This is so funny hearing the narrator complaining xD
door opens and i can control the player, but what should be happening next?
Pretty cool! I liked the script and the singing. I think I found a few bugs:
-You can walk off screen to the left at the beginning before you're supposed to, and after the camera pans left you can walk off screen to the right. -I entered the door on the far left before the narrator finished a sentence and two voice lines overlapped.
This game is everything I ever wanted
I laughed.
This was a fun experience. A few little hitches and hiccups in the audio or animation, but nothing that really hurt the game for me. Thank you for the splash of humor!
This is neat idea fo the game. I think a lot of the jokes are pretty good. I wish you could do more things to interact with the narrator, but still its very intersting
Oh my gosh if this game doesn't win the humor section I will be very disappointed in my fellow gamers! Also I agree with @juansabadoperon, I was able to walk off to the left at the beginning and I don't think I was supposed to.
I loved the dialogue and animation of the character, this was such a nice experience :3
I've been Rickrolled!! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: I liked it! In my humble opinion, it's very important in game jams to throw out the ideas you can't implement on time and cobble together a complete experience out of what's left by the deadline. You did that perfectly, especially for your first jam. Good job!
This game took a very different approach from other games and I liked that. The narrator is hilarious to listen to! From all of the games I've played in the jam, this deserves the top spot for humor. It's a great experience that's unique from the other games. Very well done for your first jam!
Humorous. I like the narration. good job
Hilarious game, absolutely hilarious.
5 star in all!!!!! I loved your game!
This game wins the simplicity to enjoyment ratio contest. Even though the "only" thing you do in it was walk through a door, I played to the end and would have gladly played a few more "rounds". I really liked when the door broke and then we got to see a new door, it drew me back in just as I was about to quit because thought I had seen the whole game.
Really like how they open the door, it has a lot of character in the animation, definitely has the look of someone walking into somewhere and feeling awkward - great sound effect on it too.
Then when the narrator started talking and telling me what to do I knew I was in for a good time. A well realised concept, making a little go a long way, which is what good game design (and jam technique) is about! Thanks!
i got rickrolled twice in a day today thanks to this. Really funny the narrator
@neithr Hahahaha yeah! I loved to make these scripts. I have like 3 more google doc pages of narration that couldn't get to fit yet (for time reasons), buuut I will come with more dialogue after the Jam ends :D
@tero-pulkkinen you should keep entering into the doors! I know, it might sound boring... but give it a shot 😉, the narration and humor stuff makes it (at least in my and some users opinion as well) enjoyable :). Anyways, I'm alredy working in more interactuable things for the game
@forgeronstudio Aaaaa I'm so glad :D
@str8griz Nice! That was my principal objetive when the idea of this game came onto my mind: make people laugh hehe
@twobitmatt You'r welcome! And thanks for your comment! About the animations, I will be uploading some updates on my feed (about corrections and things that I'm planning to add in the future as well). Here is the link :) https://ldjam.com/users/noam-blei/feed
@some45bucks I'm glad you liked the jokes :). And yep! I'm working on a post-jam version with more interactuable stuff :D
@melon-spirit Awwwww thank you so much! :blush:
Very funny. Nice job. It was an engaging experience.
@killerkun thanks!! It was really cool to watch you play my game as well :smile:
@codertrevor Thank youu!! Pd: Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you dooown
@blue05 awwww thank you!! :blush: :blush:
@arad-hamidsamiee I'm glad you liked it!
@tricky-fat-cat :smile: :smile: :smile:
@ericbolseiro I'm glad you enjoyed the game :blush:
@danielleemeeks Thanks for your reply! I'm planning to add more stuff before the door breaks for a post-jam versión :). I'm glad you enjoyed
@eldogg Thankss! About the animations, I will be uploading some updates on my feed (about corrections and things that I’m planning to add in the future as well). Here is the link :) https://ldjam.com/users/noam-blei/feed
:smiley:
@runtra Never gonna run around and desert you
@naali Thank you! :smile:
I really liked this game, I find it different from other games and it's refreshing. I think there's potential to make more games like this and have even more interaction with the narrator. Well done!
This game was fun, reminds me a bit of "The Beginners Guide". It's nice to see something different every once in a while. At one point, the narrator was talking over himself, maybe a bug? I had fun either way :)
Super funny game!
