LD35 — Shapeshift

Tremor by Troyan 2016-04-21T00:18:00

That was cool. The game went slightly out of the screen but it wasn't game-breaking. Clearly some work and personality was put into the graphics and audio, so well done there. The gameplay got old quick though and I'm not sure if I understand how the story in your game's description is supposed to integrate with the game. Regardless, well done!

Transformagician by HuvaaKoodia 2016-04-21T00:39:00

Very well done! The atmosphere is great and the difficulty curve while a little sharp especially in level 3 is planned pretty well; it's satisfying when you win but not this moment of massive relief per se, which is good.

Downhillin' Shapeshiftin' by IHateATMFees 2016-04-21T01:03:00

It felt like it needed to go a lot faster at times as it occasionally got quite lethargic. Graphics could use a bump but certainly don't look bad. Nicely done.

Mo'o by waveformmodulations 2016-04-20T00:45:00

This is a funny little game. I couldn't honestly figure out the objective, and it didn't feel like there was one aside from the little light things, but the people are really funny, and I enjoyed it.

PolyShift by FatKarate 2016-04-22T00:41:00

Well done! It was over pretty quick as there wasn't much to do, but it has a nice overall feel.

Land of Curves by spiffl 2016-04-21T14:03:00

Trippy. The difficulty curve may have been a little sharp, but it was fun and the music was fitting. Well done.

Trionic by djfariel 2016-04-22T21:36:00

Well done, especially on the graphics, atmosphere and audio. However the game was immediately too difficult; the only tutorial for any kind of problem solving was die-and-learn like dark souls, which some people are a fan of I suppose (eg dark souls) but even if that's the path you want to take I would recommend being a little forgiving at least towards the beginning.

The Lab by MayMakeGame 2016-04-20T01:12:00

Well done! Strange. Definitely beginner work, but well done.

ShapeQuest by Penthaquill 2016-04-21T00:43:00

Um. Alright then. At least it made me laugh.

Helium-4 by mountainstorm 2016-04-20T01:09:00

Wha? It was pretty well done visually and the audio was fitting but I didn't understand what was going on or what the objective was. Good job anyway.

Disdain by The Salt 2016-04-21T01:06:00

So it was fun but I couldn't figure out what the objective was and I just kept dying. Graphics are well done indeed. Nice job.

Exhuman by Arvydas 2016-04-21T00:10:00

Graphics are great! Although I couldn't collect any scrap by pressing E for some reason, and I couldn't figure out how to progress the game. Otherwise great job!

Shape Invasion by Tchaikovsky Lins 2016-04-21T00:54:00

Well done, good graphics, nice sound, challenging gameplay in an entertaining fashion, I had fun.

Raith-GaleO by PaulHubert 2016-04-20T01:04:00

Oddly mesmerizing, I don't understand the objective (if there is one) but nice work nonetheless.

Space Dimension by bigbatardyt 2016-04-19T23:13:00

This game is great on the graphics side of things, but the gameplay wasn't there, it was immediately far too challenging, but it was fun nonetheless, and the atmosphere was great.

Squarcle by bagface 2016-04-19T23:21:00

Difficult. Interesting, different than what I've seen, but the mechanics feel almost lethargic. It's really what makes the game difficult, but I don't feel like that's especially fun. Regardless, nicely done all around!

Realm Shifters - Collect Orbs Edition by mkghoster 2016-05-05T03:10:00

Atmospherically, graphically, and aesthetically fantastic! Unfortunately the game mechanics weren't PARTICULARLY compelling, so that could've used more thought, but this is a GENUINELY impressive entry nonetheless. Well done.

LD37 — One room

Spellbound by ijzm 2016-12-31T22:24:00

Great art style and music, good game overall.

Parts and Labor by Dynamic Panic Studios 2017-01-01T01:42:00

The controls took me a minute to get used to but it was pretty fun. I could play this for awhile

1 biT Strike by SamuelSousa 2016-12-13T16:10:00

Nicely done. A little laggy in my browser unless it was intentional to give it sort of a heavy feel? (Either way I'm not gonna rate it lower just because it's laggy on this old laptop.) The aesthetics are pretty good, but the gameplay is not super compelling. All together though, nicely done!

Don't Stop You! by Kevin_B 2016-12-31T19:18:00

Great job! The aesthetics in the foreground clash a bit with the background, but it was good. Unfortunately on my computer, there was a weird graphical error where things flashed randomly on the screen which was annoying but I won't take off points for that. Nicely done!

One room, one life by Ygogo 2016-12-18T18:45:00

Good stuff! It was pretty twitchy which made it very difficult to play, but your atmosphere was believable and the puzzles worked out. Pretty cool.

One Room Repair by makhovykh 2016-12-31T00:54:00

Cool game, I've never seen anything quite like it before. One of the keyboard buttons did something interesting.

How many employees are needed in a factory? by ThCortezZ 2017-01-01T01:47:00

I was kinda confused what to do, but it's a pretty cool game. I like the audio and art style of the game

Furni-Chore by AgentParsec 2016-12-18T17:21:00

Interesting. Some of these were kind of fun. I laughed at how absurd some of the outcomes were; I think I had like a couch facing a wall because I forgot to rotate it, and some of them were just some of the most nonsensical layouts but they worked. Overall it was pretty good.

Floor is Lava! by #gmdsgn 2016-12-17T22:46:00

Nice work! Pixel art is very nice. The jumping is too loud in comparison to the music I think. Sticks to the theme and does it well. Nicely done!

