LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Antlerman by Jiri_One 2018-12-05T21:07:24Z

I enjoyed that. There are a lot of smaller issues but the game itself controlled good and the base core is really solid. Most of the hits I got were sadly from enemys spawning direcly next to. Also the altar mostly spawned on the very edge of the map. Overall searching for the altar is not enjoable in itself. An indicator would be great. If you plan on working more on this game I would wish for more escalation in ability strengt and variety. Right now the difficulty felt static. I think the enemys got a little bit more health with each stage, but that is not enough to keep it interesting.

Hostage Situation by MaxencePlou 2018-12-18T11:50:54Z

Heya, I liked your game and think it is really fun, but I think the theme is really weak. There doesnt seem to be any difference between the weapons and killing everybody melee was my go to way as soon as I accidently realized I could do so in the first level. If you would differentiate the weapons more and make melee more high risk you could have a great little action platformer at your hands.

My Little Cultist - Sacrifice is Magic - Babby's First Eldritch Ritual edition by homeworld 2018-12-04T23:14:24Z

Wow, I enjoyed that very much. The art is great! and there is some neat decision making on wanting to be nimbler with a smaller amount of followers, have one huge group or spamming congregations all over the map while one guy is channeling. It did seem like the castle did nothing, or are these just spawnpoints for the inquisition?

Vincent's Sacrifice by Honest Dan 2018-12-04T22:17:59Z

Nice sprite work. I very much enjoyed playing through it. You struck a nice balance between punishing the player for doing bad and giving him the option to make it easier by giving him the choice of sacrificing "innocents"

Last Key of Robotica 3 by elitegoliath 2018-12-09T09:54:46Z

Heya, just played and won, yay. I think there is a danger that you get stuck on one side of the map, because the of the vehicles blocking you. I could still squeeze through them, but they definetively made maneuvering difficult. I think the theme is quite weak. The buddy bots are not sparse enough that it really hurts you to sacrifice them. I very quickly gathered six of them and could just heal myself whenever I wanted.

Dark Villagers by AwiX 2018-12-06T17:21:46Z

Some great art and I found the frantic gameplay very engaging. The difficulty seems to ramp up very fast and it is made even harder because of the lack of in game explanation.

Unity Sacrifice Battle(USB) by Gri-Bel 2018-12-06T17:07:17Z

Hey, the art is quite competent and with a bit more time you could have a real looker here. Sadly the gameplay is bad. Because there is no mechanic that makes spamming not the best way to play the match just ends without a winner and both players can just stay in mid trying to outspam the other. Having the grab on a cooldown and increasing the time to free yourself from being grapped with every consecutive grab would help a lot to create a more engaging game.

Death Metal Crowd Pusher by WizardOfOzzy 2018-12-05T20:51:28Z

I have to agree with with @nuclearfriend and @amolker . Right now spamming is the best strategy which is sadly not very engaging. When you try to throw your rockers deliberatly they have to much time to get back to the front and your thrown in rockers lose all their impact. On the other side, Art and music is top notch, some of the best of the games I've played so far.

PeonCraft - Sacrificed by Kornel Meszaros 2018-12-04T22:47:42Z

I like the setting a lot! Seeing the players looming over the battlefield is a very cool imagery. It is also a great touch seeing the other Units attacking the scouted buildings. But the gameplay is lacking, just running from point A to B is not very appealing.

Dungeon Sacrificer by Ancalagon 2018-12-04T22:31:27Z

The music is great but the combat feels sluggish. I think thisismyjam covered pretty much everything. Only thing I want to add is that the lack of feedback on landing or getting hit makes the combat very hard to judge. Snappier Animations and and better Feedback would help a lot.

Lord Marbles by banjoduarte 2018-12-05T18:50:44Z

Wow dude, that was some frantic fun! I could hardly think of critiquing while playing. The micromanagement is intense! Sometimes the dinos would stop seemingly random at the storage area and getting them back to work while not disturbing the other workers is very finicky. A button to select idle dinos would be great. Also the support for controll groups would help a lot.

