Didn't understand what to do at first with the glove then finally I shot it and understood. Really fun game, completed it, only found 1 secret but I really enjoyed it and loved the audio and art too.

the game itself is really fun to play but for me i think it’s to hard and should be more intuitive. After the glove i didn’t knew what to do. But graphics and audio is on really good standard

Really cool! I love the level design, the controls are really rigid and some plateform phase can be difficult but it's great anyway! The end and the little story is cool! I have only found 1 secret.

Side note : If you die before getting the power glove you can't pass the first door Capture.PNG

@togimaro oops! We didn't think of that bug! We'll be sure to fix it.

Thanks for your feedback!

I have so many good things to say about this game, so I'll break it down into sections.

For audio design, I loved the synth the plays as a text sound effect. The background track worked well with the mood and supported the sfx of the game.

Graphically, I can tell a lot of thought went into the sprites and animations. The look appealing and serve to enhance the mood.

Spoilers for the game's story in this paragraph: The story really hit hard. It managed to get across a ton of emotion in such a short time, and that's quite commendable. The poetic justice of the first robot sacrificing himself just so you could go on to sacrifice yourself in turn is phenomenal. The mysterious voice also has great characterization, and how it makes you feel important and loved only to lead you to the cold ending. I do feel somewhat betrayed by the voice, but I also feel as though it still appreciates me for what I did. (Oh, and also I totally dig how roboy bows when giving his power to the master at the end.)

Gameplay was the most lacking of the elements, that's not to say it was bad though. controls were very clunky and hard to get used to. The levels were decent, but most of their difficulty came from the awkward controls. i would have loved to see more levels and more elements to puzzle around.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this game and I hope it gets much more attention. cheers.

@death-is-cold, Thanks for the awesome review, especially sharing your perspective on the story!

If we had a few more hours, we would have added more to the gameplay elements and made the environment more interesting (dern!).

I really loved this game!! Great job on the art, the mood, and the gameplay. The game is really solid, and I'm happy I've had a chance to play it.

Some bugs I noticed: I ended up running into a bug where you are underneath the floating platforms, and if they come down on your head or you jump upward into the bottom, you get stuck to the platform and cannot get off unless you press the k button to drain all your juice.

Also, I'm unsure why the game was asking me to press A at first, which I couldn't get to work, but after loading it 3 times it turned into K, which made it so I could play. Was it the 'A' key?

I wasn't able to get to the end yet. There's a rectangular laser obstacle that I found pretty difficult. Thanks for sharing this game, and I hope it gets a lot of attention :D

That was amazing!!

It felt like I was playing a fully completed project. The controls were tight and responsive, the audio was on point with the narrative, there were secrets, good color schemes to fit the levels, and a good story.

I kindof wish there were a bit more 'dying robots' that you could collect their parts from, but that is probably something to add with more time.

Thank you very much for creating this experience, I would love to see this as a full on fleshed out game. Btw, that is probably the best 'closing out of the game window' I've experience in a long time.

dijaguy 2017-08-02 00:29

@terribly-awesome-games, thanks for playing and I hope you finish! I noticed the getting stuck under the platforms bug too. Thankful it wasn't game-breaking.

I believe the 'A' key tip is if you wanted to use a game pad (Xbox 360 controller).

dijaguy 2017-08-02 00:29

@cnoble, haha 'dying robots' was going to be our focus for pickups... I'm sad we only got one in. Thanks for all of the affirming feedback!

This game was super sweet! I loved the interpretation of the theme and the gameplay was super solid. The art and sound was terrific, and was very pleased playing. The only thing I didn't know about was the elevator pads (thought they were tables at first, haha). Other than that, superb game, continue making this!

Very nice game!Love it!

gil4 2017-08-02 12:40

Great entry, love it as a Metroidvania fan. I guess it could use a bit more obstacles or even enemies, but the overall vibe is just so Metroid-ish, 5/5 for mood. :3

svr-audio 2017-08-02 15:58

Very cute game, both art and sounds are amazing, real good work, the game is fun, although I think maybe some more instructions would help the player, but overall is an above the average ld game. Good game =D

lamm 2017-08-02 23:56

I love the mood of this game! I did get a little frustrated timing the jumps from the platforms, but overall it wasn't *too* difficult, and I was still enjoying myself trying to figure it out which is so important. Using J and K was an odd setup and it felt a bit clunky but after a while I adjusted to it. Could use a little more instruction initially but I figured it out quickly enough. I thought the background noises for the text, especially for the big robot, were dissonant and distracting, but overall the audio was pretty on point. The art style is really nice, the color palate works really great together and it is overall very visually pleasing. The animation is pretty smooth; I did get stuck in the robot who gave me the glove but once I reloaded I couldn't replicate it. I adore the megaman-style scrollers. The story is very touching, I'm impressed that so much got done in such a short amount of time. Overall this was a very enjoyable game and I'll definitely be checking back for updates! Great job guys!

Awesome game and the fact that there were only 2 people working at it, makes it even more awesome. I enjoy playing hard games so I think the game and level design are spot on. The details in both graphics and audio makes everything even better. Excellent game, great job!

neon 2017-08-03 04:03

Really cool atmosphere, the graphics and sound effects come together in a really good way. Feels like Megaman's existential brother. Great job

I love the art of this game! I was playing it and enjoying it a lot, but then it bugged and then crashed :( I was trying to get down the platform but it keep going up, so the roboy gets stuck in the middle and I couldn't get out of there. And after that the game just crashed. I took a screenshot so you can see it. But it is a really nice game, I loved the concept and as I said, the art is really nice :)

albuixech 2017-08-03 20:56

Really nice. Did not expect to find the gauntled. The sounds were also really good, and the presure of running low on battery made it quite exciting. Keep it up! Great game.

rune-drawer 2017-08-05 00:04

Whoa! this game was so short and good! want more ٩(^ᴗ^)۶ Impressive mood, especially combination of dialogue and sounds. Totally would like to play that as a full game (/¯–‿・)/¯

nezumi-games 2017-08-06 18:10

Cool game! It had a nice mood to it and I really liked the take on the theme. I found it frustrating when I died mere steps away from the next checkpoint. Also I was using keyboard controls, and found it odd that I had to press 'J' to interact with something and 'K' to continue the text, instead of 'J' to continue the text.

christina-antoinette-neofotistou 2017-08-06 20:51

Loved all the metroidvania elements! How did you find time to code all that!!! <3 Such a polished game for a Jam!

sbeif 2017-08-09 11:28

This is a gem! Really nice job on everything, from music to graphics to gameplay to story. I really liked the narrative and the ending. Really a great entry!

g12345 2017-08-12 09:49

Nice game. Only found all the secrets after i completed it once.

Nice graphics and animations, story and stuff. Just the gameplay and secrets were a bit annoying.

But that's fine for a LD game.

eremiell 2017-08-22 05:53

Gi! Could we please possibly get a Linux64 or at least HTML5 version? Thanks!

arden 2017-08-22 18:12

Thanks for your support everyone! We're definitely pleased to be 40th overall!

@eremiell, thanks for the request. We don't currently have the capacity to port the game to Linux or HTML5, but we'll keep that request in mind!