Recyclinator by ThatSnillet 2016-12-31T00:15:00

Surprisingly entertaining for a game about recycling

Rebirth by bplane2 2017-01-01T01:32:00

Nice ambiance, the atmosphere of the game was pretty cool.

SpaceBeaver by OWC 2016-12-31T00:29:00

Really good stuff! Graphics were all really nice and remind me of the games I played when I was really young. Game was fun and I found myself strategizing and learning new techniques. Well done!

Decube by ato 2016-12-26T18:58:00

Good stuff! Really hard though. It would've been nice if the walls didn't kill you and the cube fired a little less often, because that made it very very difficult. Cool sound effects and an interesting aesthetic. Nice job!

Don't Ruin Christmas by mike-lowe 2016-12-31T02:54:00

The cats set everything on fire! I ruined Christmas :c

And the Chocolate Factory by TheFlakes 2017-01-01T01:04:00

Entertaining game, I was a little confused at first but I got the hang of it after awhile.

Atomic Rip-Off 9000 by AtomicRipoffTeam 2016-12-31T03:33:00

It was a little hard at first but I was able to get the hang of it. It was pretty fun once I understood the mechanics

Tiny World by Ednei 2016-12-18T18:38:00

Really good stuff! I wasn't able to understand how to climb up certain things, and after about 7 minutes it started to get boring because I really wasn't making any progress, but the graphics are really good! Even though the game is laggy and the textures are twitchy, the atmosphere is very good! Nicely done!

One Room Quest by nonsako 2016-12-13T16:55:00

Nice job! I couldn't understand how the spawning system worked; I was able to spawn a few slimes and a guy but after I couldn't figure out how to spawn more. I tried walking around a bunch but that didn't seem to do anything. Without music it's also strangely quiet. The pixel art was cool though. All around though, nicely done!

A Ghost in Time by arzi 2016-12-18T19:50:00

Great job! I wasn't able to complete it as I couldn't figure it out, but the use of shaders was great and the atmosphere was believable. Nicely done!

Dizzy Danny by XenosNS 2016-12-18T00:05:00

Pretty good! Not the best art, could've benefited from some music, and I felt it didn't really stick to the theme, but it was fun and the sound effects and the main character were funny.

The Employee by pLaw 2016-12-31T21:35:00

Very interesting interpretation of one room, I would have never though of anything like this. Nice game

Utility Station OR-152 by Justin Mullin 2016-12-17T21:33:00

Nice job! A little boring, but it has convincing atmosphere. It would've been nice if there was a little more feedback from the console just to get the player started; I didn't know what the point was for quite a while so it took me a while to even figure out what I was supposed to be doing. Overall, nicely done!

On Air by longshorts 2017-01-01T01:20:00

Cool game idea, I made the world a better place :p

Abominable by Conk 2016-12-31T00:37:00

For an incomplete game, it's still pretty entertaining. The art style is nice and I like the music too.

Liquid Media Games by liquidmedia 2016-12-18T18:16:00

Nicely done! The music didn't seem right for this particular game, and it seemed way too hopeless most of the time to feel like I'd be able to have any success defending the base, but the atmosphere seemed believable even with the somewhat cheesy graphics. All around, nicely done!

Tehos : Rebirth by Atmog 2016-12-31T22:02:00

Very good idea, it's pretty fun and I couldn't stop playing. One of the better games I've seen this Ludum Dare in my opinion

One Room Terror by smoreley 2017-01-01T01:52:00

Funny game, I would never have thought of playing as one room

Unwelcome by Louspirit 2016-12-31T18:57:00

Pretty good! I see a lot of potential here but I think you tried to go for slightly bigger ideas than what you could create with high fidelity in the time limit. With that said, it's great that you are trying to make things with high fidelity! I was impressed that you decided to get different people to act out an entire intro script, even if the acting and the audio quality was sub-par :3 I felt like I was playing a Roblox game to some extent with some nice graphic effects layered on top of it, and I also couldn't figure out how I was supposed to repair the ship, but I still enjoyed it. Nicely done!

I Lost It by nicruo 2016-12-26T20:18:00

Pretty good. I don't get it though. I wasn't able to progress once the black things started appearing, but there seemed to be an underlying story which is always saying something for a Ludum Dare game. Nicely done!

Lock and reload by Avant-Marde 2016-12-17T16:28:00

Really good stuff! A lot of clever graphical and aesthetic work. Stuck to the theme and created a believable atmosphere. I wasn't able to play all the way through because I think my computer has a problem with Unity right now for some reason, so obviously I won't take off points for that. Nicely done.

20 Seconds to Die by Squid 2017-01-01T01:57:00

Fun game, would be nice if there was a little more though. The graphics and animations are pretty good for being made is such short time

Rworld by blackbird806 2016-12-17T23:25:00

Nice work! The pixel art is great and the level design was pretty good too! I didn't really feel like it took place in one single room, but it was really good anyway.

Cave Explorer by alexander0153 2017-01-01T01:27:00

Nice game, I agree with other comments that a little more content would be nice but overall pretty fun game

Crazy Kitchen by itshardbeingaboss 2016-12-31T01:15:00

Interesting concept, it's pretty fun. It was hard to keep up with at first but I got the hang of it.

It Came from the Dessert by Maniac 2016-12-17T17:11:00

Admittedly, it's hilarious. I couldn't figure out how to accomplish anything though; I tried putting pizza in the microwave, fridge and oven but they didn't seem to be too interested in that. Over all, nice work even though the gameplay didn't really seem to work.

