Hanami - Push-Up Farming by Beavl 2015-12-21T16:38:00
Very funny, but it's quite easy to just tap in the rhythm and go with it. Overall, well done. 24 was my top score before I decided that it was enough.

The sound is so amazing! I'm still laughing. Great game
Woo! Best game I've played so far, and I really really like it! The gameplay was super relaxing and very intuitive, and the final scenes were very nice :) Great job!
It's hard to control, it's hard to play, but I like it! I mean, how many times in your life you control a (as time goes by) giant worm?
I think a background track would be perfect, to accompany the included sound effects, which were awesome! Really the highlight of the game, which turned from two-buttons to many-buttons growing :) pretty graphics as well, but some kind of a challenge or goal would be nice, as was already written, to improve the overall experience - perhaps a time limit?
You have a bad link posted for the mac version - it should be _Mac, not MAC (or rename the file :)). Otherwise, very nice take on the pinball theme, really enjoyed it! Nice graphics, the flow - well done!
The controls are great. However, it gets a little boring after some time. Good job though.
Nice start! I'd enjoy to play a full game of this. What seems off is that the asteroids really lose speed when I release them - perhaps some confusion between angular and linear velocity?
yeah, WebGL verison doesn't work
I think it's more than difficult to develop a puzzle game in such limited time. Thanks for that! However, I can't figure out how the game is about growing or two buttons control...
Actually not very innovative, however, funny. I think the dog image could be either high-resolutional or change as the pug grows.
Very good! Simple concept, but well executed... It is so punishing to fail, and forces gentleness. Difficult, I could probably beat it if I played long enough, but I don't have that much time now.
Wow! Spectacular game, please make a standalone version that can be played for more time! Really love the idea!
Good concept! Punishing for simple and small mistakes, but good :)
The graphics is great, however, one must get used to the controls little bit in order to perform well. Good job.
Well done! I really like the way you used only 2 buttons while casting multiple spells. Really great concept.
Nice game and art. However, it gets stale quite quickly...
The WebGL version freezes after like 6s of gameplay. Could you fix that pls? (Windows 10, 64b, Chrome)
Very nice little game! I like the fact that there were multiple two-button mechanics in one game, well done!
The game is rather simple but it works and I played a while :) I think some animations or at least different car colors would make the experience better.
The game is rather simple but it works and I played a while :) I think some animations or at least different car colors would make the experience better.
Very interesting gameplay! It kept me going only for the reason of the non intuitive game mechanics, and I've kept going till score 15, when I said that was enough for me. Solid one for the time spent, well done!
Very nice game! In 2 hours, great job! My max score is 6, btw :D
Pretty cool concept. I like the graphics and the way you merged both topics. I suggest adding some funny music to the background :)
It was ok, though I didn't see the reason for the differently colored collectibles. You could iterate on the key-down and key-up callbacks though, I can imagine it being done a bit better.
Very good game mechanisms and level design! But crashed and also, and the spikes are way too dangerous...
pretty cool, I like the graphics and sound :)
Very nice game! Like the flow of it, and the graphics form a great mood! Way to go!
Well done! Nice game, also hard as hell - my personal best (Tomas) is 36, and that's it. The spikes are terrible traps! Way to go!
Like other mentioned, this heavily misses some kind of a goal, or at least an indicator - also the door were very subtly hidden in the game. I like the graphics though, very nice, and also enjoyed the camera movement (although it was laggy, but that's my fault). Good proof of concept, overall!
Great game! A nice little strategy, pretty difficult to balance the actions... With some additional features, it could be a fun little thing to pass time repeatedly :)
Cool. Even though I don't know what that little alien or so is, I love it.
Same as @manabreak - I don't know how to build farms. It's fun though.
I think it's good concept but I the game is unfinished (as it is written in the description above). There's no sound and the graphics could be better. I don't follow how it is connected to two-button controls or growing. Anyway, I think if you had had 8 more hours you could make it really well playable.