I laughed out loud at this. The idea reminded me a bit of The Stanley Parable. I think it could benefit from a few more things to interact with, but overall I had a great time playing it :)
Really liked this one. There was bug though where if you tried to leave in rapid succession the voice tracks overlapped and the game finishes before the voice tracks are finished. But aside from that very cool idea and good implementation. Keep it up!
I left the game.... I think that what I was I supposed to right?
I like the idea and it's fun to play with. Well done!
I laughed aloud when the door broke. Great humor and I the door opening animation is very smooth.
Great job, *specially* for your first game! Hoping to always play your games in future jams!
Perfect example of equation : humor^(fun) Would like to be more precise with audio based on movement. Other than that, good job and hilarious entry!
@asue I'm glad you liked it! thankss
@thesedatedprince @tarfield indeed it's inspired in that kind of game with that kind of narrator, such as Stanley Parable and The Begginers Guide. Yes, the overlaping audio is a bug, I will correct it on this days. Also I'm working on more interactuable stuff for a post-jam version!
@gilad-bar-ilan :D
@cedric86 thankss!! Yep, I'm aware of that bug, I'm fixing it :)
Hehe, I like the idea! Listening to the narrator is fun. However I think its a bit too much waiting on my part as a player - I am a little bit too impatient for it
this game is very funny, just one thing, I think you should make the audio not so long cause I ended up getting bored at some points
hahaha. Had a good laugh. Nice Rick roll in the credits.
Nice first game and fun monolog :smile:
@inoscop8djfk :D Im glad you liked it
@m-trigo awww thankss!! And yess I'm really looking foward to to participate on the next LD jams :D
@mikoziq Thanksss! and thanks for the critic as well, I'm planning to add more lines on a post-jam version :)
This is one the funniest games I played in Ludum Dare, great way to make a game man! I had a blast!
I seem to be zoomed in really close to the character. I can walk off the right side but nothing seems to happen. Not sure what I should be doing here?
@mcovert are you playing it with sound on? You have to listen to the narration in orden to understand the game :) (its the most important part heh)
@douglas-driving @ssjcoder-yt thaks for your reply! And yep, I agree with you, I'm planning to re-record all the lines for a post-jam version, with more clean and fast talking :)
@ruling-spear :D, Never gonna make you cry Never gonna say goodbye
I enjoyed this game :) I wasn't too sure the point of the timer in the corner though.
It's really rare to see a game with a full on voice over narrator, really like your approach! I like the fact you've even added the hints in the game :). Although I'd change the door's SFX or may be add some more door SFXs since it's literally the only thing that you can interact with throughout the game
<< (Hints: - look at your left) >> Me: literally look on my left.. in my real room.
@ruling-spear :D, Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you
@kiryu thanksss
@gabriel-dias-oliveira-de-almeida Aaaa I'm glad you liked it :D thankss :smiley:
Please put a reminder in the description that the game is only playable with sound on.
Nice one!
This is a nice use of the game medium and the theme to tell an absurd story. I found that the timer was a very good idea to even more question what you are still doing here as a player.
I can't say I had fun but this was a really cool idea, great job 💕
The first thing I did was going to the credit and man those are maybe the more chaotic credits I've ever read lol. Seen after that this is a humor game, I'm not sure it was a mistake or intended lol Also, the first camera being so close creeped me out, combined with the walk sound.
It's nice that you give a hint to avoid someone get stuck, but it may appear a bit after, I didn't even have the time to "explore". You could also just add something extra that makes me think to go to the left.
It was also fun that in the end I could still move behind the wall and hearing the footstep, it was like the red thing was already there and not gone, trolling him even more!
Fun game =) It lasted long enough for me, more would have probably been too much!
@drjexter :smile: :smiley: , Yep indeed the timer doesn't have much of a point here. My original idea was to add a timer since I wanted to add more puzzles and stuff to interact so the players could compare how much it took to them to actually leave. It will have more sense in a post-jam version with more stuff to do :). Anyways I think it is a cool touch, so I decided to keep it anyways
Genuinely, this game made me laugh while playing it, it's a short but fun experience that fully achieves its goal of mixing humor with the loop's concept, I like it!
@nekopi Yay! And thanks for the advise! I will definetly keep it in mind
@tino HAAHAHAH Nice
@thejonu Done! Thanks :)
I like this game, overall idea, the voice (the best part of it)!