Trump's First Day by jamioflan 2016-12-31T02:36:00

It was a little confusing at first but I figured it out and made america great again. Pretty fun game

Don't Stop Me by breno 2016-12-26T19:32:00

Very challenging. Graphics were good, gameplay was smooth, sound effects were good, but it was very difficult. Good job though!

Goldoom by Peringo 2016-12-31T02:01:00

It's pretty hard but still a fun game. I couldn't get more than 3 before I died

LD39 — Running out of Power

Crystals Of Power by Avon 2017-08-09T00:54:03Z

That was pretty cool. It actually felt conclusive which is nice. The levels were a little flat. I think you should've combine mechanics more as they progressed and maybe found some other ways to spice up those levels, but you still had three unique levels and an ending which was cool. The materials were excellent and the wizards were awesome. Nicely done!

SPHEER by Split82 2017-08-08T22:44:10Z

Interesting. Portal vibes for sure. Solid graphics, mechanics were interesting, but it was short and didn't explore them quite as much as I'd like (but that's understandable for 72 hours). The last puzzle did a good job of testing everything you knew, although I got stuck by taking a sphere while standing between some of the final doors. Oops. It was also a little weird to have the button that links the sphere to things be the same button that puts it down as it kind of conflicts. Overall nicely done.

Runic Forest by tjakka5 2017-08-13T21:30:39Z

Very nice. Cool mechanics. I feel like some of the actions are a little unnecessary but they were all cool. Everything is basically polished and fits together aesthetically. I also liked that you got a voice actor and she was pretty good; I don't like reading text intros so that was cool.

Displaced by oberynmartell 2017-08-11T01:30:21Z

The sandstorm was an excellent idea; it went on kinda long but it's interesting and looks good. I like that you have a dialogue system and quest-like things, but the gameplay was pretty boring. Sound would've also been nice. A minimap would've helped me not get lost and a better plot would've helped make quests more interesting. (Although I understand that it's really tough to write a good plot.)

133MHz by ouichesdoctor 2017-08-09T21:50:48Z

That was tough. Very cool concept though and it really looked like Windows 98. I think you probably should've had some leeway as to how problems could be solved, because it was extremely difficult. But all in all it was well put together and really cool.

Classic Games: Getting On by loveapplegames 2017-08-09T21:19:47Z

Super fast-paced; I like it. Good audio too, it goes with it well. Pressing the P key automatically completes levels? But yeah this was pretty good all together, even if it's a bit rage educing. I don't feel like you really needed two levels for each considering how difficult they were, so maybe you should've made the first level on each one easier. Nicely done!

CryOS by James Dunlap 2017-08-09T00:10:28Z

Nicely done. It was pretty difficult, I must say. I couldn't really figure out how to create sustainable power on my first two plays. The placing UI was also a bit finicky and sometimes froze the game for like 5 seconds when I built something. But it's a solid concept and basically well put together.

Icarus by Jaakko 2017-08-09T22:07:42Z

Thanks for controller integration but there was no way to fire with a controller? Right trigger doesn't seem to work although I am emulating a 360 controller with a PS3 controller that could be my fault. I like the idea of orbiting the planet at the right angle except that the sweet-spot is extremely small. Also the controls are weird. Nicely done though.

The Scrapyard by Jake Shaw 2017-08-09T01:28:25Z

That last jump was confusing... I moved the shelf but there was an invisible wall? Then I jumped completely off the map; those physics were weird. It's a cool concept, and I seriously appreciate that the power sources also act as respawn points, although I might've opted to have fewer respawn points in exchange for faster charging time and/or slower power decay.

Hyper Battery Girl by Deke 2017-08-13T19:45:52Z

Hey I'm from the CrossCode livestream audience. Really great job, everything felt crisp and when you get up to speed it's amazing. All the sounds, music, graphics and controls merge together into a really great experience. It IS pretty hard sometimes at least in the Jam version but when I finished a level I was like YEES because it presents a good challenge. Very nicely done.

LD45 — Start with nothing

Poor farmer by Hadik 2019-10-20T02:05:19Z

Nice game! Started slow but that's kinda the theme anyway. I really wanted to see the farm at the end because at that point I was thoroughly addicted but that's okay. Some quiet music also might have been nice. Well done!

Alphabet by rplnt 2019-10-25T21:20:16Z

Interesting little game! At some point the player becomes pretty overpowering but it's fun to build up to that point and it's also so nice at the beginning to make everything snap together. Nicely done!

Fan The Flames by diaonic 2019-10-23T16:43:10Z

Interesting little game! The overall mood of everything was pretty good; the music went with the art style and the gameplay, etc. I was possibly hearing some overlapping music tracks, the graphics tended to have seams between the blocks and the really nice snow particles tended to seem as if they were occasionally flickering in and out but that may have just been the days passing by or a weather system. Nicely done though!

Red Vs Green by Flying Cat of the Pepes 2019-10-25T22:57:31Z

That was cool! Really enjoyed it. The mouth sounds, when they were obvious, were a little off-putting, and some fitting music would have been nice, but it was a really enjoyable little game. Nicely done!

Dear Diary by Rodrigo Denúbila 2019-10-20T17:03:29Z

It's clear that some effort went into this! The controls and camera seemed a little janky, but it's cool that you were able to make a full movement system. The story seemed a little dry but at least it all followed and made sense. Nicely done!