Over 2 thousands lbs, was wondering if the game would stop there. I enjoyed the graphics but an indicator or a win weight (where you could eat the little ant chefs around you) would make this more complete imho. Well done!
Oh this is really great. I love the graphics. Moreover, there's a non-trivial AI. Really nice job. Gonna play it again soon.
Good concept! It shows the option of life to pass time to grow up vs. trying to go and enjoy all things. Simple, but entertaining.
Great implementation of both themes and an original concept. However, it doesn't fit my slightly smaller resolution (1366*768), and a replay button would be nice.
I like the effects, the partial sound synchronization was nice (I like the idea of sfx forming bgm), but it get repetetive quite fast, and it was a bit boring around score 500. Still, a nice game!
Very nice concept!! I really like the sync, though there is a subtle 'lag' between loop - would be great if you could eliminate and create truly seamless looping! The experience could be balanced better as well, but I really enjoyed this! Thanks!
Very nice game! Took me two iterations to beat the level with limit 7, but otherwise pretty straightforward. I like the gameplay, I'd be interested in continuous growing of the vine, decreasing the 'sun' in time (just like clock), so that you would have to only take directions.
Nice concept - the controls were refreshing. The only thing I didn't like was the 'hit' sound - very annoying for me.
Very nice art work, sound effects all fixed up, nice and interesting story and gameplay - though it crashed on the portal (windows 10 64-bit) and sometimes the one-tile tunnel is not large enough to go through. Overall - well done!
Love the music! The grass tiles could be little more nice, but water effect is cool :)
Nice game! Pretty hard - as other have mentioned, it would be better if the camera was larger, but very well done, I enjoyed playing this.
Nice game, though I can imagine the graphics being a bit better. What I didn't really like was the position of the hands being different vertically than the position of the shadows - that really confused my gaming intuition! Overall, pretty good! I like the sounds.
Nice little game you got here - although it took me a while to get used to playing it on trackpad! Would be better with mouse :)
Interesting mechanic, good luck next time!
Interesting concept, I like the graphics and the music. What I'd improve though is a score or some indicator of an end (I had to play 3 times to see if the x is the end or the first obstacle), and also perhaps adding some procedurally generated maps, so you're not limited by the size of your own made map. Very nice, overall!
Nice! Played several times already.
Interesting gameplay, though unfortunate position of some arrows got me stuck close to the end.
Nice little game! I think that if enhanced with better scoring system, powerups, more gestues and better music, it can be a full (and well paid) game on mobile!
Oh this is great. And I'm #4 (petrbel). Really great concept. Of course, lvl 7 is really WTF :D Gonna play again soon.
Another post from the same team (nickname #Gyfis), after recommendation - I've just beaten my teammate (so now I'm #4 -Gyfis, and petrbel is #5 :), and I must confirm this game is really dupe! Way to go!
Very nice game! Really enjoyed playing it, and I really like the graphics too!
Pretty nice game! I'd enjoy music or sounds, though I know it can be very time-demanding to have those made by yourself, and my eyes are going a bit sideways from that background, but the graphics and their detail is very cool!
Pretty simple controls, but very hard to play - I didn't like the fact that you could not land on the blocks with same color as the ground, that was confusing. What I DID like, though, was the detail with which you took care of the effects!
Love the theme of Vikings! Also good game mechanism "learn by dying" :)
Web version works well for me. It's nice little game, I like it. I think music is quite cool and the controls are great.
The controls are clear, and after 73 fails, I've finished the Level 15 (or 16?) and finished the game. I was thinking I'd quit, but something kept me going, and I have to say that apart from the very annoying sound effects, this game is cool!
It resembled a similar game with fishes - which I like, so this is nice as well! I'd create a larger map, and perhaps a more cruel starvation curve :) But overall, well done!
Very interesting puzzle mechanic, enjoyed every level! Would play more!
What I really like is the sound when you almost finish the level :D Very similar to Homer's "dough"!
