I am world. Really interesting, I enjoyed the atmospheric music, I'm impressed at being able to get modeling and all that done in time. Good job!

Wow! I love this. I have only played it once but I reached what I assume is the end
As mentioned above - the music and atmosphere is excellent. In my opinion - there is the seed of a proper "God Game" here - I'm thinking of games like "Populous" but with your addition of "the elements" and expansion.
I look forward to reviewing this and I hope you are able to pursue it further.
Nice! great idea, fun game. I hope you will take this game further. Nice models nad music. The motion of the player is a bit weird and jump a bit.
Great game. Good job!
The ambience is brilliant. You put a lot of effort into the assets and it shows. I also like how every land hex has a unique name and statistics, even though the naming does bug out for the suns and the god, which segues nicely to my gripes.
"Get God!" echoes the command. God turns out to be a blue orb that does nothing, what a surprise! Later when you are instructed to destroy said god nothing happens to them, but the super helpful turtle bites the bullet. What is this, I don't even?!
The broken English doesn't make understanding this weird theology any easier.
Overall an interesting atmospheric experience, with some issues. Have a :milky_way::turtle:
@huvaakoodia thanks for the feedback! The god is what allows you to progress from feral life to primitive, but I suppose I never explained that properly. Having my game mechanics come across clearly is something I struggle with more than anything, so I'm grateful you pointed this out.
In the spirit of addressing your other complaint, allow me to try and give you a narrative to explain the turtle's death. (Inasmuch as a narrative can be scraped together from panicked ramblings scribbled during the last few hours of LD) Consider this: the glowing orb you got during the game did only circumstantial work, uplifting some animals and giving them something to stare at in the night sky. Sure, it got the glory and the title, but when you consider who did the heavy lifting of making the world come together, you might be tempted to reconsider who the true god is.
(To be clear, this is in no way an expression of my own beliefs. But I'm sure you could chalk this up to symbolize any number of belief systems, if that's your thing.)
The gameplay was abstract and simple, but it felt intended and was pretty nice. The graphics were good, and the game felt very ambient and the overall mood was nice. Well done!
I always say that games should have a message. And this has one, which makes me happy even though I'm not sure if I agree with this. The game already has a pretty complex mechanics, which is technically impressive. The game eventually frozen up on my PC, which added to further enigma.
Nice take on the theme, though I found it a bit confusing.

This game was beautiful. Absolutely relaxing.
I do wish there was a sandbox mode that let me be as big of a world as I can be!
Thank you for making such a great game.
I love Ludum Dare for those kind of games. Really relaxing, with a original mood. The end is perfect. Best game that I tried so far ;)
Don't explain the end in the comments also :o So that everyone can have his own opinion about it. I didn't understand the system with the water also? Is there a specific way of putting the tiles together? I just placed them randomly and it worked so...
Congratulations for your amazing game anyway !
Mood is the strongest part of the game, really relaxing :D, at first I didn't know what to do but later it's pretty intuitive, interesting idea
Just gave my ratings!
I have now rated your game!
Very nice work. As a game I found it a little confusing but as an experience it was certainly interesting. It is memorable and leaves an impression!
This game had nice pace, with kinda slow-moving space turtle. It was difficult to figure out what to do in the game, but when matching the hexagonal stuff, it showed what kind of element it is, but I didn't figure out if there's anything else that can be done. But the graphics looks nice, with a space-themed skybox and nice perspective with large number of objects in the space. Dunno exactly how the "a small world" is implemented, but at least the turtle's movement is limited to small area of the space.
Sounds are good, and the gfx was nice - the border of the space looked like it would be some border that can be "opened" if collecting enough hexagonal stuff, since there were objects beyond the limits where turtle is allowed to move. But looks nice.
Loooooooooooooove this. I AM WORLD.
I can't say I have much criticsm for this game, the mood is great and it has a nice theme. But what I can say about this is that I didn't have much fun with it, the turtle moved really slow and I went too far away so it was a lot of time wasted just waiting for the turtle going to point A to point B.
As for it's mechanics it is really simple so I hope that If you want to expand on this you could give more weight to the gameplay aspect of pairing the ground to make life prosper because I felt that I won without even understanding what did I do right.
Hope this helps.
Absolutely beautiful. All the sound music and visuals add up to create an amazing experience. Great job, probably the best entry I've played so far.
