LD42 — Running out of space

Path of Excess: Hoarder vs Horde by quill18 2018-08-14T14:28:47Z

I really like Quil18, started me off in learning to make games, but this game just doesn't feel as nice as previous entries. Mechanics work well, but the game itself is kinda slow. Just inventory management, which I personally don't like in any game so it might just be me.

Gravitwister by Drury 2018-08-15T14:28:58Z

Visual Effects and Audio were great. I did have a problem where I would leave the screen and didn't know how to get back a few times.

TP2: Cryo Crisis by homeworld 2018-08-14T18:52:50Z

Game looks pretty good but runs poorly at higher resolutions.

Bag Packer by Improx Games 2018-08-14T16:48:13Z

The game had a good concept. Trying to grab things was a little frustrating and ultimately is why I stopped playing. I think highlighting what you are currently grabbing would be a good edition.

Prime Planets by bazld 2018-08-14T18:44:13Z

My first though was ugh math. Turned out to be quite fun. The computer does seem to be unbeatable but maybe I am just really bad at math.

CQC by kbjwes77 2018-08-14T15:19:14Z

Very Fun Game to Play.

Slay the Slimes by Cataractar 2018-08-14T18:13:06Z

The game was fun. Super hard. Feel that the difficulty ramp was a line drawn straight up.

GRAVEDIGGER - A final stand by Lavinski 2018-08-14T13:58:04Z

Super fun game. Difficulty is great, starts of easy and quickly becomes overwhelming. The shotgun seemed to be the best weapon for me. And using the barrel guys as bombs.

Crumbling Dungeon by JSMCAG 2018-08-14T19:52:49Z

Great use of the color scheme and I like the progression of solving the puzzles. Think you solved it only to find out you screwed up somewhere. Makes it feel good when you get it.

The Flopp by Sanguis 2018-08-14T19:41:30Z

The multiple levels within the same level as you progress is really cool. The art style and animations are also great.

Second-Claw Shop by Unpoe 2018-08-14T13:28:45Z

I really liked this game. Might be my favorite one I have played so far. The low resolution look, plus the music in the back really sold me on it all. At first I didn't quite understand why I couldn't pick up items from certain people, then I realized its because its what they want. Might want to consider making that a little more apparent in the future. For LD40 I made a very similar game, but your execution is far better.

Shrinking Bubbles by StJester 2018-08-14T16:56:41Z

Took my a second to figure out movement, but once I did I like its effect. I fell the objective wasn't super clear though.

Extra Trash by tgb20 2018-08-14T13:37:46Z

@lavinski If you played on a windows computer you should be able to see the max number of Sats you ever had in orbit. If you played on mac it gets mushed in with the newspaper, not sure why, only shows up in the compiled version. You can still see it, just hard to find.

Extra Trash by tgb20 2018-08-15T14:15:41Z

@star-garden Yeah the How To was a last minute thing. Defiantly could have been done better.

Cubiqum by Arqcenick 2018-08-14T19:48:06Z

Game is very nice and relaxing. The music is good for the game, but has a hard cut when it loops. Also couldn't beat the second level, but thats my fault.

Evolucity - Build as high as you can! by Mazzletov 2018-08-14T19:35:58Z

Fun game. Steep learning curve. While I was awful at the game it worked great.

Hive World by cachodragon 2018-08-15T14:45:05Z

Played the game a few times. I was never able to win, but I could get pretty close with a very simple pattern. Skip the first few turns until I can research, then fix all the problems with the middle option. Then keep fixing with the middle option until only 2-3 sections are red. Skip until research then go back to the start. This could get me anywhere from 50-80% completion. I think balancing the game is limited by the time you had so its understandable for there to be exploits. I think some sound, even some clicks when pressing buttons would have made the game feel much less flat. I liked the overall visual style of the game, but you had some layer issues with the UI that would put the panels in front of the text you were trying to show. In all I liked the game, it shows good potential, just needs more time.

Pre Alpha Build by PlusMinus 2018-08-15T14:24:51Z

The game was a good concept. Defiantly needs improvement. Felt my goal wasn't clearly defined. I still had fun playing.

Screen Saver by Sammy6 2018-08-14T19:24:16Z

Awesome to see a game done in scratch!