I like this! The fact that you only have to open a .html file and play is awesome, and the sounds were a nice touch as well.
It was hard for me to understand the mechanics at first, and though the concept sounds interesting, it needs a bit more in the execution to be truly enjoyable.
Interesting game, couldn't get past platform 2 in the time limit though! Well done!
Pretty cool gameplay. I think it has a potential as a mobile game.
I haven't expected many first-person games. Great! It somehow reminds me Carmageddon :)
Nice game! The powerups are pretty hard to catch, but otherwise it's enjoyable, even with the not very easy controls.
The graphics is unbelievable! I really love it. Moreover, the background piano music is very relaxing (but it could vary more). Really great game, I love playing it again and again.
@Dejvo: Thanks for the comment! Because of other matters, we weren't able to work on the game for the full three days, and the rest of the devs didn't even see Unity before the start, so it's a great accomplishment for us - though you are totally right, that the game could be polished more! Hopefully the next time we'll figure out the timing better! Take care, Tomas
@Mantlair - sorry, there's only so much space for the sources here on LD. We do provide a 32-bit version of our game for Windows, but thanks for letting us know it's hard to be found! Here's the link, following the nomenclature of the rest of our urls: https://github.com/randomgamers/GMOOvergrowth/releases/download/v1.0/Windows32.zip
Quite hard but overall very entertaining. Couldn't grab the sword, though... The pixel art was perfect!
Very nice game - enjoyed playing this a lot!
Hey guys, pretty cool game. The title really got me :D I like both the graphics and the gameplay itself.
I love the Hard mode! This could be a really great mobile game. Hope you also export it for android etc.
Fun mechanic! It grows quite stale, though
Phew, pretty hard - definitely harder than it looks! Well done! Took me rather some time to win the 18 medium points - anything above is pure crazy.
Sweet memories of the Nokia game :D Solid Compo contribution :)
The game is missing a lot - though I can see the potential - I suppose you wanted the sun to attack not the 'dragon', but the 'eggs', and you could kill the attacking 'sun' with your invisible 'dragon flame'? Anyway - good luck next time!
Nice game! Enjoyed playing this a lot! Thanks! What I'd change is the ratio between sfx and background music volume, and also the little dots were pretty hard to kill!
+1 for linux version! Great gameplay. I miss some sounds though.
Reaching sun is cool :) Funny graphics and straightforward controls.
Nice game, though a bit confusing from the start. I've encountered some bugs - even though I connected all the shapes, it didn't go through.
I feel the laser is too powerful and it's making the game too easy in the beginning, but still good work, especially with the graphics
Good game, although sometimes, the camera doesn't focus on the player, so you can't see him as he almost leave the screen.
Overall the idea is pretty cool.
Pretty cool game! I really like the time limit. It's not common at LD. Thumbs up.
Flawless! The game is awesome, I laughed so hard playing it.
Just minor bugs - spawning elephant near tho border and some other minor issues, but it was cool. Thank you so much!
Very nice entry, great atmosphere
As mentioned earlier, the cool thing is that you don't change yourself but the obstacles! Really cool idea.
Awesome game! Loved the idea, graphics. Thank you!
I really enjoyed this! Well done - the bust is a killer, though!
After fixing the screen size, I enjoyed this game! Thanks!
Thumbs up for flashing warning :) pretty well done, but the webgl version is so laggy it's almost impossible to play.
Good entry! Enjoyed the idea of mixing colors very much!
Nice job! The game is really fun to play. Thank you!
Nice concept for puzzle game. I encountered a bug when two or more walls are generated right behind each other, so even if I squeezed into the first gap I would immediately lose.
Very nice take on the theme!
Neat game, it is getting more and more challenging. Good graphics
Made it to 73... At the end it is way more harder than it seems at the first sight.
Unfortunately the game does not fit the window in the WebGL.
Overall the game has neat minimalistic graphic and easy, yet very challenging mechanics.
