Who Let The Dog Out by TimBeaudet 2019-10-08T09:35:03Z
Very interesting concept. I wish there was music.

Very interesting concept. I wish there was music.
I love the sound effects! Cool project :)
Great game, especially that text animation is truly beautiful. I like the art style a lot! I thought the controls were a little confusing at first, but it was fine as soon as I was used to them.
A classic survival/crafting game, and quite well executed. The camera is very hacky, but it's very playable. Great work :)
I miss an ending where everyone are striked by lightning :P. The graphics are really nice and gameplay is fun. Would be cooler with music I'm sure, but the sounds you have are pretty good.
Great work!
I like the glitch art :)
Really cool design, and one of the best clicker games I've played. Great work :)
You must've forgotten to enable public on itch.io, I am really interested in this
This game is really emotional and the music is beautiful! Thank you for making this!
I like the sheep ;)
Cool concept, but how do I unlock the cabin? I think I've tried all the items now :P
@Raphiell I see! It's a cool concept noentheless. :) I like how the order of the events are different each playthrough. A flaw with this however is that you can put yourself in a situation where you can't do anything and just have to wait 4 turns to die.
It'd be fun to see a post-jam version with more content!
Very cute graphics and great audio. Hard, but fun. Great work :)
Beautiful simple pixels and a classic bullet hell game. I enjoyed it.
Very unique. I like the circle composition.
This game is SO COOL! I reeeally enjoyed the music and the tone set here. The monster is also incredibly charming, and the vehicle mechanics are impressing for 72 hours. GREAT WORK!
This is a really cool idea! I hope it doesn't get abused too much. There's a spelling mistake, it says "what happend" instead of "what happens".
@tory I love the idea that the chickens are leaving by will, tells another story.
Fun programmer art!
Do you just kill people? :(
Very cool. The breathing noise while wearing the oxygen suit is distracting as hell, but it adds to the immersion. I liked the sprites and the secretive backstory. Well done!
Simple, but C++ and SFML is hard :P
Interesting turn of events on that ending. I'm a bad boy :(
Pretty eerie - what am I supposed to do though? I get the staff and book and then I'm stuck!
Ohh I see now! That's pretty cool when it lights up. I'll rate your game now :)
Simple, but fun. My ball lost acceleration at one point and didn't go high enough.
This is really cool, all the words I tried worked which surprised me :) Even had tin in there!
A cool concept, very stressful with the constant blinking number in the background. Perhaps it could be cleaner, but I enjoyed it :)
This is very cool and eventually I think it is quite beautiful. Nice work! That unfinished part really should've been there though - it was a bit easy!
I love the music! And it is interesting.
I agree with @AlphaDen, which is definitely a good thing for the game. It is very immersive despite the slightly buggy movement. The story is fascinating. And the music adds to the experience. It's a great idea. :)
@iozsaygi Thank you! A friend of mine commented that the movement mimics that of a go-kart. :)
@baturinsky Yeah, some of the portals are not marked clearly enough. You can walk through all the roads (until they go in a circle) and on the footsteps. Once you collect all 12 items something happens. Thanks for the feedback.
@tasakasama Indeed the cat slips everywhere, a friend of mine commented that it's like riding a go kart ;)
Thanks for the feedback!
@Vaibho The music is by the godsent composer Kevin MacLeod! He lets anyone use his work for free under a creative commons license :)
@mildmelon @Plazmaz @HolyBlackCat @W0lfEnstein @DragonsBeardGames @NachtWitch @johnny-rainbow @ScottDev @ZdravkoN @MilanK @paulo-brunassi Thanks you for playing the game! I had a lot of fun making it :)
@0x01f0 Oh, he might understand how it works when he gets home and his golf set is gone!
Relaxing and interesting!
This game feels so alive! The music when you colonize a planet fits perfectly, it's like the track "In Motion" from the Mark Zuckerberg movie
The fact that you added the option to expand on the game is also amazing. It's astonishing what you have accomplished in 72 hours.

Epic reference!
@shouji @cirnomouto @nickheron @t-c @sparkdrago @no-grapes-games @zachary-rodrigue @elio Thank you for playing the game!
@trace We actually decided against letting the slimes respawn because we kept dying to them and wanted to put down the difficulty a bit. There might however be better ways to achieve this, so your critique is taken to heart :)
@saruto I was accused of "butchering the level design" for this exact reason  We had to design the world in the last 2-3 hours of the jam - however in future versions we will improve it! As for the off-screen deaths, I assume you mean the slimes? If so, I agree we could rethink the way they attack and maybe add some kind of defense.
@shuzenandy Thanks! The game has some bugs, however, were you able to escape by pressing R?