Amazing experience! The music fits perfectly and the graphics have a very nice style.
Hey! This is a great idea. Great mood and definitely has the seed of something really interesting, amazing job in 48h.
Some notes: - The movement is very slow, especially because for me 'god' spawned all the way back behind me. maybe we can speed up as we gain strength? Not sure, it might ruin the mood. - The idea of building a worl on your back is AWESOME, but it didnt really pay off: i didn't feel like it mattered at all what kind of world I built. I can deifinitely see some fun strategy to be had there with the construction though. - Music was good, and fit the mood vey well. Loop point is very obvious though - It took me a while to figure out what's going on.
Overall a really strong entry. Great mood, great visuals especially. :D GOOD JOB
Great game! Although I missed the four elephants standing on the turtle ;-) I really loved the option to zoom in and look closely at the people living on the world. The turtle itself could need a bit of a speed boost, especially in the end. Great entry!
This game is quite innovative. By floating in the void and watching the world and life form, it makes me peace and calm. I was intended to build a super large world, however, the ending is quite unexpecting...Sending my world to destruction just made me sad.
Perface game and perfect intepretion of the theme. Well done!
Loved it pouce vert
Can you explain me how you did the hexagon system that collide each other on the good side ?
This is a beautiful game! You didn't provide a mac download, so I downloaded the Unity source and hit "play" in the editor. When I got to the "Destroy it. Press space", pressing space caused a spinning beach ball and I had to force quit Unity.
I suppose running from source might lead to unexpected bugs! Also, I don't know how the guys with fancy video cards are getting on, but with my onboard graphics, this game runs pretty slow.
Having mentioned all that, this is lovely! I love the concept, the art is awesome, I didn't notice until much later that you can zoom in and out to peer at the "life", and I love all the ideas contained within! Beautiful!
That was glorious, i was world and that was great. That's amazing for Compo, nice job
I pretty liked this game, especially the hexagonal tilebased setting and the relaxing ambient sound. A good game to come down after a hard day :) Good job.
I'm not sure I have anything productive to contribute, but just wanted to note that this was an intriguing and novel experience. But first, beautiful aesthetic. The music combined with everything in the visual style seemed carefully and thoughtfully crafted (although the swirls in the background might have been a little bit kitsch).
I, too, kind of assembled hexes randomly without really considering height or heat or volcanos or water and I progressed and finished the game anyways. If this was meant to give the player tradeoffs to make, I didn't experience that.
I kind of wish it lasted longer. I saw all the giant pieces out past the largest orbit and got excited that I was going to have a Katamari Damacy experience where my turtle would grow larger and faster and my hex world would become huge and compex. But I accept that that may not be the narrative you were intending to guide the player along.
Really cool game! I wish it didnt ended this quickly... I could probably put tiles on the world all day :)
Was the game or title inspired by any chance of the new Gaurdians of the Galaxy movie? Haha. This was my favourite game so far, I was surprised how polished the game felt. The idea of spreading life was interesting. For some reason the music sounded at times really bad in quality, not sure if that is because of my headphones but the higher pitched parts of the soundtrack gave me a headache :p Not sure if anyone else experienced that or if it was just the poor quality of my headphones.
Another thing that could be improved is the visibility of the popup messages, it was hard to read the red text on a dark background so sometimes I didn't see it. Not sure if there was some more advanced strategy to the game but an in-game tutorial explaining how the different tiles affect the world might have been helpful. Anyway the game experience is really awesome and I'm impressed with the mechanics of the game. Excellent job!
Wow, this was a really nice and weird game. Thanks for creating this.
This is a fantastic interpretation of the theme, and the music really adds to the mood. I like the core gameplay concept a lot, too. While it's appropriate that the game moves a little slower than average, if I had to level a complaint I'd say it's a bit _too_ slow; specifically, not the pace of improvement (which is fine), but the actual pace of your movement through space; it takes a long time to get anywhere. Also, I wish there was a button that caused the text to advance more quickly, because I was often sitting there waiting for it to fade so I could see the next message.
Those things aside, I _love_ this entry, especially as a compo entry. I'm not 100% sure (I've not been keeping careful track) but this is probably the highest rating I've given to a Compo entry this LD.
Also, the first volcano I picked up was named "Fires of Armok", love that reference.
All in all, great job!
