Don't Mess With Totems by winesays 2015-12-16T12:39:00
I think this is the first game where I have like nothing to say...really...it's just awesome, can't believe this was made within a ludum dare :D

I think this is the first game where I have like nothing to say...really...it's just awesome, can't believe this was made within a ludum dare :D
wow, this game is superb :D
music: hint of james bond movies and mission impossible
Fun: you don't walk, you just hook everywhere! (I didn't even try walking XD)
Graphics: fittingly cartoony and stylish with those sunglasses
Humor: the transition screen says "dr.evil industries". which side is agent hooker working for?XD who are those random people in labcoats standing around? why are there round saws covering walls? is putting on sunglasses on lvl exit making me see better in the next?;D
also....theme usage of using ingame representation of only two buttons aswell as only using mousebuttons for playing :D
I love it :D and half of the time I was trying to create music with my walking sounds and not to mention I was imitating those very natural dino sounds while playing XD
I like how fluid it's growth feels :)
I liked the artstyle alot and I enjoyed the relative quietness or calmness of the game, was kinda relaxing :)
soooo I liked the music, it felt very atmospheric and I liked the mechanics :) the only thing that felt anxiety inducing was that charging up the meditation bar to get light was feeling very slow and I felt like I don't know where to look with my eyes, since keeping track of recharging the bar enough to get light AND watching where the monsters are, was a bit overwhelming and I only have 2 eyes :) would have been nice to get a visual feedback on herself to see if I'm charged enough, so my eyes wouldn't need to jump so much. (instead of the bar)
it's interesting concept that something that seems unrelated to a relationship can affect it so much :)
The way fighting works was not very fun, would have liked to be able to do some sort of side sweep so my aiming direction wouldn't change
The Screenshots were already promising, but now that I could play it, I like it even more ^^ the music is beautifully reflecting the "day by day life", the little "gulp" when having stolen yet another animals home was hilarious and overall I really had fun :) Only thing that I think would have added alot more to it is sounds(the music helped to overplay that though).
Oh and I liked how clearly defined the game goals are and the exit of the game feels not out of place at all. It's a bit like the game is your memories from that year written down in that letter :)
Like it alot :)
the graphics are insane for this short amount of time, specially all the particle effects/sounds and music!
Theme wise, I don't really see growing, neither 2 button controls.
It's alot of fun to just fly around and destroy things :D aswell as trying to figure out these puzzles :D
can definitely say I like this one :D you did well transferring the theme also :o
Very nice, it's a bit hard to get into it though, regarding the changes of characters behaviour with only 2 buttons and for some reason the later lvls had textures replaced with pure black (from other comments I would say it's the resolutions fault) overall, the atmosphere was nice and the character visual changes including the skill changes were really interesting :) and I like shapeshifting :D
argh! the controls! didnt really understand what the arrows on the top were about and it felt quite random if he would follow my commands. It's fitting to the theme, but I thought it felt a little too difficult and frustrating. Music was very nice :D
hehe, those poor blobs...the corpses were stacking at first because I couldn't figure out how to get more food XD after Initial struggle to figure out if there is more to it than eating 3 morsels and fighting, I was quite pleased with the fun generated by pooping and growing :D
difficult to get used to the controls but the whole atmosphere and graphics and music are stunning :O
wow :D In the beginning of the game I was already with anticipation waiting for the "cool" feeling I would get of defeating alot of those monsters in rapid succession, just because I could already feel how those controls and graphics would respond well to fast paced and I was right, that the fast paced looked epic :D I had alot of fun playing this. Thanks for making it ^^
The graphics are really nice and I think the game idea is very unique and innovative, only negative points that I could see was some bug, after changing from cube to ball and dropping on a recharging surface, it didn't always lit up to recharge, which then made it impossible to continue playing. And I got the feeling that the difficulty ramped up pretty steep, I couldn't figure out how to get over that trench with narrow platforms without physics always kicking me over the ledge.
