Simple yet charming and fits perfectly into the theme, nice one

Simple yet charming and fits perfectly into the theme, nice one
I liked the artstyle, and the concept was interesting, a harpoon sound woudld've been perfect there ^^ I downloaded the windows version, but it seemed like the WebGL version wasn't integrated in the page If I didn't make any mistake (and the game wasn't on the page), make sure you choose on your project (in itch.io->dashboard->edit below the project) Kind of project: HTML And below the .zip that contains the WebGL build (with index.html and all), mae sure to check "This file will be played in the browser". Ignore this if it was my mistake though, good luck :)
I also reached the point where these pure thoughts appeared and was confused as to what I had to do. I found the secret key to generate stars and spent a few minutes trying to catch one as I thought it was what was needed to continue x) Very nice graphics, the music is totally adapted to the game. The mood and the calm reflexive atmosphhere were enjoyable. Nice game overall ^^
Looked good, played good and fit into the theme ^^ Attacking vertically would be an improvement as @grahhhhhhhhh said
Love some of the humor in this game, also, the theme was present in the settings (see the title) but also in the gameplay as the more enemies were killed, the less space there was to move ^^ Did you name it after the survival game of the same name or is it a coincidence ?
Very disturbing and pretty dark, but also very humorous, I probably won't forget this one entry x)
Simple but polished and fun to play ^^ It's impressive that it was done in just one day in pure html/css ^^
Cool artstyle, nice humor, nice soundtrack, totally respects the theme, one of the best games I played in this jam so far I must say ^^
The graphics looks well together I liked the transitions between levels. It would be cool if there was some sound effects, I guess it's harder in pure java than it is with a game engine ? It still was a fun experience overall
Cool ! It was fast-paced and fun to play ^^ Maybe it would've been cool to have a button to restart, but other than that, the game was easy to get into and, once again, amusing to play ^^
Nice soundtrack, the theme is perfectly respected and the puzzles are increasingly difficult, this was a good submission ^^
Cool game, I liked there humoristic references and it was fun overall :)
It was a pleasant experience, the boss took some time, but it was original ^^ the graphics were simple but looked pretty well together (and I liked the dash effect when you move :)
I liked that game. It's true that the gameplays feels repetitive though, but since it's pretty short that's not too bad. I liked humorous touch and the retro style feels good ! One remark though, it is possible to enter a combat without enough spaces, and, if this happens, it's game over, the thing is you can't know in advance how many spaces you're going to need. It wasn't a problem in my playthrough though as I was always trying to get all the signs before opening a door, but I get the feeling that could feel frustrating for someone who would die this way (as the amount of spaces needed for a same class enemy can change, there is no way, from what I've seen at least, to know if you're ready or not, and you may enter and spend a little time in a combat you stood no chance to win in the first place).
Well, as I said it wasn't a problem in my playthrough so maybe I'm dwelling to much on this x).
The game felt good to play, I liked the retro aesthetic, keep it up!
Cool, I checked both the web version and the aandroid version, it was fun, good message. It seemed like there were fewer fps on mobile, but other than that, the controls were easy to grab (both on android and on pc) and it was a fun experience !
This game was a really nice entry! Right on the theme, cute graphics and fun audio. A couple more levels would've been great, but as it is, the game is already plenty fun too play ^^ I liked how the different animals made different sounds and were different weight ^^ Keep it up !
A bit short, but there was some cute design and nice sounds effects. Seems polished too ! Keep up the good work ^^
It took me some time to finally finish it I struggled on level 3 because I didn't pay attention in level 2 and just did the level without using the grey area (so I was clueless until I noticed passing the grey area made the cursor change direction) It's true that it is not easy, however given that there are "only" 5 levels (which is normal, it's a game jam after all), the challenge made them worth playing, but I can understand that it can be frustrating to struggle on an early level Nice challenge overall ^^
Original take on the theme, I liked the audio and the nice background.I burned in the atmosphere several time because I couldn't slow down enough, but that's part of the game and the controls are adapted to the situation (outer space). I liked that you could come out of the shuttle to take object you would've missed otherwise.
Humoorous and fits perfectly the theme. The awkward controls makes it fun to play and the whole concept is just funny. Keep up the good work ^^
I'm really amazed at the content created in so little time ! I guess being professionnal helps :) I didn't think I'd saw some story driven games in the submissions, but looks like I was wrong ^^ Keep up the good work !
