Fun game and fun concept !
Graphics and music are nice too.

grandtheftmarmot 2016-12-13 23:42

I absolutely love how it starts with the last level each time. That's so amazingly cool and inspiring. Great everything.

Great game with a genius mechanic, I managed to get all the way to end but there's no way I'm able to do the blindfold level.

Despite this, I really enjoyed playing, the way it taught each part of the level to me as i went along was amazing and the graphics and audio were pretty on point.

Overall a great game that I feel could be expanded into a full release.

topatisen 2016-12-14 16:58

Starting with the last level is really interesting, after all the "levels" I had no problem with the last level, did not finish the blindfolded one though, I'm not a real ninja probably!
Overall great game, the teaching with the level design is really interesting, great job!

I liked the graphics and the animation. However there are some control problems. The jumps (which are the main part of the game) are quite hard to control. First, there seems to be a small delay between the time I press the key and the actual jump. Then, if you are too close to a wall, the ninja almost do not jump. When I play such a game, it is nice to keep the direction pressed, it gives more rhythm to the game. Here I had to stop, get back, jump, stop again... It is frustrating when you die because of that. I also think you have a problem with hitboxes. Sometimes, I had the feeling that the arrow just went through my head.
About music, it is fine. However, voices are annoying after some minutes because they speak too often and it is always the same thing.
Finally, the theme. There are multiple rooms. I know the background is the same, blablabla,... I think the theme is here to challenge us and force us to be creative. There are plenty of jumping ninja, you need to find a way to be special.
I hope it will help you for next time ;) You have plenty of good things inside.

I like the game, but I couldn't help but feel that I was fighting the controls rather than the levels.

archonthewizard 2016-12-14 20:37

The game is glitching for me. As soon as I hit a direction, I just teleport off screen. I won't rate it, since I wasn't able to play.

shivur 2016-12-14 20:42

Fun game. Carefull with the collision precision.

sundr0 2016-12-14 22:14

Really cool game even though the physics has a bit too much inertia ! Loved the humor anyway ! =)

peredm 2016-12-15 20:38

Amazing game but the movement feels a bit wrong. I don't know exactly how to say it but I think it's the physics that make it feel unnatural. Probably changing some numbers will improve the game feel. Other than that, the game is fun and the art is nice, but adding some innovative mechanics would make it even better.

ayxs 2016-12-15 20:56

fun game and fun concept controls sometimes a bit wonky but a good entry nontheless

stupidmindlessf 2016-12-15 20:59

Gorgeous animations and great art. Gameplay is brutal but well done. Interesting concept with the rooom getting destroyed and you building it up again (or whatever is happening).
cool game!

Tutorial was well done, introducing each of the gameplay elements and traps. The platforming didn't feel great. Specifically, pressing left/right then hitting up gives you a smaller jump than just pressing up - that doesn't seem intended.

indrkl 2016-12-17 14:07

Thanks for all the feedback, We're aware now that the controls needed some more work, definitly gonna use that in future jams. Reason was cos we used quite a lot of physics, generally you want to avoid jumping into walls, and when you speed up before jump it helps you jump further left/right.

bigbuggames 2016-12-17 16:53

Feeling like a ninja already! Starting at the final level is a good approach to show the player what the game and skills required will come to be. Good job on the graphics also.

indrkl 2016-12-17 22:59

About the delay, we use acceleration for moving left/right, so that's whats causing the slight delay, propably won't do that again.

plugrobots 2016-12-18 12:08

Hard but fun) Great idea about the jam theme

darenn 2016-12-18 12:17

Nice Idea ! At first by seeing the first level, I thought wow... it will be hard. But the fact that after that the room is empty, and objects are added to make the level more and more difficult to finaly become the first level help me to succeed. The voice was cool, sound were nice, maybe a music would be good. I found hard to controle the jump of the ninja sometimes... And I don't achieve the blindfold level ;) Keep creating games !

berbecarul 2016-12-18 18:34

Fun game. I love the art and sound assets, however the jumping feels a bit sticky, especially when jumping near a wall.

mrmordem 2016-12-19 02:17

Nice job.
I like this kind of concept, it can be replayable, it's pretty dynamic, I mean you jump > you die > you respawn and hop hop hop.

There is no real "down-time" making it quite addictive "I'll just try this again quickly... aaaand I tried 10 times".

The sounds are nice and the voice over is pretty cool. Just a personal thing though, a button to mute / decrease the volume would be nice.

The game mechanics feel fine, it's a bit hard at times to make the right "jump" but it's OK overall. You can get easily what you have to do and how.

sandbloom 2016-12-19 11:25

It's funny! And the blindfoled mode is an awesome idea!

aemiliu5 2016-12-19 17:20

nice menu music! and nice work on the animations! well done!

bigpan 2016-12-19 23:01

I've had a couple issues with the collision system, but overall it's a good game and you guys should be proud of it, well done!

studdert249 2016-12-20 08:59

A fun little game, I quite enjoyed the tutorial levels building up the level. Though, as others have said the controls felt a little off and having w as the jump key felt a little awkward to me.

miaw 2016-12-20 12:26

A fun little platformer. Made me yell "shit!" a couple times lol. But yeah, the controls are a bit iffy (delays and diagonal jumps not registering as how I thought it should), but I guess other commenters have commented that. Personally, I prefer spacebar as the jump key.

Funny voice acting though, lol.

oddly-shaped-pixels 2016-12-20 17:07

Sadly, the controls and physics are not precise enough for a game solely based on platforming.
But I like the idea of the level building up piece by piece after showing it to you entirely at first, and there are some nice level design ideas. Keep up the good work!

handoharken 2016-12-21 19:18

It matched the theme well, and rebuilding the level piece by pieces was a cool tutorial mechanic. Controls were fine but could space also be a jump key :)

neon 2016-12-21 21:13

The concept of adding stuff to the level to teach new things is really good, kind of reminds me of the way Portal teaches new mechanics. The graphics are pretty nice, and the sounds are pretty nice, especially the narration. The jumping felt a bit off, I would guess it's a combination of bad maneuverability in air + low gravity. Still, overall a very nice game.

allwoodgamedev 2016-12-22 03:48

Good game! love the graphics and the concept

ato 2016-12-22 11:43

Introduction to the game was great, whole tutorial sequence. I tried finishing it with eyes closed, but I failed :).

ijzm 2016-12-28 05:01

I like the idea of starting with the hard level first, then breaking it down to the basics when you die and adding piece by piece as you beat it. That seemed like a great setup for the theme.

The biggest issue I had with the game is that most of my failures came from clunky controls and not the game design itself. Jumping was very hard to execute, and even more difficult to not do twice in a row. Also landing at the ends of platforms often caused me to slide right off them, thus adding further to the frustration.

I did enjoy the narration and laughed a ton when the ninja died. I know I know; I'm sadistic. Sometimes, when the ninja collapsed, he would phase through the boxes and that was pretty funny.

The graphics are really well done! Those wood textures are beautiful! :O

Controls I found a bit slow, but they didn't interfere with the overall experience of the game! :)

Really nice the way you introduced progress through the game, by increasing the difficulty of the room!

Good work! :)

Challenging game! I included it in my compilation video series of the Ludum Dare 37 games, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/dPGA6ze9lwQ