I had quite many difficulties putting things I attracted into place, was feeling as if a feedback is missing to tell me that "now it's frozen, you can release the hold button" even though I was hearing the sounds, but some visual feedback like change in color or so, would have been nice. Also the control of the box felt difficult, specially if I accidentally hit the box somewhere and it started rotating weirdly so I couldn't really use it as platform anymore, putting it on flat ground helped, but it felt like a workaround, would have liked some spinning controls. Else than that, I did like the game mechanics themselves, the way you had to use objects to get through the level and that slight foreign feeling in those flying island world, aswell as the dying trees, was making me feel like I'm actually rescuing that seed from a world falling apart :)
at some point I couldn't pick up resources anymore when I was almost touching the other eye :/
I liked the music, but I have to say that even though I was reading the how to play description I was confused on what those 2 towers were actually doing, so I was mostly randomly picking up stuff and trying to balance it XD
nice peaceful experience. Only thing that bugged me a little bit, is that growing new branches didn't always seem to add where I was clicking :/ so I had to check a few times to see if it's entirely random or not, but they were adding to the branch I clicked on, just seemed the Hitboxes were not clear.
I agree, the #15 is the nicest ending :) and coincidentially it's like my life right now also :) I also became mom 1 year ago and likewise I'm struggling with trying to be a good mom, so this game is hitting quite a spot for me.
haha it's fun that everything that was slowing you down in the beginning is later just assimilated ;D
argh, forgot to rate something*submits*
very interesting game and even though I wished some of the backgrounds would have been more distinctive from the foreground(different brightness) I was impressed by using crosspaper to make the game graphics :D and in overall the controls were very interesting too, keeping to the two button controls but giving more and more options how to use them over time (or more advanced)
It's nice to see that it worked out after you had so much trouble with collisions :D and even though my spacebar finger was twitching a few times I really liked the way I had to think for a moment when there were no jumppads anymore but only enemies ;D hehehe
I need to beat this Highscore somehow....>.>....<.< and it has cats!
Hehe at first I was thinking that Hill might be a face :D
enemy units are walking/driving backwards and are sometimes vanishing into the ground, there is no feedback of the "eating" actually happening, there is randomly a splatter effect either appearing or not.
It honestly doesn't feel very good to play, since it never really changes.
Have to say though, that the music and bloodsplatter creates an eerie feeling, which I guess is intended, therefore I say the mood is fine.
and in terms of innovation...what better way to express to be against deforestation then by creating the "saviour" Treesus to defeat all the evil woodcutters :o (but whats the point of the tanks?)
wow, quite hardcore gameplay and amazing to have done this in such a short time :)
heh a little lower difficulty level and I would have progressed O.o I tried several times but often ended up getting last note wrong XD
I have no idea what the game is about, but it sure looks good :D and sounds good and plays good.
I think some feedback would have been nice, like a sound or button flashing, if I succesfully hit it in time.
Also, I couldn't find out if it has a win and loose condition at all, so it's never ending button pressing?
Themes are very clearly visible though!
suggestions: since the buttons were switching position, they would have been nice as the actual christmas decoration :)
So when I started playing this I was thinking: "ohhh so THATs what I'm doing, feeding 2 little brats of dinosaurs(?) that are spitting food at each other, great!"
it's fun though, probably even more if I wouldn't play against myself XD
hehe that christmas slide ;D
I got until level 4 with a score over 10k XD not sure how many levels it has, but it was definitely fun and it's concept is easy to understand. I accidentially even found out that you can destroy the UFOs flying through the screen :) very nice gimmick ^^ In overall I think some spacy music in the background, even something simple would have made a big difference to the overall feeling of the game, but it also does well standing on it's own, because the sounds are very fitting :)
I like the music and the graphics are nice, but it doesn't feel much of a game, since there is only 1 tile that can be clicked to pop in a tree :/
after 4 levels I couldn't get through the end level anymore, did not know if I need to do something else. The box was also quite often rotated into the wall when starting a new level and I got quite often stuck inside walls, which was annoying :/ sliding instead would have been nicer I think. Also it took me a while to realize that the red thing above my head is a healthbar, since it looked like the enemies.
thought it was quite difficult to play, the cycling with one key gets really tedious the more bunnies there are. Not to mention that I have not figured out in what rate the blue carrots are coming back, I always seemed to have to few and it increased the difficulty alot, that every fail in breeding was causing used up blue carrots to be...well...useless.