Nice game you made here :) I found the graphics to be charming, and it was kind of audacious making a multiplayer game for a jam (I mean I guess, I'm new here ^^) I also liked how there were several classes with different features. Cool work overall !
Very nice entry, the graphics look good, it was fun and the audio was great, keep it up !
Fun and original, I liked the sounds effects :)
Nice one, pretty polished and I liked the neon light graphics. Perfectly fits into the theme too
I loved the Audio, the Mood was on point too. I feel like there could be more focus on the characters. Then again, making a visual novel in 3 days is in itself an achievement, and making deep interesting characters takes probably way longer than that.
Another thing that, once again, probably was difficult to squeeze into 3 days of developement, was to add some choices so that the player feels like his/her actions matter(ex: what if space power could be used for more thing and you had not enough space power to do every actions so you would've to choose what actions you were going to take and it would change the ending)
Then again, that's something that wasn't necessarily doable in such a short notice, because it crossed my mind when playing the game.
Anyway, there was a good amount of work here and it showed ! Keep it up ^^
It was simple and yet fun I liked the sound effects (people talking to the lobby and fitting music during the levels)
Cool game I really liked it ! The plateform mechanic is very well thought (I would've used an visual indicator to help the player know in which the plateform is going to grow though). Other than that, the audio was nice too ^^
Nice soundtrack indeed ^^ There was some little bugs indeed (like the asteroids that sometimes kills the player and sometime not), but keep working ! ^^
Nice use of the theme, I would've added a visible counter for the crashes though :)
Cool soundtrack, I liked the graphics and the game was polished !
Cool game, it had kind of a Sonic 3 special stage vibe to it ^^ the sound effects were nice and the theme was perfectly respected, I also liked the graphics, especially the background and the lighting (and the fact that each planet was different). It was also cool that the explanations were given during the gameplay and not in a long text before, that allows us get faster into the game. If I had to find a flaw, I'd say that the vessel was kind of slow, but I guess making it faster would've meant making it more difficult to control Anyway, keep up the good work !
Cool, the color based puzzle were a good idea, I wished the game was longer though, other than this, good work ^^
Very interesting take on the theme and fun to play ^^ At the very beginning though I didn't understand why I could jump sometimes and why I couldn't other times, then I saw the space counter increasing and it was the epiphany "Running at out ""space"" !" x)
The song and the voice-made sound effects went perfectly together ^^ One of the funniest entries I played so far !
It was enjoyable despite the few bugs I liked how Shmanos and the crabs were like the meme "Oh, you !" in the menu screen of the game x) I would make Shmanos's hitbox smaller though (exclude the head and upper body) as it feels kinda weird to be hit on these parts The music fits pretty well too !
Nice aesthetic, good soundtrack and challenging with an increasing difficulty, I enjoyed playing it !
It plays very well and it was one of the games I had the most fun playing ! Plus, it made me curious about discovering what the pico 8 was. Keep up the good work !
The audio was cool and the visual effects (especially the explosions) where nice ! It was challenging (especially the last level) but it was fun ^^
Hey Scott, thanks for playing You can make the wall retreat by shooting at them with the right color but they will always come back to you ^^ Also, even though the wall only have 4 colors, the enemies can come in much more different colors. Your idea of switching R/L stick and the R-stick in interesting though
Btw, there is no end (there is like some boss I rushed to make at about 30 score but after that it's the number of enemies gradually increasing and the boss spawning now and then). It's just a highscore game ^^
Hey Stephen, thank you for playing ! It seems like indeed, it could be a good idea to try to swap the R-stick and the triggers. Well, doing it right now would be cheating, but I think it could indeed improve the aiming.
The goal of using the joystick was to make switching color easier (ex: the green wall is at the left, just hit left with the joystiick anf you're instantaneously the right color).
