LD39 — Running out of Power

King of Mithril by wan 2017-08-04T10:11:38Z

A pretty nice game considering the amount of time available, kudos for that!

I found the game to be pretty solid in regards of the art style, the audio etc. I found the game to be pretty easy though, as I found no downsides to running around with RMB down all the time which resulted in me slaughtering everything (including the boss, which took 0.5 second if you just went behind him before he noticed you). Other than that small design error it's a pretty fun game and really well made when you only had 72 hours

Run To Coal! by smdeveloper 2017-08-03T19:23:08Z

Overall a nice little game compared to the time available to the task. I like the cute graphics and mechanics - they're pretty nice and have a good scope for a 48-hour game. I do believe however, that the coal-meter declined waaaaay too fast, as it seemed to only be possible to make two or three trips no matter what you did.

Regarding the audio; I think it's very out of place to be honest. I would have liked to see some kind of western/cowboy music (and a banjo!)

Geralt's secret powersource by Sublustris 2017-08-03T11:46:16Z

As a huge Witcher 3 fan I love this little game, it has some pretty nice graphics and responsive controls. The game is EXTREMELY fast-paced though (I don't know if it's intentional, because it seemed like everything was sped up?) which lead me to not get very far in the game. Overall a good game, but please speed it down a bit :)

[Web] Apocalyptic Gamer by Linver 2017-08-03T21:48:08Z

5/5! I looove this idea, and it's executed to perfection! Everything about this game is so well done, and it's a really brilliant design with the console battery-mechanic

Power Plant Simulator. by BroRawr 2017-08-03T19:38:31Z

This game is a super awesome 72-hour game - one of the best I've seen so far!

The graphics are really awesome, consistent and super smooth! (and satisfying as all hell fluid animations).

The music is kinda out of place, but also oddly fitting because of the goofy nature of the game (and how intense it is)

I really enjoy the balancing mechanics of the game.. And the fluid animations are simply awesome.. Can't stress that enough. Well done guys!

Power lines down! by thaaks 2017-08-03T11:11:37Z

All in all a solid game for the amount of time put into it! Nice and good use of the mechanics - simple to understand and play, and it fits the theme beautifully. Well done mate

Spacesteroids by novotmike 2017-08-04T10:22:16Z

A fun little spaceshooter, well done!

I love the low poly 3D models, they're absolutely gorgeous!

The gameplay in general is on the right path, but it needs some changes (in my opinion of course): 1. When you try to pilot the spaceship to either left or right it feels pretty slow. This is because of the slow acceleration. I like games like these to be very responsive, and your controls are unfortunately the opposite in my opinion, but it's luckily an easy fix (remove the acceleration or make it faster).

2. The bullet you shoot ALWAYS have the same x-position as the spaceship. This makes it incredibly difficult to shoot anything down because you also have to dodge meteors and enemy bullets. I think the reason the bullets do this is because they're child objects of the spaceship

If these two "complaints" got fixed it would be a killer game for a 72-hour jam! This is also the reason I gave it a high score eventhough I found some design "errors".

Good luck in the future, and have a nice day

Spacy adventure by egordorichev 2017-08-03T11:22:21Z

This game is absolutelly gorgeous! The pixel art is awesome and consistent, there's been a lot of work put into polish and feedback to the user, the audio is simple and sweet (but fits the game!), the mechanics are solid and responsive. I have one small gripe though, and it is that it's sometimes a bit difficult to distingush background from enemy bullets and powerups - it might just be me. All in all, I loved this game! The best Ludum Dare 39 entry I have seen so far

We Made A Game While Camping by loadsofmana 2017-08-04T10:56:01Z

This game is bloody amazing! This was way better than I anticipated.

The music is really well made and so incredibly catchy.

The gameplay is more than just "juggle this generator between the three developers" as there's collectables, a mission, light puzzles etc.

The art isn't really my cup of tea, but A+ for the effort and being able to produce as much of it as you guys did.

Overall; well done guys! this was a very enjoyable experience, kudos for that

Thermal Power Plant K-13 by Finlal 2017-08-03T21:38:59Z

This game is bloody amazing! Everything from the graphics to the gameplay is so well done and polished. I don't have any ideas for improvements, other than it can be pretty difficult to start out sometimes because RNG messes you up after two trips to the point where you can't go on more trips because of a lack of food or gas.

Other than that, this game is fantastic - easily #1 potential for sure

No Sorcerer's Sky by TheFlyingKeyboard 2017-08-03T18:29:42Z

I like the graphics and the idea behind the game, but it took me several replays and readings through comments to realise how to even build a single building. The game is fun, but it feels very limiting in what it allows you to do (it feels very linear from my experience, might just be me), and it needs some feedback to the user regarding how many ressources you have (in the shop/crafting building), where to get specific ressources etc. Overall it's a really neat little game, if some of my complaints get adressed

Unobtainium by BinarySpark 2017-08-03T12:17:07Z

Good old motherload days! Thank you for bringing back those lovely memories. It's a lovely game with simple mechanics, a shame that there's a lack of audio but that's just how it is with the time constraints in a game jam.

