LD46 — Keep it alive

My Relationship with a Cube by Stending 2020-05-10T16:47:29Z

I love the concept of combining rhythmic and story-driven categories, still it comes off a bit below my expectation, I believe you can do even better story-wise and improve on the particles of the rhythm games also.

Twitch Feeds by StaNov 2020-05-10T16:55:37Z

Wow this is perfectly done, I just wish people would actually play at the same time. And man I love the music, your daughter is an aspiring artist also. Great job!

EGG by inkedsplat 2020-05-10T16:38:50Z

Fun game and humorous concept, yet fitting in almost every aspects. Hope you may develop this potential game fully in the future.

Mayday by awerar 2020-05-04T17:23:34Z

Excellent graphics, especially the particles <3 Still I got a bit of problem with the control, I'd prefer a bit of keyboard maneuvering over mouse-only.

Eater of Worlds by Havok06 2020-04-23T07:35:30Z

Loved the pathfinding you did there, albeit the game was a bit confusing at first because I didn't know you gather energy by controlling the small platform. I found it to be quite fun and polished, and it is hard also, I never went past wave 2 :((

Pas by Lukuluk 2020-05-10T16:39:31Z

The most unique graphics I've ever seen !

Loco Locomotive by freso 2020-04-23T07:38:14Z

It was fun but a bit frustrating, I kept on being eaten by the bear =) I wish there'd been more animation and ways to spawn more workers though... This game reminds me of old-time tycoon games, good job!

Protect The Torch! by Marin0104 2020-05-10T18:02:39Z

I tested a lot of games that have this protect-the-torch, campfire kind of category, but this one shines out more to me because of two things: the graphics and sounds are appropriately polished, and on top of that the puzzle is unique to each level. But the disadvantage here is the control. It is a bit clunky, especially when I just started playing and insta-kill happens almost every second XD.

Castle Isolation by Diccuric_Sigeon 2020-05-10T16:57:30Z

Dazzling pixel art, I had fun surviving only 17 days...

Living Woods by Tunahead 2020-05-08T16:23:29Z

I couldn't leave a feedback earlier due to some connection problems. Overall the game is quite polished, I found no bugs whatsoever, probably the thing that puts me off the most was how difficult it turned out to be xD But not an annoying one, I believe a little balancing will work out. One other thing is about the organization, from a design perspective, I suggest you make the fire stand out more from other entities in the scene, that way the player can notice with ease when it will run out. Good job, I will try again and beat the game if possible xDD

LD46_Charger by Talia 2020-04-21T09:37:58Z

Very unique game, albeit a bit frustrating at first because the bulbs were all over the place :(( Nonetheless, the art and sound are gorgerous !

FEED HOLE by Aj Jones 2020-04-23T03:49:59Z

Blazingly good graphics, but the web build is so laggy on my computer >.< I think you can optimize it a little bit on the particle effects side. And omg the lobster is cute :o.

Eat it by Oune 2020-04-23T07:31:21Z

Classical, but works really well. But the concept was hard to grasp at first, I ended up having my plant eat everything ^^ By the way, you should consider changing to pixel font bases to make it consistent with ingame art.

Reef Rush by Sam Dower 2020-05-10T17:06:34Z

Sharks, underwater.. oh god I think I had hydrophobia... Anyway, the game sets up perfect atmosphere and gameplay, the difficulty was just right, good job!

Feed The Beast by leorid 2020-05-07T13:05:40Z

I still have a bit of performance issues, but still it is quite great! A seriously developed 3D game, although I find it a bit difficult to get to the health boxes, got killed several times and thus I got a bit less interested. Other than that, I have no problem with the sound and physics. Good job!

Defend the Loot! by ArtemFTW 2020-05-12T06:42:28Z

Well-tailored and rounded out game. It's impressive that you made the game engine from scratch also! Impressive sprites and also balanced gameplay. I encountered a bug (or not) where enemies randomly spawn blocks after they drop dead, but maybe that is part of the mechanics? Anyway, congratulations on your Compo.

Keep What Alive by Valeth2124 2020-04-23T04:47:14Z

Thanks for all of your feedbacks! @merlinnsound His pattern is quite easy to guess, but there are many other endings for you to explore :D @ricefarmerlenin Woah I thought we fixed the dialogue bug :o we will double check to make sure players get the story @aj-jones Thank you very much! Honestly thought there would be a lot more bugs tho... But your game is quite epic! Good to hear your thoughts on mine. @edz123 The cybertruck was a humorous feature, but in the end we decided to keep it anyway ^_^ @bitpokit The coughing was intentionally made subtle so player will catch the virus unexpectedly :DD @christopher-wong Indeed you are right, our guidance wasn't clear enough, but still you made it to the neighbor's house :)) There is a way to kill him tho... @vawer The mask won't prevent you from being infected, it only lowers your vulnerability zone, and we will take note of that bug during day 3 also :o . Good to hear your constructive feedback, hope you had fun exploring our games ^_^ @morandigame The colleague won't show up, initially we would've elaborated another ending if you chose to stay with her, but time wasn't sufficient you only make the choice and we skip you to day 4 :))

