I really like the game, even if I finished it quite quickly.

I really like the game, even if I finished it quite quickly.
An moody take of the themes, with a story probably about growth, and something that used 2 keys.
I understand you've made something that you wanted to make, that's an achievement in itself. Many people lack the ability to do just that, and would rather make things that they think other people like instead of their own.
Perhaps that's why I found it very hard to identify with the main character in the story. Me and that person have almost nothing in common.
It's hard to detect when a new piece of text arrive, because there's a lot of camouflage, and sometimes it takes a while before the next sentence appear.
It's very hard for me to judge something that I can't relate to, but I don't think that actually matter. The important thing is that it's something you've actually wanted to make, and that you believe you've finished it in 72 hours.
And it's very "moody", which I like.
Short and Simple.
Brilliant in audio department, and any game that is about eating is fun.
I got to level 12 easily, too. :)
Simple and fun.
I really can't say much about the game. Almost every room transition went to a wrong room, or to a room I've previously had finished.
The very few puzzles I've played had some good ideas but it's not fun yet. (note: I'm playing the Original Version)
EDIT: I just played the Updated version and the only thing I can do there is doing the same room over and over again.
Erm, nice game overall. Not much else to say.
Fun game. Took me a while to get a good portion of the board but then I stopped since it have no idea if there's an ending to this game, or how to stop the growth of the monsters.
Also this game would be much better by not having a choice of six items, but just having the choice of all of them in the first place. now im just building tens of turrets until it changed to something different.
And it's a bit strange to have that 4th item only showing up after filling up half of the starting area, that really should have shown up way earlier.
Good fun game, and there's no need to change the jumping mechanics. Managed to get to the end, and I'd say changing the jumping mechanics now means you'd have to redo some of the levels. If you want to imporve on things then try the graphics or the sound department.
This was much more fun than I first thought. Or perhaps this is a bit more guilty pleasure.
Incredibly fun game.
The first two level is really fine but after that it became impossible.
It's a good looking game so it's probably fine.
What should I say, this was a longer puzzle than I first thought. But when I restarted the day after (well, it doesn't save) I completed it in one go.
The graphics looks really good in this game. All kinds of shrubbery and detailed background with simple green trees in the foreground. I'm not good at judging music so I can't comment on it, but I don't think it's bad.
As for the gameplay, I feel like all the kinds of deaths are a bit too forced, and most of those deaths could probably be handled easier by not allowing the player to go there instead. At the Summit I tried to drop from a vine to a platform, but somehow I felt too far and touched a fire block instead, which I felt was really unfair. And because of those fire deaths, it means that I have to approach the fires very carefully every time and that really is annoying.
The level design looks nice, and I understand it's hard to design puzzles in a weekend. The difficulty curve is a bit strange, and I believe the third level was the hardest one, while many of the later levels it's possible to skip some of the water items.
But overall, it's an atmospheric adventure with some puzzles in it. If I made an post-jam version I'd suggest you to re-tune the puzzle difficulty curve, and weed out some of the unnessary deaths. But as it is now, it's still good enough for 4+ stars in most of the categories (at least for me).
This was really fun. My final item was the skates. This is also the first game I've given every category the same score, so it's pretty good.
Wow, a kinda smash bros game. Nice idea and done pretty well. As everyone else already have said, it needs some more polish (especially on the audio and the jumping part), but i can imagine this being a fun multiplayer game.
One of the better games I've played this LD. Then again I haven't played thrust/gravity force for a long time now.
The first few levels were probably the hardest for me, and the final one.
Yeah, it's a bit short and easy but theres lots of room to enhance it.
It's a very challenging control method though and I still prefer the thrust controls.
You make me realise I should make a thrust clone too. Thanks! :)
I'm not sure why I don't like it.
It has graphics like a warioware mini game, it has sounds and music (although that pumping sound is really grating), it has atmosphere, it has humour in the tv screens, still I dont find it fun.
Perhaps it's because it took me a long time before I understand how to get a score. Perhaps it's because it's very dependent on luck whether I can keep the game running. Perhaps it's that pumping sound that I don't like. Perhaps it's because my aversion of 3 colour games, especially because that 3rd colour feels out of place. I don't know.
Still, not bad for a 48 hour game.
This was a different take on the usual pinball game, but it's actually very enjoyable to play with all those nice sound effects and cheers.
Thought this game was really humourous but I have completely no idea what names "sounds" like what other "names".
Well, the game is pretty okay but I haven't been able to play very far because of the difficulty.
For what I seen so far it looks fine though.
No score for audio since this version doesn't have it.
One thing, the Z and X come so quickly it's almost impossible to get them in time (at least for me it's really too fast).
One of the most fun games I've played during this LD.
Very well done difficulty progression (but could use some more checkpoints), good atmosphere (even if the music is too loud), nice idea and very well executed.
I quitted at the moving platform.
Still have no idea how many charges i get and why it sometimes disappear completely when i touch a black wall. The batteries also seems to have no use either.
I thought that it was a good use of the theme, having 2 button controls. The game looks nice too.
It's a fun game, and I like how you've managed to get both the themes there. But to be honest I'd rather you drop the two button requirement and have the jump and speed have separate keys. It would play a lot better. (or have a default, but faster speed instead.)
I think I gave up on level 3.
This was a lot of fun. I was surprised at first what happened when you've collected all 9 items, but I did completed it.
I had a lot of fun playing it but this is probably a first that I don't even know how to improve it. It would be nice if the "Press A+L" text on the first screen was more visible, but basically it's a lot of good stuff here.
Short, Simple, and a bit Funny. Not bad for a 13 year old. :)
Very fun. I've played it a couple of times. Haven't tried the Hard mode.
That was a pretty fun game. At least, until those hearts and music people showed up. When they showed up irregularly that's basically where the game ends. But until then, it was a pretty fun game.
TL;DR The game in its current state is unfinishable due to some bugs.
------------
Where should I begin...
It's an interesting game. I understand you want to combine something like Continuity with an Action Platformer and some Growing. It's a good idea, and I've seen some good examples of this before (not all 3 combined though.) It's a very ambitious idea to do this in 72 hours.
The graphics are okay. I understand your artist was having health problems but you can still need to mark the places where you can die yourself.
The design has some weird ideas. The biggest issue there is that you don't show the whole tile with all the exits (even if incomplete) at all times in your minimap. This means that instead of solving a puzzle, all you can do now is guesswork.
The biggest problem with this game is the coding.
Enemies are moving strangely. Sometimes the enemies can block a path, sometimes they float in midair, sometimes they drop down stairs too.
If you stop walking upwards on the stairs you automatically walks down again (which means you basically can't attack people coming from upstairs.)
And I've tried to play this game 5 times now, and the only reason I can't seem to finish this game is that it has some game-stopping bugs. Sometimes when I revisit some of the older rooms, some of the arrows will disappear from the minimap and the x went back to its original place. And sometimes the switches swap every room in the column but not itself. Sometimes those "wheel monsters" can stuck in midair and block your exits and you can do nothing about it.
To recap: Great idea, poor execution. I'm disappointed to see so many bugs in here as I've talked to some of your during that last text adventure game. If you need help or explanations or just a friendly chat, just drop me a line on the LD IRC chat.
I'm not sure what to say here. It's very confusing.
Cutting is never clear which part will explode. If you can only build one kind of building then why do you need a submenu?
In your screenshot you're also building them everywhere, while it's probably much easier to build them all in the bottom left corner.
The >>>>> line at the bottom is confusing because somehow if the balls dont go exactly there they will stay at the same screen and not go to the next screen.
You can also very easily run out of red blocks. In the end I've build a 6x6 container at the bottom left, run out of red blocks, and then use the rest to do the right screen for a couple of games.
And by that time I reached the right screen, my brain was so confused I'm not very well into an unpredictable zx mini game.
But the left part is fun. And the right part is very funny.
I like this a lot, even it's probably too fast for me right now. I will come back and take a better look later.
Also, really nice graphics.
I got a 404 when going to the Web link.
I love the idea of using growing to make a very unforgiving platformer. Love the idea, and lots of room for improvement (note I'm testing the Jam version.)
Unforgiving platformers are good if you get the controls right, though. The Space key is not a good jump key for such games. In fact I've remapped it when I play this game. Still having to switch to the mouse for shooting when it gets hectic feels like a design error than an unforgiving platformer.
Also, I wouldn't call a game with randomly disappearing floor blocks that are hard to jump onto, "super meat boy sort of way" game, but rather just "unfair because of randomness". Super meat boy might be hard, but theres not much randomness there. Also that game has more checkpoints.
Great usage of theme, but if you've claimed that this is hard but in a hard but _absolutely_not_ super meat boy kinda way then I'd have believed you a lot more. Still, there are lots of ways you can improve upon, so that's fine.
The game basically becomes impossible to finish after you get the wall jump. It's probably possible to get back from there to the save point, but it's too hard for me. Those spinning blades are not fun.
I like metroidvanias a lot, but this one I think it's too hard.
Because I can't vote on the Fun category on this game, this is (probably) the only game where my overall vote is lower than the average vote of the other categories.
A very funny and humourous game. The voice acting is great, even if the text didnt fit in the speech bubbles, the game is fun even if you die very quickly (or maybe I'm too slow.)
The funniest game I've played so far in this LD.
This is a fun little game with basically 3 levels repeating.
Took me a very long time to figure out the controls, but in the end the game was very satisfying.
There is this strange possible bug with cows flying out of the top of the screen on the first level, but otherwise the game is pretty solid.
Nice idea, cool physics, nice graphics too. I did gave up halfway though, but that doesn't matter.
I like the idea of having weight influence the jumps.
It's a fun game for the part I've played.
I did stopped at the part when you start needing to use the grappling hook though. That part wasn't very well thought out and is probably too hard.
Also very strange is that you can swing the rope while the rope pass through wall blocks.
But as I said, the part that I did played was very fun, and I've rated the game based on that part. Which means I probably gave better scores than I would have if I have finished the game. :)
Having seen all the pictures on the blog I know it has somewhat special effects.
Great production values you've got here. Great to see the actor can keep so many stuff in his month, or the red eyes.
The sounds are pretty good too.
I also like the times on the phone is chronological.
As for the game, it's very linear. And the clues are not enough to piece out the mystery (at least for me). Also, many actors are in the credits but I can't piece together who was who in the movie.
Is there any reason that I can't skip the credits after seeing it for the first time? It's very long.
Overall, a lot of production value and very little game. Then again, it's great production value for 72 hours.
It was fun to play the game, and on my first try I got 6 balls to the end, then I entered the square without going to get that bonus. So I got the thing on my second try...
I like the idea but it felt like the two button control was forced on, and my fingers didn't like all the turns at the end of the second try.
This is more fun than I thought it first was. I'm not quite happy with the constant button bashing when i still have to select the people, but otherwise it's all fine.
Oh, and I like the idea of using two buttons to control someone, it really is a good fit to the theme.
This was a pretty fun game. Nice graphics too.
If there was one thing I'd change, then Auto-firing would be nice.
Fun little game. Because you have 1000 bullets I've decided to use the machine gun after a while. You get less score but at least the game ends soon enough. :)
No idea how you did the music synchron but that was innovative to me.