It's true that it is hard to aim, especially when you gain speed bonuses (that is why I made X a slow button), so, I'm definitely considering switching those controls (maybe even making a menu where you can choose either the triggers or the joystick to change color)
Thank you for your suggestion and your feedback, it is really appreciated ^^
Weird, did you try turning it off and on again ?(sounds like a joke but actually I had this problem once and it solved it). If it still doesn't work I apologize, you can still try the downloadable version :/
Thank you Zicboy and SkyRex for playing :) Steffo, the Windows released in on the same page (download, unzip, play), let me know if it works for you ^^
@johannimations I wish I had had the time to think about a way to implement mouse + keyboard control (maybe wasd to move, q and e to turn and mouse + right click to change color / left click to shoot, or q and e to change color and mouse to turn and shoot) sadly I didn't and I barely finished (there was some more content I made that I didn't implement for example) I sure will remember this for the next game jam, thanks for taking the time to make a remark despite not being able to play the game, I appreciate it ^^
@crafty-mine it's true that I could definitely cut some decimals, maybe just keep one or two ^^
@Flash Thank you :) I indeed need to work on this side, I appreciate your remarks, it will help me not make the same mistakes again (and maybe correct it in a post-jam release ^^)!
@roidz Sorry for that I'll try to make sure to make a game playable with mouse and keyboard next time ^^
@fussenkuh Thank you ! I'm sorry you couldn't try it, I hope I'll be able to fix this issue in a post-jam release, and at least, I'll try to make sure to avoid this mistakes next times Good luck to you too ^^
@awix Thanks, I don't have (not yet at least) the skills needed to compose music (I spent a few minutes looking for a public one but in the end I prefered only keeping the content I created myself, ie no music ^^) Don't worry I always check the games of people that comments, so I'm sure to check yours out ^^
@hyprgloo Thank you, I am indeed considering using this idea on a similar project :)
@ditzel Thanks I'm glad you liked it ^^
@C0nst4ntin Thank you, it's thanks to unity that I could export it easily ^^
@norrimo I thought about making some invincible time after being hit but sadly I lacked the time to do it (as for a number of other things I wanted to add to the game) Thanks for playing ^^ @yami-no-tenshi-8 If it is possible, that would be great ! I'll have to look into that though, it would indeed be much easier if I can let the player change the controls to his/her will. Thanks for your suggestion, it is greatly appreciated :) !
@rargrave Thank you I'm glad you had some good time. I really enjoyed making it ^^
I indeed think there could be an improvement on the difficulty. Initially there was supposed to be other bonuses to make the game easier, but I didn't have the time to put them in sadly
As for the tool used, I used Unity, Photofiltre for the graphics, sfxr for the sound effects ( http://www.drpetter.se/project_sfxr.html )
@jlv Thanks for your review ! If I make a post-jam version I'll probably add the content I did not have the time to implement, and think about a way to improve the aiming. The comments I received here helped me a lot figuring out what problems my game had, and if I post-jam version there is, I'll make sure to work on these issues ^^
@rusty-bailey Thank you for your review I tried to work specifically on the controls on the Post-jam version ^^
@del-nordlund Thanks for playing and leaving a comment ! I tried to implement keyboard/mouse controls (and control mapping) in the post-jam version :)
@thegunmaster Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment even though you had trouble playing. The post-jam version should offer the possibility to remap the controls, maybe that'll help ?
Right now the Post-Jam version is only available on deskop, when the jam ends, I'll post the browser version too.
Thank you everyone for your comments and ratings, it has been a really pleasing experience, there could be some new version of the game in the future^^
I'm looking forward for the next Ludum Dare, and I hope to see more of your games then too :D
Hey @wendel-scardua Actually I just came out with the title at the end of the jam, I wanted something to represent the fact that there are colors and that the area is shrinking, when "ChromeStuck" came to my mind I just thought "It has both ideas and sounds like 'Homestuck' lol... that's good enough" x) So I didn't intend to make a reference before finding the name, but I found it amusing that it resembled, so I let it this way ^^
@wendel-scardua Sweet :D I'm looking forward to this ^^
It was very fun to play ! I liked how the screen turns redder and darker the closer to death you are ! A very fun entry :)
The visual were very good, the music was good and totally adapted :)
Love the artstyle ! Killing your companion to cast spells fits right into the theme (althouth it's a bit cruel xD)
It was fun, I especially liked controlling a lot of spaceships at the same time !
Looking for the codes to open the doors while trying not to be detected added to the pressure
I liked how different guns are played differently, especially the laser, it was the one I had the most fun with ^^
99 may be a bit long (or at least it would be better to be able to skip the animations), but the concept is pretty good ! I liked how the theme is not only a mechanic but also justified by the story Maybe a little explanation could help, I did not understand the difference between lasers and torpedos for example Keep it up !
It completly distinguish itself from other games, the idea is very original and the multiplayer aspect is cool too I love the fact that you added a chat !
