This says it all. This is the greatest game of all time! The kind of game I always wanted to make. Doesn't really matter if you have a real cauldron as long as you can stick a post-it on your toaster to make one. btw I was a bit afraid to touch a toaster by the key stucked in it! Need to come back a play again and again. One of my favourites so far!

envy-softworks 2019-10-08 15:17

Dave says thank you. He is very loyal to his fans.

nachtwitch 2019-10-08 17:13

Love the confidence you have, great game you made

shelvid 2019-10-08 17:20

Took me a WHILE to figure out that F was the interact button, certainly was a moment. I toasted the key over the fire and went through a door that soon would mean my demise, i entered the 2 Rune stone room, all doors locked in on me and i was eternally damned within the greatest game in the world. 10/10 The Greatest Game in the World

wolfrug 2019-10-08 17:41

I'm going to have to assume that last error message was intentional? :-D Very Stanley Parable all of this, fun stuff. The "color puzzle" was actually quite funny, well done! To others playing, y'all need sound on to appreciate this, fyi.

Well done ;)

envy-softworks 2019-10-08 21:17

Dave thanks you for appreciating his genius. There are no errors. Everything works as intended.

atraxgames 2019-10-09 12:36

Best game ever, i will rate it 5/7. A couple of hints for players: play with sound on and press F to pay respect to the props.

dinorex 2019-10-09 13:12

One word - amazing! Something like Stanley Parable, but with nice graphic. SHARK, WTF!!) Was it intended that you running without run and jumping without jump?) Diffenetly Owerall - 5 stars! I'm yor fan)

envy-softworks 2019-10-09 14:05

@atraxgames and @shelvid Dave is very thankful for your advice to new players. He just wants to know why did you find it hard to figure out that F is the interact button. Does the UI not remind you of this fact ALL the time?

zanzavar 2019-10-09 16:01

Title should be Greatest Game in the Universe. Other than that 5/5, awesome work!

envy-softworks 2019-10-09 16:10

@zanzavar Dave says this is a very valid point. Maybe he consider this for the sequel.

shelvid 2019-10-09 16:33

@envy-softworks There were supposed to be things written on UI? On my side there was nothing on UI except for when i touched runes, i got some Debug popups :)

envy-softworks 2019-10-09 16:34

@shelvid Dave asks for your screen resolution, if you'd be so kind.

shelvid 2019-10-09 16:43

@envy-softworks Tell dave that i'm a 4:3 1280x1024 peasant

envy-softworks 2019-10-09 16:46

@shelvid He said and I quote "Then it's his damn fault for not playing the game in a proper rig!". We do not condone this sentiment but were instructed to pass it on to you. Thank you for understanding.

shelvid 2019-10-09 19:14

@envy-softworks Alas, i do wish i had 16:9. You guys can also add indicator in center when looking at door :)

envy-softworks 2019-10-09 19:15

@shelvid After some convincing that did not include tears or any sort of violent confrontation we believe that Dave might have fixed this bug. Our QA department is underfunded so we cannot say with certainty.

tc5550 2019-10-09 19:19

I liked the graphics, the sound effects and the beginning, but then when I came to the runes I didn't understand what I was supposed to do

envy-softworks 2019-10-09 19:23

@tc5550 Dave says that the pink text will guide you to the hidden *menir*. He said we make sure you know it's a menir and not a rune! Not sure what that means. He might be drunk.

hare-software 2019-10-09 19:45

I did not always know what to do, but the game did make me laugh a few times and that counts for a lot. The game also looks good, certainly for the amount of time you had. Well done!

doey 2019-10-09 19:46

Blown away by this game, amazing stuff, made me laugh.

aemiliu5 2019-10-10 00:08

Amazing entry! I loved the metagame idea, and being able to change the code was my favourite aspect of it. Well done!

envy-softworks 2019-10-10 12:25

@tc5550 @hare-software Dave conceded that some puzzles may have been hard for "ignorant casuls" so he finetuned them a bit. We suggest you give them another try now. You might enjoy them more! That being said, Dave wanted us to make it clear to you that he "doesn't care".

inferture 2019-10-10 13:38

It sure was unique x) I loved the meta-humor and how you made the interactions with the code, it was fun !

asturk 2019-10-10 14:24

Loved the idea of this game, thats the bugs there was really intencional and works like features sometimes! Was really enjoyable to work out through the game and has a very good sense of humor behind it. Great job!