This was fun, and strategic.
Very brave of you for entering LD with a working 8 bit game. That alone already means I should give a somewhat higher score than usual.
Also "8-bit retro aesthetic atmosphere".
Very little colour clash there. Oh, there's even a loading screen!
And after playing it I think I really should make a 8 bit game soon. Well done!
PS. If I would change one thing it would be the long beeping bits when a robot got killed. On higher level with many robots, waiting for all the sounds go away is a bit annoying.
Fun, little addictive game. Took me a while (and a couple of re-reads) to understand what everything means.
Gets a lot better when I realised it's like most bullet hells but with a much larger bounding box. (and I like those games too.)
For a post jam version I'd reduce the boxes to a few pixels instead (but not reducing the close calls radius). Would make the close calls feel even better.
Nice little game, beautiful graphics, and nice audio too.
I've managed to finish to game (in the post-LD version) so it's a lot of fun when fixed.
The idea that you can slim down after a song ends is really funny.
And I really like the audio on this game. nom nom nom nom...
That's like some of the more "professional" games I've seen on other sites. Nice looking, lots to do, and nice levels. And all that in 2 days too! Nice.
Why is the embedded version not the jam version but the postjam version???
I almost gave some fine scores but now I really have to mark it down.
The game itself is a bit slow, but the problem is that it's a bit easy. I've stopped playing after level 9, but for levels 7,8,9, I have steps left. (Not going to recheck this since the game is so slow and you can't reselect finished levels.)
Nice idea for a game. A bit short but it fits the theme well.
Looks great, fun too.
The only problem i have is that they dont seem to pop, even if i frantically hit the mouse button.
Still, a small interesting little game.
A nice and short experience.
Satisfying if you have a driver's license and you have never do this kind of racing before.
I think I've finished every one of the puzzles by luck.
It's also hard to judge this game since the only version I can download is the postjam version.
Nice mood.
You told me in chat to give you top marks, well, after finishing the game I feel you deserve it (well, mostly).
An kinda art game, with great visual and atmosphere, some puzzles and a story. That's quite a lot even for a jam game.
The story doesn't do much to me, but that's more likely my problem and not yours. I also finished it on my first run so I might missed some details too.
I've finished it. I like the idea but this game is a lot of clicking.
The man on the bottom right is hilarious, the song is fine too.
Really needs an indicator which train goes where. It wasn't fun to do level 3 again when i figured out i've put them into the wrong stations.
Still I've finished it. :)
I've played the original, and this one has some really tricky/unfair jumps.
But overall it was very good for a 14 year old. I gave quite a lot of stars for this game too.
That was a really nice game. Shaving as a game mechanic, nice!
And the soundtrack is definitely one of the best I've heard this LD.
Well done!
Great puzzle game.
This is a game I'd like to keep playing later on.
Sometimes it's hard to select the pieces, but I like this game a lot.
This game is fine. Interesting ideas, Zelda like graphics and even a menu and music.
There were a lot of keys to remember, and in the end I was like moving all over the keyboard.
Also, this game has less bugs than your earlier LD games, so that's a real good improvement.
I'm satisfied with this game. Yay!
A game packed with details, nice graphics and a story.
I don't know how you've managed to cram this much in there and there are some slower parts, but overall, very nicely done!
That was so unexpected and still very funny.
Like it a lot.
There were some minor nitpicks, but nothing really major.
As for the couch song... Nice song when played in moderate portions.
Really nice game!
It's a bit short, and in the second level I didnt need to get the arrow on the top right corner, also it's hard to guess whether you can change shape at a location because you have no idea how it transforms.
I also had a problem with my mouse cursor not being visible in the HTML5 window, so I clicked randomly to see if I clicked on the correct shape.
But overall, a nice little fun game.
Short and sweet and fun. Also, great looking graphics.
For a 3-day game, it's fine! Nice graphics, a story, even some good gameplay!
It is also better than a lot of other LD games I've played. I wonder why you didn't get more comments.
I've played it a couple of time.
I like how confusing the player gets at first play... I guess it must be intentional. :)
Also, nice graphics and idea. I still think making a PICO-8 within 48 hours is a lot of work, and it's a nice job you did.
And I've managed to build 2 ships within the time limit too! Especially with half the ships being 8 length, that's quite an achievement! :)
If you still want to improve, I'd probably try to make the game a bit more focused... for example by replacing all those lights by 1 arrow showing the yellow light position, tell the user the real keys instead of the pico-8 buttons, change the timer or ships lengths so that you can finish 4-6 ships in a run.
But even now, it's a nice game. Well done!
Nice small game. :)
I agree with the slow sword swing but it's not too much of a problem for now.
The art looks great for a 3 days game!
Also, the end of world 1-1 is fun.
Nice entry, very atmospheric, nice graphics. I think if the player wasn't so slippery it would be a winner.
Well done.
I agree, nice little platformer. I've finished the music level but I haven't done the second level.
Very nice music too. Also I keep falling on those sharp things and die... perhaps they could be reduce health instead?
I haven't seen much of the Atari ST period, but this is a very nice tribute!
Also, this redrawing 3D effect is very effective in making a simple platform game look amazing!
Very well done!!! (even if a bit short).
I guess the biggest problem with this game is that the game in the "Web" link is not completable, and it is an older version.
The one in http://julien-romero.fr/game/theartoftherope/ will work, however.
But by the time I finished the puzzles I ended up finding them boring and tedious instead. This game is probably better if you have a save function, or have half the amount of levels as it is now. (The latter half of the red rope puzzles are just sleep-inducing.)
I like the idea, like the graphics, like the music, but the level design broke all of that...
@Aun: I appreciate the thought of not putting a post-compo version on the main page. But this being a puzzle game, it's not fun letting people with the impression that the compo version is finishable.
Because I thought that version is finishable and I've tried that specific puzzle for some time before proving that that level is indeed unfinishable.
In fact, the rules specifically says the following:
"Certain Bug Fixes are allowed. You can’t add new features, but if something broke or didn’t work correctly as you were finishing up, you can fix this after the deadline. You are asked to highlight the changes you make in your submission (a short change log). You probably wont get a 2nd chance with some players, but at least it wont be a problem for future players."
I'd say, the least you could do is to tell players that this current version is not finishable. And not let players in the dark by not mentioning it. You can, of course, fix it instead, and put up a changelog for those game-breaking bugs.
Loved it.
So many little touches, so many drawings, and so many funny things...
I feel like I should have made a book game like this too, and therefore you must be my doppelganger... "THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!"
Well, and I won the adventure. At least, on (one of) the "win" path you can still get a fun adventure with that note.
Nice looking game. Finished it. Some levels are harder than others.
No real complaints other than the music.
Oh, and I couldn't use cursor keys because the game detects them as 2 keypresses each.
Well, as I already said before in chat, I like RoboRally too. The fact is, I am also very bad at it, and every time they ended up completely somewhere else.
Somehow I don't have this problem here, and I could sail through the first levels easily. Perhaps it's the clearer graphics, or because I have a top-down display, but everything seems so much easier here.
It is funny though that my playthrough usually involves a u-turn and then walking backwards. It almost seems you have too many cards going the opposite direction. :)
Nice looking game. Incredibly frustrating, and I'm not going to play it again.
"YOU DIED 113 TIMES!" :)
Nice looking Mario Kart / FZero clone.
Also, all those 3d models of cars! That must have taken lots of time (I mean, I can't do it even if you give me a week.)
Beautiful cat animation. I also finished the game very quickly. You could expand on this.
nice game... it's a bit too hard for me, but it has nice graphics, good action and interesting level design.
well done.
Those are some nicely done puzzles! Small Colourful tiles too, and very responsive. Took me a while but I finished the game.
Well done! I like this game a lot.
Yes, this game is a bit too short, but sweet.
Really nice statue, too.
Sorry, this game's jumping mechanic is so bad, i gave up after being stuck forever in the first 3 screens...
That was a really fun, but short game. Good job!
Really enjoyed it.
This was a nice small text adventure. I got it somehow on my first try, completely by luck.
(Well, I did ended up reading the code at one point to guess a verb, but otherwise it's like... how did i ever get into the computer room so easily?... turned out i did just enough...) :)
This really looks like a brilliant game!
I got as far as the (first?) level with all 3 the golems, but I fell through the level somehow while pushing the star block.
Even with that problem, I'd say this is one of the best games I've played this LD! (And I've played a lot of them.)
Well, other people already said most of the problems, so I'll keep it easy to say that it's still enjoyable for what you've able to made in 3 days.
Not bad for your first game, probably, since there's no account info when I clicked on your name.
Very impressive game for a first LD!
Lots of cool pictures, a story and lots of menu options.
For a jam game that is impressive.
Yes, there are places to improve, but you can always do that later. I've seen worse on this LD too, with games with even less(!) choices.
And those pictures... Nice! :)
Brilliant Art, Good Story (up until the end, anyway), Great Atmosphere, and somewhat ingenious puzzles (at least you did managed to put all the element on screen, which is kinda hard for more game developers.)
One of the better games I've played, definitely.
This Twine game would be so much better if any of those links with "h480/randomimage.png" would have changed into "h480\randomimage.png", as well for the audio.
For now... I'm not going to hand-edit it on my side, lol.
I just wanted to play the game with the full experience :P
Just let me know when you fixed it, then I'd like to play. :)
The story is pretty funny...
Nice use of old pictures too.
Some of the endings have the paths still wrong, but I don't care :)
I just came across this game, and I just completed it. (Took me a while to figure out what the Z button did, but ater that it was cool!)
Really nice game, could even be used in the current miniLD too.
27 on my second attempt. This is a very well designed board game!
I guess the hardest part is actually know what kind of cards are in the original deck itself. Because that information is not really known.
My trick is, of course, try to aim for a temple. I had it on turn 8 but I only really needed it on the final turn. To do that, you need a 2-village asap. And to do that you need to gather resources at your 1-village.
Also, half of the strategy is to discard and destroy cards. For example, use discard cards to move water uphill, or to the village. And destroy cards you don't need, like 3-grains (because it's easier to move them up.)
If I'm only talking about strategy here, it's because the game is really well made. This is probably one of the better/best games I've played for this LD.
(Of course some of the interfaces could be better, and I think one of the cards the text of the resources didn't see to match the picture, but that's all.)
Well done! :)
It was pretty fun when you learned the different keys.
The only reason I lose later on was, that my window was too small and I couldnt see the first and last command, and skipping the messages somehow trigger the commands too.
But basically, it's a nice game. Not bad for a first LD game.
It's a nice fun looking game.
I do wonder... what happened? how come your game doesn't feature the guy in your posts?
I thought this was a very excellently made game! It's however also one of the few games that I gave up before even halfway...
Still, I find it very well done!
This was a fun game. Even if I only played it once. 20 points.
This is a lot better than my own game. :)
Nice looking graphics, and an interesting method to fire arrows.
Other than the fact that my shooting speed was much lower than the enemy spawn speed, the game was quite nice.
Incredibly cartoony graphics! Well done!
Funnily, I just cleaned my room before I played this game too.
