LD37 — One room

At Night They Come by Gamechoy 2016-12-18T16:41:00

It was funny idea with hidden buttons in main menu. To other commenters: you can shoot in 8 directions. I liked the music. I liked the effect of transparent wall, too. Nice game.

Hamsterical Nuts by mirta000 2016-12-21T09:50:00

Nice, colorful game. I really like the animations of the hamster, spitting nuts and running looks good. Good thing that the bed can block for a moment the flying enemies, I used it to my advantage.

the beuys are back in town by tylerdoggone 2016-12-15T20:40:00

Really unique game. It's the third game I check in this LD, and I really hope there are more LD games just as unique as this. And now I'm going to read more nore about Joseph Beuys.

the beuys are back in town by tylerdoggone 2016-12-15T20:42:00

Oh, and I love the music.

Painted Red by V0odo0 2016-12-24T21:08:00

That was intense. I felt stressed. I remember beginning of "Fahrenheit", and I must say you did a really good job here. Congrats.

SpaceBeaver by OWC 2016-12-16T20:49:00

Really nice graphics. I liked the intro. Gameplay for me is difficult, but I assume that if you had more time, then it would be more balanced. Overall it looks really good, I like the fast gameplay too.

Disaster Drinks by Notester 2016-12-18T16:26:00

The question mark wasn't clear for me too. Good idea with functionality of speeding up the conveyor belt.

Decube by ato 2016-12-13T21:41:00

@TheHighChairs: I realized today, that not moving can be a strategy. That would be one of the first things I would improve.
@Nexus64: to be honest when I play any shmup I expect that walls will kill me instantly. I didn't think it could be any other way, but I'll consider it, thanks :). About the lightning: I think that "Windows" version has some bug with lighting, it looks different than on the screenshots. Maybe you saw the bug too.

Thank you both for your comments. I'll check your games too :).

Decube by ato 2016-12-16T11:37:00

@tylerdoggone
I thought about player influencing cube too. Actually cube rotation is directly affected by player's actions but it's not communicated in any way to the player. I'm gonna play with the concept after the compo probably.
@stupidmindlessf
@Notester
Looking at the comments I realize that the game is too difficult. It would help if someone other than me would play test it before submitting. To be honest I was working on the difficulty during final hour of the compo. It's something to improve on in the next LD.

Decube by ato 2016-12-18T12:16:00

@Gamechoy
I changed controls. Haven't thought about ctrl+w combination. Thanks.
@mooncalf
Ah, death walls. I really would like to change them, but I think it would be against the rules. Or wouldn't it?

Thank you both for your opininons.

Decube by ato 2016-12-20T07:46:00

@Berbecarul
I'm sorry if you felt intimidated, but that's the cube boss' job :). I destroyed him a couple of times, maybe that will make you feel better.
@antishow
It seems a little too difficult for me too (although the game is finishable). I'd lower the difficulty if I could.

Decube by ato 2016-12-20T12:17:00

@Testlab
I see that it can be frustrating. I'll experiment some more with difficulty in post-jam version.
@ionprodan
Thanks. I am happy with the result.

Decube by ato 2016-12-20T17:29:00

@JesseyCool, @Almax27
I see how it could get boring :). I really wanted to add more firing patterns. I just didn't make it in time (poor time management, lesson learnt for next LD). With other firing patterns, which I tested, it was much more difficult, so I left my initial patterns. That's why there's not much variety in attacks.

Decube by ato 2016-12-22T21:44:00

@SimonHutchinson
I don't like bullet hell either. I should've worked on bullet patterns earlier instead of testing them in last hour. Only one side of the cube has really hard firing pattern but it can be destroyed earlier by accident, and I guess most people didn't even see the hardest side of the cube :).

@Captain Awesome
Yes, it's not that hard. If I'll ever work on post-jam version, I'll try some ideas which would spice up the game, and practically block possibility of "stay-in-place" technique, heh.

Decube by ato 2016-12-28T18:31:00

@edve98
I'll try adding some kind of hp to the player ship in post jam version.
@ema1ih
I am happy with how the animations ended up, too.
@Cole and Jordan Studios, @mirta000
I'll experiment with the difficulty in post jam version.

