the description:
You can place Plantz on top of other plants to overwrite them! You can click on ants to damage them a little… You can click on coins to pick them up!

An interesting twist on tower defense with some good stuff here. I'll echo the other comments here that the pacing was a bit off. Everything was brain-off easy until around depth 7 or so where suddenly things were very much not lol. Managed to hold out till depth 10 though before the big ants destroyed so much of my stuff that I got flooded with the smaller ones. It would have been nice if there were pauses between waves per depth (or something along those lines) so I'd get a moment to read the new plants as they're unlocked. Even though the graphics are pretty simple, they're got a lot of character to them which is nice to see. Quite an enjoyable experience overall.
Oh wow, this was actually super nice! Very polished! I thought I found the ultimate strategy by planting garlics in the top row and blowing up the bosses before they could hit anything. That worked nicely... until it didn't. Maybe their HP increases over time? Or maybe I just missed my garlic explosions. Anyway, eventually one got through my line of garlic defense and all hell broke loose. :sweat_smile:
I also found out garlics and gold coins are not a nice combo. I blew up so many garlics accidentally trying to click those coins. :grinning:
Fantastic sound design, interesting visuals, and really well-balanced gameplay — super cool! I ended up losing when a big ant ate through part of my wall, and I had to just watch the flow of ants pour through the gap. It’d be great to have some kind of recovery option in that situation. All in all — amazing work!

That was unexpectedly fun. Simple, fun and very addicting. Good work. I found no issues. My score was 973. Maybe the difficulty spiked too high when I unlocked everything but it was still great fun.

This is insaneeeeeeeeely good for the time given ! I love the 2D plants vs zombies type of gameplay loop. Its fun, the different plants are well thought out, the art and sound-design is really nice, AAAAAAAND its fun, hehe (the last one is really what counts)
I think its safe to say that this is gonna be one of the highest rated games

Very well designed and fun game! I like the funny trees and the variety in enemy and plant designs that you featured! I managed to get to 983 points, however I feel like once the big ants come it becomes waaay to difficult very suddenly. Also, I felt like after a certain point the levels started being unlocked way faster than I could get money to fill them up with plants. I'm not sure if this is a balancing issue or a skill issue on my part, I'll leave that for you to decide XD

Love the dithering and chunky pixels. At first I thought it was pretty good but didn't quite get the idea of bosses and garlics. But then I figured it's just me and tried a second time. It's a really good twist! Too bad it always ends up in certain death since the destruction is unrecoverable. Really well done!

The visuals are clear and the graphics are fitting to this type of game. I was always curious, what the next upgrade would be and you implemented a ton of them into the game, cool! I like the little visual hints, when a flower is ready to be build. The boss ants are a nice end game mechanic and the opening screen is really stylish. The sound effects were cute and although you heard it nonstop, it did not annoy me any second. The music was fitting and I liked it. The theme of this Jam is clerly visible. Really good game overall. :)