The last level was pretty hard ! I liked it ^^ It was funny and challenging A very good entry :)
Te music and the particule effects were good and well used !
Impressive ! The graphics and in game UI (when building tower) was on point ! And the atmosphere was tense ^^ I really liked this entry
Hey great game ! I liked how you used the theme, and the characters coming for your money are hilarious (I didn't undestand they could kill you until the Thanks for playing level though x) )! I got stuck at a point on my first run when I accidently dropped my coins but overall it was tons of fun. oops I missed.png The graphics were pretty cute too ^^
The art looks stunning ! Maybe it would be even better if you added sound effects when attacking and receiving damage and maybe also visual feedback (blinking for example) Good work !
A RTS in a game jam ? I see you like challenges ^^ With the instruction I managed to protect the organs well enough and it was fun, but I did not understand what the blood pressure was exactly ? Is it game over it it goes below 0 ? (in that case, I actually lost xD)
@shaolin-dave Hey, the idea is that you exchange your lifetime (the blood you have left) for abilities (knife, dash and protection) I agree that the camera should probably be a bit zoomed out (it is in the boss level and it feels more natural in my opinion) Thanks for your feedback ! Also I have some sound effects, did it not work for you (or maybe I did not understand what you meant) ?
@kultisti Thanks a lot, the feedbacks really help ! :) @donitz Thanks, I agree, I thought so too but I didn't have the time to do it (I would've needed to advance the music to keep the boss and the music synced and while it probably is possible, I did not have the time to dig into this sadly :( ) I would definitely work on that in the case of a future version ! Thanks a lot for your feedback !
@jofersgames You have to find the castle before your life is depleted. You exchange your life for powerups, but it's a doubled-edged, as it uses your lifetime. To get your life back you must aspire the blood of slimes :)
@mrstari Thanks a lot ! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
@team-on Make sure to kill slimes and take their blood every time you cross them ^^ If you choose the path on the right, Make sure to dash as much as you can, if you choose the one on the left, using protection and killing every slimes gets you through without trouble.
Just make sure not to turn circle when arrived at the top (the castle is right at the top, after the 2 paths collide) :) The level 4 (the green one) is pretty hard though (it's sort of a labyrinth) The boss level is not too easy, but I'd say the level 4 is even harder (In terms of difficulty I'd say (1<2<3 Maybe getting the camera further from the player would help (I'd definitely do that if I make a post-jam version), but in case, you can choose the level in the menu to directly play a certain level in you struggle too much in one Thanks for playing and thanks for the feedback :)
@kritz haha thanks for the laughter !
It's important not to overlook good design decisions when they are made ^^
See you around in the next jam !
Cute artstyle (love the parallax scrolling on the background) and funny dialog
That was fun !
Good concept, it would be good to have the possible interactions be shown on screen like "A to leavehere" to explain what actions we can do at a given time. Maybe having more puzzles could be good too, although it is always difficult in the time of a game jam ^^ Keep it up !
The art was neat ! A good VN is always good from time too time :)
I remembered the general rules about blackjack (not go beyond 21...) ut I had to look up a few specifics (the values of the jack, the queen the king and the ace) I has forgotten, it would be good to remind you of this in game ^^ Besides this, it worked nicely and adapted pretty well to the theme :)
Very beautiful and calming game ! Bonus for the wholesome message :)
Cool game ! I love the interpretation of the theme and the visual effects with the coins and bills! The fact that you took time to do some voice acting adds a lot
[spoiler] The fact that it is easy to win makes it so that losing is a choice and rewards the player with the good ending which is another thing I liked ! Good job :) [/spoiler]
Funny game, and the music fits incredibly well ! x) Couldn't escape the mutiny though :(
I was a lot of fun playing this ! The fact that your camera moves dynamically with the mouse helps focus on what you're targetting and adds to the overall tension of the game. The fact that the game pauses when out of focus is a good idea for action games like this<
What I think could be worked on: I would add a score constantly showing up to make clear that it is an arcade-style game (and that there is no end). It felt a bit too easy and I let myself die after reaching lvl 11 (I wasn't sure whether there was an end or not, so I waited for when I finished lvl 10) Stop the player from going out of the field (since it's square, just making sure the x and y value stay within a certain range should be enough).
These are just details though, the game felt polished and felt very nice to play !