I liked the music and the whole graphics and mood though :D even the exploding overdosed bunny XD
I have to say that I wasn't so happy about some of the answers. But maybe it was meant to be provocative, didn't leave me with a good feeling though :o
like some of my previous posters said already some ambient sounds like wind howling or tavern chatter etc. would have been nice touch while reading :) Also I have to say the text was sometimes hard to read, I think mostly because of the font, the writing was good :)
oh wow, it took me a bit to figure out that i can change direction in mid air :D I must be still tired hehe.
So NOW I can say I actually like this game :D It's simple, it's randomly generated(i think) it's challenging, it has a straight forward goal and it feels fun to see the character jump-flying over the screen :D
only thing I couldn't figure out is A. why I have a giant hole in my belly or B. why there is birds/flies flying into my mouth o.o
Also, one of my favourite games as a child was "icy tower" and this game has the potential to be similar addicting, just add some sparkles and sounds to it :D
@Dianouille thanks for the feedback, it's possible I have missunderstood how the build settings are working, now I can be sure that it's only windows build and great that it's working with webplayer :D btw. the hatching is supposed to be winning condition, but I admit I ran out of time to make it feel that way ^^"
I think the most amazing feat of this game is it's story intro and voice acting :) I love the humor and the difficulty is okay, even though I would have liked to have a fast scrolling option by clicking on the small window on the top left. In overall, it has a very solid gameplay and I think it's fun to watch all those bunnies stack on top of each other and the soldiers helplessly try to get rid of them :) some things that would have made it even better is more transparency regarding that you can only activate a farmer once, unlike soldiers which can be multiplied apparently as much as you have money and farmers can't be upgraded. It's also a little confusing that soldiers only act in a certain proximity around them, so it can happen that there are tons of rabbits around, but the spot around soldier (acting range) is empty :/
I like the idea, but I don't like it that A and B are so far away from each other on my keyboard and then having to select with mouse enemies with the other hand....I have small hands...does that count as porting issue?
hehe that was funny :) I don't really understand why they are starting out on a pyramid and why both are coming from eggs XD as mammals. I liked that they were bouncing so much though :)
I did not really understand how to access the store, since pressing B or F wasn't doing anything and I wasn't seeing any kinds of candies either. (did I not get far enough?) Also, I noticed after some time the black bar at the bottom and was wondering what it is about, then I noticed it's the healthbar since it only moved when enemies came too close, but thought it's not really visible against darkish background and not really intuitive that my life is black O.o
hmm Control feels a bit too few, which resulted in a few times seeing in "slowmotion" that I'm gonna die, because I knew I couldn't change it's trajectory hard enough to survive the planet.
Sadly I was alone on the server, so can't tell how it plays with others.
I like the babyface on that amoeba I played :D wished it would have grown more teeth though XD
Some Sounds would have been nice :o
I liked the idea, even though I thought it's a little complex to have so many factors to pay attention to, but then again I was happy about the mouseovers :D
It's hell of rewarding feeling to shoot down those little guys :P and I love that hair wobble ^^
that was fun, but heck it was hard also :P not much time to pack them XD
that was enjoyable :D I really liked the music and I liked how combining the forms abilities was feeling so fluent :) I just had no idea if there will be an end to collecting villagers so I stopped at 23.
wow. that was very interesting and somewhat I felt like it's like going through life. There will be always something you think you might be lacking, but if you concentrate on it, it not only risks ever arriving to your goal (that you don't even know yet), but it also slows you down o.o also, you can't prepare for everything no matter how hard you try.
I didn't understand how to progress...first i only switched levers i found with x marked...I couldn't figure out how to use the pressure plates....then after i got all forms I just switched all the levers....which opened the cages but nothing happened...i literally got stuck, not knowing what i could do.Atmospheric the game seems to be very nice though.