TCGD AntiVirus '98 by Allen Oliver 2018-08-14T19:30:14Z

Game is fun once you get the hang of it. Really like the art style.

Logistic Dumping by EthanTheBrave 2018-08-14T13:19:34Z

I enjoyed the game. Was relaxing to play. Required you to think about what you were doing and plan your routes in advanced. While the audio track was repetitive, it was not badly so. Worked well as a continuous background.

Collapsing Reality by SamuelDeboni 2018-08-14T14:10:07Z

Really Fun Game. Wanted to just keep playing.

Jail Space by dangerbackwards 2018-08-14T15:00:14Z

The game was enjoyable and looked nice. Wasn't able to ever beat it. Think either I am bad, or it needs the other types of L blocks.

Sugar Withdrawal by Raccoon_JS 2018-08-14T18:08:35Z

How do you play your game? The downloads seem to be a project folder. I don't see an executable.

Spaco by Johannimations 2018-08-14T17:18:36Z

@johannimations Game is still not playable. You need the Data Folder, Mono Folder, Exe, Crash Handler, and Dll to run the game. Right now you are missing the mono and crash handler.

Spaco by Johannimations 2018-08-14T18:21:49Z

@johannimations It seems identical to how it was before. Do you need to update the download link? Don't feel bad for your first time. You made a game and did something which is great.

Spaco by Johannimations 2018-08-15T13:52:27Z

@johannimations Got to play it. Great first entry! Sound would have improved it, but now you have experience for the next one.

Dying Planet by JK studio 2018-08-14T21:23:34Z

The game is a good idea. Had a lot of problems placing stuff. Seemed to only work some of the time. Other people have mentioned the lack of sound and I also agree with them.

Six Spaces by Star Garden 2018-08-14T18:34:10Z

Was a good game. Felt good when you got the order of things and solved the puzzles.

Compress Chaos by Xerozylir 2018-08-14T18:24:05Z

I would love to play your game but I don't install anything. Maybe in the future provide a web build, or a direct exe of the game.

Blacking out of Whiteness by luxdark 2018-08-14T18:19:54Z

Overall it is a pretty good concept. I felt like my goal wasn't really explained. Also it runs in full screen but I could not find a way to close the game besides force killing it.

Color Run by Adam Pandos 2018-08-14T13:07:50Z

I like the general look of the game, but its difficulty is far too high. Could not reach the second wall more than once every 10 attempts in the first level.

You Should Be Executed by Haeder2132 2018-08-14T13:35:56Z

This game was okay to me. It wasn't bad, but the game play and music was a little repetitive.

Refugee Rescue by William Akins 2018-08-14T15:56:19Z

I had fun playing it, but like many of noticed before, my boat turned into a sub after a little bit. Other than that its a good idea.

Bathtub Toys by KMCE 2018-08-14T16:53:10Z

This game is great. Super simple and had a smile on my face the entire time I was playing it. One improvement would be to see where the toys are falling, maybe just a half second before. Died a few times by one spawning directly in front without time to react.

Build Out In Space by nikasxirtla 2018-08-14T15:49:59Z

Fun Game. I enjoyed playing it, but as you play it gets easier. Perhaps it would be good to remove blocks occasionally.

Inadequate Ark by Sean Turner 2018-08-14T13:49:46Z

Game was enjoyable. Reminded me a lot of Papers Please. Game was really hard, or maybe I am just bad.

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Goats in the Grotto by tgb20 2018-12-13T16:39:28Z

@justcamh The play button works, you just need to click on the bottom of it. There is a glitch with the Unity UI system that we can't seem to solve. Sorry.

Goats in the Grotto by tgb20 2018-12-16T23:23:59Z

@justcamh Thanks for the feedback! The clicking being a single button was intentional, to make you purposely kill your goats, but perhaps it was overdone. The last level can be beaten without luck, but it requires planning from the start of the game. The pixelation of the game was created before the menus were made, and when making the menus it was in the last rush of the jam so didn't get a lot of time to give feedback to the artist about stuff, looked good so we used it. Collisions were an issue. Most of the jam was focused on mechanics, all the levels and the switching between levels were made in the last 3 hrs of the jam so cut a few corners there. For the music, we kinda made it. It was created by us, but with a NN, rather than by hand and then cut down to what sounded good. Thanks again for the feedback. Hopefully after exams I will be able to check out your game.