The Greatest Game in the World by AhmenX 2019-10-24T17:35:12Z

That was pretty funny. I didn't end up fixing the game myself but it's a really clever idea. More than once I was thoroughly convinced the game was broken and then it turned out to be part of the plot which was funny. Nicely done!

FUTHARK by dikkop 2019-10-20T16:22:29Z

Really excellent job. A little short but surprisingly aesthetically pleasing. Nicely done!

Game from the Void by Cole and Jordan Studios 2019-10-24T19:15:58Z

@diaonic Darn, I worried that that may happen. Hope you had fun though!

Game from the Void by Cole and Jordan Studios 2019-10-25T16:04:54Z

@gentel Yes it seems like gamejolt was down last night but it seems to be back up. And yes I probably should've made it tell you that you can shoot. I added the "ow" last minute because I was worried people wouldn't understand it was taking damage. Anyway thanks!

Game from the Void by Cole and Jordan Studios 2019-10-26T14:28:56Z

@anion-z Thank you for the rating and the kind words! Really appreciate it!

Star Battle by microwerx 2019-10-24T23:45:55Z

Very interesting. The controls felt a bit sluggish and the goal of the game was a bit arbitrary but it was certainly unique and aesthetically pleasing. Nicely done!

Rescue Hamsters! by ryjcio 2019-10-23T23:31:36Z

Pretty good little game! I think it may have made more sense to only do one hamster per level, since you effectively end up doing the same thing over and over. I don't have a lot of negative to say about this game. Nicely done!

No Stone Uncrumbled by Jonasz999 2019-10-26T00:01:50Z

Interesting game! Certainly unique. I don't know why the light bubble was needed; it sorta felt claustrophobic for no reason. A unique little math game with some interesting sprites. Nicely done!

Kruzhok by Lamossus 2019-10-25T21:41:05Z

Nice! It was fun to play especially with a joystick. The music and art were a little bland but at least they fit together aesthetically. The tracers really help show your position and I really liked the addition of new and interesting enemies towards the later parts of the game. Nicely done!

Rail shooter prototype by Chocolat-Endive 2019-10-27T15:17:09Z

Very interesting! It isn't very long it's hard to tell whether or not the targets are getting hit or not, so some visual and audio feedback would be nice for that. There may have been audio feedback but I couldn't distinguish it. The graphics however are really excellent and aesthetically pleasing! The mechanics are also unique. Nicely done!

Colour Shot by HumphreysMedia 2019-10-25T22:01:39Z

That was fun! I wish there was a little more to this game, some music and some more mechanics that would build as the game progressed, but it was fun and the aesthetics were nice. Nicely done!

Sluggish Grind by Catusfelony 2019-10-24T18:01:57Z

That was cool! A little music would've been nice, and the tiles sometimes kind of jittered. The only other problem was that the bosses took a little long to defeat but at least that meant it was somewhat more exciting when they exploded into a million coins. Other than that I loved it. Nicely done!

Nothing About Stage by nikita-lozhkin 2019-10-25T22:21:52Z

That was interesting. Not much too it but it was fun. I feel like maybe you should've had more total lives so that you could more easily get to high levels so that it would become more tense but it was fun the way it was. Nicely done!

The Terror that came from Nothing by Le Don 2019-10-27T15:09:12Z

You did some clever things in this game! Audio would've helped tremendously, but the game itself is pretty good. The thing where it duplicates the mice and then shoots them down is pretty smart and helps let the player know what is coming. Nicely done!

Rhythmic Nothing by Vyndilis 2019-10-24T23:57:07Z

Well- that was short! But at least you clearly put some work into the effects that are present; it looks nice. I definitely feel like you could've expanded on this and brought in more various button presses and melodies, would've been very interesting. Nice job though!

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Arcternal by superjai 2020-10-23T03:21:42Z

Cool game! It was hard to defend all 3 crystals and very quickly I was down to just one to defend lol very fun though!

I like that you can see the other crystals in the background. It'd be really cool if you could also see if enemies were floating towards the crystals in the background so you could start moving towards them in advance

Test Subject by ThiefViolinist 2020-10-22T23:10:59Z

A good idea for game but as others have said it is a bit too difficult and confusing. In the future having someone playtest your game during development is a good way to see how other players might react and can be helpful for adjusting difficulty before you release a game!

The Flying Postman by auxC 2020-10-22T22:41:05Z

One of the most addicting Ludum Dare games I've ever played! I could see myself playing a game like this while bored on a long flight lol

Loop Guys by croze 2020-10-24T20:22:02Z

This was fun! I feel like the lighting could've been better, but the animations and AIs were good! I didn't feel like it was that hard once I backed the camera out and just watched where the openings were, but it was still fun to play while it lasted. Thanks for this submission!

Inferno of Espantalho by gustavo.christino 2020-10-25T00:31:04Z

Interesting! The jump behavior was a bit confusing. I think you could have extended this a lot. Also what was that thing about a genetic algorithm? How does that work? Anyway, thanks for the submission!

Beyond Death by Trypants 2020-10-25T00:55:44Z

This is a great entry! I see you guys worked with a large team and I'm sure that helped. The art is on POINT - I love it. Some of the animation transitions were a little bit jarring, but most things were very smooth and well animated. I don't know what to criticize here. I guess it took me a while to figure out the death cycle thing, especially since he said if you die too many times you lose but I figured it out. Great submission!