kuviman 2019-10-10 14:37

wat

pio 2019-10-10 14:49

Very funny game! Mouse movement was weird for me, but besides that it's perfect.

envy-softworks 2019-10-10 16:35

@kuviman Dave says thanks you for streaming the game "like a normal human being with some sense of dignity and not a caveman". We are not sure but he seemed like he enjoyed it.

charitosdev 2019-10-10 16:44

Άριστη δουλειά! Μπράβο σας!

tc5550 2019-10-10 19:00

I completed the game this time and it was really fun, especially the coding part!

erebus 2019-10-11 00:58

Really awesome mechanic of editing the "game code" while playing the game. Very funny concept. Enjoyed playing it. Thanks for bringing it by the stream!

raivk 2019-10-11 09:05

Nice funny game :D Nailed the humour part ! ;) congrats

rodrigo-denubila 2019-10-12 05:08

Really nice game! At first the game called my attention by the graphics, but I was surprised by the gameplay. Good job!

w0lfenstein 2019-10-12 12:45

Interesting game with very good graphics. But it was so hard to play with high sensitivity, you have to make it more playable. Thx for your work! ^^

envy-softworks 2019-10-12 19:32

@w0lfenstein Dave finds this very interesting. He would like to know "How do you even use your computer without proper DPI settings?" On our end, we would really appreciate you informing us about the make and model of your mouse so that we may do something about the problem. Thank you in advance.

kleinzach 2019-10-12 20:26

I am without words, except that it was certainly original and funny.

harksa 2019-10-12 20:27

This was a great game tbh. As soon as I head the default Unity footsteps sounds I was like "Oh, well here they are" and the game going "And here as the same footstep as day 1", I laugthed. Good one really :')

Nice work. The only real "bug" I could find is that when you press shift, it only makes the footsteps go faster but hey, other than that, pretty solid work !

envy-softworks 2019-10-12 21:24

@harksa It's funny how you think this is a real bug. Dave always had trouble understanding why running is needed in games so he decided it would be better to just give the illusion of running through faster footsteps. It was surprisingly harder than just allowing the player to run as Unity intended.

djindegames 2019-10-12 21:33

Really cool entry the concept is nice and pretty innovative. Liked the parts where you had to fix the code. The f input kind of not always work which is a bit frustrating though :/

geckoo1337 2019-10-12 21:39

Funny. Second degree humour. Controls are a little bit awkward, but good enough ++

keithswanger 2019-10-13 00:59

I really enjoyed that experience!

virimine 2019-10-13 15:56

I loved everything about this game. The idea, humor, graphics, execution, details... especially the references! Even the interactivity is done in a very smart way, making it a great example of "breaking the fourth wall". Amazing job Dave! Keep it up! I'd love to play a full version or a sequel of this! Hope Dave names it "The Greatest Game in the World Guide" :')

tricky-fat-cat 2019-10-13 19:09

Development of my LD45 entry in a nutshell.

envy-softworks 2019-10-13 21:10

@artyom-volkov @virimine @keithswanger Thank you kindly! Dave asked us to inform you that he is "being inspired by the great majesty of life." In his one year of game development, he has seen it all.

dreamlogician 2019-10-13 21:32

Love the game description. I hope that Dave has a strong support system in place, and that he's able to work through some of his anger. Wish ya the best, Dave!

envy-softworks 2019-10-13 21:50

@dreamlogician We are doing our best to help him! He appreciates the support!

meta-link 2019-10-14 11:23

A really fun game, I laughed out loud playing it !

Good job

derek-volker 2019-10-14 12:13

It an interesing concept while at the same time it have some clever puzzles. Good job!

envy-softworks 2019-10-14 14:12

@w0lfenstein @djindegames @geckoo1337 We believe your issues should be fixed with the latest patch. We would appreciate you try the game again and tell us if it's better for you. Thank you kindly.

selkkie 2019-10-14 16:11

This was hilarious! Funniest game I've played all jam. My biggest gripe was the character- the wobbling when you walk gave me a bit of motion sickness, and his running was a bit slow for the long corridors sometimes (such as the peanut butter puzzle, I ran back and forth to the camel room a few times before I solved it and the trek was gruelling).