A dark simple way to use the theme xD It suits the phone :iphone: platform perfectly :D
It's amazing that you used a custom engine for the jam ! It was a bit difficult (the humans kept getting back their stuff) but still enjoyable :)
It's actually really fun ! Trying to figure out how to make all the peaces fit together to automate the processes can be tricky sometimes but it was really interesting :) Also, that was a good idea to not make the end portal end the game directly, in case we still wanted to have fun with what we created before ^^
I loved it ! That was so fun seeing and hearing the people and animals singing along in the background !
Truly a unique entry and an original interpretation of the theme !
I really loved it ! It's a calm refreshing game and the graphics are really cute ^^ Plus, that's a very original take on the theme :)
It sure was unique x) I loved the meta-humor and how you made the interactions with the code, it was fun !
The music and aesthetic fit well with one another and it was pretty funny ! ^^ That's an original use of the theme as instead of trying to get away from the state of having nothing, you try to get back to it
I loved it, keep it up !
Simple yet effective ^^ I liked the artstyle and the music fits very well with the theme :)
The audio contributed pretty well to the atmosphere and it was really nice to have checkpoints regularly. I didn't understand I could go back to find the arms the first time because I didn't see the other platform (I only checked again after I saw the other robot in your screenshot x) ). Also I got stuck under a vertical moving platform once :/ Other than that, I had fun ^^
It's 4am, I could be doing a lot of things, and among those things I'm racing a rabbit who can go through walls while being watched by Peter Griffin; Was it worth it ? Totally! It was probably the funniest game I played on this jam Good job ^^
@maimai It worked :) It was fun, I liked the cute aesthetic and the game was not too long. A bug I noticed is if you get the souls AND die (if you shoot right before dying and get te last soul) then the souls are added to your shelves but you have to do the level again, nothing that breaks the game or stops the progression but I thought I'd let you know ^^ Thanks for the game !
Very cute game ^^ I liked that you could pet the racoons and cats :) I went until I got the swimsuit and it was fun being able to freely swim where you died several times previously x)
It's always good to have some narrative games for a game jam ^^ and I like the minimalist approach :)
**spoiler** Something I would do a little different is varying the buttons for doing a "good" or a "bad" actions, because you quickly realise that one means good and the other one means evil (roughly) and that can (in my subjective opinion) affect the player's engagement because they don't have any effort to do to figure out what choice to make according to the way they want to play - Then again, maybe making it clear for the player is what's intended, so I guess that depends on your approach ^^
It's been a pleasure to play it regardless !
It was great ! I liked the aesthetic and the mechanics of choices giving you different powers ! Were you inspired by the tale of "Blue Beard" ?
@tommyflower Thanks for playing !
By arbitrary do you mean that there was no logic to why a certain choice was at the right and another at the left or do you mean that the player did not have enough information to make a decision (or something else ?)? And thanks for the feedback, that really helps (it's my first time making a visual novel so I still have a lot to learn) !
@tommyflower I think it might be a resolution problem, but when there were choices to be made, they should be written at the bottom of the screen when you tilt a card in one direction or another. When nothing is written, it means that there is no choice to be made (it's just swipe to continue). I couldn't test my game on devices with different resolutions other than my desktop and phone. If I understood well, you didn't see these choices ? (bottom right corner on the screenshot): choices.png
And I think the text should also be bigger though, that should definitlely change in a post-jam version ^^
@tommyflower That is definitely something to consider for the post-jam version ! I think putting the choices onto the card like Reigns does could be another solution. Either way, that's definitely an issue to fix, thanks for bringing my attention to it :)
@ioleoso Thank you ! I took inspiration from games such as Reigns and Lapse (Android) which uses these kind of mechanics and I thought it could also be used for visual novels. @paulo-brunassi Thanks a lot :)
@porocyonak My pleasure ^^ @itsnotagoodtime Haha I'm glad it made you laugh :) @tohubohu The life bar was supposed to matter but in the end, I didn't have time to make use of it :/ Thanks for taking the time to play twice ! ^^
@u-tsang-clan Yup, I did forget to reset it and when I realised it was too late x) (though, it is not used in current state of the game, so it shouldn't bother for one's playthrough ^^)
@sirred I'm glad it did make you laugh, that's really nice to hear ^^ @ben-ash Thanks a lot ! :D
@xarras Thanks a lot for your reaction !