LD45 — Start with nothing

better to be Soul by HolyShot 2019-10-08T00:09:43Z

Drive is not letting me download your files, I would guess this is because it contains an exe. Perhaps you could move it to another host like dropbox?

Soul Avenger by Kaizo 2019-10-08T00:16:11Z

The art and sounds were very nice, but I found I could only hurt the reapers sometimes. Also when walking left at the start the screen shakes and I cannot hurt the reaper at all.

LD46 — Keep it alive

Locked'goshi by StabAlarash 2020-04-20T22:33:42Z

It was fun to play, I really liked clicking around on the different activities, and got a good kick out of toilet paper being currency. I really liked the GB art style, in fact my game this year was programmed to run on an original gameboy. Some controls would have been a nice help, I lost a bit of time to that, but really enjoyed it. Good job!

LD46: The Lighthouse at the End of the Universe by LMB 2020-05-06T01:34:22Z

It seems enjoyable, and I like the idea it had, but the keyboard controls were lacking. When using the arrow keys on a Mac and shooting I would constantly end up switching windows. Also having the enemies have full axis movement but the player locked to 4/8 makes it really hard to get to them. If I was able to test with a non browser I might have made it a bit longer.

The Tranquility by tgb20 2020-05-11T01:54:55Z

@kjscott Thanks for playing. On a gameboy pressing B(X) chooses the second option in a menu, this is intentional gameboy design. So by pressing B you are choosing option 2, the continue option, this is how the majority of all gameboy games function. And for the game quitting, again this is a gameboy game, there is no "quit". The browser is running a gameboy emulator. The not play again just lets you fly around for a bit, as I can't actually turn off a gameboy through the rom.

Johnny The Stupid Electron by Collin Thompson 2020-05-06T01:31:08Z

I like the physics and bounciness of the characters, but I couldn't quite get a hang of how to play the game. I could keep it going for a little bit, but eventually I would just knock Johnny into lightspeed and lose. I think having a warmup area where the user can learn the controls would be a good addition to this game.

Gooperworm by BloodpulpGames 2020-04-20T14:22:07Z

It was enjoyable and visually well polished. I did get stuck on the second level, and it wouldn't progress (no new snakes or auto moving to the next level) so I just had to use the level editor to skip forward.

Boxes in space by DSF100 2020-05-06T01:26:54Z

Interesting game, I enjoyed it. I think a good addition for furthering this game would be to add some way of destroying the rocks, like in asteroids, or creating some kind of wall by dragging on the screen. Would add a bit more mix in.

Suicidal timer by sledzik 2020-04-20T14:14:54Z

An interesting little game. I would recommend in the future adding the option to disable full screen. Things didn't quite look right on the size of my monitor.

LUDUM DARE 46 by ZeppelinGames 2020-04-20T14:08:31Z

I enjoyed the game, the intro cutscene was cool and I really like the minecart section. As I mentioned on stream I think adding music controls and a basic tutorial would be good editions.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Drain the Sea by tgb20 2021-04-27T15:27:50Z

@divford @danga @studio-gomp @poweranze When I was editing the how to for the text to fit I made a typo and deleted an extra 0. You need to reach 50K to win.

Drain the Sea by tgb20 2021-04-27T15:28:36Z

@c3ll256 That means you are using more energy than you have available, you need to build generators or solar to get more.

Drain the Sea by tgb20 2021-04-27T15:29:12Z

@thegreenworm The camera controls were the first thing I made! I wanted it to feel good to play

Drain the Sea by tgb20 2021-04-27T15:38:15Z

@afroant I agree strongly with the ingame UI, my main issue was trying to keep the things you can interact with voxel based, but not crowding the screen. I ran out of time before I could come up with an elegant solution so they all got dropped on the How To page.

Clown Pup by skill347 2021-05-18T15:58:05Z

The art and music were great, it was a little hard to navigate and get around, along with figuring out what to do.

Deirdre & Pedro by Frogravity 2021-04-27T14:28:57Z

This game has a pretty good idea, my coordination isn't great so it was pretty hard but I did eventually win! There were a few instances where I would lose 2 lives on the same object but otherwise it played very well.