That was actually a fun game. i got to wave 8.
It's just a bit hard to understand when your ray ends. But it's a fine jam game.
This was an interesting game. I used a lot of Autofill to ask questions, and got a lot of answers.
Much better graphics than I can do in a jam game.
Hi... If you are going to put links from mega, please give people the complete link with the very long key in it. Otherwise people can't download your game. :)
Okay, "played" it through... It's like a very short story. No real gameplay, but enough really nice looking images... Nothing I can draw in 10 years from now.... Nice.
This was a very short game, but still you've managed to put a lot of different stuff into it...
Something really easy to do is the animation of the main character. You only need 2 frames to convey motion so that would be a quick win.
Another place to improve is the level design, but that would take a bit more time than drawing a second frame.
At the moment it feels like you made so many things but they each only get used once... for a LD game you should re-use more :)
Nice art and music and gameplay. TIM was a nice game and this is too.
Mouse was very unresponsive. It was never sure if I could select something or not.
Most levels also have alternative ways to finish. :)
This was really nice. Great atmosphere, nice graphics and sound. and the game was nice too.
The things I dont like is that you can sometimes spawn near a monster. Or that the bullets change sometimes, somehow. Or that buttles cant move past holes (at least i think they're holes.) And I almost got stuck between some walls for a while... Also I sometimes clicked outside the browser window... :P
Otherwise, it's a great game. :)
This was a nice interactive story with some very lovely puzzles.
It's also something I can't yet create in 48 hours because I'm not good enough in mouse events in javascript yet.
I didn't guessed the Mystery until it told me right there in the face, either So it was well done.
The difficulty at the end was a lot lower than in the middle, and perhaps you need a bit more work there. It felt like you've sacrificed the difficulty for multiple solutions.
But to do this in 48 hours? I think this is brilliant.
I just finished this game full of mini puzzles/games. So much content in there!
I'm not sure what to say... The sum of the mini parts are definintely better than each of them alone.
I've finished it, and it was fun. Also, never had guess the song, but that's fine.
Nice little game.
The constant dragging made my hand hurt in the end... so much draging and dropping...
Nice music, graphics and gameplay. Nice.
The hardest part of the game is which person is a minor or not. Half the time I drag thing to the trash and then realised after a while it's not a minor, and i lost my last live to someone I don't think is one. :P
Good Art for 24 hours. Next time perhaps more time for gameplay.
Oh... That was a short puzzle game...
I got through level 8 in 10 minutes (mostly because of the lots of clicking to move and test things.)
Looks nice. Was fun.
A bit short, not very challenging (not for me), but, still very competently done in 48 hours!
A short Mertoidvania demo. It has enough potential for a complete game.
I really liked that message about the club not really doing anything. :-P
I think I completely randomly finished my first game by getting stuck at the end and pressed a key. :)
So I played it again, and then realised that in my first try, I didn't got all the items, and I didn't even realise there was a key to activate items!
The game was much more fun _after_ I discovered that!
So, I'd say this is probably one of the best metroidvania of this LD! It's just that I wished that the level design was better so that I could have figured out how the items work before completing the game. :)
Really good looking game. I do think that the interface needs to be vastly improved before I can find this game fun. For example, the map scrolls every time I move my mouse to the left to select a trap, and therefore I have to compensate that. Then you have that range placement that I have to compensate too, and this game ends up like an exercise in clicking a location while having motion sickness.
In fact, I feel like I got motion sickness from this game (not joking.)
The art and the dialogues are pretty cool! That seems to be a lot of work to do this in 2 days!
I never got past the laser trap, for me it's impossible to guess the correct timing.
I've played this just after I've played managore's game so this was smaller, but looked much better.
At least, you can still improve this game with more things to do.
I've passed levels 0A or 0B, and I think it's a great idea to make a stack based game.
At the moment I'm not playing further because I don't want to squint to see which floors are real floors (01) or not, combined with the constantly walking to see which image belongs to which number, and the stack position, and I've decided to give up before my eyes to give up first...
Still, a nice idea for a game!
It's a okay, a bit addictive game. But it ends too quickly and it's very repetitive, and the scoring needs to be improved. And it really should have a better control method where I don't have to use both hands.
It's a good start, though. Needs a lot of polish, but is very promising!
That was a very original idea! Best score: 200 points.
Yes, simple but very addictive gameplay... I've played it couple of times, as I actually never really played this kind of games before... :)
I think I just crashed the joke game on 8944. The normal one is still working though.
Oh, and it's a nice looking labyrinth. The story was actually pretty good.
I've also managed to escape without talking to M. But the game still thinks we escaped together, somehow.
Nice looking game. I think I've stopped playing when names of people appear.
For me it feels like a lot of the rules needs to be figured out.
Just finished it, with 5 cogs too.
Well, this is probably one of the best games from this LD, even if there isn't really any music.
What I really don't like is the blur effects at the sides. It felt like my glasses broke (again). I had this effect in real life for the past few weeks :P
As for the puzzles, the final puzzle took me some time to got it.
and the one at the bottom left, where you need to drop down a place with static and a lift,
and that part where i died and i had to go back a long way.
But overall, I find this one better than the one in the last LD, at least I've completed this one.
That was a very nice interpretation of the theme, nice music, art and physics too!
Probably one of the better theme fitting game of this LD.
Took me a while until i understood why my spear was always pointing down, but then I got it.
Nicely done. :)
Cool short game. :)
[postjam] Yes, the final room took a lot of time, but mostly because the fact that diagonal jumping only apply some of the time. And because it wasn't very logical which case you can jump diagonally or not, I just ended up restarting... In the end, I didn't even need those diagonal jumps for that room...
I can't get this game to work (on Windows). It seems to see my mouse, but it doesn't accept my mouse clicks.
I can press enter to start the game but dragging or dropping doesn't work for me.
Looks nice, though.
@Mathieu Muller: I use an HP mouse, and Windows 7.
I must say I haven't played many Mono games before, so I don't actually know if this is just your game or I have this problem with every Mono game.
Thanks for the reply, too. :)
I finished the game, and it was okay.
More checkpoints could cetainly help other people. Also in-game explanations of the game keys would be better (instead writing them in the instructions).
I like how that artifact works but ultimately it only worked on one specific kind of things so you can expand it with other things in a newer version of the game.
That was a fun game, and I haven't played rhythm games in a while now. I did find myself constantly selecting on the wrong robot, so for a postjam version you could improve on that, as well as some additional sounds for the last 10 seconds of the timer.
Beautiful looking game!
Nice game, lots of features, and the game is a bit on the hard side...
Oh well, 2 out of 3 isn't bad... :)
Finished it. Nice game! I like how it took me a long time to understand the "alien" language.
Whoa. You've managed to make a 2D game in Unity!
I've tried it once and it was a huge fight with the 2D library, so, well done! :)
I've played a few times and at the final play I've managed to finish the game.
It was pretty fun, choosing what you should do and shouldn't. For example, stock on food for the first day will help. A full belly with food and water is always recommended, and eating and drinking don't cost any time.
Also, halfway you will get a message telling that you're almost there.
This was really fun and it made me look for that accompanying font. I like the font a lot.
I would like to skip the first few text screens though, because reading it after every time you die is a bit annoying.
But a very good game! :)
Well, I don't mind the scroll that much... It's just that well, you need to somehow to extend the gameplay time, right?
It does make me not really reading the text and select randomly. There was no indication which text was new so it's probably not important.
And I agree, nice writting!
And I did found several endings so it's not that bad. :P
The best part of the game is its funniness :P
The platforming is, erm, well... I will send you a message about it... :)
Just have a short play of the post jam version, and got to the final screen.
This is a nice looking game. Plays nice too.
No, I don't get the story, except that there is an end screen. Probably related with the map. Even though I noticed the heart.
Nice puzzle game. Yes, level 8 wasn't that hard.
I guess everything about this game is already said before, like an indicator whether neighouring tiles matches (I just randomly pressing the button, and every time I happen to got it right.) A better swapping mechanic, cos dragging is a lot of work, and of course, an ending after finishing 8.
You did well, though! It must be a lot of work doing all these things in 2 days!
Agree, the idea is very good, even if the platforming part is somewhat okay.
Holding a key before jumping feels so unintuitive.
Good idea for a game, really reminds me about those old typing games that I played on ancient machines.
Unfortunately I'm still as bad at typing as before so I lose a lot of hearts even in the normal Hello World part, so I got game overs very quickly... :)
I finished the first room by walking around the outside of the room :P
I have managed to finish the game but didnt really wanted to get any of the items...
Not bad for a 48 hour game. Pygame was always hard to export for me but it seems you've got it working. :)
I've changed the hitbox detection for a few pixels in a post-jam version, hopefully this would help.
Also, remember you can usually find a heart refill in a previous solved screen.
Wow! That was a very interesting game with very well-thought out puzzles!
Definitely one of my picks from this LD.
Really, really nice game! Funny, and nice art too!
That was a fun game. Great idea too.
That was a good fun, simple, puzzle game.
The last level gave me some thinking, but I finished it too.
I guess the hardest part in the game was guessing where you have teleported to (or at the start of the level where i have to search for the player), perhaps you could add some more indications to where the player is.
I just had to read the source code to find out there really isn't anything else than just making random things.
Well, at least it looks good. :)
This is a good start for a great puzzle platform game.
The graphics are sufficient, the controls are okay (I had problems with unresponsive keys the first time i play, and the second time the space key only scroll me down the html page, but the third time it worked.).
The music is very atmospheric... so all you need is more levels now!
I just came here to say that the "music" alone is worth a comment from me...
The game is also funny and very well coded, it's just that I find it too hard using both hands on the mouse and the wasd while my third hand had to press space...
(Just don't tell my third hand he doesn't really exist...) :)
Wow! That was a really nice text adventure.
I still play text adventures occasionally, and this one is pretty fine for one.
(Yes, there are some spellings errors/grammar stuff, but not something major.)
My js skills is not good enough to write something like this yet, so well done! Also, I don't get when the name changes into "red heart" or "red clubs" but that was interesting too.
No, not working for me... It says something like "cannot load mono.dll (error=126)"
Like the idea, the art and the stuff.
But I don't like the intro sequence... it's like a minute long waiting for nothing...
I think i got to screen 6 or 7. But it's a bit boring so I stopped playing.
Also, the first game I choosed a too low resolution and I missed the whole left part of the screen.
Nice job though, as a jam game.
Nice clean fun game. 12 deaths when i finished it.
Oh this was a real funny entry. I like it a lot.
I didn't got that final puzzle(?) or maybe i was incredibly lucky and got it correct at my first try?
That rotation idea is really cool too. Don't know how you did so much in 3 days but it's great!
I also got 8/9 rooms too.
I've played a while now and i still have no idea what I'm supposed to do. But it's still clean and funny to play. Nice song too.
I've played the game, which looks really nice and cute.
As for how to replenish powers, I'd probably give them a lot of resources in the beginning, and as the time progresses, reduce the resources to just enough to keep the game interesting.
Nice word search game. I do think 100 levels is a bit too much. I've stopped at about level 30.
The nicest puzzles were the ones with long words. But there were some harder ones too.