Gears by DJH 2018-12-06T16:49:14Z

I had the same problem as @randomphantom and could reproduce that very reliable. Another bug I had was that very often the sacrifice directly after jumping did not work. I had this bug very often in the second to last stage, but sadly I couldnt pinpoint exactly how to reproduce it. The music got pretty annoying very quick. But other than those bugs and the music this was probably the best game gameplaywise I played so far. I am not a big fan of puzzle or platformer games, but this one hooked me. The yoshi style sacrifice is a great mechanic and great implementation!

LD45 — Start with nothing

...and to Nothingness Return by philomory 2019-10-17T06:23:09Z

Phew, Level 16 is quite the headscratcher. Took me a long while to destroy the castle without getting stuck. The game is very moody and the assets all fit well together and even though I dont enjoy puzzle games it hooked me enough that I did not want to lose, especially after reading that it is the final level. Well done puzzle game!

Bruno's Bootstraps by Erin 2019-10-24T06:14:53Z

At 5k I was reasonable sure that there is nothing left so see. I enjoyed this far more than expected, could be neat if the difficulty would increase by adding more in the background to try to get the player out of rythm.

I have no idea how to categorize this games and my ears hurt just as bad as my eyes, but I still want to continue :D

House of Volans by benk 2019-10-21T06:54:17Z

The inconsistent hit detection made this pretty annoying. It was very hard to judge what actual size the hitbox had and even when I thought I had an idea I got still hit because the missiles hitbox were larger than expected. Most shmups get around this issue by making both the players and projectile hitbox much smaller than the visuals suggest and I would recommend implementing this in here as well. Inconsist was also the hit detection on touching the enemies. Sometimes I could slide or walk into them and would get damage and sometimes it didnt matter. My favourite thing about the game were the visuals, they are off putting in a way that makes sense for the cult theme and the emo hairstyle of the dog at the end is a great touch.

Day Zero by Emma B 2019-10-08T10:32:06Z

Just played through the game, its a neat concept and I enjoy the presentation a lot!

Memoirs Found in a by Dane Tesla 2019-10-11T06:45:12Z

Hey, I got stuck in the church, but still really enjoyed it. The way you obfuscate the enviroment and reveal it through the objects is really cool, but I wish it was a bit more generous. The same can be said about the light cone, I just wish I could see a little bit more of everything. I also found it straining on the eyes because of that. I am a bit torn because this negative sensation seems fitting from a thematic standpoint, but makes it hard to play the game.

Collector by MechWarrior99 2019-10-16T14:38:03Z

Just beat your game. The slimes were oddly terrifying and it was really stressfull hearing them getting closer while you are still harvesting a plant. Because of the placement of the portal and the plants I was never motivated to really leave the viccinity of the portal and just harvested the 6/7 plants directly next to it, to win the game.

Succulentia by kenster 2019-10-16T06:21:55Z

Cute little Clicker Defense Game ;) It would help with playability when you would include hotkeys for the different tools.

Gundemonium by AkirAssasin 2021-04-28T14:09:11Z

Really nice graphics and very fun to play - and also quite difficult in contrast to other jam entrys. Loved the high pace and minimalistic design! The comment by @schwede is true though - its really much easier to go to the complete left or right, but it gets more difficult with the random holes deeper down. I didnt like, that the guys jumping down could not be shot immediately, that was kinda frustrating and killed most of my attempts

Downward Frog by GogglesKitty 2021-04-28T13:19:05Z

Very cool game and the eels are great enemies which create very tense sections while not being super difficult, just by how menacing there are. The art overall is really cute and well done. The difficulty might just be a little bit too high for my liking. Some obstacles very tight with the timing.

Doctor Shrink by Flaterectomy 2021-04-28T15:19:37Z

Very fun idea! I had problems with jumping: Sometimes, the jump just broke (for w and space) and I had to kill myself so that it worked again. I could not finish the game because of that. Still, nice gameplay!

