good game. I think if you tried to put i bit more work into the graphics it would be a great game :)

@doorless thanks! Yeah I'm not really an artist this is the best I can afford :D
Nice graphics and sounds, gameplay is simple and fun, but gets repetitive very fast some pickups or events would definitelly add to it.
Great job! I like the style but it's really hard to play from the begininig. A bit of progression would be good. Also is a bit hard to deliver the coal in the locomotive
Besides a couple of nitpicks I have (such as the clouds being behind the sun and classical unity "getting stuck vertically when walking towards a wall"), looks and sound nice, just need some variety to keep it engaging.
You did a good job on keeping the style and goal simple. Now obviously the physics are quite buggy and the "success" seems to be bound to a lot of factors which the player can't influence, and I think that's the main problem with this game. But it's a working game, with a goal and a score, and you made it in 48 hours! As for the music, I actually found it quite interesting to listen to. Quite fitting for a game that doesn't require a lot of "thinking power". The rhythm is quite engaging, but I think the instrumentation could use some more layering (or maybe not, I'm not an expert...). The smoke from the furnace is a very nice detail. Overall, for your second LD, you can be quite proud of this!
Overall a nice little game compared to the time available to the task. I like the cute graphics and mechanics - they're pretty nice and have a good scope for a 48-hour game. I do believe however, that the coal-meter declined waaaaay too fast, as it seemed to only be possible to make two or three trips no matter what you did.
Regarding the audio; I think it's very out of place to be honest. I would have liked to see some kind of western/cowboy music (and a banjo!)
@theflyingkeyboard yeah i have to add some events for get some longevity.Tnx for feedback
@joskineide yeah i know it's annoying i'm trying to fix this bug. Tnx for feedback
@phi really thanks , for this LD i wanted to add all the features such as music and a bit more "cool" graphics. yeah i know that i need to add some more features :) . Tnx!
@funkyhippo Tnx ! Yes the coal-meter declined really fast , i've tried to fix that but with no result . Ahahha for the music i understand , at the beginning i wanted to add some more western style and at least only the train seem like a western train ahah
thank you guys for the feedback!
Pretty good game.
The graphics are very nice and fit together perfectly. I think the music is a bit annoying and I didn't really want to listen to it on repeat the entire time.
The gameplay is simple and would be pretty fun, but I think I really suck at this game. I constantly get stuck everywhere. I go to get the coal, try to unload it and fall through the floor. And when I don't I still only make like 2 trips before I lose. I think this really needs to be a bit easier.
Overall I like the idea a lot though. Good work.
I really like the look and mood of this game. I think you did a great job with the train and the background and everything. Its a bit too hard though, I find I can only make 3 trips at most. The background track is pretty cool too but could use a bit of variation. Might be worth adding a few features and taking a quick balance pass after this is over with.
Love it! :) Was a little hard, but the graphics were great! Nice job!!
It's an interesting concept, but I had a hard time delivering coal more than a few times before losing because I just couldn't move faster, and I kept having problems with jumping and getting stuck between the cars. Overall, not bad though!
Nice idea, beautiful style, funny art and music. But It is not fun. All I can do in this game is to load coal into the engine 1-2 times before I lose. That's all...
Loved the concept and graphics, but it's a little hard for my liking. A solid game overall.
Guys thanks for the feedback! I fixed the coal meter . So hope you enjoy
I kept getting stuck trying to escape from the engine after loading coal into it, and the main character's movement was quite "floaty". It would have been cool if there had been other hazards, such as the occasional bridge to duck under.
I appreciated the distinctive graphical style.
Keep at it.
Simple game, but absolutely not bad for your second LD! It's quite an achievement to be able to just publish something in 48h, so be proud :grinning:
The graphics are well done, and I appreciate the presence of small details like the animation of the character or the fire in the locomotive.
The only negative point (as also other people said) is the "getting stuck on a wall" issue (that's probably the fault of Unity - I had some strange behavior with unity physics before) and the, most importantly, the repetitiveness of the gameplay.
I think that you just may have needed 1 or 2 "events" happening randomly during gameplay (the train splitting in half? a bridge coming in? whatever is ok) and it may have been much more fun than right now. I also understand that 48h is not much time for doing crazy complex gameplay...
On the wall issue, next time you may want to consider doing some geometrical calculation by yourself, (even though it takes way way more time than just putting a rigidbody on the player, so I don't know how well suited this option is for a LD). If the objects are rectangular and all oriented in the same direction is not difficult to do, and you can also learn how collision calculation works (and you may be able to tweak behavior even more than unity allows :D)
I hope you had some fun in doing it and maybe a good opportunity to learn something new :grinning:
See you next LD!
Good entry. You should be proud, but it was a bit sad, the getting stuck kind of dragged it down! Maybe you can improve it next time! (I had the same problem last LD)
If you provide a Linux build I would like to play the game, running the game using Wine doesn't display text properly unfortunately.
