It's ironic how the description says it's a broken platformer but this is actually one of the most fun games I've played in the jam. It's challenging and interesting how everything that looks like a bug (like those spikes only hurting you when you enter their collider area) just seems to fit as a feature.
Thanks @jegus9 !
Well done, the levels were enjoyable to run through and were also quite challenging.
Thank you @pyjamaboy
Great games levels are fun and controls are good too good job =)
Thanks @pamoy
Decent game. good luck
good controls and great levels! But I couldn't figure out how to exit the How to play menu
I think the most important part to improve here is user feedback. It's difficult to understand that the hearts are a currency you need to use to go through spikes, for instance. Essentially your hearts are nothing but keys. You should look for ways to clarify this, or, even better, alter the design so that they are keys and they are used as keys. For instance, you could use the heart manually to become armoured so you can take a hit. Or you could use the sphere object to become transparent so you can pass THROUGH the spikes. Other that this, I think this type of game has been done ad nauseam.
Thank you @mike-inprinciple
i quite like this. Straight off the bat some of the jumps are pretty unforgiving but once you get the hang of it it's ok. My only issue is having enter to enter doors etc. It should have been left shift or something
Really solid entry here! The controls were very responsive and I loved the simplistic silhouette art style. Also, very nice implementation of the wall jump. Simple, but really fun to play. Good job!
that ramp up from level 1 to level 2, wow! haha. there was an issue i ran into on level 3 where the checkpoint i got kept flinging me into spikes, but great game, very ambitious and fun to play
Thanks alot @pixelformedstudios
well put together, smooth to play and pretty intuitive. I enjoyed it, it's a good entry
Awesome <3
The level design is very good. I really enjoyed playing this game.
Quite a challenging game you made :v:
This is a really fun game! I got lost on level 3, and when I died shortly thereafter, it never respawned me. But the game was really addicting, and super ambitious for a 72 hour project!
Nice game, felt quite good regarding controls like super meat boy. No sound is a bummer, and it is brutally hard. But i am also just bad at platformers. Great job!
It was a pleasant experience, the boss took some time, but it was original ^^ the graphics were simple but looked pretty well together (and I liked the dash effect when you move :)
Nice entry, I really love the overall mode and the graphics style. Regarding gameplay, it's easy to control the game, and quite challenging!
You should continue developing it into a more complete game!
It feels like the move/death/respawn loop is a bit too slow for a game that's based around heavy trial/error. I also find hearts as a damage boost mechanic to be a bit tricky, as it leaves a lot of ambiguity on how to approach the level. I found myself taking a lot of "leaps of faith" into spikes and not being sure if I made the right choice or not.
It was neat seeing experimentation down this route though, and it might be entirely solvable with level design and user messaging.
Thanks everyone @flashviper Try the windows version.maybe its because in html you cant save
Great level design!
Wow! Player movement is super smooth and the levels are great. It would be even better if the player wans't just a cube though! I did have a glitch though were my spawn point was on top of a spike and I couldn't get out of it, but that is easily fixed by resetting the level. Great responsive game, well done.
The game feel is good and the game is challenging.
Awesome game! I really liked the placements of the auto save/respawn points.
Challenging, makes you think. Great game, love the art style. I recommend giving this a go!
Nice entry here!
As some others said, it's a bit hard to understand you need to go to the spikes to continue the game but once learned, it's pretty fun!
For the boss I did not understand at first how to not get hurt. Perhaps a blink effect on the boss attack box when it stomps would help. :)
Good job
The puzzles were really challenging. It's a lot of fun to try and scale the walls with the double jump. This type of game definitely needs some music.
Interesting!
Level design is pretty good. Level 2 becomes surprisingly difficult immediately after level 1. The ramping up is a bit weird. Overall i had fun though...always loved the minimalistic games.
Platformer shouldn't have pit with instant death that the player can only prevent after trial and error. In level two, the problem was severe and having a heart made it worst. Having an extra life and jumping into a deadly pit is a torture. Instant death and trail and error pit make players felt cheated, but at worst, combined it with slow death wasted player's time.