I like this game :) it's very simple, but I would have preferred the turning to be done with mouse, because it's hard to aim with arrow key rotation and some of those shapes are fast O.o Also that music, after some levels it really started to annoy me :o
lol I expected a game about depression and what I got was a hilarious game with a hilarious song :P Congratulations :)
that was fun game! and I loved the music changes and the fluidness of the character :D
it's very pretty and the music is calming, could definitely see some shapes in the clouds from blowing them around :)
nice and relaxing. The controls felt a little bit late to respond, but graphics were amazing :o
I don't know what the / ket is on my keyboard :/ i loved the music and the overall game though, too bad i missed out on the extra fun...also a bit confusing that the shop menu was usable with mouse instead of keyboard :P
yep, this was friggin hard XD mostly because i couldn't climb in any way once close to a ledge without a support underneath or objects in my view when i hooked too close. Overall I like the idea :D it's a bit like indiana jones meets popular "the floor is lava" game from kids :P
hehe that was fun, only things that were a bit sad was I lost diamonds from them falling under the ground and it was a bit irritating that he fell without falling quite often, when just walking O.o the music is great though ;D was having wide smile on my face while playing it :D
there were some problems with the controls screen not appearing for me in windowed mode :o other than that I had hard time understanding what the people wanted or what i needed to do (maybe also cause i couldn't see the controls properly) but nontheless I think the idea is worth building on, it's something I haven't seen before and I think with a bit more feedback and less bugs, this could be really nice game.
I liked it, though it was very short and at first it wasn't quite clear to me how to determine which direction the character would jump. Also he walks backwards alot O.o some background fan noise or music would have been nice.
i liked the visuals, reminded me a bit of the very first tomb raider games :D but i have to say the controls were very clunky, character seemingly randomly turning in another direction and very hard to aim :O buuuut it's very impressive that you did the whole 3D part from scratch :O
hmmm...the controls felt very difficult and the customers were vanishing faster than i could bring any food or even their favourite food, not to mention that i had to restart the game about 4 times before i could actually play, because whenever i bought a table it was filling up the whole hallway, not letting me push past the microwave. The audio was cute though :) "heppa" :D
hahaha I can't count how many times I died of "lack of selfcontrol" :P it's hard to not eat when fleeing from hostile fish lol. Awesome graphics, nice mellow and at the same time humorful music, amazing facial expressions XD
I really liked the mood of this game, very relaxing and it was fun managing and watching the town grow. Although the placement of houses was a little tricky, since I could only guess where the entrance goes based on the catalog image. Those graphics are very very cute :D you got the feeling of a tiny model village really good done.
ok seriously, this is awesome! I had to play it again and again until I finally made that MMorpgrts kinda game successfully :D had so much fun ^^
wow....first I struggled hard understand how the game works (yes even after reading the manual several times) had to switch back and forth between game and manual, cause it was so much information. But then the more I figured out the game just became more and more intense XD and I think it's a cool idea that you used the roof of the window as a gameplay element that would ultimately destroy you lol. My score was btw. 210 XD. One thing I have to say though, without seeing whats happening and the screen being so small I was not understanding what was happening at first, because I couldn't see the stones crumbling at first (hard to see on that small window) and it wasn't very obvious that the window was the roof. I even tried resizing the screen cause I thought it might be cut off lol. ^
@DemyHallar, are you not able to unzip the zipfile? or is it about the files within? for unzipping: http://www.izip.com/ , sadly I can't upload the folders needed directly :/
I love the cuteness and the graphics and the sounds of this :D but the controls left me confused....how to see what mood you would need before the shoot? I just felt like randomly activating those tiny "buffs" and even when I had the right mood and kept the bar on full green, it made a photo at a crappy time :o --ohhhhhh I didn't see that the button was changing to press W at the right time :D and you get followers for struggling against bad pose aswell hehehehe.....I definitely enjoyed this game :D