Gurk's Tower by monkeybit29 2021-04-30T23:10:05Z

The art is super charming, especially the protagonist! I was intrigued about the coins and eagerly awaiting a shop to appear, was sure after the boss there had to be a shop. I am a bit bummed out that it ended there, but that just tells you than I wanted to continue. While the gameplay is basic, I found it to be very engaging. With more enemies and some new skills I can see myself playing this for far longer.

DDR: Dive Dive Revolution by Tyrannas 2021-04-29T17:40:38Z

Beautiful game and cool idea - though very hard to coordinate both hands at the same time! Even when just concentrating on the rhythm and ignoring the coins it was challenging, but very fun and interesting!

Debate Time by NidzaKornjaca 2021-04-27T13:22:38Z

Great entry, the core idea is super striking and so is the art, but it lacks the depth to be engaging for more than a few minutes. As the player you have already exhausted all mechanics after the third enemy and there is nothing new to keep you in. If you would expand on the core ideas you could have a real winner on your hands. One major minus for me is the lack of transpareny in the enemy actions and that I could not see the values on the cards without hovering over them.

Boombox by auxC 2021-04-29T17:18:54Z

Very solid entry. Is level 4 infinite or just very long? I stopped after a few minutes, by that it had lost all its tension and I could have gone on for basically forever. Props to the artists aswell, the artstyle and execution is very well done!

Fish'n'Ship by tipyx 2021-04-27T14:21:52Z

Always died right at the edge of 11.000. Took me a while to understand all the weaknesses. There seems to be some problem with stations being bugged and not working sometimes, or atleast the effects not playing. Because of that and overall lack of feedback and very subtle health bars the game was quite opaque and difficult to grasp. But after understanding all the rules the game was very fun!

5/5 for the name and logo design. The art overall is really nice!

Deepest Sword by Strega 2021-04-27T15:51:26Z

Great entry, only problem I have with it that it always feels like you are wrestling with the ingame physics, instead of you being actually in control. Especially the later areas with the longest sword feel like the level design isnt complementing the gameplay, but exploiting the physics. Other than that I enjoyed it a lot, and especially some of the earlier levels are very cool when you have to traverse them again with a longer sword and the strategy to use changes.

Scython by BinarySpark 2021-04-28T13:54:47Z

Great game, I am a sucker for any kind of tower defense. The upgrades and higher corruption density were hard to differentiate, making it difficult to grasp the state of the field at a glance. I am impressed by the number of levels you have in there and the balance feels great. I might revisit this game even after the jam again

Going Down by omer1615 2021-04-30T21:52:53Z

What a great and unique idea. I haven't seen anything like this before, but at the time I feel like there is nothing to expand on in this idea. You can only do so much to manipulate a line and I think you exhausted the idea. While the puzzle plattforming gets too easy pretty quickly you did a great job breaking it up with the little dialogue bits. Very cool entry.

Drain the Sea by tgb20 2021-04-27T15:18:23Z

@divford I think its actually 50,000m to win.

Just won the game. The concept is very cute and there are some charming details, like the black dots on the ice, which I can only image are penguins. On the gameplay side the game is quite easy to cheese. If it wasn't so easy to cheese it could have been an interesting challenge to balance the different buildings.

The Icarus by PowerAnze 2021-04-27T16:13:10Z

@runuchok Thank you for your feedback. That is sadly a limitation of how I implemented the sonar. When I created it I liked the effect a lot and kept it because of that, but in hindsight I am not sure if I would do it like that again. Your concern is definetely valid and I share it.

The Icarus by PowerAnze 2021-04-27T19:53:34Z

@kr4ft3r if I am not mixing something up, there should be a tunnel straight down, right above where the next waypoint is visible. It is very tight and easy to miss. I made that section too hard, depth in the game is often very hard to gauge, especially sudden changes like at that spot.

Did you notice the effect that is showing the direction towards the next waypoint? It is easy to miss when playing, but it might help you find the way.

The Icarus by PowerAnze 2021-04-28T08:52:49Z

@baturinsky Thank you for playing the game. Yes, there is only one ending.