I like the game a lot. Very nice graphics, a typewriter and 4 buttons.
Very atmospheric and also very pressing. I got the 3 endings but I don't want to work all day for the "good" ending.
Compelling story, nice theme use.
Game screen is a bit small I had to squint at my monitor to read the story.
I have to watch a lot of home improvement shows at home too, so this game really made me smile a lot.
I first have no idea what to do but after reading that it's a kinda minesweeper I got the hang of it.
Also, the music is really fitting for that kind of show. :)
It's an interesting entry but I'm not sure what to think.
To get 30 points is very hard in this game, with the data as is.
I do think it's technically very interesting tho with the conenction to the database.
And you made a lot more in 20 hours than my entry. :)
I couldn't kill the boss, but otherwise it's really lovely.
Well done!
Played the game. Not finished.
Still fun for a while.
Don't understand why sometimes I can't shoot. Also, those homing monsters are a bit op.
A really nice puzzle game.
Other than the fact that i have to press m (mute) every time i switch to another screen, and that there is no save option, i like the game a lot.
Didn't have the time to finish it yet but i've passed halfway point.
Lovely game, lovely idea.
I like the story. I like there are many options and branches.
There's a lot(!) of text to read through too. And I like text adventures.
I'm not sure if I want to vote for humor category but otherwise it does look fine.
Whoa! 10 games in 72 hours! Nice!
Lovely planet, nice birds and cat. Took me a while until I understand I have to use the ocarina to get the games... Perhaps easier to just spread them out on tha planet.
The helicopter game was quite hard but I finished it. The snake pacman level was so hard I stopped at that one. I've finished all the others so it's really fine.
Yeah, I agree this is probably best described as a 3d version of Braid. i.e. Time Manipulation with Platforming and some puzzling...
Couldn't complete the game (too much problem on my computer, and im not good at 3d games) but it's certainly one of the best games on this LD.
I really liked the graphics, and the idea (and the game of course).
You can even make it bigger to more levels or an infinite runner.
I never liked programming games, but I find this one better than the most I've seen.
1. I can use my own editor to edit code. 2. I really like the funny person in game, I guess it's your picture? 3. I've finished it 4. I'm not very good at lua, so I might have learned something.
Those photos of yours acting like that masked guy, the masked guy is brilliant and you really should reuse it in some other game.
It was a nice game, but I think I was lucky to found 2 planets in the beginning that were very close to each other. So I stayed there back and forth for very long time and then quit the game when I was bored.
I guess I was lucky there, because sometimes it's hard to even get the ship going.
Overall... it's a nice trading game.
@Remco and @Kosmo About sound and music: I was so much busy with map designing and finishing drawing the powerups at the very final hour/minute/second that I didn't had time to do any sound/music.
I did planned to do try bxfr this time but I just ran out of time. I'd like to expand this game into something a little bit larger for a post-jam version too, but that can take some time.
@philomory @sorceress Well, getting the package using double jump only is (probably) not a game-breaking bug, otherwise i'd have fixed it. There will be a post-jam version with that fix but you should still judge on this version. At the moment I'd still prioritising playing some of the 3k games for now.
@philomory If I had the time I'd probably improve that part. It would be less tedious but just as challenging. I'd probably make some other parts a bit more challenging too, but there will also be an "explorer mode" with fewer enemies.
@Frodewin There are 5 abilities in game (and a key). Perhaps I should make that clearer before, but I thought it would be fun to see how people can find all the passages (none are hidden).
As for statistical variances... well, I give away lots more 4 and 5 stars, i think one of them even "won" the LD, so perhaps I am the one who should lower my scores instead... And that's why I think I'm better off not judging.
Thanks for playing even after the LD.
This was really a fun game with really nice writing, hehehehehehe. ;)
I was surprised how many different stuff you have made that were interactive, too!
I voted for innovation... I can't do an 3D engine in html5 yet. Also, it looks shiny.
Hope next LD you can use the engine for something more.
The intro was very effective. Took me a while to keep me alive, and then I could read all the text. It was a lot of writing in a short time.
Ending was a bit meh, but has lots more potential.
I'd still consider it to be kinda text-adventure, or at least, CYOA.
It's a very surreal, interesting, fishing experience
I caught one fish, but this 3d on 2d mapping makes it impossible to guess when you actually catch it, until you do.
Nice little story, also really atmospheric graphics, nice audio too, and nice message of the "game".
I've played the compo version. Yes, with the collision issues. In the end I've mainly jumped over the enemies I think I would have hitbox problems.
It's a short and nice platformer and it reminded me much of the Super Mario LCD game I've played.
I do think the final part is just way too much guessing. I guess guessing is fine, but not if you have to restart from the beginning and have to do the same whole thing again. Fortunately there's not too many guesses but I basically had to replay that part a couple of time only because of that.
Yes, another little metroid platformer.
Nice design, lots of switches, a lot of hidden stuff and... pixel perfect jumping.
As almost everyone said here before, this game at the current stage is simply too hard to even complete.
Some of the "impossible" jumps are technically possible (and I've done it once, but I didnt got some other item so i had to get back), but now i cant do it any more.
Which is a shame cos otherwise it'd be a much better metroid platformer than my LD entry... :)
Still, a good job!
I thought I'm just posting an image here, with the new version...
In this version I actually found the top part, which i didnt before.
Also I never found the boots. But I did found 3 different ! blocks.
http://imgur.com/rYfdyg7
Warning: A large file and spoiler!
http://imgur.com/j1av7tA
Nice interesting game.
The things staying alive even if outside screen is a nice touch, but when you shot the last one, you have to wait until them finishes, even if that last one went outside the screen for a long time before they come back.
I really like the bossfight. It was also then that i noticed that it autoattacks the nearest enemy. So cool. :)
The level was also really well made, too.
I think it's all very good looking and interesting, but i dont know how to solve the stones puzzle. (i mean, i finished the game but i dont understand that puzzle)
Yes, Key-repeat!
And I finished this game too, so many spells and i ended up with using only healing...
The diagonal fighting is very useful here, too.
And the music is really too repetitive.
But I like you use just javascript to make the game! (My game is too.)
I've enjoyed the updated version.
The game is fun but by the time I reached the daycare I can already kill everyone... and perhaps that's fine too, since i dont want to go all the way back to get better items.
what is that illusory wall, by the way?
i dont like the crap shield replacing the normal shield either.
PS, since I can't find the source of the game I can't really vote for this compo(!) game. Compo games **must** have source somewhere, as well as the original version of the game. Let me know when you have added them back, because I like the game a lot!
It was really a fun small game, I think I've smiled a lot.
I like the planet's graphics too... somehow very effective and still simple.
And I cheated a bit to get through it, but I never know what the intention was.
I've finished the game.
Well, you and the first comment tells you a lot of the problems already, but there are also a lot of good stuff:
* The graphics are beautifully drawn * I like the music * The size mechanic is really cool, and I can't even think of how to make it (I dont use Unity, yet.)
If you want to improve the game I'd also check the movements of the monsters, sometimes they just stay on one place constantly turning around. And I sometimes get stuck in a place but I don't know why.
But the art part is really great, and I wouldnt be able to make such a game in Unity in a weekend. Nicely Done!
That was a really nice little game you've made!
Minimalistic, fun, frentic, nice explosion sounds... Ticks all the boxes for me :heavy_check_mark: (maybe music but i dont think it will fit here)
It's my first day playing LD games, but I have the feeling that this could be one of the most fun entry I'll be playing.
Just finished Dark Richess without using the right elevator.
So yeah... Fun game, good looking animations.
Well made puzzles in 48 hours! The puzzles are harder than most puzzle games I've played (fortunately.)
If you are going to make a longer version, please make the animation quicker in later levels... It's fun to look at in the first few levels, but after that it's just annoying.
I must say I find it a very calming game. I must say I had a lot of problems with placing seeds.
In the end I held on the button for a very long time before something happened. So while the game takes a while to complete it's not for the right reasons.
There's also a part where the camera get behind the box which makes it really annoying to turn the camera.
Otherwise it's a relaxing and zen like game.
I'm not completely sure... It's a really nice looking game, but I feel like your past experiments were better...
Can't really say why... Maybe because it's just a collectathon? Maybe it's hard? Maybe I missed hald of the explanantions?
Of course it's a good jam game, but I still miss something to make me want to continue to play.
This was a short and really funny game.
That was fun. Thought the small planet would be a very annoying way to attack but it wasn't too bad.
Nice level layout too.
Yes, this is a pretty fun game to play.
I'd probably make it a lot more clear how the border works, or just let the rabbit walkaround the world.
I guess the game is currently playable if i dont move during the first part.
I do have the feeling that the claw part is supposed to be challenging, but I don't want to try it out because one error means you have to do **everything** (including the first part) again.
If I was making the game I'd probably start with a **very** large drill and ends with a smaller drill so that the claw part becomes increasingly harder, now everything is just as hard.
I like the music, the graphics and most other stuff, only the gameplay could need a bit more improvement. Goed gedaan hoor!
Really cool game! I wish it didnt ended this quickly... I could probably put tiles on the world all day :)
Nice little game...
Mouse clicks takes a while to be accepted, so it's probably better to have keyboard or just touch to have it operated.
When you finished a level and the next one starts, the "player square" keeps its speed, so it dies instantly. It might be better to set the speed back to 0 at level start.
Oh! A turn-based strategy game in 48 hours!
Not as complex as Advance Wars, but still very interesting to play.
Took me a while to understand what every command does but after that it became a killing machine!
Not bad for a jam game... I still don't know if I can make something like this in 72 hours yet (like not, maybe if I have more preparation), and it's an achievement to do this in such a short time!
Also, the theme interpretation is nice, it's something different than all those planet games I've been playing lately.
I like the game and I replayed level 3 a lot. I didn't finished it because I hit another black hole again for the xth time.
Anyway, very nicely done and well executed idea... also took me a while to realise there are bombs in the game.
I like that it's a sonic like game.
Not sure if I like that you cant kill enemies in rolling mode. Instead of a sonic game, it's now a very slow game.
Still, as a platformer with multiple levels, it's pretty well done.
Also, way too many keys... I have to look at the keyboard while playing.
Nice idea, nice graphics and sounds, but the game is too hard, not only because most of them comes just along the top and bottom of the screen so there is no time to react, but also sometimes i see i can hit the balls but the flipper still missed it.
I'd suggest that the world should be smaller or the screen larger.
I haven't played a clicker/idle game for a week now, and this one is certainly better than many I've played on Kongregate!
I must say the explanation of the things were not very clear, and I was glad I saw some screenshots here on this page to see how everything worked.
i also wanted to say that at the end my computer was lagging from about 50 soils with growing plants... not sure why it slows down so quickly...
This reminds me of my own LD 37 game, but mine was written in HTML5.
I like the run button... save me a lot of time.
And the fact that it's NES is also nice too.
And you need to make the collision detection to enemies a bit smaller, but I guess you know that.
This looks so cool! The robot has some nice frames in it too. I like this look a lot!
At a lot of things I was just wondering how you did it, like those size changing graphics at the begin and end screen; the music was nice too, i haven't even turned it off until i finished the game.