I also would have really liked some subtitles for the narrator- a lot of the times he could be hard to hear or overshadowed by sound effects, and I didn't want to miss a thing he was saying, cos it was all gold.

I especially enjoyed the programming portions, that was really neat, and I would love to see that expanded upon further!

Also, thank you so much for the WebGL version for poor Mac peons like myself!

Great work!

space-wumpus 2019-10-15 17:38

How very odd.

hcursino 2019-10-16 13:41

That's a LOT of good material for a jam! Amazing work all of you! I had a lot of fun, brilliant game.

youngblade 2019-10-16 20:14

"What is this? The Matrix yard sale?" - quote of the day

This game was absolutely hilarious! I was laughing out loud constantly. So much fun! The game itself worked pretty well and any bugs were covered up by the fact that the game within the game was supposed to be sort of buggy.

And that ending - wow! Absolutely brilliant! Your writer(s) were fantastic.

Thank you so much for sharing this with us on stream!

dock-frankenstein 2019-10-17 06:04

Really funny.

asfdfdfd 2019-10-18 22:12

This is literally greatest game. I'm sure. Greatest. Game. GAME.

actual-potato-69 2019-10-20 18:34

I really liked the humour! Great little game and lovely puzzles.Good Job!

neowhoru 2019-10-23 16:46

Really great game - i was amazed :D it has a minimalistic but beatiful design. love it.

good-enough 2019-10-24 14:21

¡Jajaja! ¡Qué chistoso! ¡Me estaba riendo en cualquier dimension no me importa! Me gustó ese enigma de colores, y los mensajes de debug.

¡Very wonderfull game and like more coding!

thomas-bringer 2019-10-24 17:32

Funny metagame :) filled with great ideas! I really liked the way you come back to previously visited rooms, the way you can change the wall's colors via code, and the narrator. Good job :D

cole-and-jordan-studios 2019-10-24 17:35

That was pretty funny. I didn't end up fixing the game myself but it's a really clever idea. More than once I was thoroughly convinced the game was broken and then it turned out to be part of the plot which was funny. Nicely done!

danie 2019-10-24 17:40

The peanut + butter cracked me up!

envy-softworks 2019-10-24 18:34

@danie Dave does not understand why you find that funny. Is that not how everyone makes peanut butter? It has been brilliantly illustrated in at least one old school adventure game!

ulisses 2019-10-24 22:40

That is a good game! I love it!

ryjcio 2019-10-25 00:08

I was stuck at the temple. I couldn't figure out what to do and the way back was blocked. Sad, it was promising :<

humphreysmedia 2019-10-25 15:09

I was left speechless, this game reminds me A LOT of Stanley Parabe, but with a lot more humour in the narration. Only critique is that may tell the player they can use the mouse in the code on the computer as I couldn't quite figure out how to change the code around and possibly run a smidge faster. Other than that, I had a great time! Well done!

jeremy-daffix 2019-10-25 21:46

Nice MMORPG or whatever :D

brokenmirrormedia 2019-10-26 04:54

This game reminded me a lot of A Stanley Parable, I could totally see this being expanded upon into some sort of meta-narrative like that. As it is I found it really fun I would love to see more! I love the "camera on legs" bit, especially since in a lot of games, under the hood, that's all you actually are.

f1krazy 2019-10-26 20:10

This is hysterical. I thought my game was meta but this just blows it out of the water. The commentary throughout was so entertaining, as were the bits where you have to "fix" the game. Brilliant job!

coachsisyphus 2019-10-27 10:53

Perfection. This tacos for you.

romes 2019-10-27 11:23

fantastic humor, i had a lot of fun playing it. didn't like the walking at first but got used to it :) congratulations!

egos 2019-10-27 11:24

really brillant i loved the coding part ;)

philomory 2019-10-28 17:44

This was amazing. The bits where you fix the game really made it, IMO (well that and the narration, of course). I honestly would have loved to have seen a few more of them (or just more joke 'fixes' you could make in the existing ones, like the camel). In any case the comparisons to The Stanley Parable made by other commenters are on point.

Kudos!

dodori 2019-10-29 14:45

The coding part was really funny, especially the small easter eggs with the camel, or changing the wall color. Making a game like this is pretty clever, if you have any bugs, you can just say it was intended, because the game is supposed to be a parody of buggy games ;)

Well done!