The Icarus by PowerAnze 2021-04-28T12:49:38Z

@arivenzys Thanks a lot. Wow, that hole was super obvious in hindsight :D Just fixed it in 1.6

The Icarus by PowerAnze 2021-04-28T15:31:39Z

@valeth2124 Thank you for your feedback. Can you elaborate on what you mean by no boundaries? There should be green dots whereever the sonar finds a wall, did you not have these? With these visible you should get a sense of motion. Bumping into the wall does nothing. The game would have been too punishing with you losing health everytime you bump into something. The great impact sound is punishment enough :D

The Icarus by PowerAnze 2021-04-28T17:56:32Z

@astavie Sadly not, I used Playmaker, a Visual Scripting tool for Unity and I cant give access to that without sharing the whole project. There is no actual readable code. But if you have a specific question I would be happy to answer it!

The Icarus by PowerAnze 2021-04-29T07:52:47Z

@brainloaf-studio @vivien-fargette Thank you both for your kind comments!

If the game wasnt for a jam I might have added a real health system, but I didn't want to punish the players too hard for not understand a movement system with is probably new to every player. I pondered capping the health at 1, so the players would still have tension but I think restricting the hull getting damage down to just events does a greater service to the story. I also didn't want to force players to replay a relatively slow game when there are thousands more games waiting to get played. In short, I get the sentiment and with more time I would probably implemented damage in some way or another. Thank you for Input!

You touch on many points that I agree with. An Idea I had very early but scrapped because of time was to have a camera or a porthole to look out through. Just imagine if you would look outside and some eldritch abomination would stare back. Some goes for the pacing and flow concerns you bring up and if I continue working on this game I will need to find some solutions that fit the game better. Again thank you very much for your detailed comment, I wish I could give you more than just one heart!

It's Nice Down There by TheJonu 2021-04-27T16:36:42Z

I am not sure if that is intended or not, at the last floor the five rings spawned directly behind the ladders. That setup made it impossible to get through. Luckily a restart of the game fixed that issue.

Intended or not, that showed that the colliders for the enemies are far larger than the enemy themselves, atleast for the rings. I feel like there was a tonal clash, voicelines and setup funny / visuals and music creepy, for me it was just neither in the end. The gameplay itself, while a bit wonky with the hitboxes and weird movement, was engaging enough for me to want to finish the game.

Very cool Reigns like game. I am not sure if all the values for the cards are correct, sometimes nothing happened when the card had an effect on it. The Bed card for example didn't do anything. Indications of how the bars changed would have been great, sometimes it is hard to see just how the card affected the bars.

Very cool aesthetics and I loved the audio design. Reminded me a bit of "From Dust" if you know that game. The movement is quite novel, but sadly the game outstays its welcome by quite a bit. If the game would be a bit tighter/story beats more closely together it would benefit. Also love the atmosphere it creates.

Escape from Space by Xwilarg 2021-10-07T09:25:38Z

Great idea. The effects of the actions are a bit hard to gauge. I was never sure why exactly someone died. This is worsened because the sanity gauges are hidden behind the main UI, making them easily missible. Otherwise I enjoyed this, its a great narrative toy to play with and when expanded on could make a great fully fledged game!

Fission Friends by Peco 2021-10-05T17:55:58Z

Very fun and cute game! Loved the animation with the little sparkles when they break down (οΎ‰>Ο‰<)ノq*ο½₯οΎŸβ€™β˜… It gets surprisingly hard early on and keeps on being fun - simple idea with nice payoff. The only small annoyance with it I have is the player behaviour when being hit. It can often throw you right into large groups without a real chance of breaking out again, which results in a loop of getting hit over and over. Sparkles ~β˜…

Music is very groovy, I dont agree that it needs a melody to be effective.

Captain Dinohater by Kartik Kini 2021-10-06T18:09:52Z

Doing something so wrong never felt so right. I would never want to kill any dinosaurs, especially ones so remarkable cute as the ones you created. I am sure that I will revisit this game after the jam. Would love to see this game expanded aswell! Only gripe I have is that the game can get very hard to read with the rapid changes of the stage and effects and bullets flying around.

