LD35 — Shapeshift

Schrift by DrPetter 2016-05-02T11:47:00

this is a really interesting take on the theme. at the beginning i was a little unsure of the mechanics, having something like a simple tutorial might have made it a bit easier to get going. nonetheless, i enjoyed what i played (that i was able to beat, i'm pretty bad at puzzle games, lol!) and liked the neat mechanic.

Dave from Bungie by Dmitrix 2016-04-20T04:27:00

this is definitely a unique take on the theme! it was a bit short and linear, but i did like how i never really knew what i was actually about to say after i clicked on an option, haha. keeps me on my toes :-0

MODE_SHIFT by RyanNielson 2016-04-20T02:21:00

game has a really good feel to it, and the quick restart makes it addictive! overall, a STELLAR game! haha

THIS IS AMAZING by JokerDen 2016-04-20T02:04:00

simple, but simple really worked for this. the game looked and felt like it would be really good on mobile.

ORIKAMI by Mnemusyne 2016-04-19T15:28:00

wow, this is one of my favorite games i've played from this jam so far!

the art is just fantastic, it's got such a nice clean style that works super well with the mechanics. i also really like the color choices, and the parallax scrolling with the clouds.
the controls feel nice, and it has some really great atmosphere going on with the ending. great job!!

Matchlock Alchemy by sockfolder 2016-04-25T02:18:00

really interesting game, although the rules are a little hard to wrap my head around. but all in all it's nice to see a shape matching game with some variety in the rules.

Tremor by Troyan 2016-04-20T02:14:00

really nice art style, and i liked the shapeshifting mechanic with the obstacles.

Changeling Infiltration Simulator by ProjectX593 2016-04-25T02:32:00

really cool concept for a game, the art was very fitting for it too. great job!!

Gallery by ToadieTechnika 2016-04-23T00:26:00

this game really had a lot of polish for a jam game... i'm not really one for the matching mechanic, but i liked the ending bit where i got to name my own shape, haha. overall really great graphics and sound!

News Anchor Simulator by thephantom 2016-04-20T04:39:00

this is an interesting game, it would be cool to see it elaborated on further, with maybe more of a story.

A Soul of Clay by fullmontis 2016-04-20T12:00:00

this is a really interesting puzzle game with a great interpretation of the theme. while i agree with others that the centered text can be almost disorientating to try and read while in motion, i enjoyed the game itself. good job!!

Corvid by Just Tom 2016-04-19T04:31:00

this is pretty cool! i really like the style of pixel art you used, especially for the mossy bits of building and rock.
the game also feels really good to play, you really get the sense of being chased. and the things chasing you are pretty creepy with their shadowy effect...

Acute Clinic by Lady Beardo 2016-04-22T02:34:00

what a neat game, i really love games about choices and decision making. the art style was really cute, and worked really well with the game. great job!!

Limber by Wefiends 2016-04-20T21:47:00

this was really fantastic!! i loved the art style and the funky music, the poses were super cute, and a great take on the theme. all in all, i really enjoyed it :)

Fast Dungeon by Andreas Brandt 2016-04-19T14:35:00

very nice art and animation, especially for the playable character!
i agree with what others are saying about the controls, but i think this is really lovely.

Disquieting Excerpts from My Diary by ViliX64 2016-04-19T04:13:00

this game had a whole bunch of atmosphere, i really liked that sort of sparse melody in the background. kept me intrigued enough to play all the way through!

10DaysOfDreaming by Polyknight_+_dragonGlitch 2016-04-21T00:59:00

i really enjoyed this! the graphics and audio were really stylish and atmospheric, and i felt pretty invested in the story. the mood that you set was intriguing, i went from being relaxed to more and more on-edge as the game went on, eager to see how the story panned out...

Super Shift-Shaper by Jacksendary 2016-04-25T02:04:00

this does really remind me of super hexagon, but with your own twist on it. i loved the style and colors, just wish dying wasn't so abrupt when it happened.

