funny game, i like it O_o
I do not see any game link to play :(
No downloads and links...
I don't se any way I can play this :/
it's sad
@LocustJin @Fozzy @Wallkysek @Kanda It seems I accidentally clicked on "publish" even though our game is not completed yet. I'm trying to figure out how to fix this, sorry!
@fraukauz you still have 3 hours, you can do it! Tag me once you publish it please
good luck !
@LocustJin @Fozzy @Wallkysek @Kanda We're finished!!1 Thanks for your patience!
A simple game but neat design. You can adjust pacing a bit more by increasing the digging speed, and add a health bar or something so that the player doesn't get teleported back to the start.
Anyone up for some bragging?
DiggingGame_AJXyMvpNUh.png
I must say I'm impressed by the design. At first I was a bit annoyed about the digging speed and being unable to move around while falling (since it felt a bit clunky), but after a pair of rounds, I started to "get it".
Rather than a 2D platformer, I started seeing this as a 2D puzzle thriller, where I couldn't jump around obstacles and clearing my path also helped the enemies find me. Taking quick decisions about the best route for the most points started pumping me up. I certainly can see the potential in something like this having multiple levels and new mechanics. Is there anything you wanted to implement for this that you couldn't because of time restraints? I think it'd be fascinating insight!
Anyhow, that's my two cents on this. Good game with good scope and size for what it is. Can't wait to see if people start optimizing the time and route to get even better highscores! :whale:
Thanks for your feedback @Moski!! We are very flattered that you liked the game and gained such a high score (during testing, we performed way worse). As @Valeth2124 already noticed, the digging speed is slow and feels annoying, but that was our intention: To weigh up whether it is better to dig (slowly but targeted) or to take a detour.
Thanks for posting your high score!
Well, we had the idea to add a small storyline and at least a win screen or animation when reaching the portal. And maybe some ladders (as in the board game Ladders and Snakes) could be interesting, what do you think?
Good design. I love the pixel work, nice and simple. Game play is solid and enjoyable. Thank you so much for your work.
looks really great ! I love the laser animation. Needing to time it to avoid ennemies is a good mechanic. Ennemies well animated too, and soothing to collect the plants. Quite accomplished !
691 point! :D It's simple but really fun. At the start it felt pretty clunky and I thought I got bugged inside the wall, but after I undertsood what's going on it became a fast decision action game. I can see myself playing it on my phone if you make it possible and add more levels.
Turning the Doki Doki Panic/Super Mario Bros 2 digging into an arcade-style decision-making game is a very cute idea. The controls could use some tuning---a little punchier, a tiny bit faster---and then add more and longer levels to match, and you'd have something really special on your hands here. But within the confines of a game jam, this is a great submission.
@tubular To be honest - we wanted to skip any experiments (take a look at Cashier Simulator, it's painful) and try a more established game mechanic; but without the jumping, the game turns into a kind of puzzle. We were not aware of this at the beginning, but it turns out pretty nice. Thanks for your feedback!
@tubular The Super Mario Bros. 2 digging was indeed an inspiration for this game :D
I think it would have felt better if it was tile based (moving on a grid). Falling from the blocks when you're half way across it felt off for me.
It's simple and effective, nice work! First attempt I scored 420pts and was tempted to call it at that ;) wasn't entirely sure when I would fall or not at first, but that became clear eventually. I particularly like the ennemy sprites!
@lelek-hunor-kadosa Thanks for playing, I guess this could work as a mobile game, but for sure we will need to add some more levels after LD is over.
@thebmxeur @pat-cleaver thanks a lot for your feedback, I agree that the falling is a bit off. If we do a new version of this after LD, we will need to improve that.
It's a pretty neat game, short and simple. All I would really add would maybe be another level or 2, or maybe a difficulty modifier. I liked the idea of it and the graphics fit the game very nicely.
Very good entry, it was a pleasure to dig and thinking where to do it to collect the maximum of points. Nice concept, good job.
Thanks for your feedback @strailks, this level was put together on last minute :D and I'm surprised that it somehow works.
Fun simple game! I especially like the animations of the character and the mobs. The mobs falling into the pits you've made make it more challenging.
Btw, you started late on friday evening? You mean saturday? Or else it wouldn't be late, haha
@the_martijn Yes, Saturday. About 8 hours of work in total :D
The character animations were cool. I liked the squid things. Navigating was a bit annoying because you would fall off a block when your body was halfway off. Obviously it could do with some sound. But for what it is, it is pretty cool.
@rusty-bailey Tweaking the collision boxes is on our to do list, yes :) thanks for your feedback!
nice game, sadly no audio. But taking into account that it took you 8 hours (commented above), good job.