The Penguins Below by michaelaranda 2021-10-07T13:02:31Z

Oh wow, I am bad at coordinating my fingers for this game. The visuals and audio work well together. You mended a oppressing atmosphere perfectly with the absurd penguin crew and I love it. Especially the little squeak when one of the penguing *accidently* gets crushed.

Tables & Tremors by SlimmerBurger 2021-10-05T22:04:38Z

The idea is great! Only gripe that keeps me from wanting to play more is how finicky the aiming is, would love a bit more leeway on that to make some of the very tight jumps a bit more managable. Other than that an awesome entry!

UNTetris by JaviCoder 2021-10-06T17:24:31Z

What a great execution of a great idea! I love the little homage to the tetris melody in the music aswell. Really, nothing negative to note here except that I loved it!

Anmerkung 2021-10-05 220605.png Okay, oof. This took me half an hour. This game is addictive in the best way. Would fit perfect in a Wario Ware style game. Great job.

Is the car getting more volatile the higher the score is? It feels harder to control at higher scores, but that might also just be a trick of the mind.

Inside by not-tomo 2021-10-06T11:18:27Z

Love the concept behind it. Though I wish there were more clues about whats actually going on, my guess is that we killed the girl we meet at the start? Maybe feed it to the cat? The prison sequence is too dark, it was just guessing if you could walk somewhere or not.

Love that line!

Honestly, the writing was superb! Normally I hate story driven games but this one hit the mark for me. Great mix of humour and insight. The changing tones where also a great way to illustrate how different outlooks on life can hamper and/or help in certain situations. I had a lot of fun playing this! Also, more Strudel interactions please. *bark*

Ziggy Zapper and the Robot Factory by rogual 2026-04-26T19:56:40Z

Heya, thank you for submitting the game to my stream. Just came back to it and full cleared it! I am super impressived with this game and I can just repeat what I said on stream already. I love how you iterate on the idea with the different blocks and add new mechanics. The old school bottom UI is great, levels changing color on the minimap to show if you found the triangle, having a music change button. So many great touches. Also the level design is great, especially with some rooms requiring to loop the map to reach specific parts, it is just all fantastic. With more stages I could easily see this become a full release, as it is already a feature complete game. Would love to see where you would take it!

Dread Frequency by Roitchie 2026-04-28T17:41:23Z

I thought this was pretty cute. From the way the "monster" was talking I expected some kind of twist, maybe like Red Riding Hood that the player avatar is the real monster in the situation. The interactions with the creature were pretty cute in general as well, it seemed we both were equaly confused talking to each other. I honestly felt a bit bad leaving it behind, maybe it just wanted a friend :(

Some kind of ingame tutorial would have been nice. I dont know if I missed it, but at first I didnt understand that I had to time my interactions with the wave while talking. The game left me a bit confused what the intended tone was supposed to be and overall I took it as a humorous game more than a horror one.

The Sound Store by Jejkobb 2026-04-26T19:44:26Z

Heya, thank you for submitting the game to my stream. I had a blast with it! Actually just played it a bit more to get on the leaderboard. 45.3 Easy and 2:02.5 Hard, so close to sub 2minutes but sadly I wasnt blessed with easier patterns in my runs. This game had been my favourite so far, I love the implementation of signal, the intro is super cute, a complete tutorial etc etc etc. Probably my favourite QOL feature are the little tips though when you get it wrong. From start to finish this game is just so lovely and such a smooth experience to play. I really hope you will place high!

