Pretty good transition from 2D to 3D.
Our songs are almost done, you can check them out here: https://soundcloud.com/acroll/sets/ldjam-41
Awesome! We loved the pink dancing cockroach, hahaha. 10/10! XD
Awesome game! It's definitely a unique concept. It can be a little frustrating when the RNG doesn't like you, but when you have a string of good cards, it is nice.
cool game, you should implement using the numbers to deal the cards also.
It took me a bit to realize that i didn't have to match the colors but that's on me for not reading. Really addictive tho.
Nice! Rhythm games seem like a tricky endeavor! The music and graphics are fun. I wish I had a bit more health so I could play longer, but maybe I'm just really bad at the game haha.
It took some attempts to realize I can play any card to avoid flower reach the red zone without any punishment. After I understand the basic mechanics, it is really fun to play the game. I need to manage my hand card to achieve combos and higher score. Great Game~~
Same as @rainysolar. Took me a while before understanding I can play any card without punishment. After that, it was a blast to try to achieve the biggest combo on all 3 songs! Well done!
Haha, this cloud is very cool! Great work!
Visuals are super cool, I loved those flower animations. Ingame music tracks are okay, but menu music is extra cool! The mood of this game is absolutely fantastic. But I found gameplay not so good. I was always frustrated because i haven't got correct cards and my performance was bound to random generator
We should make it clearer that you can play any card, because the game is definitely more fun to play when you know that. :)
I've fixed the instructions up a bit so you can actually read them on the it.ch html5 build. Thanks for the music feedback - @acroll has never done LD before, and he's super new to making music. I think he did amazing!
Thanks for all the feedback, you guys. I'm gonna make sure I play all your games if I can (I'm on a Mac so I don't get to play the Windows only ones).
<3
The presentation with the music and graphics were great, but in that department It would have been nice to have some more feedback when you succeeded (or failed) at hitting a note. Instead I would miss some and it would just sort of end. Without the feedback, it never really felt like playing a card was working. Also, the negative feedback loop felt really harsh. While it was inspired to tie your health to your hand size, it also made it harder and harder to do well which made the game feel really punishing.
I'm not sure what the rules are here, but your suggestions would be pretty easy to implement, @kleinzach - are we allowed to edit the game while it's being judged? I'm pretty sure people do, but I'm not sure if we're supposed to. :D
Nice job, liked the 3d models, and when it got hectic it got really fun. I don't know if the mash of genres worked well or added to the game though. Overall very impressive
Nice game! It plays better than I would have imagined. Once I figured out I didn't have to match the card, I was able to get quite far. The music was worth the effort. Well done!
@MegRabbit You can release a post-jam version, but only critical bugfixes and ports to new platforms are eligible for scoring -- the game that people are judging needs to be materially equivalent to what you completed during the 72 hours.
For me... This is REALLY hard to play with a trackpad. I would suggest adding keyboard controls -- maybe number the card slots 1 through 9. But I like the concept and the music works pretty well!
Thanks for letting me know @Coda-Highland - I think we'll leave it as it is (the only adjustments I made to the itch HTML5 were repositioning buttons so you could reach 'em, cuz not being able to click 'play' is a game breaking issue).
@Expendibleman and I make games that are motion and gesture controlled normally, so we're both really good at mouse and trackpad controls, but adding keyboard controls makes a ton of sense. Thanks!
Very addicting and cute game with amazing music! Keep it up!
I liked the game, but I think it would be way improved if either there was no space between cards, or you could select them with the keyboard. I ended up missing a lot of cards because of clicking in the middle of them. Also, although I found awesome the idea that the number of cards is the number of mistakes you can do, it's kind of bad when you are gonna click in a card and it's disappearing, and then you miss again, try to click in the other card for the next note (which just disappeared) and things go downhill. I guess I can get used to this mechanic though.
Still, really enjoyable and neat idea.
This is a very cute game! I like the sprites used on the flowers and such. It does take a minute to learn, but the music matches well with the game itself. I also feel like it's so easy to spin immediately out of control in this, but that's probably just me not being great at the game. Good work!
Great work! Really like the art style and music. When the matching cards are there, the game feels at its best. Might I suggest having the option to swap your cards with the right click? I think giving players that risk/reward mechanic of going for the right card for a multiplier could add additional depth.
@legavroche that's a really good suggestion - we may work that into the final game. I definitely want to make a mobile version with powerups and stuff, and a card switching powerup makes a ton of sense.
I like having to plan out your clicks, and being able to react to playing the next card you draw instead of burning a wild.
I also didn't notice the different judgment windows for a while but it feels like the perfect window is earlier than it should be.
The flowers and art are cute, but the game could use more juice with SFX and VFX. There wasn't much audiovisual feedback on each note.
Great game!

