Amazing.
Awesome, good old point&click adventure! The visuals are very nice, background loop helps the mood and the length of the game is just right for the game jam. Cool little game!
@xdev Thanks! I look forward to try your game, hope you complete it!
@jiri-hysek Thank you for the kind words, that means a lot!
@milestone-games Very nice, and moody point and click adventure. Nice dialog and hint's on what needs to be done. Didn't really feel stuck at any time. The graphics and music combined creates a great mood. Very nice game
@incd021 Yay, thank you for the feedback! I'm gonna give Beans in space!! a try later tonight, the aesthetic looks awesome.
Really cosy and good looking game <3 The music and graphics are lovely. Fun dialogs as well!
Was never really a big fan of the point&click genre, but I still felt like this game was good. I liked the use of pixel graphics and the music was pretty atmospheric too.
Thanks @juliuscube-arcade, getting this great from someone who isn't even a fan of the genre means a lot :)
Really enjoyed the gameplay and atmosphere. Also really liked the graphics.
Thanks @cappinkanga!
I love point and clicks, so this was awesome! I liked the coffee/vial puzzle in particular. I thought it was very clever. The graphics and music are nice as well!
@paragonraptors THANK YOU for the nice feedback :)
loved this game! really enjoyed how smooth the gameplay felt, the music was great and awesome atmosphere. amazing job!
Great mood and music. Lovely point and click experience
Lovely audio, great dialogue, nice puzzles. Just enough stuff to try and use and potential options to keep it interesting without being a point & click nightmare!
Thanks @valid and @liam - your feedback is much appreciated!
This was super fun, it took me a moment to see the captains mug on his dashboard, so a little visual help there would have been nice, like a button to press that highlights all interactables. I can't wait for Act II! This was really impressive for a Compo Game!
@andidebob Hey, thanks for the the review and suggestion, that's definitely something I'd like to include if I continue working on this. Act II and III are already planned out, I just ran out of time and wasn't able to implement them :) I'll go check out Descendants now!
Game ended too soon! I want more!
Great characters, art is cool, soundtrack is ominous.
Thank you @xeke-death! I hope to continue it some day.
Very cool art, great music to get along with it, very well done for a 48h game, keep up the awesome work!
I really, really like this game. You don't see too many point and click adventures nowadays, and this really feels like it has a lot of depth (no pun intended) and work put into it. I did get stuck at one part after unlocking the computer, but that's not the fault of the game. I want to see a full game of this!
@gendgi Thank you for the kind words! The music was made in the last hour, I'm happy I was able to get it done on time
@mab-cat Thank you, I agree - there should be more point & click games! Too bad you got stuck. My only hit would be to talk with each person and ask what they need to be ready to descend.
hard to play, but a nice game.
Nice atmosphere! I love adventures, and your is pretty cool
Thanks for the feedback @eugenik - if you want, please feel free to share what it was that made it hard to play. Thank you!
I really likes the aesthetics, very clean and readable graphics which is difficult to do in pixel art imho. Music works really well for the atmosphere. I especially appreciated the science and exploration theme, we need more content about. But then i'm bias cause i like point and click adventures in general. keep it up!
*Chanting* Abyss! Abyss! Abyss! Also how do all that fish live in all this caffeinated water, i wonder
@enderr42 Haha, thank you! :) Yes, even fish might like coffee!
Thanks for playing the game on your stream @juliestrator and thanks for the kind feedback, very appreciated!
Blows me away you did this in such a short amount of time. Great little point n' click adventure game, loved the humour and writing. Fantastic job!
Wow! Got through everything fairly well. The only part i had trouble was searching for a vial. I think my problem was i know what a vial is and couldn't find one. It took me a while to figure out that it was simply a container that was needed. xD One that was already used!! ah hahahahaha nice mooooody feel, rooms and graphics were on par and great for an LD entry. :-)
I was not expecting an Adventure/ScummVM style game, but this is a great example of one. I like this as one chapter of a larger game and hope you continue the series. Wonderful entry, it was a delight.
Great game! got stuck on finding the "vial" for a few minutes but had no trouble with the rest. I think I will keep my eye out for when the next acts release.
Aww, it ended so quickly, I was so excited to see the story continue! I'm disappointed there isn't more, but that's a sign that you made something really engaging. Great job!
