Haha those sound effects. Impressive first attempt at an fps. I would like to see more knowing that you only completed half of what you set out to create.

I always have a lot of respect for people who make FPS games in jams, there a lot to do in such a short time. Although there wasn't much to it, I played until my debt was paid off.

My main criticism was the lag when moving the gun, it seemed a little excessive that as you turned it would take almost a second for the gun to catch up.

For extending the gameplay, I think it would be cool to have the same mechanics, but make watering your crops really important (and have them take longer to grow) so you have to frantically running around shooting water at your crops to keep them alive. You say half the game was cut, I'd be interested to see what else you had planned for it :)

@blaster391 thanks a bunch! i tried to cut the gun lag down but something was causing really nasty jitter when i lowered it any further. need to work out an issue in the math to make it feel more responsive, but the good news is that it doesn't actually affect aim, just a visual thing.

the crop watering was planned to take much longer, i just completely ran out of time to balance the growth time vs rain frequency (i didn't even end up with time to finish the crop models! argh!) so i made sure it was short enough to make sure everything worked.

@robopossum thanks! it was really planned for two people to work on the whole time, but that didn't pan out. originally was supposed to have much longer crop cycles, weeds taking over your farm all the time, random asteroid impacts (this was coded, but depended on the weeds to finish)... and finished models.

Fun game. Would've loved to see the whole thing. I definitely think that combining an FPS with a farming game could make for an interesting product.

As it is I had fun shooting seeds at the ground. Adding lots of particle effects and other stuff would probably make it even more fun.

I'm sorry to hear that you guys had some trouble but I really respect the fact that you decided to power through and finish it anyway. I wish the people who are complimenting you on making an FPS for a jam knew that not only did you do that, but also made it in a 2d framework :smile:

I'm glad that I finally got around to playing your entry, I actually liked it a lot, my favorite part was "BANG BANG... NOPE... BANG BANG... NOPE" sound effects haha.