Cool innovative concept, i like the sound. The game is pretty hard though.
I'm impressed by random levels. The graphics is pretty :)
I really enjoyed this little game. It's cool that you added multiple levels!
Great characters and overall graphics, well thought behaving of bullets... I enjoyed this a lot! Well done and thanks!
Loved this, the game mechanic, art style, music, dialogues. Wish there were more levels. Great Job!
Awesome graphics and sounds, good job.
Fun to play, kind of neat graphics. Probably adding sound would move it to another level, but appart from that good job.
I liked it except the fact that the shapes spawned up my ass and insta hit me. Not so cool.
Very good gameplay, challenging and fun at the same time, nice job!
Sound and background music would improve game experience a lot. Try to add some :)
Not bad for a first entry!
It is so pleasant to play this game, the music, very slow smooth movements, cute blue fox. Love it!
Overall, nice entry. I like the idea though the random engine could be a bit more thought through.
Not bad, though some parts of the game could do with a remake.
Oh I enjoyed this very much! Great work, thanks a lot for this contribution!
Good game. The idea of shape-shifting the map is really nice.
Figuring out what to do or where to go is pretty challenging. I really miss some kind of tutorial or menu. Anyway the game is pretty innovative and fun.
Great, love the graphics and overall art style.
I really like this one. The graphics and the feel to the game are great! Well done!
Pretty hard game at the end - gonna buy new keyboard :D
Cool game, i love it!
Awesome puzzle game with innovative mechanic, sometimes hard to control the objects precisely but overall very good.
Wow, this really has a scary atmosphere. Could use some polishing and maybe more locations, but overall a cool idea.
The game looks nice, but I didn't particularly enjoy the randomness of it. Still, it has a very nice feel to it.
Second level seems to be glitched, can't win, can't lose, stuck forever
Solid entry thought it was a bit unclear what to do.
Solid entry for the first time!
Can't see the connection to the theme, but with upcoming summer this is what we need :D Really relaxing.
Wow, that was quite hard! Not that enjoyable with a trackpad. Score 111.
Great story/tutorial. Fun music, cool graphics and incredible void animation :D love that! it's pretty innovative as well
Difficult but very fun! Bloody controller with different mapping destroyed me though - the hints were not that useful.
Cool TD. Good job.
I really enjoyed this! Simple but very nice! You can rack up the score in the middle of the shapes, which I think is the only way someone could get 132 score, as mentioned in comments!
Well done, even more so if it took you only 6 hours. Would be nice if different shapes behaved differently
Kind of fun/weird to play. Great game!
Great idea! However, I experienced a lot of bugs such as I was able to easily leave my space etc. The audio is so annoying I love it :D Great job. Would be a great mobile game.
Well, what a weird game. I don't know what to do and how to escape the first room, but it is pretty intense anyway. The sound is soooo weird :D
What an idea! The speech is so funny. The idea is overall hilarious.
Great! And pretty challenging. Love that. Also would be a great mobile game.
I don't get the relation to the theme, however it is somehow innovative. I like the 3D environment. On the other hand, I find the brush controls little bit clumsy.
The controls definitely have a learning curve! Nice animation of the player.
Nice game! I thought for a moment that the other characters are other players - you should try to make this connected to a server and a multiplayer :) that'd be fun I think
I really like the game! I played this kind of games before and enjoyed it but this one seems polished which is nice for the time given to the competition. I also like that it pretty directly fits into the theme. Thanks for the game!
@kramdar : A little advice if you want to try again - you don't have to take all the hostages at once :) kudos to @petr-belohlavek, our main level designer, who thought all this through.
@kramdar Damn, that's right, I think we should've mentioned this explicitly... well, good to remember for the next time :) thanks!
@jasperarmstrong Thanks for running from the source! I spent a day post-jam trying to bundle the game for os x and it didn't lead to any success unfortunately, even though the game itself runs smoothly when run from source. It's definitely something I'd like to follow-up should we use PyGame again!