@GoodKenneth I don't even know if @expendibleman got a multiplier that big! Thanks for the screenshot, it makes us super happy!
great graphics, UI, dancing creatures, music. gameplay was a little tricky, found myself running out of cards quickly and unable to match cards to cards because I onl had 1 card at a time. nice job!
The volume slider in options don't seem to work
Amazing presentation, I absolutely love the aesthetics of the game.
The concept is good but I very often ended up in situations where the cards just did not line up. If you plan to continue developing this game, add some way to manipulate deck to give more control to the player and less to RNG.
Overall, very neat experience and amazing music.
We had more cards planned that would help with the RNG, but were dropped as our time dwindled. Cards that would redraw your hand, make all flowers wild (like a timed invincibility) and another idea to use matched sets in your hand to do things (points, new cards, wild card, etc.)
@Plopsis thanks for letting us know - I'll take a look today and see if I can fix the volume slider.
nice game ;)
Clever. I had fun. I think the music could've been a little more fleshed out and there could've been like some audio feedback to help you know if you're keeping the rhythm. Very unique indeed and you combined the genres quite well. Come check out my game at: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/dating-sim-hell
I was a bit afraid to try this out at the other rhythm/card combinations I've tried were not so fresh, but this - this I got hooked to. I loved the graphics and the music, and the gameplay was a lot more accessible than I had feared. Great job!
@fasterthanlime hey thanks! We were also totally worried, but the challenge to find a happy medium between RNG and rhythm was too good to pass up. Really glad you enjoyed it!
Hey, we made the same game! haha I like that yall have wild cards and make a whole new theme on top of the guitar hero (the plants instead of notes). I feel like the difficulty, especially for easy, is still too hard. Good job overall!
I really liked the visuals of the game! Once you get into the flow of the beat things go smoothly! My only nitpick would be on the music itself, I felt that the highs were way too loud. Fortunately you set an volume option inside the game, so it was not something that has disturbed that much my game experience.
The game was not that hard and was quite balanced to be honest :)
Congratulations on the project!
Thanks @Richard N Silva - we're still working out how all the audio settings actually work in Unity, and I totally noticed that too. Glad you enjoyed the game!
I don't know why easy mode is harder than hard mode?
Interesting gameplay, i had fun playing with it. It's a bit mind-blowin' though, even in easy difficulty, because it goes fast x)
I enjoyed the artwork and mechanics. It took me until reading the comments that I didn't need to match the flowers with the cards. After that this game became addictive. Great game!
I may be bad at this game, but at least I'm having a good rump headbanging to the tunes

This has been one of my favorite games this time around so far. Not only does it has cool music, it has difficulty selection, card management, strategy and rhythm combined with cutesy looks. Even after reading the instructions I struggled a few rounds to comprehend what was going on or what I was meant to do, but once it started rolling, it couldn't be stopped.
I'm not really sure of what kind of feedback to give to a project like this. Given the time, it's actually fantastic. It'd be great to see this expanded into something more later down.
Once again, great work on making it to the jam. Indeed, I wouldn't have expected the "Hero" games to be about flowers, and this blew my mind. [My team](twitter.com/whalesandgames) would really love to check more projects from you later on. Cheers! :whale:
@Mau - the short answer to your question is Not Enough Playtesting. :) We actually didn't gauge the songs. By the end, we just stuck them in.
@HPMNK and @BalladofSong thanks so much for the feedback. I think adding a learning level to this game would be really really helpful. Something with feedback, and more explosions and slower music.
@Moski that's really high praise coming from you guys. Your work is really inspiring. I've followed you on twitter and will keep an eye out for your projects. Thank you!
rhythm games arent usually my thing but i totally dig the characters and good vibes in the game :D
I’m not sure if you were able to see it, but I played your game on my stream at https://www.twitch.tv/saoigames tonight.
From the screen shots I was so excited about this game. Guitar Hero meets plants versus zombies, but the execution did not live up to my expectations. I was confused at first about how to play the cards and thought I had to play the correct card. I'd recommend controlling the first appearance to being all the same plant and all the same cards and then have helper text pop up telling the player that they can play any card and keep the same flower cards but have new flowers come in so that the player learns that they can play any card, but score points for matches.
Really strong entry, the concepts works well and is well executed. I also loved the graphics, and the overall aesthethics, remind me a bit some Nintendo games. Good work !
I left my rating of your game, if you can leave your feedback in our game, Witch's Escape.
I hope you continue with the project.

Holy crap I am bad at this game.
I would make easy easier. Like much easier. I can't multitask and don't do rhythm games well, so I think I hit the first flower, panicked, then missed the next 5, causing me to lose instantly. The second attempt was better, but I really can't play this game.
The music was awesome and the graphics were great. I'm amazed that some people have minds that can play these types of games.
I agree that a little more feedback on the flowers you hit and the ones that you didn't would be nice. I also think that a new card could be dealt to the empty spot faster. But this was excellent!
Interesting concept...Medium difficulty seemed by far to be the hardest one.
I see you have also elected to see what kind of wackiness can be had with a card game. This is pretty neat, and a bold choice to mix these genres. I think this would work a little better with fewer flower colors, because currently you end up mismatching more often then matching. Losing a hand slot after each miss is pretty brutal, but it was good attempt to feed back rhythm performance to the card portion. Maybe something like 3 strikes to lose a hand slot would feel a bit more forgiving. The music and graphics are great! And I think with some tweaks this could be really fun!
That's a really nice cutesy well-executed game! Really cool! I enjoyed that - it was lagging a bit through the HTML5 build but I got an old PC so - I don't have that many criticisms [for once ^^#], it's a nice concept that looks well-polished... good job :-D