@somethang123 Myself and @virtualvoid have had some (hobbyist) experience with making games prior to this, but @mitsu-artemius has been drawing and programming for years and he even has a published game. Most of the graphics are done by him, which is why they are so amazing. I'd say it really depends on how much time you put in. On the programming side of things you can probably get to this level in under a year; (depending on how much non-game programming you know prior) a lot of the more advanced stuff we've used in the game are built-in to godot. We might do a write up of the development process, if that is of interest!
@twistashio Thanks! Icons are possible, we actually forgot about them existing.
@guilhermesouza Yeah, there are some unfixed bugs. Were you able to escape the campfire by pressing R?
I'm looking forward to playing this when it has checkpoints! I managed the second level, but having to start over is frustrating :P
Apart from that, amazing game! Your sprites are beautiful! I also really liked the music and the slime sounds :) I thought the level design was quite elegant as well.
Apparently you can attack by pressing Y - I didn't find any info on this which was a bit confusing. Mood, graphics and audio is great. Controls are, as others have mentioned, frustrating. I liked the 2d platforming, but in the scene with the hospital bed I got stuck in the stairs and had to exit the game to get out.
I like the core idea! Something felt a bit off with the jump, when I turned around it didn't let me jump straight, instead throwing me off to the side. Might be intentional though.
While the models and music are great, the game could benefit from a more fleshed out world. Obviously though, one doesn't have all the time in the world in a jam.
You have definitely done something right here, because I feel very motivated to write a thorough review!
First of all: These monsters are awesome :smile_cat: !
monsters.png
Because of the font, I got the impression that the monsters came from the v̴̠͖̓͑o̷͖̘̳͔̩͊i̴̻̻̙̺̎d̵̜͌̅ͅ or something.
Positives: * Minimap is super helpful and a very nice addition that most probably wouldn't think of! * Weapon switching is a really cool mechanic - it helps to keep the game interesting. * Design of the monsters is awesome * Infinite jumps go well with the theme (ghost). In my first play, I fell all the way down and didn't release I could go up through the floor, but that's probably on me.
Suggestions: * Expand on the world building - the monsters are awesome, but where do they come from? I feel like there is SO much you could do with this narrative! Are they your dead neighbours? Are they from the v̴̠͖̓͑o̷͖̘̳͔̩͊i̴̻̻̙̺̎d̵̜͌̅ͅ? * Maybe the different weapons could have varying effects on the monsters? For example, the exploder could be weak to shotgun while the meelee is weak to triple shot * You could probably make the textures connect. That might improve the look a bit, although I am quite a fan of the programmer art ;)
Simple yet entertaining. Could be on an arcade machine!
As the other commenter, I think this game would benefit from sounds.
I really liked the textures and design. I also love the way you interact with monsters and objects. This game brings me back :)
I really like the mechanics in this game! Nice variety of biomes and hostile objects. I also liked how the game caters to my incompetence by making the levels easier. Found it a little confusing at first that you have to touch the bird to go to the next level.
For a few hours this is great :P
Very frustrating, I catched the mouse 3 times hoping that something else would happen eventually, but I guess it was a loop after all. It must be a fun game, I couldn't stop playing out of curiosity. This is a perfect game to have tons of easter eggs, I suppose it might actually have some that I didn't find?
Nice puzzle game, I tried to do some of the levels without any upgrades, that didn't work out too well for me. Intriguing concept :)
I like 2d puzzle games like this one a lot, and you really did land on a great mood for the theme. It was a bit difficult to understand what to do, and the randomly spawning robots were extremely difficult to deal with. I figured out that you can hit them with the wrench, however I never really got the hang of it since I couldn't control which direction the wrench shot. I didn't manage to finish the game, I tried 3-4 times, but kept dying from all the robots in the enclosed spaces (as previously mentioned)
I thought the sound effects were ok, and I liked the aspect with the map and figuring out where to go, for a 2d puzzle game made by one person in such a short time I actually think this is great. However, some more help with what to do and maybe dialing back the robots (or changing from random spawning to placing them out) might have helped some with the experience :)
This game is giving me an existential crisis, the fact that none of this is real though it looks completely .. real? That is seriously interesting...
@feiko @happygamer500 @polaliart @rubr @adam-jewell @etrealjunior @federico-giorgi Thank you guys for playing our game, and thank you for the feedback. I'm glad you thought it was immersive ^^
@blind-lemon-games We have taken it to consideration that it might be difficult to know what to do, however I hope everyone managed to get through the first 3-4 weeks to see what happens eventually (granny gets signed up for a bunch of subscriptions).
@noam-blei How long did you play for? There are a bunch of side quests, however in the start the game moves pretty slowly. It does get a bit repetitive if you do not lean into any of the content though, and it might be too difficult to understand how or when you can engage. Thank you very much for the feedback!
Extra note: We just realised that we forgot to include the dictionary file which meant that you could not receive payments from your job, however this was mostly aa way to supplement money that you lose from the viruses. The file is now included.