Well done not normally a fan of point and click, but keeping a simple clean and small enviorment the hunting isn't too bad. Apart from the โvialโ but even that avoided the "Rubber Chicken" trope that too many point and clicks have.
Dialogue is great and all in all a very smooth experience, the dialogue selection UI is clean, simple and works better than the other entries I've seen here.
For even better polish I'd suggest making the doorways more visible to get back into the corridor, and when going back to the corrior the camera should start centred around the door you've come back through to avoid any disorientation
Can't find the continue button to get into act 2 :slight_frown:
Fun characters and very nice art, looking forward for the next episode!
Great game, sadly to short :-). Hope you find the time to add some acts and tell us some more of the story. The game brings back memories of some good old games from Lucas Arts. Especially the graphics. The game brings well written dialogs and simple puzzles to solve. Some kind of feedback when interacting with things which currently have no bigger purpose like furniture would be nice. Or if I try to use the wrench with a pipe feedback would also be nice.
not gunna lie the coffee mug got me. but great point and click game, the fact its a COMPO game is highly impressive
It took me too long to find the vial that I just start clicking everything
I enjoyed this game a lot! I hope you can complete it soon. I loved the graphics, and there were some very interesting solutions!
Wow that was sick! I'm surprised all these art are one man's work! And there's a lot to interact with also. Maybe given a bit more time you can give comments on some interactions, such as using the wrench on the chest and says "It doesn't work" would have helped me out a lot more. Other than that this game is incredible, backed by memorable dialogs and great environment and mood. I'm enthusiastic in point-and-click game and this one goes right off!
Ah the ol point n click! At first I though the captain character was me, but that changed. The little AI twerp was fun - good tropes in there. Gotta combine everything with everything! Was sometimes hard to see where the 'exit' back was, but nothing a bit of pixelscanning didn't fix.
I give it... three-headed monkey :monkey_face::monkey::monkey_face:
This is a great entry, I like the pixel art style and the mood in general. I would have been happy to play more if it was more longer, but I guess that creating those art and music with this level of quality take time ! I was a little disappointed at first when I go in the corridor, it don't show the view in front of the room you just left, so I was a little lost, but after some times, it was no more an issue. Congratulations for this entry !
That was an epic small entry! Quick gameplay but left me wanting to play so much mooore! Really dived into the characters and story! Please keep building it into a full game!
@2bitcrook Thank you so much! I had more content planned but managed to re-scope the work halfway through, otherwise I probably wouldn't have finished :)
@commanderstitch Thank you Mr.Stitch ๐ Yeah the vial was definitely something I should've thought over a bit more, looking back I should've given the Chief Researcher a bit more lines hinting about potential substitutes :) Thanks again for the kind words!
@ezgoodnight Thank you, that makes me super happy to hear as indeed the Adventure games of the 90s were the inspiration :)
@shadowdev Thanks for the nice feedback, I hope to be able to revisit this game in the future :)
@dxk2294 Much appreciated, and I agree! I wish there was a whole week of Ludum Dare jamming so I could finish act 2 and 3 :) Thanks for the kind words!
@darkshadow Thanks for taking the time to write such a length review! Your feedback is spot on, these issues are things I would've wanted to fix, but sadly I ran out of time. Next time though! And yes - gotta have a Rubber Chicken with Pulley In the Middle, never know when you need it! :D
@freamdev Yeah, sadly only act 1 was implemented, I ran out of time - but both act 2 and 3 are fully mapped out so if there's a lot of interest I might finish them between now and the next LD jam :)
@todward Thank you and I agree! I have an idea of the end-to-end plot and overall hurdles the player would have to overcome. Makes me super happy to hear you're reminded of the old great Lucas Arts games :) Yes, I really wanted to implement responses to every single object, but unfortunately I ran out of time. In my next adventure game I won't miss a single item though! :)
@steelax Thanks, that's really nice to hear :) Yeah next time around I'll keep the item hunting less random :)
@john Hah, yeah that vial replacement was a bit harder to find than it should've been. Thanks for the great feedback :)
@fractal-flower-girl Thank you, that's great to hear!
