Can't open ;/
I cannot run UnityPlayer not found or something
I cannot run UnityPlayer not found or something
Can't run your game. Even when I put my own UnityPlayer.dll file in the directory, it gives me an error about not being able to start correctly.
I can't open the game either
Keep doing games
needs all of the exported files to be playable, sorry. digging the art style tho
@jeremy-ryan are you now able to run my game? Please tell me
@johannimations Game is still not playable. You need the Data Folder, Mono Folder, Exe, Crash Handler, and Dll to run the game. Right now you are missing the mono and crash handler.
The main issue of the game is that there are a lot of errors you could have easily avoid. First, you built a development build. Second, the UI is not correctly displayed (my health bar is on the middle on the screen, with a little offset to the left). Last but not least, when I reached what seemed to be the end of the level it still said "You failed". EDIT : I tried again and I could end the level, the final hitbox is just lower than I expected !
You said the artworks turned out good, which is great, but I think it would have been better if you tried a bit harder on the coding part even if it means spending less time doing the graphics. I'd rather play a well programmed ugly game than a beautiful bugged game :p
Still, the game is working, the ship is animated, the rocks are rotating... there are also good things and ideas ! Not being able to program well is an issue if you're working alone, so try to improve a bit your coding skills and I'm 100% sure you will make great games ! Keep on working and don't lose motivation ! :D
@saering thank you for this detailed feedback!!! You're right, my programming is awfull, so i didn't know how to avoid all of these bugs, without loosing to much time, so until the next ludum dareevent i will practice al lot. Are you sure you played all the levels? If you have one last health point and colide with the goal you fail, thats a bug, if you try again and try to in ith 2 health, then you will succeed. Sorry for all the errors. The later levels will be more interestng
@johannimations While you keep motivation, you can only improve ! And do not be sorry for the errors, there are errors in every games, some of them are just more... game-breaker haha. And that's by doing errors you will improve ; on my ludum dare 42 entry I forgot to implement input for english keyboards ! Now that I did the error I won't do it another time !
I would recommand you to check these two youtube channels : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9Z1XWw1kmnvOOFsj6Bzy2g and https://www.youtube.com/user/Brackeys
They both do great videos and tutorials on Unity and programming in C#. Keep in mind that you don't need to have professional skills in programming to do nice games ! Most of the time the basics are enough if you know how to use them :)
@tgb20 thank you for all this feedback. Please understand that I am realy new to this all, so your comments are really helpful to someone like me. I think i fixed it now a second time, so please tell me if so or not. Sorry for waisting your time, I hope until the next ludum dare jam i will be betterin such things.
@johannimations It seems identical to how it was before. Do you need to update the download link? Don't feel bad for your first time. You made a game and did something which is great.
@saering i watch a lot of stuff from brackeys allready, but i will check out the other one definetely. Thanks for helping me out so much and the tips for improving.
@tgb20 Are you sure? I tried it myself and it led me to my new zip file with mono and crashhandler. thanks forthe feedback again, i look what i can do
Hey man, I wasn't able to open your game (in your game folder, look for UnityPlayer.dll file and include that in the zip file if you find it. That will fix this issue). But I like your graphics, so I gave you a good score for that. This is just your first time, everyone has problems like this when they first start. Your second game will be even better, keep it up:)
Is there a mac build coming out?
@earnso no i don't think so. I have enough problems with windows and i don't even have downloaded the support for mac in unity. but i apreciate your interest in my game
@ben-penwell Thank youso much! I've learned much fromthe experience and it was worth the time just for all these feedbackcomments i get. That gives me a lot of motivation
I wanna play your game, but i have only Linux on my machine. Couldn't rate your game.
Cant run it :P
@rangoiv do you know the reason, because i thought it as fixed, my friends could run it as a matter of fact. its only supported for windos
For your first Ludum Dare entry, this is pretty decent. The art is nice and I like how your ship thrusts forward a little bit whenever it moves forward. The game is pretty basic, but it's well made for what it is. It could use some background music and sound effects, but I'd say that I had a good time playing this game. Good job!
@superpokeunicorn thank you for feedback! i can tell you that i have composed the most awesome music from me so far, but i was to dumb to write the correct programm to implement it. so i took it out, but if anyone coud help me with that i would be pleased, you must understand my scripts are realy messy...
I wanna play your game, but I have only Linux Mint on my machine. Couldn’t rate you. See our game (it’s multi-platform written on LibGDX)
Nice Game. Overall not bad. Hope more people can run it now. It worked for me... Well done!
good Game not bad it worked for me :)
@johannimations nice game, I would love to hear your music, can you link it?
@joschi i'dlove to, i'll put it in dropbox as well and send you the links in the comments
the first time i thougth the + and - where the aim so i was tryng to shoot the asteroids XD, after a few tryes i got it! it was fun to play,i like how did you use "running out of space" as litterally running in the space xD nice job :D!
Don't worry about messed up programming. You did something a lot of ppl can't: Start a project and upload it here!
@kaipi thank you!!!that wasn't actually intended, i thought it would be funny to have it set in space while also making the player run out of space to fly in between the rocks, so the motto is: running out of space in space
Kind of reminds me of the stuff I made when I was first starting out making games. Keep it up! Game jams are a great way to get better because making games is pretty hard, especially under such tight time limits.
On a side note, for the future try uploading something on itch.io. It's probably the most popular place to host games, and it's probably also the most convenient way to do so.

@joschi here you go, thats the soundtrack
Nice look but no html5 version available :(
I love the style of the spaceship
@johannimations Nice Soundtrack :D you can play piano?
@joschi Yes i do. It was easier for me to compose music on the piano, since I'm horrible at composing with software.
I listened to the soundtrack and it is really nice. The game would get a lot better if you could add the music to the game.
@timbals Thank you, but i'm affraid, it's too late for that
@johannimations Got to play it. Great first entry! Sound would have improved it, but now you have experience for the next one.
Nice soundtrack indeed ^^ There was some little bugs indeed (like the asteroids that sometimes kills the player and sometime not), but keep working ! ^^
Solid game.. had fun playing. Most obvious improvements: I would suggest working on the hit boxes of the colliders (use polygon colliders in this case). Sometimes I crashed without expecting it and sometimes I survived although partially overlapping with the asteroids. As mentioned before: Use itch.io and WebGL (HTML5) to make your game more accessible. Nevertheless great first entry! Keep it going!
@tgb20 @unfinished @inferture
Thank you all for this positiv and helpfull featback. I will participate next time and hope programming will be better. For implimenting the music it is to late now unfortunatelly, but i think next time will be better
Quite a challenging game. I love pixel graphic. Good work :)
I loved it! I made a drawing of a spaceship once and it looked like that, so you know I like it ;)
@rayne Thanks a lot, just out of interest how did you find my game, because since it got placed down, nearly nobody found it anymore. I saw your game and it looks really nice, but since i have no time yet i will play and rate it this evening.
@johannimations I saw it on the LD page at random order! The main image seemed interesting :) I wait for your comments on my game this evening!
Awesome game! I enjoy the art and mood of it. Keep up the good work!
Cool game. The collisions on the meteors were a little weird tho
@sthor726 Thanks a lot!
Nice game! cool
@andrei9 Thanks a lot ;) !
Nice game, Love how everything is balanced! Good luck, Don't forget to take a look at ours if you don't mind and see what it's like when we just focused on graphics in this game jam! Game Link: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/42/spacelab-42a
