LD38 — A Small World

Enlarge your planet ! by LeReveur 2017-05-16T18:25:59Z

Cool concept like other have said but I do have to say that it was unclear what to do. Only after reading your comments did I realize how everything works. But with clearer instructions and some more polish, like music, it would be a really awesome game! Awesome work regardless and I know how it feels to not have enough time (I also did not have enough time for my game) so good luck and I hope you get more time next Ludum Dare.

Tub of War by quill18 2017-05-06T09:02:05Z

Just an awesome game again. The controls are fluent and feel very good, it is easy to pick and play and it is fun to play. Just an amazing game overall. The only negative that stands out for me is the music. It is not bad but nothing special.

Little Rocks in the Sky by acotis 2017-05-15T12:10:43Z

This was a nice simple game.

Exploring the planets was fun thanks to the physics and jumping between planets and thank god for that map in the right corner. Without that getting lost would be very nice. Other than that the game could use more polish like sound, better graphics but the biggest thing missing for me was a bit of challenge. Maybe some kind of obstacle or enemy to overcome but I guess you ran out of time and the most important thing is that the core mechanic is fun which it was.

Great work!

Small World Simulator by Rialgar 2017-05-13T17:26:04Z

Like other have said, it was interesting to watch the simulation. Maybe a little bit of music would have really sold the mood. Other than that a bit of interaction would also be nice.

Great work!

Parvus Mundi by Antiwrapper 2017-05-01T21:19:30Z

@tyranosaw I'm glad that you enjoyed my little game, always nice to know that someone enjoyed it!

The lack of polish in this game is mostly due to the time constraint I had because I was on holiday but I don't really feel like continue working on this game. The code is very messy because I rushed it and I have some other projects to work on right now.

But thanks for the video, was still very interesting to watch! Good luck with your game!

Exoman by Rother Games 2017-05-16T16:40:50Z

Very fun to play! Loved running in all rampage mode and destroying everything.

Though it felt a bit cheap that the enemy would start shooting you before you saw them. I often had to shoot enemies I did not even get to see and it was not as much fun bulldozing buildings by powering through them when I realised it hurt me. I'm freaking EXOMAN, of course I should be able to bulldoze my way through everything. This meant that if I wanted to get far I would always have to inch my way forward, because there is no way to dodge incoming projectiles, and shoot enemies off-screen or I would just run in there having more fun.

Regardless though, it was still very fun to play with good visuals and music. Great work!

ChronoCombat by omarshehata 2017-05-15T11:54:02Z

Played with a friend and had a lot of fun.

We did not read the explanation so we thought the netcode was horrible at first because of all the waiting for other players and the rewinding but then we understood what was going on and it became insanely fun. The game could of course need some more polish and maybe some audio to make it a more complete game but the core mechanic is really fun and that is the most important thing.

Great work!

Run, U Fool! by zgragselus 2017-05-13T18:57:56Z

The graphics and gameplay is superb! Really enjoyed playing this game. It is simple, easy to get into and fun which is a huge plus especially in Ludum Dare.

The mood in the game was really good thanks to the excellent graphics and music but was ruined a bit by the text and menu in the game. The font and menu did not really fit in with the theme inside the game. My biggest gripe though with this game is the camera because I always felt the angle was a bit awkard. Another thing that was a bit annoying was that on some stages you needed to be a color to get into the room with the teleporter but you never got that color because of rng. But those are just some minor points. Other than that it is really good.

Awesome work!

Hop Up by PietPtr 2017-05-15T10:11:35Z

Liked the art style and really liked the animation. It really made the game look a lot better and more fluent. Then the camera started rotating and all the flashing colors really made it looked cool.

The gameplay itself is very fun and I like the idea of the multiplayer. It is a very simple game but fun and it has some replay value. Music and some sound effects would have been great. Also more different obstacles too spice up the gameplay.

But great work regardless!

Train World by mar3k 2017-05-13T17:20:58Z

The art style was really good and the opening was really well made. It had some humor and enough atmoshpere to capture you.

The gameplay worked ok but it felt like it missed a little bit of strategy. Maybe an extra ability or something would have been nice because it felt that you just clicked on attack all the time and using as little items as possible until the boss. Also it became a little repetetive with the same layouts a couple of times.

Overall an enjoyable game thanks to the story and overall atmosphere and great graphics but lacked a bit in the gameplay.

Flicker of Hope by Lucas Ferrantelli 2017-05-13T20:46:45Z

I really enjoyed this game. Good graphics and audio with satisfying controls.

You really feel the atmosphere in this game, especially when you are defending the altars. The tempo change in the music and overall look of the scene really brings out the mood. The controls also feel very good and responsive. One thing though that is a bit annoying is the low field of view. It is so easy to take damage from an enemy you did not have time to react to and it feels a bit cheap. But that is just a minor point and overall the gameplay is very fun.

Awesome work!