Just one thing... when i pressed space on the start menu screen, everything scrolls up... maybe it's just me.
Oh, castpixel's game! I've always admired your graphics style... If I could do 10% of this I'm already happy...
Okay, back to the game... The current game is a bit repetitive, because all you can do, is open all blocks and hope you get a bone there, and then return it to the base.
Because it's completely random where the fossils are, you have to open/bomb all the blocks... And I never have enough time to do that (but that could be me misunderstanding how the game works).
(Which is why Bomberman is also very tedious, because you have to uncover every block until you find the exit.)
I'm also not too sure what to judge or not... The version on itch is not the jam version but a post-jam version. But for someone like you I'll just make an exception.
Did I mentioned that the graphics are brilliant, as usual?
If I would change it, I'd probably reduce the amount of regular blocks by 70% in an easy level, and 60% in the medium levels (and 40% in hard). The amount of bones is not very important for diificulty, if you basically have to open all blocks. In fact, the total number of dirt is the difficulty (and monsters).
Also, I'd reduce the number of button presses to break one block... My fingers hurt after playing it for 3 times...
Still, I like the game as it is, but there is room for improvement.
I was playing [SmallTrek](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/smalltrek) in this LD, and this is a very similar game.
This one is easier to control though, and therefore much faster to finish, not all the delay stuff.
I feel like this game is probably better due to the ease of controls, except on the sound part.
Great game!
Played the post-jam version; personally i find that kind of bugs to be game-breaking so i feel like it's okay for me.
I've played a lot of this kind of games. And I still love turn based puzzle games. Nice level design but far too easy.
Reminds me to Lolo for example. I would change the eye looking enemies to make them even more clearer.
As for other's comments: I don't mind red herrings; if done well they add to the game. I don't mind not having a wait key, but I can understand it can feel unintuitive for other people. I also like to learn the rules of the monsters and I feel the rules are clear enough. Not understood the shooting through the key bit but I get the idea what yiu wanted so I can finish that.
I like this genre, and although this game feels a bit easy to me, it does have potential. Great work!
Edit: I like the current control scheme.
Nice little game.
I'm not too sure what I want to say here, other than that I like the idea and if I make a game like this, it would look almost exactly like this. I mean, I don't think I could have done the graphics any better.
I finished the game, and it's good for your first LD game.
Nice things:
* Graphics * Can finish * Game
Most important things to do better:
* Ask someone to help you with English * Sometimes pressing E doesn't work * Very Culture Dependent * I was stuck in books one time
I like the idea of an Vectrex game very much... but I don't want to install java just for it, yet.
Is there another emulator available (for Windows) that doesn't need java?
Great idea, and I'd like to play it.
Nice puzzles and I've completed it...
The progression is smooth so the levels feel great.
Please don't use black for pits if you use dark green for floors... I can't see the difference on my screen.
My (old) Firefox gives the following message for this game: "SyntaxError: let is a reserved identifier" therefore I'll try it out later.
Nice atmospheric game. I think the music made it less scary and playable for me.
Really nice two colour style, too.
I like Outrun type driving games too... Maybe I should make one some day.
Still have Outrun on the computer too...
and I think I played it for 6 loops or something before quitting... it's more fun than it looks.
(and i dont like when i crash into a car it comes back in the distance... and because it's so short distance, i cant avoid hitting that same car again...)
I actually did played it, unlike the spammers.
I like the story a lot. Really good.
I find that lava level too much work. Too many long dangerous jumps in the beginning, and you have to go back there every time. And the fire fighting is too hard because of the small hitbox. And if you lose all your hearts you have to do everything again. And you can only take one box at a time...
None of those things alone is tedious but everything together it means i probably won't miss much if i give up.
I gave up after 3 times...
Not completely sure if it's a puzzle game. I can't get pass level 9, but I do like it's a fast and frentic game trying to get to the end as rushed as possible!
Also, the graphics are really nice and clear and crisp, it's so good looking 3d. i feel like playing micro machines or any other small racing game but with very deadly walls.
Like it a lot even if i cant finish it...
Page not found on itch.io... Not voted.
I finished the game and I liked the design. At least it's not another easy puzzle game.
Not sure what to say without spoiling too much, but I was glad the final level i could just kill off the other guy, and then it was easy again.
I beat it in a few goes. It's pretty okay for a short shooter. If you have time I'm sure you can fix the story and add more meat to the game. To be honest I like the current small size but if you want to make a game for sale, it's going to be a bit longer.
There could be some extra graphics improvements on the background but I find this easy on the eyes.
This was an interesting game, the pathfinding and how the guards still can see you even if you shouldnt be seen.
It's also interesting that your ball can only move to the centre of a tile and not near a corner or near a wall.
There were also times that when you click, nothing happens, but i think it just makes the game more challenging.
As for the maze, there seems to be only a few routes from A to B. But that's fine.
It was fun to play.
Nice pixel art, good music too. I don't like that there are a lot of times where the ship comes too high or it doesnt give any energy. I feel like it's not my fault when energy drops down to dangerous levels because no ship is coming. And when they do come, i get overwhelmed by the little running kids..
I really like the art but the game sometimes feels like a lot of waiting (but perhaps that's fine).
Sorry for the problem with the game being a bit broken... Somehow I've been very tired recently since the LD (probably too little sleep)... I will try to fix the game soon.
Yes, I think I have fixed the big timer bug now. I will classify this as a game breaking bug, so it's part of the jam version, but any improvements later on will be just a normal post-jam version. Hopefully I don't get more game-breaking bugs. :)
@pandakipu : press enter to reset the blocks.
also, i had to update a 3rd time, because fixing the game i have left the test code in :P
@amras0000, @simonhutchinson, @draklaw and others: I will try adding commas in a post-jam version.
@amras0000: as for the other numbers, some are just test numbers that I didn't had time to remove. Although the depth and score is for the background game. As for the tricks of buying stuff just before the timer ends, that's now a common trick (and a good one to discover for yourself!) that's being used in many other idle games.
I still haven't think about how to add more information onto the screen yet. The game already had its resolution increased twice already. And a post-jam version could have more achievements and stuff, but this game at the jam version doesn't look much different than the very first versions of some other very successful idle games on Kongregate (and I've played quite a lot of them.)
Thanks for all the comments.
@ruerob-hyky: when you said this, i remember i did this too in Cookie Clicker... Yes, it's fine if you do it... I don't mind it at all.
Nice engine! (webjs version)
i wonder... i feel like it has a nice framerate, but somehow it doesn't feel as smooth as like wolf3d... is it just a keyboard processing problem or is it a display problem? because if you can make the movement smoother, it would look more impressive.
A really nice game with several puzzles, and a good story too.
Also nice graphics and music. And I've played some of your other LD games before, and I like this one a lot. Somehow this one clicked with the story than say R. Lastey.
This one is really good! I hope it ends up high.
I like the game, somehow.
The mechanic is fun. You can farm the beans if you restart (even in the first room there are 3 to get, so it's nice.)
There are also very tricky jumps and multiple paths at the end.
But I managed it and it was good fun!
It's a bit too hard for me, but it's very competently done.
Really nice looking game. Played it for a while then gave up on the last huy in the conveyor room.
Let's start with the graphics... Looks really great (I wouldnt be able to draw this even in full 72 hours), even wobbling player and different people.
Nice maps and level design and nice tricks. You could get stuck in the conveyor room if you left to the left or the right side of the screen (but im sure you can fix it later)
Movements are crisps and you even have 2 kinds of monsters. :)
As for the converyor belts, I don't know how they works but sometimes they kill me for no reason. The posters with keys could have been used in a non-camouflaging colour. And I gave at almost the top of that conveyor level because this double jump is too much for my hand.
It's a really nice game, just not very fun for my hand.
Oh this was pretty fun! nice use of the items and nice levels too.
If you want you can probably expand this into a larger game, too.
Really a great looking game, with nice graphics, and nice music too!!!
Okay, the game runs a bit sluggish on my computer full screen, but it's okay. We can understand you were busy with the rest and you can always improve that part later. ^_^
Really great job! (and I wish I could make these kinds of graphics or sounds.)
That was a pretty fun short game. And I like the hamster and the music thats varying with speed.
Really nice graphics! I've only played the easy level but it's very hard because it's hard to see when something doesn't have power and because timer go so fast without power, you miss it very quickly.
Whoa! This is actually a nice multiplayer online shooter!
It was better than I thought, it was fun.
I reached the end of the (tutorial) level and I have no idea what to do.
I have no idea what any of those tutorial things on the floor meant, either.
It's probably a good idea but I have no clue what's going on.
Perhaps I will try it again later.
Great looking game! Beautiful graphics, a bit heavy on the CPU usage sometimes. Nice gameplay but needs more checkpoints.
Also, is there any chance to use arrow keys instead of wasd? This game has too many pixel perfect/timing stuff and i'm not good at playing this with left hand.
I hope to come back playing this later.
The idea and technical stuff is nicely implemented.
Is there a mute button? i like the music but the i dont like the chirps (just a personal thing).
Still, one of my favourites this LD.
Looks great. Just wished it playes better. The platform physics can be hard, but perhaps you can improve it buy using a platformer library instead.
This reminds me of those old handheld console things.
Looks and plays very well.
The first time I couldn't figure out what to do at the top level, lol.
Simple and effective game... I don't hear any sound effects?
The game looks incredibly promising and it reminded me of an old DOS platform game. With nice graphics too.
Okay, the game currently suffers a lot of fast movement (60 fps is too much for this game), a larger than life hitbox for spikes but a way too small one for floor tiles, a wall jumping mechanic that activates randomly and still costs you one energy level, a lack of indicating which battery you are controlling when multiple batteries are involved, the almost invisible spikes, and many other issues. But it's okay considering the game has only very few levels anyway.
Also the graphics looks really nice and it's a promising game.
Looks very nice, plays well, level progression is very very slow.
Every time i get 8 data points before i die... means a lot of runs before i can level up.
Really nice graphics and level design. The music is a bit short but I managed to get the gem too.
The player jumps a bit too floaty right now and perhaps it needs a sound effect when jumping.
That was a interesting exercise... first my firefox complained there was an error in lien.js line 1 with an extra comma.
Then i downloaded the files, fix the problem, and try to play it locally instead. Then it complained about some xml file.
Then i downloaded the xml file and then it finally runs
Then i find out that going to the computer directly and play is faster than running around.
Then i decided to change the timer and play the game to win. ^_^
So, except for some javascript problems, it is a fun game...
I'm just not too sure what to think about the game. It looks rally nice, the music is a bit irritating, the mailbox has so many mail.
What i find annoying is that you cant remove email when the item is sent up, and that you have to scroll the mailbox. Also, too much reading and walking. I mean, keyboard and mouse.
Otherwise, a good job.
I always like your games, they always look fantastic and plays well.
This one is too, and I couldn't stop me giving a lot of 5 stars for this one. :)
I don't know how you've managed this in 48 hours but it looks and plays brilliantly...
No I haven't finished it yet, and I find it's very hard to get armor/weapon, but I might come back later to play this after the LD ends.
One of the best LD39 games I've played so far, thanks.
Oh, a nice platformer! Looks nice. A good promising start of a game.