I will at least proof-read what is already existing and improve the UI for a post-jam version (bigger texts for the choices in particular). As for the rest of the story I can't really guarantee anything :/ (although I really hope I do find the time to continue ^^)
@hellper Indeed I used photofiltre to make this :) Thanks a lot !
@someone I definitely understood that the UI for the options should be modified to be more obvious and visible and I'll correct this in a post-jam version ! Thanks for your feedback !
@samh Haha thank you, I wish I had had the time to make more content ^^' I'm glad you liked the sound effects though ! :)
@xotsu Thanks a lot ^^
@smitto I just looked them up and it looks like they could make for an interesting read one day, thanks for mentioning it ^^ As for the porcupine, let's just pretend that was on purpose 😇
The creepy atmosphere works pretty well and the audio and graphics complements each other to give this mysterious and eerie ambience. I don't know if it's just for me but the window was pretty small, it could be even better if it could be bigger.
One of the most unique entries I saw so far !
@jam373 Oh it works indeed ! Good job once again, it's even scarier now x)
Hilarious and fun ! That's an original way of using the theme and it works quite fine. The level was pretty hard, it took me a lot of try to pass it (and not with the best of scores x) ) but in the end, that was satisfying !
That was fun :) Will the arcade mode be implemented later or did I miss what I was supposed to do ? Nice artstyle and great dialogues btw ^^
@itsnotagoodtime I get it now, it's because I did not put ony canon on my ship (only protections) so it sank instantly xD It's pretty fun actually !
I loved the aesthetic ^^ Congrats on your first (of many hopefully) game jam ! :)
Loved the artstyle and the overall aesthetic, it was very cute, and the mechanic of going back and forth between shops hoping that the item you bought had gained value was surprisingly fun ^^
I liked the meme humor, the phases where you had to both answer questions and avoid the bullets were fun :)
@niborious I don't think there is any "impossible to answer question", it's just that the answer to these seemingly impossible questions is not the entire demonstration of the theorems and stuff ^^ (there is no actual question in these ""questions"" when you think about it :)
The last part with the spikes is pretty hard, I would've put another checkpoint somewhere around the wings and the crown. It was pretty fun though, after multiple tries, I finally reached the crown and that was satisfying ^^ Especially for a first entry, that's pretty good, keep it up !
Impressive work for a game made in 3 days :) It was very atomospheric and the art and audio help sell the short story ^^ It's a detail but I felt like the ending was a bit brutal (when you are cut by the credits). Maybe you could just make a button to get to the end and the credits instead of cutting to the credits right when you press the image, or at least write a little text to explain that it is the end (just a small detail, but I had to redo the game to make sure of what was in the image at the end x) )
Thanks for the game !
It was a fun experience As you noticed becomes a bit easy passed a certain wave because you have tons of ducks and candies, but the gameplay was solid. The audio was good and helped keep the tension high and the graphics were cute ^^
The gameplay is simple but works pretty well. It fits the theme right. I liked that there was a specific message for each game over, some of which were funny :) Maybe I would make the description of the action to be shown above the yellow circle, that way we don't have to glance at the bottom right corner to see what we the action is. Keep up the good work !
It was a fun and well polished game ^^ The aesthetic is consistent and the mechanic is simple and easy to grasp thanks to the easy first few levels and the animation of fluid getting into the robot :)
A really funny entry :) I loved the voiceover of the grandma and the little secrets hidden everywhere. It look me a lot of tries to get through everything but the humor motivates you to continue ^^
I love the concept ^^ It was pretty fun and the variety of music was impressive ! There also a nice progression as you have to gradually take care of more and more guests. Nice work !
Great art and audio, it actually feels like a finished game (well, a poorly translated one, but still finished) ^^ I don't have a lot of remarks since it's a very good entry already, but maybe there should be some dialogs that pop at some moments during the level (that don't interrupt the gameplay)to indicate that all the keys were found, or that one character is down for example, to further immerse the player
Impressive work !
It was a fun little game. I almost exclusively used the pickaxe so maybe it could use more enemies, but otherwise, it was a fun experience ^^
Impressive work for a jam ! I really liked the audio and the overall atmosphere I saw the platforms in the lava and the guy who invokes robots two or three times but then when I went though the door I got in outerspace :/
Apart from that little glitch it was very good experience :)
@tolmera ~~I thought I tried the bug fixed HTML version but now I tried it again and can't reproduce the bug, so maybe I accidentally tried the non-bugfixed version :/ Sorry I can't be more helpful x)~~
Edit: It happened again and I definitely was on the postjam version. I think it may happen when you rush to the door and spam f, though I'm not entirely sure. It was again after the room with the guy that spawn robots
It was a nice puzzle game and I especially liked the fact that the story-telling was made entirely with the visuals and sounds.
