Best jam game I have played yet! It was a very nice change of pace from the action-y games i've been playing. The graphics were beautiful, and the music was very nice. 5 stars across the board!

Best jam game I have played yet! It was a very nice change of pace from the action-y games i've been playing. The graphics were beautiful, and the music was very nice. 5 stars across the board!
Very well made! The cross-fading music between the different environments was a really nice touch.
This was great fun to play! The driving felt really nice. The concept of being a taxi driver in Little Italy felt cool and thematic. If you polished the hell out of and put it on steam i'd be tempted to buy it. 5 stars!
Very nice graphics and a fun concept. The controls felt very intuitive, which was nice. The major thing I would recommend would be a more obvious indicator of a tower's coverage and range. 5 stars!
Genuinely, this is one of the best entries. Period. The art was beautiful and the music was beautiful. The gameplay felt nice, original, and very smooth. Well done!
@laguna Much love! The notable problems you've mentioned could definitely be fixed if I decided to work more on this game. I greatly appreciate the feedback.
P.S: I rated your game, good luck!
This was pretty fun. The only major complaint I have is the extremely slow pace. The boxes are obviously too much of a pain to move, and it can become boring moving them. However, this is a really neat idea, and the graphics were nice. Overall, good job. I think this is a good idea that deserves further development
I liked this. The gameplay felt a little slow and the controls are a little wonky, but the concept is really cool. A definite 5 star in Innovation. Overall, well done.
This is quite fun. I played until 77 rockets until I got bored and stopped. I played the original compo version, so you may have already done this, but there is one thing I would recommend: A difficulty setting. It wouldn't be hard, maybe rockets take more fuel and launch more frequently. Perhaps it would also be interesting if there was a game mode where the other 3 A.I's could run out of fuel, and you have to be the last truck standing. Overall, very well done.
This is the most aesthetically pleasing game I've played so far. It's a great idea for a game and it was done really well, it matches the theme perfectly. Very well done!
This is very nice. The gameplay is smooth and everything is very cleanly represented, The game has a nice charm to it. The only evident problem I noticed was slow movement. Well done!
A definite 5-star on mood. This game delivered a great feeling and it's the perfect type of game to make for Ludum Dare, very nice!
This was fantastic, I played through the entire thing. It's a nice simple experience for Ludum Dare and it was very fun. The graphics were great. It was actually kind of fun to spawn hundreds of ships and lag the game
Very clean and polished, it's a nice a game for Ludum Dare.
Understandably, it's a little rough around the edges. Once I realized how to play though, I liked the idea of it. It was an interesting turn-based game. The only major complaints I would have are clunky movement and slow, intrusive text boxes. Other than that, I'd say it's an above average entry for sure. Well done.
This was a perfect game for Ludum Dare. It was very fun to play and the graphics were phenomenal. The music and sound effects were nice too. This is definitely one of the best entries I have played, very well done!
I like it. As mentioned above, purely random asteroids can be inescapable sometimes. I think if the game started with fewer asteroids and increased the spawn rate as time passed, there would be a lot more fun and depth to the game. Overall, well done.
Much appreciated everybody! Huge thanks to @togis for playing my game on stream.
@iamsodarncool
Thank you for the great review! I'm really glad you took the time to dissect my game.
1. I certainly understand your trouble with the time limit, as it is quite arbitrary. The game, as it's built, could easily be much more expansive and have no time limit. However, for Ludum Dare, I wanted to have a very compact experience as most people will play the game for no longer than 5-10 minutes.
2. As a wannabe space nerd and space enthusiast, even I can understand that the physics are quite unrealistic. Realism was not my main intent, as I focused mostly on consistency in the controls and solid gameplay. If I were to expand on this idea, I would definitely take a much more complex approach to the controls to imitate a real space vessel.
I like the idea of a full game where you are a for-hire space miner. Perhaps you could travel different galaxies, gathering parts and jobs to tweak your custom ship and explore different worlds.
Thanks again!
@iamsodarncool
I wouldn't mind at all, nobody owns an idea. We could use more space exploration games anyways
This felt really nice to play. It's actually fairly similar to my game . The music and sound effects were great, the graphics looked nice, and it plays well. Good job!
Thanks to @Iamsodarncool for the compliment and bringing me to this game! With a hard theme imo, it was hard to be creative, but you followed the theme well with an original idea nonetheless. The combat felt a little stiff, but the rest of the game was smooth to play. It looks nice and the music is a good addition, well made!
Honestly one of the most well rounded game I've played so far. The gameplay and controls were butter smooth, the simplistic, but expressive art style fit well, and the sounds and music were awesome. Overall, a great example of a platformer.
One of the best I've played yet. The graphics were very charming, and the game mechanic was a fascinating twist on top-down mini-golf. The music was nice. I completed with 79 shots taken, and murdered my fair share of piggies. I probably would have preferred mouse controls as well, but the keyboard worked fine, and was better for making tiny adjustments to a shot.
Very fun and polished game from start to finish, I completed it twice. Twas fun hanging out in your stream a bit, hope to see you for LD41!
This was really fun to play. I wish it was controllable with the keyboard as the mouse felt inconsistent at times. The graphics were great, and the game worked perfectly as far as I could tell.
The particle graphics were very nice, and the music was fine. This is a clever way to fulfill the theme, and it works well. The game was fun to play, but I don't feel like the difficulty peaked high enough. Once I had 4 lasers, there was little incentive to move, and I found it easier just to rotate idly near my sun. Perhaps if your lasers couldn't go through the sun, then the player would have to move around more. Overall, I enjoyed it, well made.