Welcome To MILTON KEYNES by Lyje 2020-10-24T16:37:34Z

Well. That was. Interesting. The way the music and the sarcastic mood all came together was really good and funny. The music just had this flavor of sarcasm that was so funny, but even the music seemingly got stuck in a loop after a while which started to get annoying and I don't know if it was a bug or a feature lol. I love the way you introduced new features one at a time; it made picking up the game really intuitive and easy. Something I noticed is that you could get stuck behind a car going nearly the same speed as you. This could be improved by not allowing the random speeds to be generated within a range around the player's speed. Overall I had a lot of fun with the game though. Thanks for this submission!

LoopChan by Kaish 2020-10-25T02:08:01Z

Solid game! Very aesthetically pleasing. The music kind of sounded like the notes didn't agree but it was still fitting. I loved how the robot goes through the different phases, especially when he flops down on the floor. Great submission!

Loop the Loop by Bajtix 2020-10-25T01:32:18Z

Very interesting! Unique gameplay, even if it was really difficult, once I figured it out, it was really fun. The fun seems to be in juggling all of the different things at once. Great submission!

Nugget by plloyer 2020-10-25T02:24:07Z

Awesome! There was one part where I kept trying to change into the egg but I was mid-jump and I would just hit the trap that made it really hard to progress. Still, it was really fun and the sound effects are hilarious. We made a game that was a little similar to this all the way back for Ludum Dare 35 but it wasn't an infinite runner. I like this a lot more, especially since that was only our 2nd LD game and it showed XD. Solid submission!

Loop Shoot by superunknown 2020-10-25T01:50:56Z

Why was this so addicting? Every little punch was so satisfying. Even though the game was so small in its scope, it was well executed. The music was a little repetitive but decent. I enjoyed it. Thanks for this submission!

Invisibles' Loop by Acdia 2020-10-22T22:27:32Z

Interesting concept! I like games with command lines like this. It took me awhile to understand what to do but I eventually found the login after a few deaths. A prompt like "Press LMB to use console" when you get near the monitor would be helpful imo. An enemy killed me through a wall once but seeing as how this is a compo submission aka "hard mode" I think that's forgivable lol nice game!

Sisyphus Beetle Takes His Daughter to Work by pee-thief 2020-10-26T19:22:03Z

That was.. interesting. Really funny and unexpected. I have no idea why you decided to add dad jokes but for some reason it improves the entire experience. I think it's a little too short, but the details in the animated background, world building, and audio all come together to make this an enjoyable, funny little game. Nice submission!

Overrun by GameDevMatt 2020-10-22T20:52:54Z

A pretty fun game made in such a short timeframe! Aiming was a bit difficult at first, I'd often move too far to the left or right of an enemy and miss the first shot or two. But good job overall!

Exolvuntur by towergame 2020-10-24T20:09:50Z

Good audio and visuals, but yeah something to fix the framerate issue would have been good. It's cool that it's procedurally generated ...have you been playing Enter The Gungeon..? Anyway, the backstory is interesting and the full 3d walls are cool. I felt like the first level was a little bit big and also difficult, especially since the player moves so slow in comparison to the enemies, but at least there were a lot of different enemy types and weapons and stuff which made it interesting! Just remember to consider the framerate next time! Other than that, nice submission!

Stuck in a Loop by Lena Taylor 2020-10-22T22:58:13Z

The trumpet weapon was hilarious lol I had fun playing but I think it'd be better if the enemies were slightly more difficult and fought back more.

Retrospective by ilya096 2020-10-25T01:12:37Z

Cool! Stacking multiple players on top of each other is a great mechanic, and I liked the button thing at the beginning. Unfortunately, I couldn't figure out how to get past that. The art was a little jagged, and it seemed like the sprites were still loading in sometimes for some reason. Overall great entry!

HarmonyMaybe by Kevin Du 2020-10-23T02:49:52Z

Very unique game! This game is a pleasant change of pace from many of the other games I've played. The song I created started off sounding really nice but quickly descended into anarchy lol

Shutter Chaos by ColeSlaughter 2022-10-15T05:38:19Z

Awesome! Great jank physics, great puppet models and texture, very fun in-spite, or perhaps because, of how difficult it is to get them to actually do anything right. Funny yearbook quotes. Nice work!

The Lure of Treasure Whisper Island by GameDevZach 2022-10-15T05:13:38Z

Interesting! It was a nice little game. Interesting use of the Unity terrain system (I'm assuming?) I found it pretty challenging but I was able to find one. For a compo game this was a nice cool little project and the concept seemed kind of unique. Voice acting of course is on-point.

Under Pressure by Teanan 2022-10-20T22:34:24Z

It took a couple attempts to get the hang of it but I had a lot of fun trying to keep everything under control! I also like the voxel art :)

Thunderstorm by Paul Nadan 2022-10-20T02:53:15Z

This is awesome. Love the aesthetics and the creepiness of it all. I felt like the section with the spiders and hiding in the holes was really difficult and tedious; that's where I eventually gave up. The mood is great, and it's cool that there really is a bit of a horror aspect to it when it's just a compo game made in pygame. Impressive!

You've been Thunderstruck by borgi 2022-10-20T15:44:15Z

For such a simple concept I'm surprised how addictive it was. Controller support was a LIFESAVER during the second to last segment so I could actually slow down and thread the needle. It's fun going super fast at the end but it man it requires some precision in that second to last part. A nice little challenge; great submission!

The Potion Shop - an LGBT story by Gabriel Dias Oliveira de Almeida 2022-10-15T04:11:11Z

Nice little game! Nice art in the background. It's a cute little story! However, the game rests on the story and the story didn't surprise me that much. I would have loved if there was a twist, something surprising, or philosophical to chew on in the story to spice it up a bit. Nice submission!