Nicely polished though sound effects and music was missing. You need to work on those insufferable blind jumps of doom. The 5 levels available were pretty large so good job on getting so much content out there. The movement was pretty fun especially the super tight walljumping. The RAM mechanic is a novel concept but not integrated enough into levels, I just forgot about it at one point. It's a still a really good minimalistic platformer!
I would also say that this game feels very polished. Movement is smooth, level design is smart and graphics just work really well for this game. Great job!
Solid platformer. There was a platform in section 2, which was quite tough for me to get to though. The onion-skinning effect is cool too.
In game menu, I really love it! But I cant reach door *About us*). Graphic cool, especially onion effect. Interesting interpretation of the theme.
Are you both programmers? You use shapes for drawing or all graphic is sprites?
@team-on thanks alot Well you can go to about us if you look deeply in menu And we are both programmers thats why graphics are simplistic🤣 My friend tried to make official charecters but our lak of photoshop stopped him but i putted a easter egg for him Did you found it?
Ye-ye, Now i kwon how to reach *about us*, pretty smart! Which level contain easter egg? Or this is Mr.?
@team-on Im not supposed to say alot But here, have some math (((4-1)×89-25)×(294.949×183.283)×0)+"3" Cant do it more obvios than that
Love the minimalism of the game design, very very pleasing to play. I love the check points too, definitely helps for a game jam entry, I should have had some check points in my game as well. I really like the game, there is nothing to complain, I even want to ask what is the solution for your check points haha. But then I found this thing, not exactly a bug bug but it kinda looks like: I get restored to a check point with an initial speed. This suggests that you used a trigger box that save player status and restore that, probably using scriptable object? (in case youre using unity, idk). Well Im just guessing now LOL

Anyhow, I do have a comment about the color of the door, the gradient color doesnt look like they belong there, maybe something pure color would work better? Just my 2 cents.
And the reason i did that was i wasnt gonna bore the player with a basic piece of text and a picture, the ones who have the purest of heart can only pass the quest to enter the room!
Really well-made game. Loved the amount of polishness put into it :)
Despite some rendering glitches the graphics are fine. Gameplay also felt relatively smooth and the simplicity of the wall jump made the game feel fluid. That said, I think the game falls short on the level design. Still, with the time constraint of a game jam that is understandable. Overall fine job.
Nice game! The animations are really nice and the overall design of the levels are well thought out. The controls were smooth and I really enjoyed playing this!
Liked this game a lot was simple and easy to play but also fun. I like the simplistic style of the art it is very nice I would of liked the trail from the character to be just a slightly different shade but I think that is just my own personal preference. I did get the bug where I constantly spawned onto spikes which meant I had to restart the level but other than that I had no problems and liked the game. Well done guys
A fun game, really nice responsive controls and a nice visual style. Didn't really get how the ram space worked with the gameplay.
Controls are great, there's also decent challenge. But checkpoints are kind of broken - sometimes they send you into an infinite death loop cause you're spawned right nexto to spikes with the initial speed)
Nice entry! Very minimalistic but a lot of fun! It would've been nice if the jump button was (also) somewhere else on the keyboard because my fingers get really cramped using the arrow keys for all the movement. Space would've been fine. Overall a very nice game!
Hey! Feedback coming from www.twitch.tv/arjendesign just now! - The red trail looks really nice! - Tutorial is a bit busy, too much information at once. Maybe simplify? - No sound? - Idea of hearts, speeding up and shields are pretty cool! - Nice of you to be generous with checkpoints ;)
This game is both intresting and cool. My only complaints is that you definately should add some bgm and more info on how to use both hears and shields correctly. Also it should be clearer how to beat the boss, it took me several minutes of jumping around before i realized what to do. Also there is a glitch with the spikes showing a white line along the top while you are jumping
I liked the controls and the effects(blur and death). Needs sound. Use http://sfbgames.com/chiptone or BFXR to create simple sounds. Adds so much to a game. Nice work!
Thank you for sharing your game with me. I played it on my stream tonight at https://www.twitch.tv/saoigames
I have rated your game, but all of my feedback was captured in the stream.
You can hear my comments in the archive at https://www.twitch.tv/videos/298728142
Thanks @saoi-games for playing my game on a stream!i hope your audience wasnt bored as much as i think they are
@crafty-mine I am confused by your statement, can you clarify.