Prince Charmless by Pietro Ferrantelli 2016-04-27T01:00:00

wow, this game was fantastic!! extremely polished for a jam and really fun. great great job :>

JobSWitcH by Thingo Studios 2016-04-25T01:43:00

this is a really interesting game... it was a bit difficult to understand at first, but after losing once i felt like i had sort of gotten the hang of things.

one of my favorite things is the sprites in the game, the people looking like they're squished into a box gives it a really unique look, and the variety of attacks was really cool. one thing i would say is that when starting a new game after losing a game, the music started playing but the old music didn't stop playing, so they were kind of overlayed on top each other in a crazy sort of chaotic way, haha.

Craft a Raft by SUNFURY 2016-04-25T02:01:00

wow, what a great concept for the theme. the art was super cute and the game played well, really impressive job! love that there's a level editor too.

Beat Henshin by igrir 2016-04-20T04:11:00

the character and poses were really cute, but i wish there was some music to dance along to!

SHAPE☆SHIFT by KaiClavier 2016-04-25T12:02:00

what a great little game! the first thing that drew me in was the graphics, they're really lovely and so cute... they did look kind of familiar, and then i saw your description, and i follow rev on twitter/tumblr and stuff and i love his art. what a neat coincidence i stumbled upon this game :O

the mechanic in this was really cool, though i feel like the controls could use a little more work. i really liked the puzzle solving aspect of this, all in all, great job!!

(Mono no) Aware by ThommazK 2016-04-21T12:48:00

what a lovely game! the graphics were beautiful and very unique.

the only thing i would change would be the text scroll, i kept accidentally skipping text because i thought that clicking x again would reveal all the text before skipping it.

Ro Sham Bot by huminaboz 2016-04-19T04:15:00

wow! i really really like this game's art style. very cute and clean, with well-designed enemies :>

Soothsayer Simulator 2016 by iceburg7 2016-04-21T15:21:00

what an interesting experience... i also stuck around until the end of the song, it was very nice.

Shadow of the Red Hand by andyman404 2016-04-25T11:42:00

this was SUCH a unique idea, executed really well. all the ways you incorporated the hand shapes were super interesting and it all worked very well together. really great job!!

Pasowix's Magical Shapeshifting Workshop by glaze_96 2016-04-20T22:22:00

what a charming game!! i was surprised with the little quips, i wasn't expecting them at first, but they really upped my enjoyment of the game. i liked your interpretation of the theme, and had a good time figuring out the puns :)

Neko Katadzukeru by mahalis 2016-04-20T04:45:00

um, wow! i looove this idea. it is cute and very fun, but also... super hard! the controls were a bit finicky at times, but stretching out the cats felt pretty satisfying, haha.

where do i sign up to get those boxes delivered to my front door? :P

ˈSHāpˌSHift by GogglesKitty 2016-04-25T02:37:00

such an interesting concept, i really liked the kind of minimalist look to it, though i wish there was a little more to make it feel.. game-y? i guess. still, really solid job.

Triangles Say Yip by sorceress 2016-04-20T23:32:00

i wanted to see where the story was going, but i accidentally hit escape and lost all my progress...
the graphics and music were pretty good, it looks like you created a lot of content in such a short period of time.

TamaHero by monetai 2016-04-25T01:19:00

this was a cute game. i agree with what others are saying about the mechanics being repetitive, but i thought the graphics and audio were pretty good nonetheless. when the end happened i find it kind of spooked me, haha.

Ultra Space Sim 2k16 by telmore 2016-04-25T02:08:00

an interesting experience, wish there was more to do but what you have done is very chill. the ship building aspect was really cool.

Bulletmorfer by Schurtz 2016-04-20T04:07:00

your game is cute, with some fun mechanics, but i believe there are artists who you have left uncredited?
the background image was originally a gif by michael shillingburg, and the player sprites appear to be from enter the gungeon. while i'm sure using the graphics for a jam game is harmless enough, i feel as though the credit should have been given.

Squid Girl by benwiley4000 2016-04-20T02:11:00

really cute! though, i do wish there was more instruction.