The graphics are actually pretty cool. And the mechanics are nice too, good job
At first, I wasn't sure I'd like the apparent simplicity of the game, but it is well executed and fun to play. I think the fact the aliens fall down your holes (and follow you) make the game somewhat more exciting. There were also times when I missed some plants by accident and it made me want to restart the level to get them all. Nice one
Bad hitboxes but fun mechanics. While I felt like the spiders are quite unpredictable, they never hurt the experience and only ever killed me when I fell onto them. The hitbox of the spikes specifially was too big in my opinion, but maybe that was part of the leveldesign? I wasn't able to pick all the plants but as they count as score, I think you may not have to get all of them.
Not going up perfectly fit the theme and the animations are also really cute. ^^
@Xparker Thank you for the feedback! Yes, we decided from the beginning not to make any music or sound effects because we could't invest much time for this game. We thought it was better to have no music and sound effects then bad ones... Would you do it the same way?
@WormholeGames Thanks :D we're flattered!
@Lintfordpickle We are glad that the game encouraged you to play several times!
@leorid Thanks for your feedback, yes, hitboxes are an issue that we want to address!
I quite liked it! If critique is your style: Personally I think the UI shoul not have been all lowercase, but that's my preference Would've loved more levels, since it was actually really fun!
Good job guys!
@fraukauz Not too sure. I guess you could have gone for the "ridiculously bad" audio track.
For example like the Soundtrack in Candice DeBébé (see link at bottom as it doesnt want to be inline). But between very bad (not funny ones) and none, I guess none is better.

I love the digging animation! It looks so...gooey. The way the aliens move is really nice; the game has a great feel.
Neat game! I really love the "digging" animation, watching the character pour acid(?) on tiles is a unique and cool way to convey that! My biggest critique is the lack of sound effects, which you've listed in your post-jam update backlog. I know you all started late, but even simple sounds you can record with your computer microphone can add a lot of character and valuable feedback for the player. Good work!
Decent little game! It could definitely use some sound to improve the atmosphere. I found a bug where I finished the game and then a spider thing killed me after the win condition.
After treating the asteroid with too many acid and finding green rectangle
Pros:
- simple concept - acid drilling ftw - funky graphics
Cons:
- Wish there was ANY sound! - kinda unpredictable enemy behaviour - A bit too short?? - Can still die after winning
Decent job nontheless. Congrats!
[Thanks for submitting your game to the stream!](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1007626304?t=00h36m26s)
This was a fun one to mess around with and try for the high score. Would be nice if you could add some post-jam audio to make the game pop a bit more, but everything else from the art to the concept to the programming was solid. Nice job!
We had a blast playing this! Simple controls and gameplay were perfect for us. :) The main character had some really cute animations and it was lots of fun replaying to try and beat our high scores. Thanks!
Fun entry, great game overall! :v: :alien: :gun:
After playing through, some constructive feedback if you like:
Wonderful things: - BEAUTIFUL pixel art and animations with great colors - Simple, yet fun gameplay loop - Great strategy between choosing simply falling down vs. digging - Just about right difficulty
Things to improve on: - Add some variety in enemies / power-ups (I know it's hard in a game jam timeframe) - I really missed sounds and music :( - Maybe more, or random-generated levels?
Anyways it's great fun to play! :v:
@DWink Yes, gooey was the look and feel I was going for :D glad you like it!
@Dan McAlister @MikoziQ Sound effects and background music are definitely something we want to include in the next LD, even if they are ridiculous pew pew noises :D
@nsadie @MikoziQ Thank you for reporting this bug, we fixed it and we'll upload a fixed post jam version of the game later this day!
@ColeSlaughter We had a blast watching you guys play our game, thank you for your feedback!
@panurge Thanks :D
@guladam We're flattered :D. Yes, it's kind of a MVP of a game and more levels, more types of enemies were a stretch goal that we couldn't archieve. We opted out background music and sound effects from the beginning, but since a lot of you critized the lack of any sound, we will give it a try next LD!
I like the pixel art graphics - simple but nice to look at.
Being unable to jump made the decision-making and planning ahead much more interesting and challenging. However, it sometimes meant there was no way to get all the goo. Maybe some sort of limited number of short jumps (like only 1-3 or so) would be interesting?
The digging animation felt a little bit slow to me. I think the pace of the game could be picked up a bit.
Overall this was a short and sweet game. Good work.
Had a lot of fun. It had a simple yet challenging arcade-y mechanic. Kind of felt like playing Burger Time to me. - A
I really liked it - gave me the great nostalgic feeling, likes games in Windows' Microsoft Entertainment Packs from the 90s. The monsters were tricky to avoid! -M