Voyage by TitoMakaniJr 2016-12-16T20:01:00

I really liked the graphics style. Did you make the music? I liked it too. If yes, then what music software did you use?
Looking at the visual side reminded me of Space Quest I. Of course, your graphics is much more detailed, but that was the connection that I did in my mind. Really nice game.

Elevator Samba by euske 2016-12-22T11:15:00

Nice little game. Idea I haven't seen before. I liked the music and sprites. It really looked like an 80s game, not only stylized as such.

Abandon Ship by drakekin 2016-12-19T23:28:00

I played Windows version. After few tries controls were very intuitive for me. Unfortunately I started to move freely so quick that I started to feel nausea :). It's not the game's fault. I feel like it while playing some games sometimes. I'd like to play some AAA game with that controls, heh.

The Wiggle Room by panurge 2016-12-20T11:47:00

I really liked your sense of humor. Contestants' descriptions and ending screen text were great. Game would be also fun in some kind of multiplayer mode. Fun game.

Obelisk by Almax27 2016-12-21T09:16:00

Good graphics, I liked the music choice. Fluent gameplay. Fun game.

The Final Room by greysphere 2016-12-19T23:50:00

I really liked it. Rules are easy, but game is not that easy. It has a lot of potential. Good game!

Janusz: The handyman simulator by RootKiller 2016-12-15T21:11:00

It's the first time that I see the great polish Janusz in any game. You may be on to something. Fun idea. Congratulations :)

The Coldest Cabin by Brian Mayberry 2016-12-22T21:17:00

Nice graphics, and atmosphere. I event started feeling a little cold maybe. Sound fx are funny. I didn't make it to da choppa, I had 9 seconds left. Good game!

Xenopunch by Pietro Ferrantelli 2016-12-16T21:05:00

Amazing work for three days time. I played much longer than I expected too. Respect, guys.

Welcome Home by sportsquid 2016-12-24T20:22:00

I really liked the game's conclusion. Maybe it's better that it has no sound, otherwise you would probably used some annoying autogenerated a'la 8bit sounds (just like I did with bfxr :)). I liked that you gave so much money to start with. Good luck with your essay.

Huge & Cute by michidk 2016-12-20T11:10:00

Really fun game. I even felt it finished too quickly, I wanted more levels. Graphics gave me "Monument Valley" vibes. I really liked graphic and puzzle design of your game.

Mouse Trap by mrwillowb 2016-12-20T12:06:00

The game reminded me of some early pc games like "Tom & Jerry: Yankee Doodle Cat-astrophe". Even music sounds like played by "pc speaker". I like the GUI. I really enjoyed playing this game, so your 40 hours wasn't a waste of time :). Good game.

use your IMAGINATION, quick!!!! by sepharoth213 2016-12-20T12:12:00

Realistic graphics :). I wouldn't want to be in that room with all that furniture flying. Congratulations on finishing the game.

A Bear, a Beard, and a lot of Chainsaws by elkiwydev 2016-12-22T10:59:00

Fast and brutal. I liked that the house was demolishable. It was a little too hard for me to dodge the bullets in 3rd wave, but with more practice I could probably beat the game. Nice sprite work.

Super Boss Room by seurimas 2016-12-20T14:38:00

I, too, think that shooting with mouse would make controls more comfortable. But, the game would be too easy (imo) then, and it would need something to balance the difficulty. Whole idea of controlling the boss sounds really fun for me. I don't know many games around that idea. I had fun playing your game.

Recursion by KaiseanGames 2016-12-18T16:11:00

I liked it. I used hints after puzzle with lenses (which I liked). It's impressive that essentially every puzzle is different. Nice music choice.

One Room At A Time by Coomzy 2016-12-20T15:06:00

I got "Pacifist" and "Intuitive". I am a big fan of Metal Gear Solid, and I like stealth games in general. I liked this game, too. I even wanted it to be longer, but 48 hours is 48 hours.

Final Boss by Karai17 2016-12-21T09:40:00

I very much liked the graphics, palette reminded me of some Zelda games. Gameplay is solid, although for me it's a little too hard. That is undertandable though, it's the final boss :).