Party at the Knightclub by Elisée and friends 2016-04-19T15:46:00

oh wow, this is really stunning!
from the pixel-y lowpoly cartoonish style to the funny dialogue and unique characters, i can't even narrow down my favorite part of this. it really makes me wish i wasn't terrible at adventure puzzle games, haha. awesome job!

sadly, i couldn't hear any music in the html5 version. i heard sound effects just fine, but no tunes.

Tsocwol Tour Operator by LeReveur 2016-04-25T01:47:00

what a unique take on the theme! i really enjoyed this. loved the crazy alien shapes, haha.

Nami No Mizu by PanicTheFirst 2016-04-25T01:28:00

this is a really neat interpretation of the theme, i had a good time trying to figure out the puzzles. i'm also really digging the sort of lowpoly faceted art style you have going on.

Miss Turner's Magical Pet Swap Shop by Rose 2016-04-21T14:29:00

this was such a cool idea, executed really well! seriously one of the most innovative concepts for the theme i've seen in the jam so far. the art style is super cute, and everything feels very polished and deliberate. the controls also worked very smoothly :)
i like that specific hints that are given when you're off, it keeps you from getting stuck!

all in all, i enjoyed playing this a lot, really great job!!

jelliskul by cakeknuckles 2016-04-19T04:02:00

thanks! and yeah... the blue button was another little section that we didn't have time to finish, sadly :<

jelliskul by cakeknuckles 2016-04-19T04:22:00

@dcolgan i was a little worried that that sort of thing would happen with the way we have it set up!
other endings are achieved by forgoing one of the 3 available activities, favoring one in particular. i think in further iterations that will probably change.

jelliskul by cakeknuckles 2016-04-19T04:37:00

@Ghust1995 oops, thanks!

jelliskul by cakeknuckles 2016-04-20T03:46:00

@RyanNielson ah, good call! i feel a bit silly now that i didn't know i could export it from game maker studio as a standalone exe... but now i know, and i just switched it out. same game, less work to play it. thanks for getting me to check on that.

jelliskul by cakeknuckles 2016-04-20T15:27:00

@jollyserpent it was originally going to be a "play" option! i thought i would have time to do like a simple pong-like minigame, but the deadline crept up on us ><

Morphing Maria by Frozen Fractal 2016-04-21T12:37:00

this is such a nice little puzzle game, really good interpretation of the theme!

Dustin Finamore by fin_nolimit 2016-04-23T00:51:00

that was a pretty cute, kinda psychedelic little game! also the voice clips caught me pretty off guard, but it was very unique in that way. tell your daughter i think you guys did a great job!! :)

Aftertile by LOSTALLOY 2016-04-20T01:57:00

this was super cute! the graphics and animation were very nice and i also really enjoyed the audio.

Agent Shift by jollyserpent 2016-04-20T05:04:00

after going through the tutorial, i thought this was going to be a confusing and frustrating experience, but i found it well designed and easy to pick up, as well as kind of addictive. great job with the mechanics, i thought this was extremely fun!!

Cactus Corner by Millefey 2016-04-20T02:00:00

i liked the character design and art style, it was super cute! the gameplay was pretty simple but still really good for a first project.

The Frog Prince and the Iron Heart by celia14 2016-04-20T04:21:00

i have to admit... i definitely have a soft spot for twine games :)
this was really really well done, a joy to read, and an extremely interesting take on the theme, both with the literal shapeshifting in the classic fairytale, and the way the actual story itself shifts and change as you reveal more and more backstory. great job!!

Squarcle by bagface 2016-04-25T01:33:00

solid interpretation of the theme, this game had easy to understand mechanics and interesting levels.

Wobble Yoga by q_dork 2016-04-20T21:41:00

this was a fun & hilarious game, and also had a really nice simple style. great job!!

Work! by DevelopTech 2016-04-25T02:25:00

what a lovely and thought-provoking game. it feels really polished, despite the short development time. i loved the pixel style, it also had really good music and atmosphere.

Rock scissors paper by spb_Rusty 2016-04-22T12:06:00

cute little game! i agree with what others are saying about the controls, but i still found it to be a neat idea for a game, and a good interpretation of the theme.