Tabletop Arena by tyranosaw 2017-05-01T21:45:04Z

Loved the art and the general polish of the game. Was very fun to play and overall very good. One thing I did not like as much was the fact that your character takes time to turn and pretty long time to attack. I know that it increases the difficulty and makes the game a bit more challenging that way but it did not feel as satisfying. Other than that I enjoyed it very much!

X-Pressed Delivery by GabrielBucsan 2017-05-16T18:33:21Z

Haha, awesome idea and good execution. Was very fun to play and I really liked the humor. My only criticism of the game is the lack of music and a little lack of polish but those are just some minor points. Still enjoyed this game a lot. Great work!

Neon Genesis Pluto by Avocadosan 2017-05-16T18:40:19Z

This game is too dank for me!

Nah, but seriously I liked the humor in this game and loved the subtle references (like vape nation). The graphics and audio are amazing and the gameplay is simple, challenging and fun. It is a very nicely done game and was happy too see that someone else is also using Godot.

Great work and good luck! Really enjoyed this one.

LD38: A Space Odyssey by datMarv 2017-05-15T11:27:07Z

Very fun and creative game!

Was very enjoyable to play but my biggest problems with this is the ui and selection. I don't know if it was just a problem at my end but it was sometimes hard to select things and it did some things you did not want it to do.

But other than that great work!

Place Them All by Yami no tenshi 8 2017-05-13T20:32:59Z

Excellent idea and execution. A very good puzzle game with lots of replay value.

The interactions are fun to watch and the music brings the right kind of mood to the game and is okay to listen to. The sound effects are very good and it feels like a very polished game overall. Easy to pick and play but with lots of depth and it is very fun and rewarding figuring out which combinations of neighbours works best and which resources to give to each tribe. Overall it just feels very polished!

Well done!

This is the End: Small World by namrog84 2017-05-15T10:02:04Z

Liked the ending, was nice to see some humor.

Playing this game was very enjoyable. Maybe the mechanics could have been explained a bit better, still don't know how the adjacent bonuses works and maybe a bit more challenging. It was very fun figuring out the game but in the end I just realized that I could just buy more and more nuclear plants and then skip a couple of turns to win the game. So the problem according to me is the balancing, not the mechanics themselves.

But like I said earlier, it was still fun to play which is most important. Great work!

Intergalactic Lemonade Inc. by kawales 2017-05-16T18:59:40Z

Really well done game. Feels very polished with nice looking art and music.

The idea was fun and I enjoyed playing this game a lot. My negative points about this game is though that you often have to make a lot of trips to the same items, you can't see yourself on the map and there is no real lose condition. Maybe a time trial were you try to get through as many quests as possible. Maybe some upgrades for your ship would also be nice or some kind of enemies or obstacles that makes it a bit more challenging. But like I said earlier, the idea is still fun and the game is very well polished.

Great work and good luck!

Tiny Hero by arch-a-type 2017-05-13T19:34:15Z

Really nice game. Easy to pick up and fun to play but there is still some depth to it. Which enemy to attack first, when to stun them, what to upgrade etc.

It is a bit challenging but for this kind of game I think that is a very good thing because it forces you to restart a couple of times and try diffrent things. Also nice to see someone else using Godot.

Keep up the good work!

Meteor Mania by Selgeron 2017-05-13T18:36:09Z

A nice polished arcade game. The music and art was really good and it was fun to play. Maybe diffrent enemy types or additional powerups would have been nice but it is still really good. As other have mentioned it felt a bit cheap when a fast meteor just suddenly appeared on the side of the screen and you could not react to it, maybe an indicator would have been nice.

Good work regardless, keep it up!

Pond of Doom by symmsaur 2017-05-16T18:16:49Z

Haha, awesome little game. Good work with the psuedo 3D ducks, locked really nice. It is a simple small game that works well but it could obviously need more polish. But awesome work anyways!

LD39 — Running out of Power

Pipe Trek by quill18 2017-08-02T17:26:25Z

Very nice idea and pretty good execution. It was a little rough around the edges but still fun to play. Awesome work!

[Web] Apocalyptic Gamer by Linver 2017-08-10T01:29:19Z

Really cool game, wow! The idea and concept behind it is perfect and the execution is really good. I found this game very challenging but I kept playing it until I beat it because I enjoyed playing it and figuring out the levels so much. The graphics were awesome and I really liked the level design. I also like the fact that almost each level brought in a new mechanic so it never got repetitive. Great work!

Inferno by Megalink 2017-08-06T12:09:33Z

Just an amazing game right here. Lots of content for a Ludum Dare game and I replayed it many times which is a very good thing for a Ludum Dare game. The gameplay is very fun and addicting and the visual feedback combined with the killer soundtrack is just glorious. It is a near perfect game for Ludum Dare.

Is Your Refrigerator Running? by urbanhelsing 2017-08-13T15:54:27Z

Really liked the humor the game had. The controls did feel a little awkard though. Precision jumping when you are not able to control that much in mid air is not so much fun. Not moving along with moving platforms were also a bit weird. Other than that though it was fun and the narrator added much to the game. Good work!