@valeth2124 Much appreciated! I totally agree that the game would have benefited from some more reactions for when things don't work. I built a system that allows for those type of overrides, I just wasn't able to get it done :)
@joror Thanks for the kind feedback! And you are spot on about the "exit" issue. In my placeholder graphics I had a diagonal orange/black line that could've hinted at the exit, but I wasn't able to redraw it in the final background graphics. Haha, I great MI reference :D
@sebbernery Thx! I wish I had been been able to complete more of the content I had planned. Yes, the camera position was something I really wanted to fix (I think it would have just been 5 lines of code or something) but sadly I ran out of time.
@mad Thanks for the epic feedback and encouragement, that's amazing to hear! :)
Can't wait for the next acts if you decide to finish the game.
Great Game I was stuck some time for finding a vial but i finally got it. I will definitely look out for a part 2 if you want to make one!
A great start to the adventure. I'd love to play the whole story at some point in the future. These old school point-and-click adventures are one of my favourite LD entry types. Here's the VOD: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1004005111
Nice graphics, and very atmospheric music. It's a simple experience, but I did feel that I wanted to know what happens next. It's reminiscent of the old point and click games of course, which I do have nostalgia for. My only critique is that it is always nice if clicking on things causes some sound and animation, to make the world feel more active and create a more visceral experience for the player. Overall, well made.
Loved it! Very unique, enjoyed the art, overall great game. Would of liked it if the font was pixel art too, just would of been more fitting.
Awesome Point and Click, really enjoyed playing this. So relaxing among all the skill and time based games. ^^
But you know, a "real" point and click needs those insanely hard, non logical puzzles where one has to buy a cat to cause a car crash, so you can take the wheel and make a costume to pass the guards. xD
Just kidding, keep it like this ^^
Wow I love this game
Yay, another teaser adventure! As always, with pleasantly colored pixels and calm music. I could just dive into this world and spend the whole day in it, but, sadly, it doesn't last longer than it is. Also, I've spotted at least two Pixel Prophecy-related easter eggs. :) How many of them have yet to be found?
I've got a playthrough for you, if you're interested:
https://youtu.be/6rCD-1_pym8
Cool! When's part two coming out?
Great to see more point and clicks around :) I rather enjoy the theme, and feel right at home in a setting where most things revolve around coffee and who is taking out the dishes (Yes, I'm Swedish).
Anyway, very nice entry! Atmosphere is nice and the graphics are clear and good-looking. Only thing really missing is sound effects I guess :P Hope you continue to expand this as implied at the end of the game.
I'm just gonna hit you with a "dude, NICE!"
Hey, this is awesome! It's very short, but well thought out and polished. Lots of nice writing and world building, and the puzzles were pretty solid too! I was especially impressed by all of the "tooltip" descriptions of things in the world, I've not seen that level of detail in point'n'clicks for LD before, and it really added a surprising amount of interest to the environments. Made the images feel less static and more alive. Great atmosphere with the minimal moody music, and I definitely ended it wanting to see what was in act 2. Great entry!
Loved the pixel art, the music also fits. In my opinion the characters look a little static, but maybe that was the goal. I had some trouble solving the puzzle with the scientist and the vial, as i thought i had to click on the captain and no the mug. Nice experience!.
Fun little game, got stuck on the researcher. Didn't realize than anything could be used XD. Atmosphere was nice, kinda wish there was more
It was short but you can feel the amount of work and love that's put into it. I must say I was surprised this one actually contains some really good (textual) jokes!
Of course I should also say that the graphics looks really well made.
Short and sweet.
Short, but interesting point and click. Too bad it ended so quickly, because I was really immersed in the story. I liked it, there was a nice polishing and good storybuilding.
Very nice! The music works very well, and the graphics are great. I enjoyed the puzzles, although I did make the mistake of watching it being played first, so I did know the solutions.
I did notice a few typos here and there. I know how running out of time for a final proof-reading pass goes :)
I Hate it......
Why?
Just because you put in a Cliffhanger.... ;)
OK; Seriously. I really appreciated and loved the game. I still like your Graphic Style and the idea and story is really nice. I really want to play "The Abyss"
Well Done, Great Job
Interesting game but a bit short,
It took me a while before I noticed the coffee mug, maybe add a bit of a glow to objects you can interact with besides just the name popping up, although its not necessary it would help.
a few small minigames besides fetch quests like help fixing the pipes by arranging them the right way would have also made it more fun.