Relentless by JPatrick 2022-10-20T00:29:30Z

Once I get the flame thrower it's all over. Rockets don't even compare honestly. Cool little game, looks like an old flash game although I guess it's Java? The player has momentum that gets kinda floaty and I bounce off walls with momentum - the momentum in general feels a bit hard to control. It's fun despite that though. I wish there was some fitting audio. Nice submission!

Police Arrive Every 10 Seconds by ManTou 2022-10-20T22:54:18Z

Awesome. Music is great, actions are punchy and satisfying and the upgrades are addictive. I wish the sprites were a little more detailed, and that there was more in the environment. One issue I noticed is that if you leave with the first truck each time, you're basically invincible, and it's also really boring to play that way. I wish the baddies posed more of a threat. Great submission!

Get All the Orbs by Suchista 2022-10-20T00:52:39Z

SCREEN-SHAKE ON IMPACT YAAAAS!! It's pretty satisfying to pwn n00bs. Sound is pretty good too. The artwork for the enemies and player feel like they could be better. I think the enemies could be faster and the camera backed out slightly. The level barriers also seem like they were just thrown in, and don't feel natural. Enemies can spawn out of bounds but you probably knew that. Nice submission!

Medieval Politics by sillyman987 2022-10-20T01:26:54Z

I love the idea that it's like "PEOPLE JUST WON'T STOP GIVING ME LOVE MAKE IT STOP" which really makes it enjoyable; I find myself sitting there saying "NO. GO AWAY." out loud. I think there should be more cards, some sarcastic music, and yeah that dang NaN bug really throws a wrench in it. Really funny though and a great submission!

Curse of the Wereburger by Brainloaf Studio 2022-10-15T03:23:08Z

Game good. Would rate again. Art had good details, animations were juicy too. I kinda wish there was more color but it was thematic to have it black and white. Lots of content and explored the mechanics well! I found the last level a little confusing, especially because he seems to be able to shoot you 1 block out of the range of the laser I think? Overall this is a really good and really complete submission, nice work!

Downpour by chris1919 2022-10-15T04:39:30Z

Wow! This is really good stuff. The colors, the sounds, and the fact that it's just simply good, focused, clean, and fun to play! Introduces mechanics at the right pace, and doesn't break from it's mood for the duration of the game. I just noticed now that all the 10 seconds things are from the thunderstorm which is cool. Really excellent submission!

Speed Dating for Misfits by itsBoats 2022-10-17T23:20:44Z

I love this game. So many great characters. Each character perfectly encapsulates the idea that you're talking to someone/something just a little bit.. off, or unexpected. I'm looking for constructive criticism and failing to come up with any. Great entry!

Vanilla Sky by Rhanzoc 2022-10-21T00:39:46Z

As others said I also fell through the floor a lot but I was still able to make it to the end. It's an interesting concept and has nice potential if you keep working on smoothing out the bugs in your custom engine

Adventures of a Lonely Pixel by AugustCoder 2022-10-21T00:14:31Z

Interesting stuff. I was a little confused about where the checkpoints were sometimes. I also wish there was more sound as others mentioned, and some other notes in the music to spice it up. Bloomified neon always looks good. Nice submission!

Chicken Produced All (Clicker game) by Wendy222 2022-10-20T23:50:23Z

Interesting. I wish there was more to do. I feel like clicking the egg isn't super responsive, like if it shook a little and made particles, that would be cool. I want to rate this up on art too but the art isn't original! Still great use of assets and a fun little game. Nice submission!

Clique Hell High by Sean Esopenko 2022-10-15T05:58:15Z

Really good for a first game jam submission! It's hard! Animations are good. I feel like if the first part of the game was a little easier I could have warmed up to the mechanics easier, or at least checkpoints would have been super helpful. Nice work on the game, I can see the effort in the game and on the little marketing screen thing. Nice submission!

Such a short notice to move all the boxes and leave the green door... by Parpello 2022-10-18T22:26:59Z

Interesting. I think if I had to actually mash the keys each time instead of it looping I would have been able to control it better. I like the concept of slowly figuring it out but I kind of wish I would have known I was supposed to be looking for that at the beginning, because it took me a really long time to figure that out. Also the name of the game is hilarious; I love it. Nice entry!

Escape the Island by john-wuller 2022-10-15T03:41:09Z

That was fun. I feel like it may have controlled better if the collider were better because you can sorta get stuck half-off a block. The premise is fine. It plays well! The UI is gray, and it would be cool if it had a custom graphic or something. Nice submission!

10 Second Testing by Triangle Point 2022-10-21T00:04:44Z

I was surprised it was so short but it's good and it's funny. I wonder why the gun particles shoot backwards, and it fires on mouse up and down lol. Great sense of attitude, feels a bit jank but I like when the music kicks in louder and it's like "oh crap". Nice submission!

Cyblade: The Tale of Mark Wan by innocuousuk 2022-10-20T22:18:28Z

This was one of the most fun games I've rated in LD51! Reloading did eventually stop working for me but it was still very fun to play multiple times :)

Pandora’s Box [WebGL/Win/Touch] by AJ Studio 2022-10-18T20:20:13Z

Nice game! Some people may have already mentioned some of these things but here's what I notice: The focus of attention for development for this game was clearly aesthetics, which are great! But there are some graphical issues and the level design is... fine... if the player controller doesn't feel slightly jank. I noticed were that there was either a lack of anti-aliasing or a lack of resolution on some things. Also the player controller's movement is on a different update loop than the camera, which causes that stutter. I loved the aesthetics in this game though. Nice submission!