I was a fun experience :)
It was fun, I loved the esthetic. An idea to improve it even further would be implementing some kind of leaderboard. There are even some easy tools to do an online leaderboard with Unity like [this one](https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/tools/network/dreamlo-com-free-instant-leaderboards-and-promocode-system-3862) (I used it once and thought it was pretty neat :) ) It was a very good entry overall in my opinion ^^
It was a lot of fun Maybe the life circle should start depleting in front of the camera instead of on the other side, at my first run I did not understand where I was supposed to see my hp.
Other than that, I liked the geometric aesthetic and it was tense and fast paced, well done !
I liked the graphics and the concept in general. The map was a bit long so I only completed it with the first character and it took me a while x) I started with the second character (just the first fight) and I think it would be cool if each character had specific cards (I only started the first fight but I didn't see any new card), though I understand it was difficult in a jam's time.
It was a very good entry overall in my opinion
It was a fun short game, it felt really good to control ^^ Instead of a victory screen that takes all the screen I would've displayed a message on part of the screen (so as to not cut the action so abruptly), but that's a detail It was funny how the music was accelerated between each level (and it keeps accelerating if you do them again, which may be a feature I dunno x) )
It took me a while to finish (mainly because I didn't understand you could glide at first), but it was pretty fun ^^
I think there should be an animation for when the button is pressed and maybe a color code / a line linking each button to the door is opens. I liked the take on the theme and the character animation (the naruto-running was on point x) ). Good job !
It was fun to play, I liked the mechanic of having to explode stuff before going so that they don't explode on you and it kept the tension high for most of the game.
--Spoiler ahead--
The reaper surprised me and I was never too sure they would not start pursuing me and the ending was unexpected ^^ Maybe I would've written "The end" or something on the truck just to make sure everyone knows it's the furthest you can go and there is no way to avoid it (unless I'm wrong), but that's just a thought (it did not really bother me particularly)
It has a kind of micro-machine vibe to it which I absolutely loved The whole setup is funny - while a little distrurbing - and the fact that you took time to do some cutscenes with some voice acting was the cherry on top ^^ Maybe more races in different environment and turns instead of a straight road would be cool in a hypothetical post-jam version
Loved the artsyle and the animations !
Saying it's impressive would be an understatement, it's so fleshed out and polished for a jam game, that's an excellent submission !
@beats :face_palm: Thanks for notifying me I completely forgot indeed x)
@jordan-kelly Thanks ^^ The madness at the end is totally what I was going for :D
@thebugger I'm very glad you had fun playing it ! Indeed the splash image went for a more "living" atmosphere when the sprites in the game seem more mechanic (like tanks). I was also thinking about adding some "personality" to the players sprites in game and adding a reference to the ghosts in the splashscreen, but there is only so much I could do in the jam time x) Thanks for the feedback !
@pedrocoden Thanks I'm glad you liked it !
@davidwesst I did not know of the game so I looked it up on youtube and it seems fun, thanks ^^
@kohcepba Thanks, that's really nice to hear ^^ I'm actually working on a post-jam version now. Bots are definitely an idea worth exploring :)
@deepsealychee Thanks, I'm actually working on a post-jam version, bots are definitely something I'm considering
@miklou I'm glad you liked it ^^
@cargamoni Thanks, I did rate yours :)
@sli Thanks, I'll try exploring the bot idea for a post-jam version !
@gamescodedogs A tutorial is definitely something I'll add in a post-jam version ! (The jump allows you to avoid lasers)
@tolmera Hey, sadly I don't have the jam version anymore. I've been working to improve the game since the jam version release (right now I'm trying to add some bots) so if I tried to make an HTML version it would not be representative of what the game was at the time (maybe if I thought about it earlier and used git to keep track of the evolution of the project I could've :/ )
Also the improved version of the game is not in a playable state right now but I'm working on it ^^'
@tolmera I uploaded an HTML version of the current state of the Post-Jam version, in case you'd be interested
Took me a couple tries to get the hand of it but in the end I could make the concert a success x) I liked how the more you advance, the more instruments you get you get, that's a cool way to give a progression feedback to the player ^^ Also thanks again for reminding me to put the link to my game :)
It was fun, I loved how some items actually worked (like the potion actually gave you some random effects) which added to the gameplay. If you intend to make a post-jam version, I think something that would be cool would be if every item had some sort of effect for example the switch would tone down the lights, you could buy something with the coins (which would also be an action)...