One of the best I've played this Ludum Dare. I really like how you guys implemented the theme into a clever puzzle game. The graphics were excellent and the music fit perfectly, great job.
This was quite fun. The graphics were very nice and it was pretty intuitive to figure out. The game also fits the challenging theme very well. Overall, excellent job.
Well done on completing a working game for LD40! I don't see how it fits the theme, but I don't blame you much for that, as this winter's theme wasn't very good in [my opinion](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/bloc/bad-theme-imo-but-thats-okay). The A.I and collision felt a bit crude, but it was still pretty fun to fight them, all be it a little easy. It was a bit unclear where to go, but after wandering around for a couple minutes I found and defeated the boss. It was a nice experience, and I hope you continue to develop games!
Great entry. This is one of the most unique I've played so far and it works well. The graphics are good too.
One of the best games I've played so far. I made a platformer as well with some similar concepts, but yours is quite a bit nicer. Good job!
Thanks everyone for the comments
@jimbly The opt out was a mistake :grimacing:, just reactivated it and it appears I got some audio ratings. I must have opted out by accident at some point.
@filogc :laughing:
One of the best I've played this Ludum Dare! I really like the idea and it was very well executed. 5 stars all around
This was amazing, had a lot of fun playing it with a friend. Great job!
Lots of fun! A simple mechanic executed very well. Running around to collect health and keeping the heart alive kept gameplay interesting.
I lasted for 6:33 with a score of 20930
The only bad thing was that I couldn't date Cornelius, everything else was stellar
Can't say I was expecting that
The aesthetic was very nice and I played through the whole game as the story kept me engaged, definite 5 stars for mood
a fun and satisfying game to play. I also appreciated the gamepad controls, nicely done
I love tower defense games and this is a cool take on tower defense. I found it a bit tedious and difficult to keep track of all of the enemies. Perhaps the tower could have more windows, or just add an minimap/other HUD element that would show where the enemies are. Overall, great job.
This is an extremely cleverly designed game perfect for the compo. I love it when it only takes a few seconds to fully understand the game mechanics and the game is still engaging and satisfying to play. Managed to get 3865 after a couple of attempts
I adore this game. It was extremely well put together and I really appreciate the flavor text that goes along with the puzzles. I found the puzzles really satisfying to solve, especially when I was able to trap the cat 😈
This is a really cool idea for a game and it was executed amazingly. The graphics are beautiful and the game plays very smoothly. A lot of jam games struggle with overly complex game mechanics that aren't easily understood due to scope creep, but this game feels polished and it was immediately obvious what my objectives were. I managed to get a score of 32552
@sudocoffee Thanks so much for playing. You make good points. I fully admit the accessibility is no where near perfect and many improvements could be made on that front. If one is playing the game with audio only, I want to give them all of the information they need without overwhelming or confusing them, but I agree there are quite a few sounds you would have to memorize in a short period. Perhaps a brief vocal description like "pit" or "boulder" could play alongside the sound effects and "level 2", "level 3", etc. could play at the beginning of each level. Thanks for the feedback
@sevansevan This is great feedback, thank you. If I were to expand on this idea and make this into a larger project, I would definitely incorporate your idea of adding a narrative to the levels. Some commentary from the protagonist about the surroundings and some ambient noise would really add to the experience, I think. I've given some more thought about how I could remove the potential for forgetting the various sound effects without assuaging the immersion. Perhaps you could hold shift while moving, and a one word description of the sound effect will play. With helpful feedback from you and others, I think there's a real possibility to make an extensive and engaging experience that the visually impaired could also enjoy.
This was a really cool experience. I was surprised by how much content there is. The story was cool and it was presented in an intriguing way. Well done!
Very nice game, I enjoyed playing it. Ended up soft locking myself a few times because I didn't understand the importance of checking what resources you need to unlock the next sector lol. I'm a sucker for crafting games though, so I liked min-maxing for an ideal run
very creative concept for a puzzle game. I liked it a lot and it fits the theme quite well.
An artistic masterpiece
One of the most fun games I've played this Ludum Dare. The simple controls and mechanics worked great.
The concept was fun. The graphics were nice. I agree the timer was a little fast, I type at ~85 WPM and was just barely passing the tricks with 5 words, maybe difficulty settings? Overall, great job.
It was fun, I enjoyed it.
The controls felt good, and the game looked nice. As previously noted, a tutorial of some sort would be nice. The mechanics were pretty easy to grasp though, so that's not a huge deal. The only criticism I would offer is that the gameplay lacks depth, and there's not really a better strategy than spamming units. Overall, well done. :grinning:
Very solid game all around. There's nothing really to complain about. Maybe keyboard controls? Perhaps letters are used to select powers and number keys are used to target the cars. I don't know if that would be more convenient or not. Either way, good job.
I like Chess a lot, so this was a super interesting concept for me. As you mentioned, the A.I could be better (Chess A.I is hard), but it was still an enjoyable concept. One of the best ideas I've seen
@lavwa Yes, that is definitely a broken system :grimacing:, should be an easy fix if I continue development. Thank you and everyone for the feedback :grinning:
@archimagus Hmm . I downloaded just fine and you're the first to mention this, strange.
Phenomenal. I could easily see this as a game in my steam library
Very innovative concept, and the graphics are great. Well done.
Very interesting concept. I'm sure I would have loved this in my elementary class . The only problems I had with the game were that the bullets don't despawn when you beat the level (possibly hitting you when you're forcefully idle in the next level) and the agonizing wait time at the beginning of each level. In my opinion, removing that would make the game a lot more fluid and fun. Very well done overall!