Edit: OH I forgot to mention. As I said, the aesthetics are great, so consider using a different font than Arial or whatever the default is because that would have looked great here!

Vastitas Fracturae by GnawNitsuj 2022-10-20T01:44:08Z

Someone already mentioned it but major Iron Lung vibes here. It really feels like the focus of this game was to stir up a similar mood. In fact, I'm still not sure if I understand the mechanics of the game or not, but I enjoyed engaging with the aesthetics almost more than the actual gameplay if that makes sense. Awesome submission!

LD52 — Harvest

Harvest From Your Success by jk5000 2023-01-26T19:00:38Z

Very interesting! An interesting message and the use of 2 endings makes a lot of sense. I did get stuck looking for the very last invisible one for a while but I think the game just gave it to me at some point? Love the philosophical ideas and the use of the echo voice as like an inner dialogue that doesn't believe the affirmations. Cool stuff, a great submission!

Once a Year by ded 2023-01-26T03:34:50Z

Interesting. Love the added poetry. I really wanted to be able to move back and forth to really MOW THAT LAWN BOI but alas. Little bit jank, very interesting.

Watermelon Rush! by Cole and Jordan Studios 2023-01-10T20:16:22Z

@rezioz I am making a post jam re-balance that should make the game more fun, hopefully. Maybe that will help. The first thing I'm doing is making it start with $1000

Watermelon Rush! by Cole and Jordan Studios 2023-01-12T18:48:44Z

@megalukes Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I currently have a TD itch so I had to find a reason to make one for Ludum Dare

Watermelon Rush! by Cole and Jordan Studios 2023-01-13T18:56:12Z

@qooorti interesting, yeah I wonder about the choppy tower, it's great for hitting multiple enemies but it's best if you can get like a long-pass or a double pass on it. Idk, it might still be too expensive; it's something I found myself using late-game when I didn't know what else to do, but I suspect that most players won't get to late game with extra resources. I also used navmesh for navigation so I wonder if there's a way to draw the path using what the navmesh decides on.

Watermelon Rush! by Cole and Jordan Studios 2023-01-24T17:13:59Z

@kohcepba yeah that spinny tower is best for group damage; it's good for late game in places where it can get good coverage. Sounds like you played it at least twice! I do actually enjoy playing it again and seeing where the grass forces me to place things. I usually don't enjoy playing my LD games more than once or twice but I enjoy this one enough that I've considered expanding on it...

Watermelon Rush! by Cole and Jordan Studios 2023-01-24T17:40:12Z

@kohcepba yes it attempts to run a check and if it can't pass it regenerates until it can. Navmesh is a little jank though and so I suspect it's possible to generate a non-passable maze but I haven't seen that happen yet.

Watermelon Rush! by Cole and Jordan Studios 2023-01-25T04:54:31Z

@erkberg that's a good idea, you know, if I expand on it I'll think about that because I noticed the same thing when I was playing it; it's annoying to move the cursor all the way over there...

Watermelon Rush! by Cole and Jordan Studios 2023-01-26T18:37:43Z

@miusoft Thanks! I'm glad you got a kick out of it!

Watermelon Rush! by Cole and Jordan Studios 2023-01-26T18:38:39Z

@poboy Awesome! I was hoping some people would get as addicted to it as I did. Yes I know you can cheese them lol but this is honestly more programming than I do for most LD games so I kinda let it slide so that it could get finished.

Watermelon Rush! by Cole and Jordan Studios 2023-01-26T18:39:34Z

@raggedyjam oh yes that is a major exploit. I'd have to change the system entirely to fix that so I let it slide. If you enjoyed the game though then I'm happy.

Watermelon Rush! by Cole and Jordan Studios 2023-01-26T18:40:10Z

@cat-lab thanks! This is true, and the WebGL version makes it even worse cuz the colors are a little off.

Watermelon Rush! by Cole and Jordan Studios 2023-01-26T18:42:34Z

@xfinktion thanks for the great feedback! Sounds like you were able to really get into the later stages, which is when I think the game gets good. Also yeah if I were going to expand on this game, I would probably ditch Navmesh and use tile-based pathfinding that can instantly decide if you can place a tower or not.

Watermelon Rush! by Cole and Jordan Studios 2023-01-26T20:31:03Z

@schmalex thanks! Yeah I kind of thought the rolling melons were amusing when I first made them

Watermelon Rush! by Cole and Jordan Studios 2023-01-26T20:31:14Z

@jk5000 thanks!

Watermelon Rush! by Cole and Jordan Studios 2023-01-27T22:53:34Z

@raggedyjam oh yeah I would still want to be able to have player-shaped paths because that's the best part

Watermelon Rush! by Cole and Jordan Studios 2023-01-27T22:54:42Z

@t90 tru WebGL just doesn't do well for this because it involves switching the trapped mouse on and off, which it cannot do correctly

Five Finger Copper Shopper by Don Fouts 2023-01-26T20:19:23Z

"Good ending - you choose not to steal" oh thank god I'm not a bad person. Wait what about all the copper I just stole? and the damage I did to the house? Confused about this ending lol. A funny concept; I didn't think I would find a LD game about stealing copper pipes directly out of peoples walls but here it is. A fun game, nice job!