Good job on this entry !
As others said, the graphics and the musics were on point, but the gameplay does not feel so good (imo). I don't know if the fact that you don't grab the object every time is voluntary or not, but it makes it feel frustrating, while the music and the graphics have a relaxing effect and it seems a bit contradictory :/
That's too bad that you opted out of graphics because graphics and audios are definitely the strong points of the game ! Keep it up :)
I had some fun playing it, I agree with other people who said random events and audio could make it even better. Maybe the background could change according to the time of the day (even if it's just a solid color).
Thanks for the game !
I loved the main mechanic of trying to look for clue for the identity of who we must kill This mystery vibe was very pleasant. The fact that there was several musics according to the time/location was also something I found impressive ^^
I think there is a minor glitch where if you are touched under 4/5 seconds, the timer will go negative and you can still win (that's a minor detail, but I thought I should let you know ^^)
Other than that, the audio worked pretty well with the atmosphere and it was cool to see some 3D animations !
That was a fun take on the theme and I like the implementation. The film grain went very well with the simulation part ^^
The audio was on point too !
Maybe I would bend the character a bit when turning so that it would feel more like turning with skis, but that's just a minor thing. It was a excellent entry imo
It was an interesting take on the theme, linking it to actual day to day routine ^^
Maybe I would add some comments in addition to whether the day was good or not (like "The day was bad, you were starving by 11 am and there was no more coffee in the machine" or "*** was disgusted when they smelled that you didn't take a shower, you noticed they noticed, the embarassment was unbearable"), just little things that would make it feel more than just a good/bad bar and so that it would be linked to the mechanics of the morning.
I had fun playing it :)
Nice work for a first jam :)
I think some levels were a bit long, so it made kind of frustrating having to restart from the beginning every time, they could use some checkpoints in my opinion.
Other than that, I liked the pixel art animations, keep it up ^^
A really good entry in my opinion. I really liked how instruments came on top of each others, the fact that the loops vibrated with the song and the particles in the background, it made it feel really olished !
Also, the music is impressive for a jam.
If you want more people to rate you you can rate other people's games too (broadly speaking, the more games you rate, the more you'll be featured and the more people will rate your game)
Nice little platformer. I feel like maybe the theme use was not so obvious (I get that you are looping when you die but that's the case in most games already).
Maybe with a little more time you could've made a level that actually looped on itself with keys (or other objects) that unlock some things in a given order (so you'll have to do the level several times to unlock everything and finish it).
I liked the audio, very good job on that one.
Keep it up !
Cool little experience ^^
There is a little bug if you try to continue up instead of jumping when on the desk (it made me restart from the beginning twice):
Error
map.lua:15: attempt to index a nil value
Traceback
map.lua:15: in function 'isWalkableAt' main.lua:222: in function
Just a little glitch, but I thought you should know :)
Impressive game, everything felt very polished ! probably the best I've played in this jam so far ^^
Hey, I found that your idea was promising In the case you want to continue, it reminded me a little of a programming game that I played in the golden era of flash (which will be tragically ended on December 31st, which is sad but not the point) that was named [Lightbot](https://www.minigames.com/games/lightbot_2) I thought you might want to check it out and take some inspiration from some of the ideas of the game :)
I loved the little animals, they were simple yet cute. The bubble effect was nice and the title screen was good (better than just a still image, and the player is immediately immersed in water), although I would change the color of some of the texts to make it pop a little more from the background. If you are going for a relaxed atmosphere I would use a slower melody (then again I'm no music expert at all, so that's just my two cents). Keep it up :)
It was simple but fun ^^ There is an [free asset](https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/tools/network/dreamlo-com-free-instant-leaderboards-and-promocode-system-3862) that allows you to have online leaderboard (I think if you intend to do some other score-based games, especially for game-jams, it could be useful). I used it not so long ago and it still worked at the time, hopefully it still does ^^