Keep What Alive by Valeth2124 2020-04-26T06:08:53Z

Thanks for all of your feedbacks! We've actually realized our main problem was the fact that we lack clear instructions and direction for new players, hence leading to quite a bit of confusion of what to do inside the game itself! We've updated the black dialogue screens to give you a bit more details and advice, as well as multiple possibilities you can explore, but from then on, we want you to know that however you play is okay in our game, we emphasize both gameplay and story-wise elements. Again, all of the comments have made significant contribution to our game. We hope you enjoyed it well, know that I'll also playtest your games and enjoy them likewise ^_^

Keep What Alive by Valeth2124 2020-04-26T06:16:00Z

@havok06 @rextgun @despdair @doritolord @giulia @amazura @jcourt @dubdisk @svenerik @conor-galvin @vladlawrence @darksylvok1 @oune @lakrits My gratitude to you all !!!

Petra by vDovah 2020-05-10T03:34:33Z

Aside from some performance issues, I really love your puzzle-design approach. Full 5/5 for graphics.

This is Fine by D5R 2020-04-23T03:35:29Z

Brilliant puzzle design :) The number of levels is enormous! I'd love to see more of this doggo!

The Night Of The BEAST by Fer9001 2020-05-04T17:03:43Z

Wow, pretty scary tbh. The art and sound were simply giving out an eerie feelings without me doing much, like those old DOS arcades. Nice job over there! The goal of the game was not very clear to me at the start, I ended up getting killed several times. This is a good mix of horror and stealth, with profound emphasis on atmosphere. Seriously, this game has many potential, hope you have do a follow up !!!

Cthulhu: The Cult Must Not Die by LaserPanzerWal 2020-05-10T17:56:30Z

I spent a lot of time on this game, albeit a bit repetitive and I got crashed twice. Still the graphics give out that Planescape:Torment or Diablo vibe, which fascinates me wholly. I suggest a bit of improvement on the fighting system, it's actually balanced already I think, just need a bit more work on flexibility so it does not become so repetitive later on.

Fire Is Life by Lakshya Maurya 2020-05-12T08:35:20Z

This is actually not bad. You made an interesting mechanic indeed.

Keep Them Alive by Adfre12yu 2020-05-10T16:59:29Z

For some reasons I can't run it at all in WebGL so I had to download. Aside from that, this game provides me a chance to play with my buddy who worked with me in our game ^^

Stellar Ride by agentrsdg 2020-05-12T06:34:22Z

Honestly I though it was really difficult to make space-themed game shine true to their title, but yours was very well done, gave me quite the outer-world mood right there. I love this idea very much, hope you keep going, the particle system was already cool so full points for that, however I hope you could add a warning system for approaching black holes or so, the less confusion the better I guess ^^

Keep Hope Alive by Vawer 2020-04-23T03:54:51Z

The sound effects annoyed me a little bit (the footstep and the block where you have to stay and press E). Unfortunately "hope" runs out pretty quick so I don't know what happened later on in the game :((. Overall it fits the theme quite perfectly, giving out a lost-in-the-dungeon vibes which I find to be pleasantly enjoyable!

1922: The Unfortunate Olympian by Mark Keeble 2020-05-10T10:20:46Z

Gives off Terraria vibes right there, a solid platformer and excellent pixel lighting/shading. Full 5/5 in tthe graphics and fun categories ^^.

Earth 2.0 by AryanJumani 2020-05-08T14:14:40Z

I love the particles and sound effects. Gameplay was solid as well, but getting bumped into repeatedly by asteroids quite annoyed me. Maybe a little warning system would've worked better in the player's favor?

Planets wars by raguel 2020-05-04T16:07:28Z

Short and sweet game, yet incredibly polished. I love the battleship and defend-the-earth theme you've got there. Also the best soundtrack I have ever heard after 100 games I've tried out ^^. Just one thing, it was not that difficult for me (since I'm quite familiar with shoot'em'up games) and I quickly find myself navigating senselessly just to find an enemy. I was a bit confused if I can obtain the enemy's drops and upgrade my own weapon, however they were falling way to fast xD. Anyway, good work!

Vestige by BitPokit 2020-04-23T03:42:07Z

Aesthetic writing. The way you hit those cubes somehow goes into rhythm with the music also. Well polished game overall. I had a bit trouble figuring out that you can move around the platform to defend yourself at first though :D

Baby Simulator by EdZ123 2020-04-23T03:44:58Z

Been testing various games and this one gave me a good laugh! Nice music but the baby's repeated cry is a bit annoying though :))

The Last Tree by RiceFarmerLenin 2020-04-23T02:47:10Z

Nice concept ^^ I think a bit more particles to show the current ammos, health of the trees may help with the player experience!