It even reminds me of those 16 bits game where you have ridiculously large hit boxes and pixel-perfect jumping.
Also, the story is probably interesting but it didn't fit the whole screen, so I missed some words. But otherwise pretty okay. ^_^
I guess it's a fine platformer/shooter.
Took me a while to understand why there is a sign with "Press SPACE to fire" when space didn't work.
It seems that later on I found the same sign with the text "Press TAB to change weapon".
Of course you still need a weapon but by then i had some.
Some jumping part is hard but it's fine. and i got to the TBC screen.
Nice game. Only found all the secrets after i completed it once.
Nice graphics and animations, story and stuff. Just the gameplay and secrets were a bit annoying.
But that's fine for a LD game.
Nice game. Nice idea. Finished easy on my first try.
I just played it and finished it. This was a nice and short entry!
The first time i had no idea what to do but after a while I got it and finished the game.
Also, a restart button would be very nice.
Interesting take on a classic concept, a bit hard for me but it's good fun.
A jump in the dark "platformer" :)
I think the basics is there. There is lots of room to improve.
For example, light on could do something special.
Also, I'd make the stones to be a bit easier, i stumbled onto a unjumpable configuration once.
I do like the idea, and treasures would be nice too.
Hi, I got this link from your embedded flash: https://v6p9d9t4.ssl.hwcdn.net/support/Game.swf
Here's my discussion with leafo in the chat:
> g12345: quotes on the game: "For some reason, the game won’t load in both Firefox and Internet Explorer for me."
> leafo: well, for whatever reason the person who embedded this game used our "html5" mode, and uploaded an html page with the swf on it
> leafo: so they aren't using our swf embed code, which is tested
> g12345: ah...
> leafo: so they could have just messed up their implementation
Perhaps this will help you fix the flash version.
Anyway, I played the windows version... It's fine. I got to the black screen.
I also wanted to say that the room where everything turns red when you enter (and when you die)... I died a lot in that room and it because completely red and I had to restart.
Otherwise, it's nice.
It's a nice idea. Stopped at somewhere near level 50+ when the level is too big for my screen.
I didn't like the use of the latest javascript commands like 'let' and i had to use a newer browser for that.
It's nice for a jam game.
I think I don't get the point of the game.
Perhaps because I got stuck too often.
Perhaps its rules change every other platform.
Perhaps it's jumping physics is not very good.
But I certainly didn't like there are some long levels without checkpoints.
Otherwise it could be fine.
I have completed one map and I all I can say is that it's pretty brilliant to do finish something like this in 3 days!
I will make something like this one day, too.
There is even music and stuff!
Well Done! (I also like advance wars or fire emblem too.)
Just played it. A nice interesting take. Great game.
A combination of counting and memorization.
That actually is nice. It took me the second time to reach the exit. The first time it was unclear when the space key actually works and how much thrust it gets. But when i know how it worked i could finish it the second time. By moving very slowly, that is.
I think this is really fun and you completed a game even with sound effects and such! Not bad for a first try, too!
And yes, I like the minimap, too!
This was a really nice game. I stopped playing at wave 19 at 266 kills (I didnt ran out of energy, just because it became too monotonous.)
It's a nice version of the old Smash TV and other arena games.
The Gun is really great and the melee fight is pretty useless, unfortunately.
That was a really nice looking execution of the old network puzzle game! Also, really nice soft music, good for puzzling.
I finished the game and I've replayed the game for the other ending... Next time it's probably better to explain in the final screen that you can press L to restart only the final level...
Bug: Also if I press L in some levels, the item stays there forever on the floor and the door won't open. So you need to restart the game even if you press L.
Love the story. I don't even have kids but still it hits me bad.
nice idea for a game! although i have no idea how to put items into the inventory. if i have an item i can't switch to the other screen to drop it. so every time i do it, it's done on pure luck.
A nice looking run-around game! It's a bit hard to distinguish the items and the enemies though. Also a lot of flickering, even though I'm not epileptic but it feels still bad for my eyes.
But overall, worth playing.
Interesting game. I think it's really fun.
But it's also a bit random. If the Banks are located at the border the game is a lot easier, for example. Also i seem to be getting money from 1 store only if there are 2 stores next to each other.
I like how your game is throwing an error at me because I don't have a gamepad plugged in. (Sorry, can't find my controller for now.)
I believe this game has a lot of promise. Brilliant graphics, okay music.
As for the gameplay... it's confusing (why 3 classes if they dont really matter), tedious (monsters shouldn't be healing all the times), random (if you draw 3 bad cards you have to play them all first, with all the healing enemies this is a game of endurance), weird (a card where you draw 2 cards and lose HP shouldnt be a green card but infrared, because a skip turn card is even better than that).
I agree with the previous poster this games needs a rule change, otherwise it would be a shame to waste such nice art.
I reached level 5, and I felt like everything became repetitive. Basically once you get one sword and one bracers and know how to fight the flies, the game becomes the same for the rest of the game.
It is, however, very polished and nice looking, so it's still great!
The idea is interesting but the fact that it's possible to get stuck randomly when turning 180 is making the gameplay a bit unfair.
This was funny, not too hard, and fun. Well done.
I like the ads, but I really wanted a playable game underneath. Sometimes I click on an "X" the window doesn't go away, and having F and SPACE and a mouse button really makes the platform game almost unplayable for me.
I do like the ads because it hides the problems with the platforming. :)
That was a nice, quick, enjoyable game with very nice graphics!
That was a pretty funny story, and you've managed to help me solving a messy puzzle from another game. Yes, nice text game with some bonus points. ^_^
I like how your engine is looking already!
Anyway, the game is fun to play, and it took me a while to notice the theme, and then it hits me!
Okay, I've just played it for a while now. The game is very impressive for 72 hours.
It took a while to understand what's going on, I had to re-read the instructions many times because there were a lot of things to learn.
After some days, all the weeds were pulled and I could start planting, fertilizing and watering.
Then a lot of buying and selling.
After 20 extra days I got bored, because it's more like work than play.
Music is really nice, I didn't even had to complain there wasn't a mute button.
Buying seeds: sometimes I have the feeling i got different seeds than I had bought.
Fertilizer should be at the top of the shopping list, i buy it almost every day,
Buying seeds is a bit strange since you don't know how much they make, so there's no strategy there.
There's a neat game under it, and if you continue work on it, it would become a good harvest moon alternative ^_^
A real gem. So simple idea but so well executed. I haven't finished the game yet (other games need to be done too) but I've seen the later levels to know what you have designed. Clever.
Nice old parchment look too.
I'll finish the game later. ^_^
One of the games I still haven't finished, but I still want to write a comment about it.
Yay, I finally found a good, tough puzzle game to play!
What i would improve on this is, that you don't do one-way roads with red blobs. I guess I took the wrong exit several times with one way roads that leads back to the beginning. Also a 'R' key would be nice too
Beautiful graphics, nice story line, short and simple.
To be honest I'm surprised at the story. You'd think that people would hear about what happened inside, somehow.
Then again, getting this done in a weekend is Well done!
@team-trout Not much tips really. The game uses javascript, I find the only time I got a black screen is when javascript was turned off. Perhaps you have your scripts turned off?
@karai17 erm, probably not... the theme *is* running out of space... having the space cleared isn't the point, is it? ^_^
Hey! I still haven't finished the game but I was halfway enough that I can rate it and comment on it.
English vocabulary isn't my best part, so this is going to take a long time.
I had problem with the oil puzzle, i thought it was oil 'spill'. but then i was playing voxel's game and he actually used the oil word.
Before I forget, this game is, as other people said, AWESOME
This is a fun nice little game. Lots of monsters to shoot. I did wish the shots dont go all over the place and that it didnt took me so long to find the monsters. Also, a LOT of monsters to shoot at without much framerate drops, which is nice too.
I like the idea, and there is enough to continue to make a good game out of it, but for now I have no idea how to do 4. (I've finished 1 and 2.)
I understand how to compare and send the data to the output, but i dont get how to get a next number.
A nice game. Pretty hard too, i kept hugging the walls instead of jumping. ^_^
Nicely done, with all kinds of tricks and a wall closing on you. Took me a while to realise you mean to use the W key to exit level, too.
But it's a good complete game, well done!
Nice ambient music, Cool 3D graphics.
Also the game is pretty challenging. I haven't played many challenging puzzle games nowadays, I missed that. The difficulty progression could be hard to other people, but I like it a lot!
Great game! I haven't finished it yet (too many other games to play) but I've seen enough. Nice art style.
Took me a while to understand what those 'anchor' tiles did, and sometimes they are hidden behind other pieces. And sometimes it's hard to see what your goal is.
Still, a great game! I've been playing your games for several LD's now and this one looks very different.
Also took me a while to understand why sometimes blocks move, and sometimes they dont.
It's a fine autoscrolling platformer.
I've only played the 'normal' levels. I feel like there's a lot of floaty movement and jumping blindly. Also near the end of platforms I can't jump.
I also agree a different song for each level is nice.
Other than that, it's great.
I played and finished the game. It's interesting how you connect the 3 (or 4) maps together.
I think it's a bit boring that when you took a wrong turn, you have to kill yourself somehow before you can restart to try the correct route. But otherwise I like this small metroidvania-like game.
That was really nice, I just finished it in one play. obviously i didn't win in one go, but this was a nice turn based game! ^_^
Funny game! Great music too, I gave music 5/5! Even more content than my entry, too!
I finished it in one run, so I missed the level names of each level, sadly. The puzzles are good but I must say that without the hint, I just randomly eat pills until I finish the level.
The graphics are very detailed but somehow very similar to a web game series I've seen.
I played the web version and I just realised there wasn't any music. Perhaps that's a bug.
It's pretty fun as I've obviously finished it in one run!
@roman-petrov protip: Don't use both colour and shape to determine the function of some very small items. For example, in my LD game (very short game), every shape has its own distinct colour!
I suggest you to play my game to see how different colours and shapes can be used, and still can be recognised easily.
That was a really nice puzzle game you have there, with all kind of possibilities! With more levels you could possibly even sell it for some low price.
Definitely having a fun time playing it. And I thought the harder level was the one with a row of blue/green blocks on the right in a cramped space. (obviously the final yellow level was hard too)
I'd probably also like to have something so that we can replay the game, now that I've finished it.
Thanks! This was fun!
It's definitely an interactive story. I did played twice with 2 different endings. (one with Max leaving and one with car flipping)
The writing is nice, even if the theme is a bit spelt out loud.
The story is fine, but I must say it's a bit hard to identify with the characters. (But that's probably just me, or perhaps the fact that everyone's name were ambiguous.) My first run I didn't even realised what the name of the player was until the end scene, because I chose mainly the paths that didn't show the name.
I like the little details that come back from the decisions you made earlier.
I do like the fact that you wrote so much in 3 days.
I'm also not sure about the theme of the story other than 'running out of space'. I mean, I can't get if it's about a birthday party, or a love story, or an alien abduction story, or a dream, or something completely different. It might need a bit more of a focus somewhere.
Fun game! My score was like 2600 years. Surprisingly there were lots of surprise moments in there, and lots of depth. And Lots of Waiting.
