Oh I always wanted a exoskeleton to *cough* help them. Great game!

paulhocker 2017-05-02 04:59

that was great fun - although i figured out that if you stay just out of range and spam the grenades its easy to finish a leve without much damage. great game

khorm 2017-05-03 15:42

It's great to be the monster every now and then and I liked crushing the tiny people. I think I ran into some kind of bug where after the houses stopped I could go on for a long time and once in a while find a running little dude to kill. The music was strangley cheery while I was slaughtering whole towns but this was really quite fun to play.

kothead 2017-05-03 15:42

Nice entry! After several levels, I discovered a tactics. You can walk forward a little and then go back spamming grenades. They will reach buildings, but exoskeleton will be safe from enemy bullets. Don't know why, but I passed 20 levels in this way. Hoped for the ending. But I guess this game is endless =)

What a crazy bullet hell game. I liked it. Good fun mowing down people and houses. Pretty nice pixel art with the houses coming apart.

It did get a little repetitive after a few levels, and the more gun-speed and grenade-speed you got, it pretty much became a walking simulator (discovered that shooting high and grenading low seemed to be a viable tactic).

Overall, it was a solid compo game that offered a fun time playing.

sleepystudios 2017-05-05 08:57

Surprisingly satisfying! Felt fun to bounce around and just fire off grenades. Liked the animations when buildings got destroyed that definitely added to it.

udo 2017-05-06 00:44

That was great! There's a bug that stopped all sounds from playing after a few minutes, but I just kept playing. "Exoskeleton"? It's more like a giant death robot! This was great fun to play, very good job indeed for the Compo!

I think this is the first entry I've seen written in PureBasic, very cool

Rampage!............on crack!

I will upvote any giant city destruction game, I thought it was pretty fun even if it was simple. I was hoping I would visibly see the upgrades work, especially with attack speed. Dunno if it actually went up but I pumped a lot of money into that. The upgrades were a good decision, I'm impressed you have some people playing through 20 levels above me.

eli-delventhal 2017-05-09 17:24

Nice, another Rampage-style game (mine is also). Unfortunately I don't have a Windows machine so can't play, but the screenshots and concept look great.

carlosvvk 2017-05-12 14:30

I liked it but I didn't know my objective... Kill everybody or reach a goal? Maybe it should be clearer at some point. Great entry!

arch-a-type 2017-05-13 18:29

Very nice game, the sprites and effects are great, especially the crumbling buildings! You have a good core concept and the controls and game play are very solid. I like that you can upgrade the stats after each level, nice touch.

I would add some more variety to the levels and some more enemies. You could add tanks, helicopters, jets, even another big monster if you wanted!

frodewin 2017-05-13 18:53

Interesting and very innovative idea! When I played it, the exoman was always shooting to the left, even if I faced right. Not being able to shot things into the right direction, I just walked into building to crash them. This worked, but depleted my health after some time. When I played again, I tried jumping on top of the buildings, which worked well and let me get to the end of the city. There I kept running and killed some people on the way, but after some time, I was alone, without getting to a new level. I guess I would have had to go back to destroy what's left of the city. If you want to improve the game, i suggest making the weapons more useful (currently walking into a building/your opponent works best). The walking animation also shows the exoman sprite to be a bit short-legged, but this only came to my attention when I had a lot of time to look at (on the right side after the city).

Great game and i don't have another words. Good job!

sputnik3d 2017-05-13 19:37

Tried it out. It was pretty well made and fun. Reminded me of the old rampage arcade game. I did run in to a bug where buildings/enemies stopped spawning.

pecolyte 2017-05-14 11:19

Pretty fun game, the tutorial have some problem that stops the controll while no text poping up. A simple strategy is fire, move forward a little, jump to avoid attack while destroying the buildings. The game crushed at level 3 so I don't know if there is something different. Overall, nice work!

madjackmcmad 2017-05-15 04:02

I loved killing stuff in that robosuit, felt like Rampage all over again. Great stuff. What I really thought was impressive was how you conveyed a feeling of wrecking lots of buildings with very little in the way of flashy FX or extra art. Good sound, stuff tumbling down with the proper speed, it all felt like a collapsing city. Great stuff.

I played until I had enough, it seems like nothing changes after level 2 or 3 except for numbers, but I had a great time grenadoing down all the suckers who did not have robot suits like me.

dragojt 2017-05-15 21:18

I like destroying and exploding thinks in this game. So satisfaying, so nice feeling playing this. I took missing a lifebar or any kind of HUD but it's good anyway.

Liked :)

"RAAAAAAAWR IM GODZILLA.... hum EXOMAN sorry..."

:D Fun little game I liked it ! Simple but effective.

I don't know if it was expected but grenade is really to strong :) just aim for the base of the building from long range and it's easy win :p

Good sounds and graphics are simple but effective :)

Nice work guys !

dick-claus 2017-05-16 16:08

Sorry, couldn't play your game don't have windows, also don't have time to compile it for my platform.

anubhav-kashyap 2017-05-16 16:15

Nice game.

rother-games 2017-05-16 16:40

@eli-delventhal, @dick-claus what OS do you use? (So I can make a compile for it next Ludum Dare)

antiwrapper 2017-05-16 16:40

Very fun to play! Loved running in all rampage mode and destroying everything.

Though it felt a bit cheap that the enemy would start shooting you before you saw them. I often had to shoot enemies I did not even get to see and it was not as much fun bulldozing buildings by powering through them when I realised it hurt me. I'm freaking EXOMAN, of course I should be able to bulldoze my way through everything. This meant that if I wanted to get far I would always have to inch my way forward, because there is no way to dodge incoming projectiles, and shoot enemies off-screen or I would just run in there having more fun.

Regardless though, it was still very fun to play with good visuals and music. Great work!

hjalte 2017-05-16 16:49

Nice idea. I really like that you can just crash buildings by walking into them. Really makes you feel like exoman :). I also really liked that you made the little npc guys with healthbars. It couldve easily just been boring buildings with projectiles spawning all around. It added some depth and it was pretty cool. Still there was kind of alot going on so I had a bit of a hard time strategizing. I either just spam clicked the mouse and bulldozed forward or stood back and slowly shot them all.. Really cool game though and the upgrading worked well too :).

rother-games 2017-05-16 17:02

@antiwrapper what is the maximum resolution of your screen? The shooting distance is calculated in pixel so probably your screen is smaller than the one I used to program the game.

pixlwalkr 2017-05-16 17:18

Cool game! I enjoyed smashing the buildings of those pesky humans lol, the upgrade features is also a nice addition.

dejvo 2017-05-17 08:37

nice one there! It felt a bit easy but just a bit of polishing could do the trick. otherwise, it's a nice and solid LD entry. keep up the good work!

annagavaldakedavra 2017-05-17 11:05

Well it's kinda funny but you soon just do the same thing without thinking and you can go on forever. Need a little polish on the gameplay.