WOW. I don't generally like point and click games but the art style grabbed me. So I played and loved it!
Some finer points that would really make the game sing! - Sound FX and visual FX for the items when you pick them up or mouse pick them up (I didn't notice I was getting items at first) - When the doorway exit was the middle bottom of the room i always forgot that and I thought I got stuck in some rooms until i remembered. I think make some sort of dark gradient in the middle of the room would have helped to signify a door to get out is in the middle bottom. - The dialogue choices UI needed a background element so that it doesn't conflict/blend into the environment art - It would have been nice to have a character that walks around rather then just using the mouse - but I get it - game jams and scope
Good work - I wish you the best of luck with any future changes and if you participate in the next game jam!
Very cool little game! Hope to see a part 2! The music fit the (soon to be I assume) tense atmosphere and oh, the interactables. A hint to so many things that can go wrong... Great job! I really liked the graphics!
Thanks for submitting your game to my stream! I played it last weekend. You can watch me play it here (I start yours at 0:52:10):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eC7ohNz5jGk
Super nice graphics and ambience! I want to see part 2 already!! great job!!
@oldengamer Thanks for playing!
@dergamer Thank you! If it happens I'll certainly post about it here :)
@jake-marks Thanks for the kind feedback, and thanks for capturing the vod!
@microchasm Thanks! I really agree about sound effects! I had a few recorded but ran out of time.
@thatmanrobin Thanks for the kind feedback, and I'll certainly revisit the font for the future!
@leorid Haha, thank you - yeah, I forgot to add tricky timing puzzles. :)
@halogen Thank you! :)
@yngvarr Thanks for playing! Haha, and great job catching the references :)
@wizard-sino Thanks! Hopefully one day...
@fpeg Heh, great to hear the Swedish nuances were appreciated. Thanks!
@razorwolf I'm just gonna hit back with aw, thanks! :)
@justinmullin Thanks for the detailed review. I originally planned to make all objects also have an interaction, but sadly ran out of time. Appreciate the kind words!
@bajtix Yes, I ideally wanted to animate the characters a bit more, especially a talking animation for the "avatar". Thanks for playing and reviewing!
@666savior Thanks, yeah it wasn't the most intuitive puzzle :) I might revisit the story one day! Thanks!
@g12345 Thanks for the very nice feedback!
@thomasward Thank you! Hope to be able to return to part 2 one day.
@frank-gevaerts Thanks fgeva! :) Yeah I was able to fix a last minute typo on the intro screen with a few minutes to spare. Appreciate the kind feedback!
@deathstorm Thank you so much, I promise you that if LD49 comes around and I haven't made any progress I'll whisper the story of Act 2 & 3 on Discord ;)
@west Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated! I definitely agree that it could be more clear what objects were interactive. And yes, those types of interactive puzzles are interesting. I had planned for a few of them for Act 2, but unfortunately ran out of time. Thanks for playing!
@rocktavious Thanks a lot for the very detailed review! All your suggestions are spot on, being relatively new to Unity I struggled a bit with with some of the user interface elements. Definitely agree that sound and visual effects would make the game more user friendly. And yes, the rooms without a door was a bit of a mishap. I originally planned some type of marking in the floor to signify an exit, but ended up not coming up with a good way to solve for that. My next adventure game will definitely have a walking character. :) Again, thanks for playing!
@ladymistleaf Thanks so much for the kind feedback! :)
@birdwards Great, thank you for playing it!
@laurari Thanks so much, that's really great to hear! I hope to revisit part 2 in a not too distant future :)
Nooo I was so sad that it ended! There is so much potential for an interesting adventure here, good luck with this project if you hope to expand it!
Hey @milestone-games! Another first episode of an adventure game that I want to see in full one day! You already know it but still, here's my time with it on my stream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2X3tRskS-U
Well done. I really like point and click adventures. Waiting for act 2.
@ddrkirbyisq Thank you! Hope to continue it one day!
@philstrahl Yay, thanks for sharing the vod! And thanks for the great feedback :)
@hypp Thanks for the kind words!