I really enjoyed this game! The more you hit the boxes the less you see, nice concept! Thanks for the game :)
Nice idea for the puzzle, also clear meaning for the LD#40 topic, good job!
Great concept, really like this one!
When I started the game, I didn't really understand cause the paddles were moved perfectly and the balls bounced straight up, thus leading to a super high score :) after that I did understand the two paddle mechanic, not bad! You could improve the names of the runnable files, Default Mac Desktop 64-bit is a bit general :)
My best is 13 coins, nice game! I love how you sold the bug with walls as a feature :) also the protagonist is a great flappy little thing!
Nice game! Really enjoyed the art style and the polishness of the game, also the controls were smooth. The idea is also natural for the LD#40 topic, so that's great!
I really like the graphics and the mood of the game! For the future, what kinda set me off was the difference in pixel size of the pixel graphics, that might've been united. Otherwise pretty solid submission, thanks!
Just what I love to see in Ludum Dare - simple games with clear idea, awesome execution and no unnecessary stuff around! Thanks for the game, really enjoyed it and it may be my favorite so far :)
Really nice game! Enjoyed the feel of the weapon and the flow of the game. I was wondering how you could get 32k score (I always got around 13k) and then I saw the 100k exploit, so I guess there are multiple ways to play this game :) nice!!
I like the graphics and the mood. I think the gameplay might be done a bit better (I ended at 154 souls where I didn't even see the ball hitting me), this however sets the game straight to the LD#40 topic, so that's good. I think giving the user the option to get smaller while keeping some souls may lead to higher total possible score. Nice one overall!
I really like you included more levels ! I had serious troubles with the one with floating translucent floors, but the mechanics were solid! Thanks for this :)
I enjoyed the music, and I think I see the direction in which you headed with the game, which is nice! It could use some polish but for a first time, well done!
Wow really nice that it's really multiplayer, also that domain is sick !
I've tried the OS X version and it seems that the imp is a bit stuck. I like the fluidity of the game, don't be discouraged by the bugs!
Nice game, although it indeed is a little bit hard to decide wether to kill or not. I'd like the addition of an additional statistic that would make this decision easier (like karma) :) Thanks for the game!
Nice submission, it took me some minutes to learn how to control (somehow) the chopper but it was hard! The theme was present but I think that finetunning the controls of the helicopter could've made the game more good to me :)
Fellow LudumDarer from the same site! I enjoyed your presentation but the web version seems a bit too blurred, also I think the Menu UI might use some work (not sure what to press). However, the main character is very nice and I enjoyed the flow of the game! Thanks :)
The game was slow (nearly unplayable unfortunately) for me on HighSierra OS X. The level generation looked nice!
I like the idea of the game (also EA deserves this I guess ... :)). I think the WebGL version might be a bit more polished but that's just Unity things. Well done!
I went through the first level thinking it was done and then BAM, boss fight! Nice, enjoyed this one :)
Nice game, I was able to double jump and skip to the joystick machine to go to the bot fight (after I picked up the gun - wonder what would happen if I did that without the gun)! The mechanics worked pretty well and the content was funny. Thanks!
Nice thing you did here! I like the graphics and thanks for the web version. The boss was pretty hard for me but overall you coded the mechanics well. Thanks for the experience!
Bold submission! Nice game, it is clear you spend some time on the art and I like that you were successful in adding more stuff around that like the inventory system and so. Unlike some other comments I can see the theme clearly in the game :)
I like the smoothness and graphics, well done!
Fun game! I really like the notifications from the "creators" of the "game" telling me there is much more to see in the loot box! The sun passing is a nice touch but sounds would add more depth I think, as was already mentioned in the comments.
Nice little concept! I got to 23 treasure before I got caught (running around diagonally for some time before that). Also thanks for naming the build for os x meaningfully ! Helps a lot to manage the downloads. I think some sounds might make it a bit better but I understand there was not that much time :)
Nice game in 7 hours, I got to 74 (I think) and obviously there might be some optimizations hanging low for future development, but I like this very much, thanks!