The Last Heretics by Captain Awesome 2016-12-22T21:06:00

The mood is great, driven mainly by terriffic background music and lighting. Game was running slow for me, but fixing it was only a matter of proper configuration (lowest resolution windowed, lowest graphics quality). Even on lowest settings the game looked good. Unfortunately gameplay was lacking some polish. My guy had attacks blocked until I would move. Enemies started flying at one time :). If more time was spent on gameplay the game would be even better. It's looking good and it's vert moody now.

Tiny House by ChatPion 2016-12-20T14:58:00

Nice graphics. It reminded me of "Sokoban" (not only me, I guess). I live in a small room, so I know the problem of moving furniture in small space from experience. One thing that was missing for me, was some kind of restart button. It's no big deal though, because I just restarted the game. Other than that it's really fun logic game.

Unwelcome by Louspirit 2016-12-19T23:45:00

I was smiling during the emergency call. After a while there was a lot of enemies outside the ship and I didn't know what to do. I kept killing them, but I couldn't see the end to them. Maybe I didn't play long enough. Funny game, though.

Conduction by superjai 2016-12-16T20:53:00

Original idea, at least for me. I didn't have anyone to play with, so I can judge only single player mode. I liked it. Great sprite work.

emily VS everything by mooncalf 2016-12-18T17:03:00

Really nice sprites and animations. I played even to see next level with next background. I liked that player could evolve after every level. Nice music, too. Fun game.

Hitlers Cactus or only you can stop Trump by stupidmindlessf 2016-12-18T12:42:00

Nice graphics, pleasant music, cool time travel effect, and the game is really funny. I couldn't finish it after few tries. I'll think about solution and try finishing it later. Some kind of hint system might be helpful, but I like the game as it is, requires to think for a while.

Spell Bear by torcado 2016-12-22T21:36:00

I had fun playing this game. I wanted to see what's next, so it sucked me in. I see that you are long time LD participant. It shows in this game, you know what you're doing, and you're doing it good :).

The Mini-Man 3D by adrian09_01 2016-12-18T17:30:00

I liked the level design, colors choice made it nice to look at. Enemies could be a little smaller, but I don't mind difficult games. About the music: at the beginning I really liked it. I respect that you made it yourself. But after playing for a while it was a bit annoying (it didn't make me stop playing :), so it's a just a tiny little opinion). Overall: good game, I had fun platforming, and that's what you probably aimed for.

Box Kingdom by Nordic Ninja 2016-12-19T23:05:00

It's not easy to figure out what to do, but it's by design of course. I liked the mood overall.

Room Messers by Nexus64 2016-12-15T20:27:00

Fun idea, I haven't seen that one before. Nice calming music, funny sound effects, and pleasant color palette.

Pollock Rush by Cole and Jordan Studios 2016-12-21T10:01:00

That was unexpected. I liked the music, it was really fitting the whole experience. Pogo is a tough one :).

Nightly Routines by Gyfis 2016-12-16T20:35:00

I (as the others) saw the idea of the game as original. I liked the sprite work. It was a bit hard for me too. I didn't get that you have to interact with item in the given order (socks->shirt->jeans). Maybe displaying the items with numbers (1.socks|2.shits|3.jeans) or arrows would help me. But that's just one small thought. Maybe I'm the only who didn't get it. Otherwise, nice game. (And "hi" from your northern neighbour - Poland).

Santas Little Helper by sP0CkEr2 2016-12-18T17:15:00

Nice game. I liked the speed of difficulty progression. Nice sprites, reminded me of some ZX80 or C64 games. Congratulations to the whole team. Bonus points from me for christmas themed game :).

RoomBash by Ian Morrison 2016-12-20T08:01:00

Cool idea. I liked the flying enemies' model and behaviour, although they weren't easy to kill by punch (but easier to kill with by wall).

Fish Physics by avalkyrie 2016-12-20T07:52:00

Simple, but funny. There's a room for more buttons, maybe adding other fishes, or cat, or catapult. It's a real playground, sandbox type of game. I like it.

One room Ninja by indrkl 2016-12-22T11:43:00

Introduction to the game was great, whole tutorial sequence. I tried finishing it with eyes closed, but I failed :).