I also do wonder how the oxygen use was calculated... i guess some later buildings needs oxygen too but i never guess why or how.
That was a really quick short game (well at least after i figured out which key does what). There were many similar puzzle games in this LD which were harder and more challenging, but this one has the looks and the sound effects.
It's a bit short now but there is still potential to make it a much larger game.
Nice short game. Also really nice looking graphics. I've played it a couple of times, really fun!
If you want to make it a larger game, then you might want more levels and different goals.
I just played the windows version (somehow my browsers still dont support webassembly). It was fun! Most of the time i run out of time, not out of space. The first turn is very tricky, and i missed it many times. Most of the times the thing goes down while the car was still on it, and then the game gets stuck. or sometimes the car flips over between that pole.
I haven't dont many 3d work but i wonder if the car being flipped over is a lot of physics in unity? it seems like very hard to make for me. The music is a bit annoying but is probably fitting for this game. (oh wait, i dont have to vote for music.)
Well done! ^_^
Nice short game, good looking graphics! Played the web version, it's a bit strange to use the space key to continue, but it might fit the theme. :P
Congratulations for making a game that requires WebAssembly!
I might play it in a year or two, but not before I install a browser that supports it.
Oh, yes, there's this of the Jet Set Radio feeling there (even though I haven't actually played that myself).
Looks and plays great. The only thing is that it's very hard to get some of those coins in mid-air.
But I didn't play this game for that anyway, more like just exploring the large area instead.
It's fun.
Wow, that was a very atmospheric game, like some of the boardgames I've played!
Every encounter is random and dangerous.
I've tried to explore the radio station, and it said it was very deadly. Then the game ended with a victory screen, so I'm not sure what happened.
It feels like a good boardgame (and I play a lot of them with my friends), so that is not bad.
@boltkey : Well, I've played Mamono Sweeper a lot, but I still wouldn't consider that to be the main inspiration. I've played way too many turn-based dungeon crawlers/puzzle games lately to say that it's only Mamono Sweeper.
I'd say it's more likely to be Creeper World and Boulderdash for the masses of items and monsters on screen, or the completely randomized world layout. There are probably 3-5 other games to blame too. But I hope that I could make a game that I could play once every day with a randomized field and still getting a challenge.
I do plan to work a bit more on it to make a game I can play every day with some challenges in it. As you can see the simple layout can already be solved by using many of the rules together. In a later version I can make it easier too, but I just wanted something challenging for myself for the LD entry.
@sethr : This game being more of a challenging dungeon, I'd say you should try to learn and understand the rules, but the most important thing in this game is 'inventory management'. Your ATK and DEF is based on your inventory and that's basically the way to move forward.
@srakowski @rebecca-kremer : Thanks you for playing and your suggestion to make it more obvious where the player starts. I think it's a great idea and if i have time for a post-compo version I'd certainly try to add it in! I ran out of time doing compo so I ended up doing the most important stuff.
@rebecca-kremer : the HP loss is a great idea too!
@jihem : I have no idea how to write for mobile. I also just added a screen capture in the description. I had planned that but I was very tired. Thanks for playing!
Thanks for all the comments!
@peachtreeoath @antti-tiihonen @loveapplegames It's funny you say it's like Desktop Dungeons. Obviously I've played that before (but a long time ago) and I didn't even noticed the similarity before. I wasn't planning to add more levels, but like Desktop Dungeons, it's possible to add new monsters into it and even more levels. I can try it but it will involve even more tweaking (and I'm really busy this month).
As for the graphics and music and other stuff, I can probably have an option to remove the brownish background tiles to make the tiles stand out more, but I'm really bad at making graphics and music...
@antti-tiihonen as for the squinting, sorry about that... I can probably try something to make the different categories looking a bit different, although I also noticed, while playing, is that part of the fun is to find the item patterns yourself. That doesn't mean I can't make it easier for the eyes for people who would like to skip that part. I can probably just change the floor colours to match items and enemies, but it take some time before I have time for it.
@gwinnell Thanks for playing.
The game is NOT guaranteed to be possible. It's randomly generated. However, to mitigate that, you are given 5 items at the beginning, and there are lots of items to be found. So the chance is pretty much 95%+ I'd say that most layouts should be possible.
I just played the game today (again), and I could finish that one generated map with full health, so I can only suggest you to play again.
As for the small size of the game, with a browser resize, that's intentional. I've played games in this LD that didn't fit my screen, so I'd rather be conservative. (Also I can't draw so more pixels is just not going to help. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: )
The game is also larger than my screen but I can manage for the most part.
Of course everything being samey is a bit hard to follow. It's even made harder if some of the gems are located off screen.
I've managed to sacrifice once, but the second time I arrived there the cauldron is gone and I have no idea where to sacrifice.
The idea is nice. And a timer, and a partial missing screen, and samey rooms with disappearing cauldrons makes the game really a challenge!
I've tried to resize the window but it just didn't work. Oh well.
I've played the game by killing most people using risky routes, that means less food usage, too.
In the end I got like 700 fuel from carbon and 300 fuel from food.
That was fun, and I think I had like 130 people left or something.
Most work was clicking the conversion buttons, since you can only convert 50 each time. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
I finally finished it this time... My previous play I died a lot by touching spikes.
Nice game, and I think everyone else said it already.
I must say I like those moving smokes, so you don't need to change them for me.
Flying is very complicated, earth is gone so far away now, going to the destination is a lot of planning, and if you near two planets you don't know where you'll land.
The building stuff is too easy and only has one choice for your long freight ship.
Trading stuff is fine, and prices will probably end up similar enough someday.
Music is fine for this kind of game.
That's a lot of stuff you've made within 48 hours!
I did used 1 more grenade than necessary...
Nice twist on the genre.
You also designed a lot of levels in 3 days.
I just finished the game, and I'm just in awe...
How do you even fit so much in 48 hours?!! I don't think I could even get 1 level in 48 hours, and you got so many
There were a lot of times I just wondered why I needed to set up so many robots by myself, walking to the same place again and again, but still I think this should end up pretty high, if it gets enough ratings.
Also, I should look at your game again to see how you managed to make so many tiles so quickly... I guess you used a lot of the same times but different shades.
Nice game, there's even a tutorial in game too!
Nice sounds, they really helped. Also speech!
I don't understand why you sometimes catch a dog and other times you move onto the destination.
The boss is really hard and there are a lot of dogs there.
Well done! Especially the speech is great.
I like this time you made a very long introduction and that your puzzles are much smaller in size.
The idea with 4 different elements and different uses is really cool.
I really like the skewed isometric view but somehow it really makes the game a bit harder to guess which squares are empty.
Also, the orbs are a bit hard to guess what they do. I looked at the images inside the orb and I still had to guess. I'd suggest really large sharp icons inside the orbs to let me decide what it meant. For example, that green orb with a very small green + inside was hard to guess, while the blue orb was very clear what it did.
With a bit more levels the game would be great.
Still, I've played many of your LD games now, and it's still well worth playing!
It's a really nice fast paced game. It also really needs you to hold so many keys at once.
Basically I had to hold the right button, and the up or down button, and the mouse button while navigating many randomly generated gears.
It's like a nice shooter while you have to keep your hand on the right key and shoot with mouse.
Nice idea! I feel like needing a lot of arms to control everything too.
Music is also brilliant.
The Main screen image alone already shows how good the visuals are.
So much done with so many people is probably already a win.
I just played the game... Didn't managed to finish the final level, but it's all fun.
There are many games where you use your previous bodies to reach new places, but this one is different because all the physics over the place. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
I can't do physics in 48 hours, so this is impressive enough!
https://imgur.com/qYExzsH (can't link large images, so i used imgur instead)
I didn't hear any music but this is still entertaining.
Also I'm not sure if there is something I can do to go back to the main menu, other than F5.
You made so many pixel graphics in 3 days? That's quite impressive (for me).
yes, i missed that M key because i only want to go back when i finished a level... and of course by then, that text was gone :stuck_out_tongue:
and no strange things in the javascript console, perhaps it's an old browser. no biggie.
I  LOL'd so much while playing the game. It's genuine funny, or perhaps it just resembles how much time I didn't spent on making the game during an LD.
Before I played this game I feel really bad not spending all my time developing during an LD, but now I don't feel that bad now.
The graphics and the music is also much better than I ever can do in 48 hours, well done!
Played it, finished it, and it was a real fun game. Also very good looking for 3 days work!
Like how those hints were everywhere.
I've made a metroidvania game a few LDs ago, but this one looks so great I might go learn unity for the 3d effects.
Well done!
A nice game. I finished it.
And I don't know what those :skull: blocks do.
Nice level design.
If you want a good rating, you should play and judge some more games, though.
I like the look of it. It's good that you really only need to click 100 times to get the demon and then you can idle until the game ends. Any more and I'd probably have stopped playing.
I also like that every group of monsters are only going after the same target, that means I don't have to buy another one.
A nice short good looking clicker game.
I got like 17 relics when I finished the game, so that's pretty fine.
It took a while to understand the rules, but when you get it, it's fun.
Sacrificing makes the game a lot easier.
Also you only used the 3rd plates only once. Maybe you can use it more in newer levels.
I just played and finished the game before I found this page, so while there are a lot of hidden rules, if you guessed what you're doing you can finish the game easily.
However, the only thing I needed to remove was the jetpack, and it made the game actually a lot easier to play after that.
It's a very nice game; I've finished it. And it looks great too! Please continue like this.
An interesting puzzle game. I was so focused on the narrative I didn't even noticed I finished the game lol.
I guess most of it has already been said.
Nice mechanics, a lot of levels within 3 days.
Cool game and interesting narrative, nice simple graphics and i didn't listen to the music.
Apart for hard to aim, it's also very hard to jump using the space bar.
I got only 2 goats before I gave up. My hand was cramped using this alternative keyboard controls.
I like the idea and I'd probably consider both the aiming problems and the jumping as game-breaking bugs and let you fix it within compo time.
I'd like to finish the game but it really is too hard for me right now. Perhaps fix the game with auto-aim :stuck_out_tongue:
Also, nice idea, nice level design, nice graphics.
That was a really fun game. I finished it, in one play (with lots of undo's and resets :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: )
I like that the levels give room to experiment instead of just handholding with super easy tutorials.
A lot of times I find myself being scared to experiment in this game, but your levels encourage just that.
I'm plesantly surprised.
The only hard part of the game is that all the different directions has very similar colours, and I was constantly guessing which direction this colour was representing.
That was a great reverse metroidvania game!
I finished it with talking to everyone.
I like that you lose skills every time you talk to a person, however you don't know which skill you lose after you talked to them.
Level design is great!
There was one level where I had problems with an invisible wall, but other than that the platforming was acceptable.
I just played and completed the game. This was really fun!
Guessing what everything does was interesting too, but it really took me the very last level before there was any need to understand what anything worked, before that I was just random switching lines and still winning.
This was a nice game and I completed it. Good puzzle game!
So I just played it for some laps and I got a lap time of 60 seconds. O and this is in Unity, which is a bit different than usual.
Also I like the extra tracks that you get if you just drive straight ahead from the starting position.