Were you able to watch the stream? I saw you had another post where you needed streamers to export to Youtube so you can watch reactions.
@saoi-games i fixed my twitch issue.im watching on the website
I like the way it looked with the cube leaving a trace. However I didn't really understand the rules of the game, sometimes you could just walk on the spikes. I also didn't really see the theme here except the bar with ram space but it wasn't clear how it interacted with the game. Maybe because I only played the first few levels
I managed to win! I think! But I thought I had lost at first. This was a fun little puzzle that tied in with the theme in a surprising way at the end.
The levels had some quite clever little tricks which made me feel smart for figuring them out. But the also felt a little bit scripted. Like, if there was a reset to the start of the level when you died, you'd have to slow down and think a little more about the puzzles. But I liked playing it and was glad to win! Just needs some retro sound or glitch-hop or something to accompany.
PS The death animation was great.
Pretty good game.
The controls are difficult in general and it's a very difficult game. The combination of level design and controls made it a bit frustrating to progress.
It would be better if there were more signals to the player showing which way to go in some of the larger levels. Especially since you can't see where there are spikes on the ground in some cases.
If you could wall-jump more than once that would be good.
There seems to be a problem with the instructions page that you can't go back to the menu? I had to reset the game.
Good effort overall. I think the game works, but it's a bit confusing to get into, I wasn't sure how to play properly for a while.
Pretty cool game! Took me a while to figure out how it works - I thought it's super buggy at first, and it took me some time to realize that a lot of the bugs I saw were actually part of the way it works :)
My only two complaints: 1) Using right mouse button to see how much ram is needed is really un-intuitive since the mouse is not used for anything else in the game. 2) The "how to play" button when you're in the middle of the level takes you out of the level which was a bit annoying
Other than that, cool entry! :)
Great platformer game! Once I understood how to play it was very fun to browse the different levels and discover new things in some places! I think with some additional visual feedback the player can better understand the usefulness of each element of the game! Great job! :)
By the way please feel free to leave us some feedbacks on our game!
Simplistic but very cool!
well done
Hey here come bugs list: - After loosing a heart, I can freely travel between spikes as long as I dont touch them from above, seems to be an edge collider issue - Sometimes I cant double jump (recreate: beginning of level 3) - The boss HP in the last level is decreased under 0, and it flickers every second or so. Quick fix would be clamping the HP to >= 0 - Graphics: sometimes spikes have a tiny white border, quite distracting
That's all I have for the bugs.
thanks @nam-nguyen
Quite enjoyable, but it's a shame there's only a few levels. The final boss fight was rather boring. Also the game would be much more enjoyable if it had some audio. Overall, it's not bad, but a bit underwhelming.
Quite nice. Good game. Too bad there isn't any audio tho.
somehow I got into endless die-loop, and couldnt get out of it. It restarted in such place where it immediately got killed.
A lot like my entry, yours could use some sound :)
pretty hard game! and enjoyable too! the levels were well-designed. never thought that i would be able to finish the first level lol! i also got caught in that endless death-respawn loop. overall, great game!
I enjoyed the game, wish there was some audio though. The level design was clearly done with some care about making it challenging, which I enjoyed.
You've got a really good start to a nice platformer here! Well Done! Nice Work being able to supply so many levels! Great Job :D
@crafty-mine I love platformers! I made one for LD42, as well. In some ways, yours is more forgiving than mine, in some ways, not. I do like how you give the player a "free hit" with the half-heart icon, and allow them to start off roughly where they died. The gameplay reminds me a bit of "Celeste." Nice level/puzzle designs and the jump and wall jump feel good. Could use some graphics updates and sound but I'm sure you know that already. Nice job! Good start for a 2D platformer/puzzler.
I really enjoyed playing this game, it's gameplay is very fluid and the levels are well designed. I'm not sure if the second level has some kind of bug or I'm too bad playing because I couldn't beat it. And I really liked the level 3 boss, it was unexpected and cool, maybe the fight is quite long having to do the same movements repeteadly but doesn't mind. Keep on it!! Very good game!
This felt like a rather complete game for a LDJAM title, well done! Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 2:18 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/299401837
Nice game!
Neat platformer! I included it in my compilation video series of the Ludum Dare 42 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/VePoszPJyYA