Hi, I enjoyed the game. Played on OS X. There's a bug (probably listed too) that pressing the same key destroys all key labels on screen. Also I thought the ordering is important but it didn't seem so. Thanks for the game!
@saoi-games I had no idea you did the stream but I went back and watched it, and it was great! Thanks a lot for including our submission in it, you really showed where the main drawbacks of the game are and it was great to see you play it out :) We're trying to transform the submission into a standalone game, and I believe every one of your suggestions should be there. I liked the idea with slower tutorials teaching players one thing at a time.
This was great! Thanks a lot for the game, I really enjoyed the combination of the themes. It was fairly easy for me since I could just block once and then type the other guy to KO, but still had a lot of fun!
Nice game, enjoyed playing this. I feel like a special move on C would suit this game well. Nice submission overall!
Interesting game! I like the combo of visuals, audio and gameplay.
Hi! I enjoyed your game, but as said before it is pretty hard! It took me some tries to get the throwing mechanic right (I didn't stretch my hand too far and the card didn't get thrown). Pro submission!
BTW, we're still a couple reviews short for our own VR submission, so we appreciate any feedback: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/the-ultimate-magic-duelling-tournament-vr
Hi, I tried your game, and I'm not sure if I got everything set-up correctly because the buttons were all over the place. But I was able to interact with them, so maybe that was the idea? Anyway, interesting submission, combining fitness and calculations, two things most people really don't like!
BTW, we’re still a couple reviews short for our own VR submission, so we appreciate any feedback: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/the-ultimate-magic-duelling-tournament-vr
Oh yeah, this is what I'm talking about! What a way to fulfill the theme! Love the idea, thanks a lot for the publishing on Kong as well - it's great to see LD games being published there!
I like the idea with the theme! It's a bit easy but it's a solid LD entry nevertheless, well done!
Hi! I enjoyed your submission, I like the trigger pressing on the gun, and the gameplay core was solid. I did run out of bullets soon though, which I didn't really understand. Overall, great submission!
BTW, we’re still a couple reviews short for our own VR submission, so we appreciate any feedback: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/the-ultimate-magic-duelling-tournament-vr
Well done! It seemed really polished (stuff like cursor icon etc. goes a mile imho). I'm not sure what math you used for rotating the object but it made the game a bit more interesting to me. God damn the glitching boundary though, got me every time (like, "hey me it's a nice piece of floating thing that you can pick u... NOPE I'M TOUCHING THE BOUNDARY SO IF YOU PICK ME UP YOU DIE"). Thanks for the submission!
Great submission! I love the combination of bullet dodging and cookie clicker, it's so clever! I'm pretty used to cookie clicker type of games, but here I was like "gotta dodge, gotta dodge... HA I found a place where the bullets won't hit me, let's buy some more workers"! I love how the bullet hell takes your mind away from the fact that you're playing a mindless cookie clicking game! Well done, thanks for this!
Oh man this is a proper LD submission! It got everything - clever idea, clunky controls (the touchpad on my MacBook Air was really super sensitive), out of the world game mechanics ("hey, let's just.. you know, let's just place the seeds here, in the air, and get back to them later, they will wait floating")... thanks a lot for the submission and well done! OH and also I forgot the touch with DENSE WOODS! Brilliant!
Good game! I like how you have to decide to type fast or not, nice mechanic.
Hi! I tried to run your game on my HTC Vive but it didn't work, so I did play it on my machine instead. I like the mechanics! The core gameplay is solid, and I also enjoy the graphics, they add a nice vibe to the game. Overall, solid submission!
BTW, we’re still a couple reviews short for our VR submission, so in case you happen to have a VR rig, we'd appreciate any feedback: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/the-ultimate-magic-duelling-tournament-vr