Keep It Charged by LaZZyDev72 2020-05-08T12:43:09Z

Nice puzzle game with neat mechanics, it is indeed a bit easy for me but still retains humor through those memes. I would like to see more puzzle designs from you!

One Alive At A Time by MorandiGame 2020-04-23T03:57:43Z

The control is a bit messy for me, but using the objects to represent "alive" is quite clever ^^ A lot of ways to play and save them, but a bit more instructions beforehand would have made things clearer too. Good job!

Floccy Land by MikyDev 2020-05-08T13:52:18Z

A few breaking bugs aside, you did a great job! Quite a formal platformer experience if I might say. A few things you may learn from this: - Using widespread assets is a big disadvantage, you should change them in a more unique way, if not drastically distinct from the original. - Animating in 2D game is utmost important, I think you may need to animate the character more flexibly and dynamically for more enjoyment. - Most bugs concern collisions, consider placing colliders more accurately or attempt to throw exceptions.

Keep `em alive! by SimanSimon 2020-04-22T16:55:15Z

I have a bit problems maneuvering the vehicles, but I found the complexity add a cool depth to the game ^^

RuneBeat by nyxkn 2020-05-10T16:43:16Z

Sweet rhythm games, of course at some point I was confused at my own timing, when I thought I hit perfectly, it actually misses. Overall the difficulty was just right, good job!

Save the torch! by eduardogacn 2020-05-12T06:52:44Z

The graphics were excellent. A bit of Castlevania vibe. A well-balanced platform game with great level designs. Though I was a bit confused at first about what to do next after receiving the torch, so I slided recklessly into the enemy and dropped dead xD. The collision and jumping don't feel satisfactory enough for me, you should not make the player jump too high compared to your character sprite. The music was great but got repetitive after some time (couldn't help though xD). That's all, near-perfect 9/10 for you ^^

Catch The Mouse keep it alive by GameOverMexico 2020-05-04T15:57:21Z

The most polished intro I have ever seen :o Other than that, the game was quite difficult, but fast-paced and fun for me also. I died after the 5th or 6th stage xD Cheers to that level design. For me the only point I felt you can improve on is the particle effects (the 'dead' animation is a bit dull). Other than that, great soundtrack, great gameplay and humor <3

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Monkey Quest by paulloz 2021-04-28T18:53:25Z

I have nothing to complain about this game, it reminds me of Legend of Zelda game on NES and GBA, from the sound and art, gave me qutie a bit of nolstalgia also. Impressive how much you did in this jam entry. I just think it will be a bit more fun if you can fight the reptiles with your pickaxe (mine didn't do a dent on them xD)

Deep Voice by mdotedot 2021-04-28T18:55:56Z

This is an incredible exercise to clear my sore throat haha xD although I lose again and again, the concept was magnificent from the get-go ("deep" voice was brilliant idea!)

Oiligarch by dxk2294 2021-04-27T07:23:01Z

I don't have much experience play tycoon games, so my judgement may be biased. But it is incredibly innovative. I wish for more guidance at the start (bit by bit information), but the satisfaction when my money grows after digging deeper makes up for that  Good job!

Deep down the asteroid by FrauKauz 2021-04-27T06:53:30Z

A simple game but neat design. You can adjust pacing a bit more by increasing the digging speed, and add a health bar or something so that the player doesn't get teleported back to the start.

The Deep by TheMoonrise 2021-04-27T07:06:47Z

This game makes me feel like I'm a marine in an underwater mission xD Incredibly fits the theme and the execution is carried out well enough. One of the most promising game in the jam so far.

Deeper Into The Mind by michaelyount 2021-04-28T12:09:36Z

I'm always there for a fun bullet hell game, and you did a great job! The pattern could be a bit more diverse at first tho, I found it getting easier and easier as I play. In addition, getting hit by a bullet don't really "feel like it", I suggest a bit more work on sound effect and animation, and a health indicator to show an impact.

The Icarus by PowerAnze 2021-04-28T15:22:22Z

The game is quite innovative, I like the way you placed no boundaries at all, until I moved randomly and hit the wall (that scared me a little bit but there's no penalty for that right?). At first the bumping was fine and I got to the waypoint soon enough, then I got used to the controller and moved to further depth. I was bugged out by the up-down controller, there was a lack of motion indicating that I was moving forward or backward. Still I really liked the sound and art design, I just think a bit more ease in navigation is necessary.

