I like the game you need to give more feedback to the user when you crash, because the text is not enough.
And also a button to skip the tutorial, because if you want to replay the game faster you have to wait until the tutorial ends.
Good job! ^^
Lovely little game, I love these kinds of games. It's a solid game, well done!

Cheers guys, thanks for giving it a go. Quemagalletas, yep, definitely need to improve on the end states, I should have added an explosion or something more visual. agree with the start, i should have made it so thrusting would immediately cut all that out if player already knew about it.

Nice mechanics, good mood overall.

Nice take on the fly-spaceship-through-cave genre. To me, it feels a bit static though, because the player doesn't need to do anything when the ship is on course. Maybe consider making the cave narrower or add some kind of gravity? Still a fun experience, gg.

cheers :)
i did initially have a slight gravity on it in the early stages, but as i added the battery mechanic, I would run out quickly until i tweaked it, and forgot to put the gravity back in doh lol:)
the caves were originally narrower, as its procedural i did find that sometimes it wasnt possible to pass them, so made them bigger just to make sure it was doable.
ill revisit and see what tweaks I can do, and try and get it look and play a little nicer.
Nice work Obo! I feel like the level, controls and mechanics came together really nicely with the space capsule theme. The floaty physics feel great with the theme. The addition of the minimap was a nice touch. My constructive critique would be that having to sit through the tutorial each time you died was not ideal, I'd either make it skippable with a button press or even have it be a scene between menu and main game so that when you restart you go back to main. Obviously it's a jam so having a tutorial at all is good lol. Overall a nice, effective little game though! Great work!

Cheers Matt ;) yeah, definitely, i fluffed up in one of my 1gameamonth ones and done exactly the same but alot longer, boring as hell sitting through it each time lol.
the minimap was down to a quick refresher scan again through your session ;)
Nicely done for your first LD entry! Sebastian Lague procedural generation? Just a guess since I did those tutorials awhile back and got the same type of 3d caves :D The minimap felt a little bit too helpful for me though, as I could tell exactly where I needed to go so I didn't need to do any exploration. Fog of war on it would have been great, but obviously a lot of work for LD.

cheers for giving it a go @ursagames :)
Yea, Sebastians tutes, just spent all day Saturday getting my head round it lol not the best idea trying to learn something like that mid weekend heh.
I might build on it down the line and add the bits n bobs and polish, and have a go and putting a FOW on it since ive never tried it, but might be a good excuse to learn how to for the next one just in case ;)
aye, i agree with you there with the map, it was always going to be corner to corner as thats the only place I could get a fixed start and end sections within a reasonable border. think i had too many pickups as well.
all in all a great learning experience and enjoying playing others games too.

Welcome to Ludum Dare!
Nice first entry. More complete than my first try^^ All with title screen and options. Normally I don't like high inertia movement, but you implemented in a good way. I felt like I could control the spaceship quite well. When taking your time and flying slowly it maybe gets to easy. A constantly decreasing power would help. It would also make the "running out of power" feeling more salient. Still the theme is definitely recognizable. The sounds where fitting for the game. Some simple background music would have been nice. The graphics fit together with the sound and overall game concept. Some visual overlay could be used to give more feedback for the power level and help flesh out the atmosphere. I liked the auto generated levels.
All in all I had quite fun to play to the end
Good job, see you next LD

cheers for the praise and feedback @xaedes :)
had a lot of fun doing this, and will definetly be doing it again, but will a little more tools at the ready next time. its amazing that feelng of "ive got all weekend ill just learn this.." then going to "oh hell, ive only got a few hours left to get x, y and z done and working, and ive still got to walk the dog, feed the kids.." heh
Ive started using LMMS to hopefully be able to flesh out some simple tunes for next time.
If theres one thing to take away from LD its I now know I CAN complete something in a short space of time if I need to, instead of having a hard drive full of incomplete little games and projects.
The game looks and sounds nice. Great to have procedural levels, they look natural. I did find it too easy though. I generally manage to get to the end without even picking up a battery. Would be great to have more challenging caves. Oh, and maybe things shooting at you :-)
The game looks promising, but would not run well for me. The ship crashed on takeoff, giving you no gameplay. I seem to be the only one here experiencing that though. Well done with your first Ludum Dare!
Made it to the end, solid game, had fun, would be nice to do some landing though to complete the level. The minimap was a welcome feature. Welcome to LD

cheers for playing and the welcome :) yeah @peter-jonsson i forgot to disable rotation until after take off, so you could rotate and crash immediately :( one of them tweaks i just never had time to address before the end.

A toggleable option to add gravity would have been great, since I found it fairly easy to add a little bit of horizontal momentum and then to just control vertical when I needed to. It was a good game, and required a fair bit of concentration.

That actually is nice. It took me the second time to reach the exit. The first time it was unclear when the space key actually works and how much thrust it gets. But when i know how it worked i could finish it the second time. By moving very slowly, that is.
I think this is really fun and you completed a game even with sound effects and such! Not bad for a first try, too!
And yes, I like the minimap, too!
Nice work! The controls felt very good and even though the game was quite challenging it was still fun to play through. Some quick improvements would be that you can skip the tutorial, maybe add some effect when dying and adding some graphics for the battery to indicate better that they actually are batteries. But very good job considering this is your first Ludum Dare!
Hey. I played the game for ten minutes. I like the ambient hum of the background sounds, although the engine loop is a little jarring - something with a slightly smoother loop might be nicer!
It's a simple game but it's fun, once you get the hang of steering the craft. On my first attempt I launched into the rocks hard!
Perhaps it's a little too easy? I managed to get to the end with full power, because there's no friction or gravity, and the minimap shows exactly where I need to get to. Maybe you could consider having the minimap only showing the areas you've already explored.
Obviously, you nailed the theme!
Good job!

Cheers @kevkev-adsett and @antiwrapper, thanks for giving it a go :) yeah theres alot to improve and work on moving forward, i spent waaay too much time trying to get the procedural walls (all day saturday learning that) working sort of the way I wanted.
ive just started dabbling with audio, so ill work on that too, i should have popped a quick random pitch change in there, just to change it up.
im trying to learn how to do a simple fog of war just for something to put in the toolbox :), so might bring that into the project too.
thank you again for the feedback, much appreciated.

The game is fun althought I've definitelly seen exactly this type of mechanic couple times before. In the context of this LudumDare it is fitting though. I would definitelly appreciate to be able to play right after restart and not to wait until the instructions roll off. Sounds are also appropriate and graphics are simple, but they work.
This game was very addictive however you can die before leaving the starter pad by pressing the arrows. Which is only a small problem.

definitely Jake, I should have disabled rotation until thrusted away. yeah Oakus, its something ill have to look at.
cheers for giving it a go guys and the feedback :)
Nice job, the lander controls very well. I only wish that there was a way to skip the tutorial so I could reattempt faster.
Great job, a little bit difficult for me to control it, but I think it's part of the challenge :P Minimalist art was also a good fit for this fun experience. I just think restarting by going to the menu took too long because I had to read the instructions again :P Overall good job!

Cheers Sara and mactinite for giving it a try. yep definitely be addressing that if i take it further.