Scarcity of Superpowers by Pavel Kouril 2017-08-06T11:46:27Z

Playing this was very fun and I liked this overall. The graphics are pretty good and the concept itself is also pretty good. Often when you have a game with multiple abilities it often becomes that you only want to use one ability all the time but I liked how you solved it by making each ability pretty good but then limiting them so you were forced to use all the abilities in different situations. It also worked out as a pretty clever use of the theme.

The audio wasn't as good though and the game became a bit repetitive because no new enemies or anything else new happened.

Overall though I liked it, good work!

You Discharge, You Lose by boddiul 2017-08-06T14:51:01Z

Awesome game! Simple to pick up and play and very fun while still being challenging. Good core mechanics and pretty good graphics make this a very strong entry. The sound effects could have been a bit better and some music would have also been nice but besides that there is nothing to major to complain about. Good work!

Decarathon by TurbotFish 2017-08-05T17:26:16Z

Very well made and fun! Love the graphics coupled with the music and the game itself is pretty challenging in a good way! It became a bit repetitive towards the end but overall I like it very much with nothing big to complain about.

idk by ulydev 2017-08-11T10:59:31Z

Excellent game! Very simple but fun to play and very challenging. My best was around 7000. Loved the music and the transitions were very smooth which really made it feel like this game was very polished! Great work!

Aphelion by vulpineblazeyt 2017-08-06T11:59:27Z

I liked the story that was told while you were playing, that was a nice touch. Also the idea of not being able to fire all the time is a really good one because it makes you think a bit before you shoot which often is not the case with space shooters. Though it was pretty easy and not much variety, would like to see some more enemies and maybe a powerup or two. Overall though I liked it. And the music was funky!

Electronic Supremacy by damdoshi 2017-08-10T01:06:29Z

Really fun game right here! Reminded me a bit of old flash tower defence games I used to play. The gameplay was interesting and fun to figure out. It was still a bit challenging after you learned how the game worked which is good in my opinion. The sound effects and the music was awesome but the graphics could use a little work. Overall though, great job!

Mower Storms by dracominer 2017-08-02T15:58:46Z

Fun game to play with cute cutscenes but the UI was a bit wonky and it took a while before you figured out exactly what to do. A tutorial stage would have been very nice. Though it was very nice to see the diffrent difficulties so you could start on the easier ones and then move upwards. Nice work!

lit by M-1 2017-08-05T17:19:27Z

Simple and fun game, I like it. Though it became a bit repetitive pretty fast because no extra challenge or mechanic was added. A game doesn't become better just because you add a bunch of mechanics or features but in this case with such a simple game it could certainly use something extra to spice it up in the later levels. Though very nice work with the procedural generation!

South by zchen 2017-08-06T11:35:50Z

It was a nice little experience. Pretty fun but it became a little to repetitive too fast though it became pretty challenging which I liked. The mood and atmosphere in the game could really use some music but you still get a bit of creepy vibrations. Good work!

The Overseer by jmholland96 2017-08-06T15:47:20Z

It was a bit confusing at first getting into the game but after playing it for a while I got the hang of it, I think. A really fun concept executed well. Though it seemed that later on in the game the enemies got glitched because they attacked from off the screen and it even if you sniped them they would always continue to attack you which made it impossible. Also some music would have been nice.

Other than that though this is a very good game and a very strong entry! Good work!

Lost Cluster by Raymoclaus 2017-08-10T01:38:30Z

Simple but very relaxing and peaceful game. One thing though that brought this game down a bit is the controls. Normally you usually turn using the A and D keys in these top-down space ship games. Using the WASD keys to go straight in those directions did not feel good at all. The controls were not that bad after you got used to them but the still felt awkard to use. Other than that though I really liked the mood in the game and the music was almost a bit chilling. Very nice work there!

Funkotron 5k by Jannes Nagel 2017-08-02T15:38:43Z

An extremely well made game right here.

Love the intro scene and the humor and the graphics are overall very good. Love the animation on the funkotron and the game itself is very easy to pick and play but still fun. Was a little confused first over the beat bars because I did not realise that the black bars on the side was the actual beat. Thought they were just a camera effect. It would also be nice if the intro scene could be skippable because I replayed it a few times and it became a bit boring waiting through it each time. The movement was also a bit awkard because it seemed that you always got stuck in everything.

Other than that though it was extremely fun to play! Awesome work!

Simple Lunar Lander Esque Game by OboShape 2017-08-11T11:09:54Z

Nice work! The controls felt very good and even though the game was quite challenging it was still fun to play through. Some quick improvements would be that you can skip the tutorial, maybe add some effect when dying and adding some graphics for the battery to indicate better that they actually are batteries. But very good job considering this is your first Ludum Dare!

ANSWER ME! by Viliar 2017-08-06T11:53:02Z

Wow, really fun game! The concept is great and is well executed. It's basically just a typing game but it tells a story which I love. I actually don't have anything big to complain about except that I like to see more of this in the future! Awesome work!
