Wow, that's one very innovative idea (though I can see a GameBoy reference out there ;p), nice! Also, pretty good at other aspects, but I can see some improvements that could be done (I'll refer GBA to in-game console): 1. Graphics outside the game - I think more detailed 3d/smooth world around would look really neat. 2. Also, this game can be a part of a larger meta-game with coolecting those batteries in "real" world. 3. Other genres - puzzles, like match-3 (huehuehue) or some slow-paced actions like Space Invaders. 3. I can see that some part of GBA screen is actually moving along with hands (UI part), while game elements stay at the same place - looks kinda weird. 4. Saved games doesn't persist between restarts. 5. Input can be done in such way that GBA receives input AFTER hand animation finishes - I guess it will look more natural but I'm not sure if usability will improve.

Anyway, Mishanya, eto top.

GAME UPDATE: Fixed Z-sorting of the first Slime at Level 5 of WebGL build. Other builds were OK.

@razenpok Thank you for your huge feedback. I agree with your 5 ideas, but I don't like the idea to add other games, coz it will be VERY hard to play.

prettylucky 2017-08-01 17:54

I got stumped on level 5, but that was awesome!:D

Switching the brightness to alter the game was cool and you pulled off that retro style. The commentary was funny. How many times did I have to lose before it says "Who made this game? I'm sweating my ass off!" Haha

igorsgames 2017-08-01 19:15

Hey, man! I really liked the game, great that you can find the way around with the audio effects in the dark and not only by memory! This is now my favourite game this jam so far! Keys 14/14, feeling a hero after beating the last level completely with the screen off :D

But: - the controls are not very convenient, the mouse here is odd, only keyboard suffices (we made this mistake in a couple of games); - there is a bug: if level is finished with power off, the visuals show it as "off" in the start of the next level, but it actually "on"; - you can move some turns after the trap kills you.

linver 2017-08-02 08:48

@igorsgames Oh, you really played our game A LOT! Thank you very much for controls suggestion - yes, it's a bad UX and I will not do this mistake in the future. @prettylucky Yes, a lot of my friends got stuck at Level 5 too. It looks like a game-blocker problem. So...

GAME UPDATE: Show a hint when you meet the first Smile.

gamepopper 2017-08-02 12:54

This is incredibly innovated and clever use of the theme, the controls took me a while to get used to but I managed to get through a few of the levels. I can imagine if you wanted some extra difficulty, you can let the player disable audio for even more reduced energy, but make it especially challenging in rooms where sound would be important.

There is definitely a lot of potential with this idea!

2017-08-02 19:02

Really cool use of the theme. It reminded me the adventures I had while trying to play my GameBoy. hahahah

ganbaregameskyle 2017-08-03 01:47

This is one of the best uses of the theme I can think of. And the puzzles are fun too! There's a lot of design space with that core gameplay.

funkyhippo 2017-08-03 21:48

5/5! I looove this idea, and it's executed to perfection! Everything about this game is so well done, and it's a really brilliant design with the console battery-mechanic

grandtheftmarmot 2017-08-03 23:00

5/5 in all. Loved it! This was such a cool idea, and executed perfectly. Bravo!

2017-08-06 22:55

Memory game indeed! Little tricky but overall fun to play and was a super fantastic idea! I loved the 3 levels of the screen and how you need to use each one at different times! Nice.

gagapete 2017-08-07 18:47

Wow, I just played through the whole game. I's addictive and a true challenge. Yeeeeas!

linver 2017-08-09 09:00

@gamepopper Yes, it's a good idea if I will want to make the game harder. But really, I am wanting to make it more casual now

@ionthas @gagapete @drums @grandtheftmarmot @funkyhippo @ganbaregameskyle I like your like! It was very surprising after we made a puzzle at LD. You know, this combo usually doesn't work.

shell-pirate 2017-08-09 12:03

One of the better entries I've played this LD! The graphics within the console game were very good and stylized but where it lacked is with the outside graphics - the hands looked out of place with the much more simplistic art for the console itself which wasn't helped by the blurry edges they had. I'd just suggest sticking to one consistent visual aesthetic for the outside world. The music was nice but I do wish that it wasn't cut off so frequently by adjusting power usage. I understand why you did it, but it'd be nice if you found a way around that. The core gameplay is where it really shined - this is probably one of the most original and fleshed out takes on the theme I've seen so far. Everything worked well, it was challenging and with enough variety to not get boring. The only suggestion I can make is to just keep adding content on top of what's already here and is great. All in all, very very good entry!

edwingamedev 2017-08-09 16:46

123456789.PNG I loved your game, the best i played and I want more! The art, mechanics, sounds, everything are great! Good job!

2017-08-09 22:01

This is a really smart way to integrate the power theme. The juxtaposition between the slick pixel art screen and realistic hands is neat, too.

The puzzle design is also pretty clever -- though the game does have one major underlying flaw: The mechanic can be wholly avoided through memorization or simple trial / error. Despite this, its still a great idea that could certainly be expanded upon.

david-allen 2017-08-10 00:46

I really liked this game! Definitely one of my favorites. The puzzle mechanic is really simple but effective. And, I definitely tried maximizing the life of my GBA by doing stuff like this, back in the day. The only thing that makes me sad about the game is that eventually just turns into a game of memorization, rather than one of resource management. I'm not entirely sure how you'd fix that, but I'd love to see you try.

antiwrapper 2017-08-10 01:29

Really cool game, wow! The idea and concept behind it is perfect and the execution is really good. I found this game very challenging but I kept playing it until I beat it because I enjoyed playing it and figuring out the levels so much. The graphics were awesome and I really liked the level design. I also like the fact that almost each level brought in a new mechanic so it never got repetitive. Great work!

kuz 2017-08-10 09:43

Very nice concept! But the game display looks small ;)

yuigoto 2017-08-18 06:36

This is really different, in every good sense of the word! :O The pixelated graphics, the sounds and the handheld remembered me about my Game Gear phase! That fucker ate batteries like a drain in a bathtub! :stuck_out_tongue: But these were also really good times, as it was my first console.

The use of the theme is really clever and different and managing the game, while also playing it was really a challenge! I had to play with a small note and pen by my side! :P

Great job! Really!

phlip45 2017-08-22 18:52

Congrats on number 1!

linver 2017-08-22 23:44

Wow! Thank you!

Really, I am very happy that you take good emotions from my game!

justinooncx 2017-08-23 13:24

Haha! Indeed, great minds think alike, @linver! Congratulations on taking the #1 spot; the polish and gameplay is really great!

Very innovative expirience. Congrats on number 1!

If you have been playing at online casinos for a long time, you probably know that one of the most iconic slots is Sizzling Hot. Its atmosphere resembles an old casino. You can read more about this classic fruit slot in this article https://polski-sloty.com/sizzling-hot/. On this site, you can also find out where you can play the free no deposit version.