Crophunt by Bugord 2023-01-26T21:30:04Z

The graphics and physics on the tractor are great! What did you use for it, is it using the Unity Wheel system? A great submission, enjoyed it a lot.

Howdy Boy Harvest by Ismael Rodriguez 2023-01-23T19:50:35Z

Holy heck I like this. It's a simple concept and you quickly run out of things to do, but the art, aesthetics, music an audio design are really excellent and really make the game enjoyable. I easily found myself zoning out while kicking the snot out of bugs. An excellent submission!

War of the Pants by Ratrat44 2023-01-26T01:27:56Z

Wow I love this! Never tried a LD in VR before but now I want to try more. The voice of the alien guy is great, what did you use for it?

My complaints are these:

The player is not parented to the room (I think) which causes this nauseating jitter all the time, which also makes the controls difficult to use. And I got totally stuck in a wall at the end.

The center control stick is inverted, which it doesn't need to be. My experience is that most people get annoyed with inverted controls and I feel the same.

There should be some explosion noises or something, and more dramatic noises when I knock things around with the robo hands

I was confused about how I won.

Anyway, I had a smile on my face while I was playing this, the whole concept felt awesome and funny. Great submission!

Overroasted by Dock Frankenstein 2023-01-23T19:33:51Z

Love the Overcooked reference. Perhaps I'm biased towards this game just because I like Overcooked. It was unmistakable what you were going for and I like that there's a twist to it. Surprisingly the basic mechanics are essentially the same if you think about it. Also something I'm wondering about is why there are audio options in the menu if there is no audio? Like they are nice audio options but..? Anyway nice submission, I love it.

Combine Carnage by MinThaMie 2023-01-23T23:27:23Z

Kart games are my bread and butter. Love this. I think the "yeah!" gets annoying roughly instantly even though it's funny. You opted out of humor?? Love the aesthetics and the way the track and the environment move is trippy. Nice submission!

Maylee's Recipe by Sikowny 2023-01-24T01:56:46Z

Loved the digital art is this game. This wasn't the sort of thing I felt like playing again, but the music, animations, and overall aesthetics are great. Nice submission!

BROCOMAN by arturogcdev 2023-01-24T17:36:47Z

Oh my gosh this is great. I don't think it's actually that much fun to play but the whole idea of it, like this #### goes hard bro. The problems I had were what people have already said, inverted controls, motion blur might not have been that bad if the player wasn't on a different Update loop than the camera, which causes this horrible jerkiness (I've usually found that as the culprit for that problem in my own games anyway). I don't feel like my actions in the game had an important effect on anything, but it's just so damn funny. Love this. Great submission.

There Was A Day by T90. 2023-01-24T02:06:57Z

Wow. Interesting ending. Very dramatic. I wish there was a little bit of interactive stuff, but the story was cool enough and the use of Stable Diffusion was cool too, making the rooms change at the end really gives a sense of drama. Great submission!

Surprisingly effective horror! I couldn't figure out how to find a safe place though. Clever concept and great execution!

The Garden Games by crashbashash 2023-01-24T01:39:56Z

First of all, before I say anything critical, a hub world with multiple games is more than can be expected from most LD games, so great job! That being said, the games were... fine. Mooter mania increased in difficulty, which I liked, but it felt a little janky. Cabbit catcher was pretty interesting and I felt like could have been pretty satisfying, except the difficulty doesn't increase and it's too easy once you get the hang of it! Same thing with Chapple Fall, it could be good but it doesn't get harder and I wish it did! Also why do his eyes just randomly extend in amazement lol. All of that said, this was really interesting, graphics were decent; I like it!

Techno Plants by morpheyz 2023-01-24T03:59:08Z

I think this is one of the better games I've rated. Creative and funny concept that was executed pretty well all things considered. I never quite felt myself getting into the groove per-se and I wonder if that had something to do with the timing? Like it seemed more sensitive to me being early than late, I think. Hard to tell. A great submission!

Alida of Arx by jsmars 2018-04-26T21:23:28Z

Excellent work. Some of the voice acting was a little quiet or odd but some of it was really good. The art was great. Also the text at the beginning went by a little fast but I could still read most of it. Pretty fun game overall!

I managed to finish in 1:21 and after that got slower each time xD interesting concept for sure, but it was difficult for me to consistently get the timing right with the enter key. Something like that visual indication like you were talking about would've been nice but overall its a pretty cool game!

Clever. I had fun. I think the music could've been a little more fleshed out and there could've been like some audio feedback to help you know if you're keeping the rhythm. Very unique indeed and you combined the genres quite well. Come check out my game at: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/dating-sim-hell

That was cool. It took some trail and error for me to figure things out but that's good for a small level. Nicely done. Check out my game here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/dating-sim-hell

Nice job! It took me a while to realize that I wasn't supposed to be trying to score goals but once I started getting into it it was really funny! If you want to check our game out you can find it here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/dating-sim-hell

It took awhile for me to get the hang of everything but after I understood how everything worked it was pretty fun!

Shoot bullets in my head while I play golf by FabianLC 2018-04-25T07:00:14Z

I'm not sure how close I got to the end, but boy was this game difficult! There were times where getting hit seemed inevitable but overall I had a pretty fun time! The bullet patterns were really cool and I liked that you could actually hit the enemies with the golf ball

Farmer's Delight: A Twin-Stalk Shooter by Dovakla 2018-04-25T06:37:59Z

I like this concept! Small movements are a little difficult to make but overall I'd say it's pretty fun once I got the hang of it! I didn't notice the shop until I read the comments then went back and played some more