LD36 — Ancient Technology

Videos, Please by grandtheftmarmot 2016-09-03T15:12:00

glad to see someone else's game for this theme is also set in a video rental store :O

papers please is a great inspiration, and you nailed the atmosphere/visuals. the game was also really funny, and i'm glad the dialogue of each day varied a little bit, leading to a conclusion. the only thing i was really missing was some initial instructions on what to do on the first gameplay screen, i wasn't sure how to proceed at first.

all in all, really great job!

The Polaroid by dissonent 2016-09-03T16:48:00

i really enjoyed this! the atmosphere was very chill, and the puzzle elements took a second to grasp, but then there was that bit of an "aha!" moment where all the pieces came together. it had a beautiful visual style, and came off as very stylish and polished. awesome job!

My house is over there by kyyninen 2016-09-03T16:40:00

what an atmospheric game! it was really compelling to explore, and the darkness emphasized how big the space you created was... it was impressive, for the short span of time to develop. i liked the slow introduction to an objective, the bright green served as a good beacon to follow, because you could see them distinctly in the darkness. unfortunately i couldn't really figure out if there was an ending, i found all the green lights and i couldn't figure out what to do next.

but all in all, great!

Aqueduct Defense Force by BoxedMeatRevolution 2016-09-03T15:28:00

i thought this was really neat! the first time i played, i felt a little bit confused, but the pieces eventually fit together. i think it definitely could be expanded on to become a larger game, but as it is, it's a nice little tower defense game. good job!

VHS Rental - A retail nightmare by Irrithyll 2016-09-03T16:44:00

ah, our game was set in a VHS rental store too!! i love to find out people had a similar thought process in regards to the theme, haha.

i really liked the game, it was a bit simplistic, but i loved the humor from the parody movie covers. i do wish there had been more movies to choose from, so as not to have repeats in the same shelf, but for the amount of time you had to work on it i think you accomplished more than enough. i also thought the art was very cute and fitting. good job!

My Computer by QC Pips 2016-09-03T15:34:00

this game was pretty simple, but a funny concept. when i started it up i wasn't sure what to expect, but the concept made me laugh. the controls worked as expected, and i loved the throwback visuals of the old windows OS, haha. good job!

Hello Hello by celia14 2016-08-31T20:37:00

i think you did a really great job!!
it was a unique concept, and I think you executed it really well. the controls were super responsive and polished, and the interface was so cute, with that modern flat ui feel and vintage-y muted colors. i liked the inclusion of a tutorial, it helped introduce the concept of the game, and i enjoyed playing it, even though i was pretty bad. it definitely seems like the kind of game that you could be really good at once you're in "the zone". v nice. :>

Retro YouTube Simulator by pogo 2016-09-03T16:54:00

wow! this is such a cool idea. i was skeptical at first, but then i did some queries and realized that they were actual youtube vids! mind blown. i know some people have noted technical difficulties, but thankfully everything ran smoothly for me.

i really liked the visual style of the monitor and computer, though the rest of the room was a little sparse, it definitely wasn't the main experience, so i wouldn't count it as a detriment. i think this could be kinda fun in VR, haha.

good job!

Hikari’s Journey 光の旅 — the umbral world by Junber 2021-10-05T23:40:11Z

this was such a neat experience, i loved the way it switched between the different game mediums, and i was excited to see what would come next. i'm really impressed with the amount of work it took to make so many separate pieces, and it felt very cohesive. great job!!

SEXY BOOBY 95 by silkworm_sweatshop 2021-10-05T23:51:36Z

this was such a fun little game!! a great idea for the jam and a great execution, good work!

The Yellow Wallpaper by WhenYouCantFindAFriend 2021-10-05T23:42:07Z

the art for this is really trippy and fun, it's a neat interpretation of the source material!

LCD DREAM ESCALATOR by Hydezeke 2021-10-06T00:16:44Z

this is. amazing. what a great homage and a fun set of worlds to explore, fantastic job!!

Wizards On The Rocks by alpharock6 2021-10-07T13:34:01Z

this game has a really nice aesthetic and style, the gameplay was fun and it really stuck well to the theme. the writing was also so charming, nice work!
