Stunning style, as always. Gameplay also has some great potential to be engaging as heck, but there are a few balance issues and too much dependence on luck, about of which you probably know. Also, after restarting via F2 the game window jumps in the awkward left-corer position of the screen without even being fully visible (resolution is 1366x768). Anyway, thanks for the game!

alexandr-androiddev 2017-08-02 19:18

nick-blackwood 2017-08-02 21:03

dene 2017-08-02 22:06

Nice game :) Despite slow and not so dynamic gameplay and some bugs, I played it for a half of hour or maybe more. Maybe that's because of art, it's outstanding!

michaeltwg 2017-08-03 13:11

Superb graphics and I do love your cover but I can't understand how to build the metal thing necessary to build a house?

ferran-benavente 2017-08-03 15:51

Very interesting game, I really like it. It's quite confusing the first minutes of the game, but when you start undertanding what to do it becomes a different game. The music and art style are impressive, well done! Plus I haven't found any bug or error except that the game doesn't go full-screen.

I would suggest to write a bit of a tutorial or explanation, it doesn't have to be too long, and I would give a bit more feedback about what the objects you find in the wasteland do (what resource you are going to get).

Overall an excelent game! Congratulations!!

funkyhippo 2017-08-03 21:38

This game is bloody amazing! Everything from the graphics to the gameplay is so well done and polished. I don't have any ideas for improvements, other than it can be pretty difficult to start out sometimes because RNG messes you up after two trips to the point where you can't go on more trips because of a lack of food or gas.

Other than that, this game is fantastic - easily #1 potential for sure

roka-josh 2017-08-04 13:43

Really good job, the art is beautiful, and the gameplay is generally well done. It would be better if there was a clearer explanation of what you have to do at first. Overall, really good job and best of luck!

sublustris 2017-08-04 13:59

andreu 2017-08-04 14:02

The art, sound, and the overall atmosphere is beautiful! A bit hard to get on first contact but great entry anyway. I'm already Following you on twitter to see what else you do :)

mr-houdini 2017-08-04 14:37

The mood of this game is so cool and profesional. Great art, nice idea and music too. the is this balance issues, witch you probably know. I waste too much time (and one game) to understand what everything did and represented. Maybe a little explanation at the Ludum Dare description would help.

But as I said this has the appearence of a full game, so congratulations! PD: What is going on with the girls in the cover? Seems like a clikbait haha.

Great job, good luck!

wesxdz 2017-08-04 15:08

I'm a huge fan of the pixel art and chiptunes audio. I think the beginning could be sped up a bit, I wasn't able to get more vehicles for quite a while. The game did an amazing job invoking a sense of fear, I was so paranoid when my entire commune depended on a single snowmobile venture to find food.

kiirohanabi 2017-08-04 15:26

The atmosphere is soothing and on point, which help to wait for actions to end. Amazing graphics for a jam and the gameplay seems to be complex and developped. I lost twice because I didn't have food, or maybe I missed something.

I'd definitely wait for you to make something bigger!

zdeno 2017-08-04 17:03

Hello, At the beginning I was struggling to find out how to play the game. Small tutorial would be really beneficial in this case. Also I think that if vehicles moved faster the gameplay would feel much smoother.

To the good part..I love the atmosphere that you managed to create! You have done a really great job with those visuals and sounds.

Thank you for sharing the game with us!

galan 2017-08-04 17:56

This game just feels good. The visuals, the audio, the mood: all great.

I do agree with people that it could be sped up a bit. Some explanation for the different resources, and for the resources that you get for each item, would be nice as well. Still, amazing game.

bombjack 2017-08-04 18:08

the art is really good. the gameplay is a little slow to my personal taste

a333 2017-08-04 19:31

I've had a lot of fun playing this game. Graphics are superb, nice strategy feel, lots of interesting stuff to find and explore.

The only nit is the grinding and difficulty issues. Far too easy to lose in the beginning, just because you've met several wolves and miss food/fuel necessary for another trip. And tediousness of the beginning stage discourages from taking another try.

zeriver 2017-08-04 19:38

Incredibly good looking game, pixel art style is just beautiful. Audio also is in on point, sets great atmosphere. Gameplay kinda reminds me of Oregon Trail (at least traveling and random encounters). I like how you can slowly expand your village and you have more vehicles to scavenge nearby places. Although there could be some kind of small tutorial in game, just to get player on right tracks what to do. In overall really cool game with amazing graphics.

spetsdod 2017-08-04 20:53

This is a very amazing game, but I've found a problem early in where you can run out of the resources necessary to explore the outlying posts preventing you from obtaining the resources necessary to continue. What I was able to play though was fantastic. The music was perfect. The graphics are beautiful. The gameplay seems complex enough to be challenging, but easy enough to pick up quickly. I appreciate that you made a WebGL version, saving me the hassle of having to install the game. Thank you for the game, and congratulations on a well done game.