The Icarus by PowerAnze 2021-04-28T15:52:57Z

@poweranze boundaries as in physical wall, and the art was a bit abstract so at first I didn't think they were supposedly walls until I hit them xD

Into Debt by darqweful 2021-04-27T07:02:15Z

Well done for a UI-focused game, I wish the manual can be a bit more clear, I was literally clicking randomly because I have no idea what to do XD

The Bothnia Trench by Milestone Games 2021-04-28T18:46:52Z

Wow that was sick! I'm surprised all these art are one man's work! And there's a lot to interact with also. Maybe given a bit more time you can give comments on some interactions, such as using the wrench on the chest and says "It doesn't work" would have helped me out a lot more. Other than that this game is incredible, backed by memorable dialogs and great environment and mood. I'm enthusiastic in point-and-click game and this one goes right off!

The Final Frontier by BinaryPrinciple 2021-04-28T17:45:12Z

What a blast! I played until I hit the rock bottom. Good job, the game was very clear and easy to play, albeit after a while the level grew a bit competitive, but also more challening nonetheless. I hope to see more obstacles and also the full gameplay you are planning! The artwork didn't seem to good, I'd rather cast them on a 2D screen instead of looking at a 3D board. You can also use a bit of BGM that slowly upbeats as the player dive deeper and deeper. Nevertheless, within 48h this is quite a feat!

Fight Your Fears by SkelleRoznik 2021-04-27T07:30:09Z

Simple, yet gloomy and relaxing game. I eventually made it to the end. The jumping control was beast, feels so satisfying for me to go past level by level (there are surprisingly whole lots of them too! And not too easy, but not too frustrating). Overall, I felt like this game deserves any praise possible. Temp.png

The Mine to Sentience by spyturtle 2021-04-28T18:11:00Z

The bot was hard to control, I immediate slip after I fall so I didn't get . But the money and upgrade system were brilliant, so many choices to choose from (and yeah solved my control with that). Though that was excellent job ob your first jam!

Khazads by vsi- 2021-04-28T18:22:57Z

The gameplay was a bit confusing, I didn't know how to go down at the ladder (well solved that). After that I got to the maze and things get much more diffcult since I couldn't see well and each time I got hit by an arrow. Nevertheless that dwarven tongue was hillarious xD and the sound makes the atmosphere more immersive. You guys did a lot of mechanics right there!

Khazads by vsi- 2021-04-28T18:28:21Z

Another thing is that the boss stopped after a while and I cannot damage him, then a barrage of monsters shot their arrows at me, perhaps a bit of invisibility time would help and of course, make the archers damagable xD

Mine The Beat by GamesBySaul 2021-04-28T16:38:54Z

Awesome concept, an ingenious mix between dungeon crawler and rhythm game! Good job man, I'd want to see you expand the rhythm bar tho, it gets easy to follow and repetitive after a while, maybe vary the distance between each bar as the level progresses would be quite fun xD Still I'm surprised by the amount of the content you got there, from the character creator to the selling options of the ores you have mined. A solid jam entry overall.

Deep Fall by fire_soldier888 2021-04-28T17:50:21Z

The game was a bit typical, but its pacing and gameplay are solid nonetheless. I wish there could've been more content such as obstacles, falling animation. And of course, this game has potential to be endless, you just need more falling space xD

Spy Supply by Martta 2021-04-28T18:07:41Z

"A poison pill helped unblocked the ship and secure million dollar" Man that was hillarious xD . One of the most entertaining jam entry I've played so far, you literally have so many choices and to pick the one that fits the mission was not the way most player would do, since after a while we are left with trivial items xD The art and animation was over the top, the gameplay was immersive (felt like I became a spy corporation owner), but overall I don't see where it fits the theme, or at least not that tightly. Thanks for such an interesting game concept

HELL deep is your love? by Villanelle 2021-04-28T21:34:26Z

The game sure is a fun typical 2D platformer, the camera was quite a hindrance tho. The challenge was not the level, but when the camera moves down and you jump up, that's instant kill xD I still think a 2d camera follow would've been better

TamanDua by Funambulist Cat 2021-04-28T16:24:29Z

Nice short game, but I have problem with the fonts (a bit hard to read), the bouncing mechanics was too fast for me to control at first, but I eventually get a hold of it. I wish you could have extended the level  Overall it fits the art and the mood were beautiful, but maybe you can use a vertical perspective to fit the theme "deeper" more, the tongue mechanics was promising but has few opportunities to shine.

SUBERDEEP by sendnoose 2021-04-27T08:06:42Z

Thanks for all of your feedbacks, I have reduced the length of each level and also reduced the amount of fish spawned to curb repetitiveness!

SUBERDEEP by sendnoose 2021-04-27T09:03:49Z

@shadow30 @remusnomos @saerki @beats @valid @darqweful Thank you all, we actually designed the torpedo to be indestructible, meaning once you shoot it will clear the whole path where you are facing. If you took aim carefully and made sure it hit multiple enemies, then you will be in safe place. Due to the shooting mechanism we actually made the level a bit more difficult.