The Magical Substance: Coffee by FunkyHippo 2017-08-03T12:04:18Z

That's a nice start! I don't know how you managed to carry a second pot - that shouldn't be in the game, haha, but who doesn't like some fun bug- I mean features!

I'm glad you liked the pixel art, especially since I'm not used to drawing. I had considered making it possible to buy extra coffee machines and pots, but had to lower the scoped because of time constraints. Have a nice day!

The Magical Substance: Coffee by FunkyHippo 2017-08-03T12:19:53Z

@linver Always start the coffee machine before you give the developers some coffee, that way you'll (almost) never run out of coffee ;)

QTechnologic Quest by BottledMajesticness 2017-08-04T10:31:08Z

Lovely music and a nice artstyle for a game this size (I especially liked the splashscreen after a completed level).

I found the gameplay to be a bit lacking for a couple of reason (eventhough the game has potential). First of all, it seems like the levels are randomly generated (?) but you have to close the game and open it again everytime you complete a level (because you can't get out of the splashscreen), which is a bit annoying. The levels also seem a bit too easy, there needs to be some additional obstacles/enemies (but I understand if it wasn't possible because of the time constraints).

Overall it's a nice little game, but the gameplay needs to be tweeked a bit

The Infinite Mine by SuperCrunchy 2017-08-03T12:46:31Z

It was a fun little game, I liked the concept a lot! I got pretty far as it's fairly easy to survive if you clump your miners in a few spots and spam shooters around them. I lost because I let the aliens overrun me as the game got very laggy - so a bit of optimization and you're good to go!

Scale of Life by ilya_kozlov 2017-08-04T09:56:58Z

I have absolutely no idea of what I just played, but it was very enjoyable nonetheless. The artstyle is pretty damn good and that together with the audio and goofy gameplay results in a cute little game experience

The Wiz by Michael Feldman 2017-08-03T10:54:17Z

Interesting idea, and a nice spin on the theme. The graphical side of the game was pleasing, not because it was the prettiest of pixel art, but it was nice and consistent.

It had some problems gameplay-wise with the controls since it had quite a few problems with reseting your input (especially when you tried to fly), which lead to me being stuck at some places where I had to jump 10+ times before it would let me fly. If the problems with the input gets fixed, then I would say it's a prety solid game

Very Fast Robot Rolling at High Speed by binary_coder 2017-08-03T20:20:51Z

Overall a really fun game! I love the mechanics with the speed and energy, and the graphics are gorgeous! As someone has already stated; the jumping is pretty broken on slopes which resulted in me not finishing the game, unfortunately. Other than that "small" bug this is an amazing game compared to the time limit

Torch Boy by FloBar 2017-08-03T11:29:00Z

Nice little game, well-functioning and easy to understand gameplay (reminds me a lot of super crate box). It's nice and responsive, and everything (art, audio etc.) fits together perfectly. And bloodyhell is it hard if you're a platformer-noob like me.. I loved it!

Prepare to Dive! by encinas.g 2017-08-03T19:49:20Z

This game has absolutelly beautiful graphics, but I find the gameplay quite lacking. What I don't like about the gameplay is that you're not able to see much of the world around you, which is pretty unintuitive considering you're supposed to explore the world and find the exit. My other problem is that the O2-bar depletes really fast (it does in level 2 - I didn't make it past this level), which is a problem when you take into consideration how difficult it is to find the exit, when you're barely able to see anything but your submarine.

There's no audio, which is a shame because it has potential to have an amazing atmosphere

Dash Guy by Defratino 2017-08-05T21:07:04Z

A really good entry for this years Ludum Dare that's for sure! It has some nice and fast gameplay

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

The Hoarder's Curse by FuriousWitch 2017-12-27T13:50:14Z

I can definitely see the idea and concept being fleshed out to a larger game, but there's a lot of improvements to be made to be honest.

First of all; the use of having the player increase the games' difficulty himself (in form of buying towers) is used well, as it's tied to the main mechanic. One of the major problems in this game is that there's nothing for the player to do other than buying towers (I had bought all of them on the 3 or 4 day, which is a balance issue I'll talk about in a minute). It would be nice if the player had some way to kill the thieves or if he had to repair the towers etc.

The second issue is the balancing of the game. As I mentioned before; I had all of the towers after day 3 or 4 which resulted in me standing still and watching some television until the game told me I had won. The player needs to be able to buy more/other towers, upgrade the towers or something similar and he shouldn't be able to buy them as quickly.

Fix these two major problems and you're on your way to a fun game which I could imagine being played on sites like Kongregate and Itch. I also like the voxel-based graphics :)

Good luck in the future and well done!

Flavo Submarine - Ashes to Ashes by Thirrash 2017-12-09T21:53:58Z

Overall a weird but entertaining game. I like the chain mechanic and it has some nice graphics considering the time at your disposal. I have a few notes though: I found it very difficult to see when torpedos and bombs are gonna hit me and I found it difficult to pick up wagons with the chain. I also kept running into a bug where I couldn't spawn another chain

Smack`Em! by mess110 2017-12-04T19:44:25Z

Absolutelly beautiful game! The gameplay is fast, action-packed and rewarding. Got 178 on my second try!