kr4ft3r 2017-08-04 23:51

Beautiful game tho it needs a lot info popups on mouse hover to explain what buttons do or what resource each icon represents. Running out of gas happens rather quickly and I'm not sure if that is how it is supposed to happen or I'm doing something wrong. In any case you did very well for such an ambitious project.

sbeif 2017-08-04 23:54

Beautiful graphics and apparently some nice mechanics but you really need to add a small tutorial, at least in the description because I didn't understand what half of the symbols mean or what I was supposed to do (maybe it's just me). I think that if it was a bit more clear it could be a great game (at least it looks like it from the large amount of details you put in)

peachtreeoath 2017-08-05 08:58

As usual, you guys have produced another top notch game. Everything about it suggests your team is a professional one, or at least extremely well trained amateurs. The thing I find the most incredible is that you have a decently complex idea going on here, yet I was able to learn the entire game without a tutorial. This is very hard to achieve in LD and you managed to do it. Bravo guys, I always look forward to your games.

nokusu 2017-08-05 10:14

Very impressive entry that has great atmosphere, a nice take on the strategy genre, and the artic setting really goes like bread and butter with the power theme

**Positive stuff :** - The graphics look amazing, every little sprite is full of detail - The soundtrack is really cool and really installs the strong survival mood of the game - The overall concept is really nice and the setting is quite original - The quick restart button

**Negative stuff :** - Even tough the interface is quite clear, a bit of tutorial would help to learn the mechanics of the game

Not much else to say really, this could totally be a full retail game with some missions, and maybe have the rng based maps as a bonus endless mode for replayability

Outstanding job guys :)

jandoka 2017-08-06 09:51

I like the game! I think that there are so many different ways how to play the game and it is nice. The graphic and music are also nice. For me would be helpfull some tutorial or help for the start of the game. Also I would like to have faster movements during the game, but it is only my opinion. I like the game. Amazing job!

markwolf 2017-08-07 05:16

Unfortunatly I do not have the time to test it fully, but the overall is fine, from the concept to the graphics and music. I would add a tutorial on-line and maybe speed up the game pace.

mike-cullingham 2017-08-07 05:29

Wow, I played this for quite a while. Definitely has balance issues with randomness. But it sucked me in to play several times before I got on a roll (at least for a while before I got stuck without gas... can't I go out on foot? :-)). Very nice job.

raaaahman 2017-08-07 09:09

Really nice game. I like the management mechanics even though it took a while for me to understand them. For example I realized very late that the filling bar was the electricity, looking like a thermometer I believed it was the temperature.

The limit of one building per category seems to limit the use of materials, and I ended with plenty in the end. I was able to quit the encounters before their end so I didn't suffer their consequences. Wolves attacks seemed too random, maybe they should be more frequent/harder while you go further on the map.

If you want to continue building that game, maybe an event system could break the monotony of the resources stockpiling.

Anyway, that's a very good entry you've made here, good job!

slovnoslomo 2017-08-07 10:58

I really enjoyed the game! Also I am a huge fan of your artstyle :) And the setting is so atmospheric.

A word about balance — even I liked it is hardcore, the game was too random for me in the begining (around 10 runs till some progression) and too easy after mid game.

Also there are a couple interface problems. To be more specific: 1. It's hard to get where excactly encounters happens and what impact do they have. Both for fights and for resource changes. 2. Resourses and buttons are ungrouped and their meaning is not clear. Easy solution is just to rearrange and group them up. Also you can add tips on hover.

I made a quick mockup with solution option to explain the idea:

ui.png There are 3 semantic groups of resourses here — people, expedition and building. Also a «warm-up» action is moved closer to what it's change and icon changed to resource that is consumed.

Despite all this the game is awesome! Good luck if you are going to finish it.

schu 2017-08-08 20:15

Very interesting. Loved the art style and sound! It was a little difficult to figure out what to do at the start.

jotson 2017-08-09 19:05

Looks and sounds great. No idea how to do anything.

simplepotential 2017-08-19 13:16

I love what I think is suppose to be going on here but alas I really have no idea how to control it. I managed to get a snowmobile moving once and from there it seemed like I was out of resources and couldn't ever figure out how to get more. A tutorial or some instructions would have been really nice and I see what looks like it could be an amazing entry.

On the plus side, music is great and the graphics look really good. I can tell a lot of effort went into this.

ijona 2017-08-20 01:57

shess 2017-08-20 17:13

Lovely graphics! I included it in my Ludum Dare 39 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHHnWvZj4oQ