@argon Thank you very much for noticing! I've decided that this is a pretty game-breaking bug, so I've just fixed this in the jam version. I mean the battery resetting part.
Should be updated by now.
As for impossible maps, the map is completely randomly generated, and that means there will be maps that will be literally impossible, and I think that's fine.
@ic-rainbow Sorry, I have no idea what a bot API is.
@jacksgamessucks The robot you control has a small animation. I have no idea how much more this can be improved without confusing the player. Thanks for liking it.
@spiralhalo Thanks for reporting. I've finally managed to fix that bug now, thanks.
@kjscott I don't think that's a bug, it's because the game adds a delay whenever a key is pressed to distinguish between keypresses. This means quick keypresses are (intentionally) not detected, but you can hold a key to move slowly.
Thanks for playing.
@voidsay I'm not very good at music. I was already happy to finish the game within time so there was no time for music.
@jorim I originally planned to make some well designed levels but due to time constraints I ended up with this simple level generator.
And no, there is intentionally no algorithm implemented to make it solvable. It's not that hard (I've solved all the problems of Advent of Code last year and this is easier.) but it takes time and gives too little. Also I get frustrated if I know if it's solvable. Now I can just say: "oh it's random" if I can't solve it.
This is a good looking and nicely built game. I'm not too good with the timing and got stuck quite early, but it's still a good game!
This was a lot of fun! The last level was hard enough. You could probably build on it if you want.
Beautiful graphics and nice music too, i think it's some classical piece and then the deflation sound too.
No I'm not very good at the game and helemaal niet slecht!
Hi! I just played this game on chrome, but it was very sluggish and when i got my first extra storage, the game ended. Also the fonts were barely visible.
Is that intentional or is that just a bug on the browser side?
Did I mention that despite all this, it looks and sounds great?
I found the unicorn too! I think it's a great idea to make a game together with your kids. And their drawings are much, much better than mine. Yay!
Also the signs are really devious.
Fantastic storytelling and Great atmosphere. It's a short game but probably just as well, with different endings.
You've probably already know about the North-East/West thing, but otherwise it's just fine.
A nice short 'keep the mouse inside' game. I really like the rolling mouse graphics.
So much colours too! I don't think I can ever make this kind of graphics.
I like the idea and it's like a great puzzle.
I did got stuck at level 4 or 5 with those circular yellow cheese things.
In fact, I did it correctly and I lit my torch at the tree even with turns left, but the game just tells me it's over. I think that's a bug you should (and are allowed to) fix.
This was funnier than I thought. Also shows that you can make a game with text only.
Such an awesome looking game! Everything looks like as if it's a real arcade machine. The pixel scoreboard, the reflections, the green balls, they just look real!
I sometimes have a problem that after the first round the vac doesn't work and I'll have to restart, but it looks awesome
The music is great here! The puzzles are a bit easy but fine enough for a compo game. I'll see that 25 pound note soon, I hope  The story is great too.
Nice game. I got to the wall jump part (in the compo version) but that got too hard for me.
Nice looking and music and lots of very bumpy physics. Also the interesting use of very imprecise movements and spike hitboxes everywhere. Also crumbling blocks looks very similar to regular blocks but maybe this got better in a later version.
Took me a while to understand I can use WASD to move around. After that, it's actually a fun game!
A one button game that is nice and still complicated and challenging! Also really nice music too! Well done!
I have only found this after LD was over, but I just wanted to say that it's a nice game! And I finished it in one run, too!
That was really quite fun. In the end I also figured out you can swap between virus and phage and I can win most of the time now. Very nicely done.
The graphics are nice but there is not much a game there, yet.
There is basically just one choice, and half the arrows don't work.
Then again, well done for completeing your first jam.
I've played the updated version and I managed to get home. This was fun.
It took a while to understand what you need to do and that was good too.
One thing you could improve is to see if it can fit in say, 1024x768 screen. Now I have a bit larger screen but I can't play this in a window now, because the text would be illegible.
I didn't expected a good clicker game this time but this one is.
EDIT: I just tried playing the original version too, but my browser won't let me play these game locally.
Wow, the area is really large and so much collecting! I always run from fight but this is still fun to play!
Sorry double post.
This looks really great and I have no clue what to do but it's still fun! Especially the space walking!
I like these tree saving games. My first game got to 80 turns and then I got so many lightnings that I can't help. This is fun.
Sometimes it's difficult to see behind the tall trees to know if I can put things there or not. It's also hard to guess in which turn your tree is. But the game is still fun. :)
Nice little game. I could go on talking about how hard or punishing or that you restart from the beginning, but I'll just say that the graphics look great and the music is okay too.
I got to level 4 but it's just too much work for me to continue.
Really nice game. It's a bit hard for me though. I know which thing I want to select but I never can get it correctly before the guy gets himself killed. Also, short music.
Nice idea and fun to play. I won a game too. And yes it'd be nice to see how every path is doing to plan for it, also it would be nice to see what those cards do before I click on them.
For 48 hours this is a really nice completed game! You even had time to add a losing animation for it too!
Also I like that the energy goes up slowly, unlike some other games where if you make a mistake you can never recover.
Lots of potential here! Just more levels and you can probably sell it. Nice graphics and music too!
I really liked the world and the atmosphere. I've mostly just jump past every bat and reached the end. I think I missed the final dialogue because of that.
What would really helped is to have a button to skip all the dialogue, I restarted and had to hold enter until every text was gone.
Beautifully done.
Yes, I remember playing that game too, and if it wasn't for that game I can't finish this game so quickly.
I did try running it, but I got a SDL error, something like "SDL_GL_CreateContext", "sdlExceptionError = "Could not create GL context: The operation completed successfully.\r\n"
Both the jam version and the post jam version gave the same error.
Lots of Potential here! It's always hard to do something within 72 hours, but I think you've done a great start already. The fact that you're a team makes it already harder to do something in 3 days, so I'm sure your next LD will be better!
Also, you can spend time to improve this, if you want.
I read all of the instructions and I still got confused. I may have to take another day to understand what's going on.
Also a lot of the times I'm not sure why things happened... like why I am trying to pick up an ammo, and it got fire immediately, but not sure which direction.
A lot of items look confusing and I never understand why I needed it other than plug holes. Discharging oxygen is never useful since you can't ever plug the walls and doors stay open most of the time. Random spawning monsters makes the game even more complicated.
That being said, it's probably very well done and has lots of stuff. And I am liking it a lot.
I just finished the game with 35+% in both. This was fun and I still haven't played Slay the Spire.
I should also mention that the music is really good.
Also I should say this is not how I do in LD. Usually I just sleep all day and then code when there's inspiration.
Yes, nice game!
(Yes the game may need more questions if it's longer.)
I have downloaded this before but haven't play this yet, should I download the fixed build instead?
Ok, downloaded, played and finished it. i think the game right now has a lot of potential and room for improvement! Unlike some other person here, I'd suggest not to add screenshakes in.
The atmosphere is great! I think I jumped several times while playing. It's also a bit hard for me to watch spiders and then aim correctly.
Nice little game! I really like the reproduction animation! Some of the meteors are really quick and hard to click too.
I've played for an hour and then gave up. It takes a bit too long and both my hands got cramp.
You could probably start all from level 5 and it would still be very challenging.
At least you could now add microtransactions to speed up the game
Other than that, it's a fine game.
Short and Sweet and Room for Improvements and some bugs (but as they are already discussed before I'll leave it at that).
If you're planning to give this to kids I'd suggest you add some borders between the tiles so that the children can count easier how many steps they need. Also, an undo button.
@coryru @hempuli @neontropics @dob Thanks for playing. Sorry I didn't had more time to add sounds or monsters.
@dob I feel much better now, thank you. I've only play one or two LD games before today but today I've played a bit more LD games, so I must be feeling better!
@goggleskitty @krassenstein @thulium-games Thanks for playing.
@krassenstein That problem you found is actually a setting for me to make sure that I didn't accidentally press some keys too often. I've set it already to as low as possible, but it seems your reaction speed is so much better!
The game looks so lovely and the music is so moody! Everything was so good looking and even the clouds were so good looking!
I was a bit worried when my bubbles were gone, but then I realised I must have reached the end.
The rocks a re nice looking, the voice acting is great, and the mechanics are complex. I finished the game but i did use all my bombs at the last level because i was tired by then.
i think it took me to the final level until i realised that the blue rocks aren't the same as the green ones. They look similar to me when small and the smaller rocks seem to have less colour. But i still finished the levels in my first go.
I was (pleasantly) surprised the simple rules already have that much complexity!
Nice game! i think i've played it a bit longer than i should have.
temp555.png
I think it was only at the very last dive that i realise that i unlocked the dash. dashing through the seaweed is fun. the angling fishes are fun too, but by that time i only go after gems and chests.
So cute! :hamster: The game was also very challenging.
I can click on the 1 craftable object and it generates many times.
Anyway, great atmosphere and feel. I dived right away to the bottom and only got back up to find collectables.
The fishes that swim away only if you get too close is a nice touch!
Due to my motion sickness with 3d games, I've only played a few levels, but what I saw was a well done 3d game setting in space, where you can move and look at and grapple in all directions. Well done!
So I just completed the game. It has really nice puzzles in there. The rules are refreshing, unlike most of the boulderdash rules. The 'get item only when cant be push' is interesting and it gives a lot of puzzle possibilities, and the 2 turn bombs is nice and easy, and the earth dropping at bomb blasts is a very complex rule.
The puzzles shows off a lot interactions between the rules, and nice graphics too! I can't do that much in 72 hours myself, so you must have done a lot during the jam.
If you are going to update the game, I'd hope you can make the game window movable, so that I can watch your stream and play the game at the same time. :)
Anyway, I really enjoyed it.
I've already played so many floors and only reading the comments now I realised I could have just throw the thing to kill slimes.
Anyway, well done for achieving so much in just a weekend!
I just got to the end of the game. The first part is fine, but becomes really great when I finally reached the golden blocks. It also took me a long time before I understood how the bubbles worked.
You've done so much in 72 hours! Also the black white blue graphics style is great too!
Such a nice game, it probably needs to be a retail game.
It was a nice puzzle game and I really like that turn based jumping. :)
The ending was also very deep, too. :joystick:
The folders that you need to travel before finding the .exe file was a nice touch.
You made so many minigames within the jam time, that's a lot!
Took me a while to understand how the pong paddles worked; I've tried every single key on the keyboard lol :stuck_out_tongue:
I didn't found the memory matching game while playing; i did got 10-20 pong levels instead.
Nice game!
This was an interesting puzzle game. Those randomly generated dutch town names are cool. If you know the real towns you could guess which parts they are from.
It took me a while to understand the rules and figured out how the game can end. And this was my score on a second play.
image_2021-05-01_024723.png
I enjoyed it.
It was short but you can feel the amount of work and love that's put into it. I must say I was surprised this one actually contains some really good (textual) jokes!
Of course I should also say that the graphics looks really well made.
Short and sweet.
This was a very zen like game. It really does give the feeling of deep space. Also this reminds me of the stars that I watched when I was young.
This is such a nice concept. I enjoyed playing it. Good luck getting to 20!