Final Exam by nodice 2021-04-27T14:33:42Z

Very short with some interesting effects, I like how you wrote the mini story, it would have been nice if it was a little longer.

Blue Square and the Mystery Cave by asdehielo 2021-04-27T14:17:13Z

This is the first game I have played in the jam so far and I liked it a lot! A very nice start to my day. I found the puzzles and ending enjoyable, though with some of the parts of the game it seemed more like blind luck then actually solving a puzzle. I enjoyed the music and sound effects, but the music does just sound like the default sound generated by tones.fm so I had to take some off for music.

Blue Square and the Mystery Cave by asdehielo 2021-04-27T15:30:34Z

@asdehielo Ah thanks for the clarification, guess the puzzle was a bit more than what I was thinking haha.

LD49 — Unstable

Death?Box by wafflesys 2021-10-17T14:32:20Z

This is a great first run at LD Jam and I hope you keep coming back to future ones. The game has a good foundation but I think with more time and some more variety it could have been greatly improved. Much of it is a waiting game with a little movement. This plays far better than my first game and I can't wait to see what you come up with in future events!

Kaboom Box by kleinzach 2021-10-17T14:22:42Z

This was a very fun puzzle game! I didn't realize until the last level it wasn't timed so I rushed through a few that would have been better to actually work out every aspect. I liked the controls and the logic of some puzzles, a few were super simple or I solved on accident lol. A good and unique take on the theme.

50 Crowns for 50 Kings by juxipolo 2021-10-17T14:08:53Z

This is an incredible game to be made in this time frame and I am super surprised I was only the 20th person to rate it! Expanding this to a world wide, more political risk would make quite the follow up if you every want to keep improving it. One of the best I have played so far.

Deepwell Safety Inc. by rock-gong 2021-10-17T14:15:48Z

This was a fun game to play and I enjoyed the almost papers please like aspect. I did have some issues where text would advance instantly, not leaving me time to read it. I also had a few days where nothing happened and I would just lose money. Overall it is a good concept for a game.

Rocky Reactor by Hare Software 2021-10-17T14:45:12Z

This was a very fun game! One of the I went to play another round right away. I agree with the person above me that this would make a great card game, almost like a small scale risk.

Reactor by Birdwards 2021-10-17T14:38:16Z

This was a fun and simple game. The movement was quite challenging to get the hang of for myself but eventually I got into the flow of things. I found that for a good part of the game the splitting would take care of themselves. I don't know how you decided to choose what they split into but it might be good to make it have some context awareness if you decide to develop further. Speaking of that I liked the nature of the game and could see it as a game you play while waiting for the bus, something to get your brain working and being able to pickup and putdown quickly. It is quite fun!

Unstable Mind by PashaLoban 2021-10-10T20:25:24Z

From reading other comments it seems like this game has an interesting premise but even on my screen brightest setting it was hard for me to make out anything. I understand that it being dark is a key part of the game, but perhaps it would be good to think about more accessible options in the future.

Drops of Neon by Blind Archer 2021-10-10T20:24:03Z

This is a pretty fun game, I enjoyed a couple rounds of it. Before I knew what I was doing I scored better lol. I think it would be cool if you got more points for merging bigger sections, maybe have the cash in be a keybind. That way you could gamble with how many you want to store.

Lovecrafting by Concker_88 2021-10-17T14:27:28Z

This game looks incredible for being put together in such a short time span!

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Eventually Corn Runs Out by tgb20 2022-04-07T22:51:36Z

@iguanana Thanks for the feedback! Music is my weak point and making music for the game boy is even harder :(

Eventually Corn Runs Out by tgb20 2022-04-07T22:52:14Z

@darandin I ran out of time to add something on screen but that would have been nice. Did you see you could press start to open a menu that showed your resources?

Eventually Corn Runs Out by tgb20 2022-04-07T22:53:22Z

@cppchriscpp The cursor speed is actually a limitation of the GB CPU. If you go down to Mexico or up to Canada and all the cities unload it moves pretty quickly. I did most of the development with only 1 city so I didn't realize the bottleneck until it was too late.