How do I print paper?
I really wanted to make it go well, but life doesn't always give you a choice. Cool idea, bunch of work must have gone into this dialogue. :)
I especially like the mechanic, really feel like that brings something new to the table. The game is fun, at times difficult. Cool!!
I like this retro experience. I like your absurd situations:)
I was pleasently surprised to see that there was more after the first level - good job :)
Spooky. I liked the premise, although the game is really short. Are there more mistakes that you can make after breakfast?
This is seriously disturbing. Good job!
This game was fun, reminds me a bit of "The Beginners Guide". It's nice to see something different every once in a while. At one point, the narrator was talking over himself, maybe a bug? I had fun either way :)
I like the puzzle mechanic, and the progession was great. As an other commenter said, I found myself brute-forcing the puzzle. It seems fair to me, as perfecting / balancing a puzzle mechanic can take a really long time. It's a fun contribution either way :)
Once I realized how the connections were formed, it made a lot more sense. I think you gain resources when placing the right buildings next to the resources? It was a bit unclear what things did, for instance what the "Lore"-resource did.
Pros: - Cool gameplay idea - Huge scope to tackle for a jam - Very nice soundtrack
Cons: - Hard to understand how to play the game without trial and error - Graphics didn't match what things did - it was hard to distinguish the different buildings and the sea turtle being science research threw me off before I realized that's what it was.
The overall gameplay and the mood/soundtrack were the best components of this game for me!
It was a bit slow as others have said, except for that I liked the mechanic with the rope (although that was a bit frustrating when I couldn't make the diver grab a heart before it disappeared) and the music and art is good!
I do not have a numpad 0, so I could not play as the right player. It's a cool idea, reminds me of bomberman.
I played until I got the white dot, I tried to follow the arrow, but after a few minutes of cruising I was eaten up by a black hole twice. I really liked the premise for the game, the music was cute and the humor in the writing was a nice touch. I enjoyed the game, even though I got frustrated by the black hole.
I really liked the music and mood here, such a charming game! I thought it was a bit to harsh that you have to start from the beginning if you die, there were no checkpoints :(
There are some great elements here, but the games a bit short and it feels like it's compensating by being really hard haha. Kinda like the old time games
A very sad, although interesting game. It's mostly a visual novel as I do not believe I had any choice, but to do what was asked by me(?), and it does carry a pretty well-written story. I do agree with the other commenter that it would have benefitted from some more depth. I personally would prefer if there was some more choice, although as a visual novel it does well! Mood and graphics were wonderful.
Cool little game with a pretty unique idea - this could definitely be expanded on to be really fun! I miss a relaxing soundtrack, and it would be pretty cool if you could see the flower/top of this plant when taking a picture!
I wanted to see the desk fall! This is a really fun game, I love the narrative and the stressful gameplay. If there was a cutscene with the desk falling that would be awesome, however I think you really made a great game here :D
Pros: - Cute dog texture and music fits to the gameplay - The gameplay fits to theme - It's fun to find new obstacles - It feels good to find the paths - Good writing
Cons: - It's a bit boring to go through the same gameplay many times to figure out the path, maybe it should be possible to go quicker in the start?
Amazing mood in this game, and I liked the .. creature(s?) The lack of feedback when using items was a bit confusing at first, I thought as someone else that the sword should be used on the tree. I really liked the ending, didn't see what the thing greeting me was at first, but felt relief when I recognized it! The music was also very cool, very good fit to the game.
The music was very nice to listen to, and feel like the game really set the mood properly of falling down through eternity. I thought the gameplay was a bit repetitive, as the enemies were easy to dodge (so them increasing in numbers didn't bother me). You hit spot on with the theme!
I think the mood is wonderful, I really liked these astral beings coming to follow your progress. I'm not sure I understood the flow of the game, when you fall down you go one level deeper? I was judged as "Okay," but I played really terribly, so I'm wondering if this was perhaps ironic :P However it was a really nice experience and a good jam - your drawings are perfect for the mood and music in this game. I was entertained!
The game is just to click on different things to try and remember who you are, right? If there is more to it, please let me know. The writing and art was nice, I liked the setting and mood here. Would have been great with some fitting music.
The mechanic for making tea could perhaps be expanded on if this game was to become bigger, but I liked the premise. Very cool art and nice mood.
I actually liked the controls because it was really nice to drift, but I thought the packages were a bit too far away (was it random) so I failed a lot. I guess that's the "unreasonable". I also found it a bit hard to distinguish the buildings from the road.
Nice writing and humor, and creative idea. I liked the game!
@selkieharbour Did you try to press left / right arrow key on your keyboard? When you do that, the packages are thrown from the respective side of your car and the goal is to hit the platforms.
Thank you for playing!
I like the writing and the premise here a lot, I actually would have loved to play more levels.