@technicalitycreations @blushingcrow In case you wanna give it another shot I added a windows build under downloads

Safe Haven by PowerAnze 2026-04-26T19:06:20Z

@wouter52 Totally agree on all your points! We were super casual this jam and spent barely two after noons on this game. There is a ton of polish and just general quality of life missing. Nevertheless I appreciate you taking the time to try it out. And thanks for liking the main menu I drew! :D

I also added at least a bit more text to the description here to make some stuff a bit clearer

Safe Haven by PowerAnze 2026-04-26T19:59:43Z

@discomorphine Thank you so much for playing and your feedback. I'll it relay to our coder. I'm just the artist ^^ If I remember correctly the attracting girl is actually doing it in a spiral pattern, which is very unintuitive. Its noted o7

Pied Piper TD by Onizik 2026-04-26T19:17:28Z

Heya, thank you for submitting the game to my stream β™₯ I think there is a lot of potential in this game idea and primarily polish that is lacking. For example that spiders might get lured for a wee bit longer after they are out of range, just so you dont have to juggle them as much. Also in it current form it seems like the most optimal strategy might be to just focus on a singular house and just let all the others die? More incentives to keep all houses intact would be cool, or greater punishment for losing a house. Maybe not being able to lure the enemies indefinetly would be good. Currently it was a bit wacky that you could just stand around one house and just lure the spiders away forever without any punishment.

Also curious if it was a bug that spiders sometimes were stuck/got pushed away right at the edge of the song range?

Dragonia Siege by Euler Moises 2026-04-26T19:48:00Z

Thank you for submitting the game to the stream. I dont think I have anything to add to what I said live beside that the AI art is a massive negative to me.

New London 3D Turbo 2000 by Revetoon 2026-04-26T20:05:38Z

Heya, thank you for submitting your game to my stream, I had a blast with it! This was surely the funniest game this jam I played so far and getting pummeled by the raining cars was great. For me this felt very much like a rage game and I can easily see the game being expanded in that direction. The visual and sound design are great as well, especially love the sound when you do tricks.

The only real issues I had were with navigating, sometimes the turns were a bit too twisty for me and I got lost on the map. Any help guiding me to the next stage would be appreciated.

Love Caps by Wouter52 2026-04-25T18:50:08Z

Thank you for submitting the game to the stream. As far as game jam games go, I think this is one of the best designed games for that. Not being able to die, short sessions, replayability. As far as theme goes I also love that you chose mushrooms and their vast "root" networks as the basis. It is hard to read the gamestate/environment easily. A lot of colors are similar, so especially when moving quickyl it kinda becomes a bit of a mush. Especially the stamina mushrooms got lost very easily. I do love though that when you run out of stamina everything fades away expect stamina mushrooms, which is a great touch. The biggest design gripe I have is that it is a bit too simplistic, digging down and following a direction is very straight forward. So disconnecting the "root vision" with the "overworld vision" a bit and adding obstacles could be an interesting way to further develop the idea. Another potential feature could be that different ground types have a different traversal cost and less "root vision", like sand costing more and barely giving a direction.

Overall I did enjoy it a lot though and would be interested in seeing how the idea get further explored.

Desktop Jar by ranejeb 2026-04-25T18:25:09Z

Thank you for submitting this to the stream today. I'm not really a gambling person or get addicted to games, with one exception being Idle/Incremental games. So I am making the conscious desicion to not play this game anymore for fear of falling prey to it :(

I do quite enjoyed playing around with this and I think this is a fabulous little companion desktop toy. It a cute way to keep motivation while typing away. Maybe I dont really wanna finish my current task, but hunting the next keycap type could just be motivation enough. All to say, great in its simplicity and I enjoyed playing around with it.

Walkietalkie Runnie by mofox 2026-04-25T18:33:18Z

Thanks for submitting the game to my stream. I enjoyed playing it a lot! Although I was definitely confused at some points who I need to listen to. I think in part it was also that I am sick and just had trouble processing the information, driving the car and commentating. I do love the concept and interpretation of the theme. A small but easily fixable problem I had that sometimes i didnt have enough time to react to cars, having the camera/player more left on the screen would be an easy fix.

Officially Dead by TechnicalityCreations 2026-04-25T18:54:09Z

Thanks for submitting the game to my stream. It was puntastic. It has so many cute details and especially the little quality of life additions like chairs auto aiming is a great detail. Was a super fun short romp in defending myself with office supplies.
