Incredibly great game. Especially for 48 hours.
Someone help me stop playing it.
Loved this game! PLEASE develop this more. Would love a sandbox mode.
Welp.
I killed the Earth but thwacking it with a shovel.
Interesting game, but if there was supposed to be a part where the boat comes back, I didn't see it. Clicking didn't seem to do anything.
Great game! High score of 116k. One thing I would've definitely liked more would be a slightly tilted camera angle, to better determine where things are.
Always like the kinds of games where you play by programming, and this one pulls it off nicely, despite being so simple.
Couldn't play the game, too laggy, so I couldn't defeat anything.
Nevermind, found the lower end version! Still lagged, but could play this time.
A bit too difficult since the elemental attacks didn't seem to work very well (they didn't activate much, despite being ready).
Short yet freaking awesome.
Great game. Loved every moment of it.
Not very fun, and rather repetitive, but it's a fun idea.
Decent game. The dialogue was amusing, but I found that you could win just by waiting.
Loved the dialogue. Great game!
Great game - very interesting. Definitely achieves a good mood.
Great game. Took me a while, but I managed to make it to the end.
What? I thought they were sponsored by Google...
Fun but difficult. Had a bit of trouble getting past some of the levels. Loved the dialogue, though.
Great game to play for a short while to kill time. Music sounded good, but it was hard to hear it given the volume of the sound effects.
It was fun, but frustrating. Would like to have health, even if just two points of it.
Very very good game. Great interpretation of the theme, and loads of fun to boot.
It was fun, though I wish you could turn the camera.
Awesome game. Loved the way the theme was used.
QWOP Ninja is best game of Ludum Dare.
Seriously, A+ humor. Loads of fun.
A bit fun, though it gets boring after some time, at least until the characters start phashing through walls instead of taking stairs.
Fun, but a bit boring after waiting around a while.
Song was a bit annoying, as was the sound effects, though the controls and graphics were pretty good. Took a little bit to understand how to play.
Great take on the theme. Gets a bit difficult a bit fast though.
Very fun game. I enjoyed the ending, though short it was.
Fun, but though I like faster-paced incremental games, this one was very unbalanced.
Nice simple and fun game. Small but polished.
Nice interpretation of the theme. Definitely a good puzzle game.
Loved this game and it's awesome music and graphics. I want to vote 6/5, but alas, I cannot.
Laggy here, too, but the graphics were good, and the sound effects were amusing. Seems like it's the game - would probably be solved allowing the user to reduce quality of the graphics.
Was fun to play, although it was hard to figure out how to kill the enemies.
Fun game, just wish there was a singleplayer mode.
ShadowStryker & JoshuaBurr, I've put a itch.io link as the main one - the old one has been moved to be a mirror. Hopefully now you'll be able to play.
Lynx, thanks for the tip on the art. I didn't realize this.
pkenney, thanks for the comment! When it comes to the screen mechanic, it's not entirely true. There's a small 'buffer' where tiles will stick around so that you don't see them getting destroyed, so the enemies might have hidden there.
Fun game, though it's a bit difficult to recover after you mess up.
I couldn't figure out how to actually time the keys, so I was stuck losing repeatedly.
Fun game, but a little difficult.
Great game with an awesome twist! Played twice so I could find everything, and decided to 'finish' the mini-idle game both times just for kicks.
Fun, but a little too easy, since you can just go to a corner and bounce all the bullets away without risk.
Decent, but to be honest not terribly fun. Was also a bit difficult to figure out what to.
Fun game. Got to about day 10 before I lost.
Fun to try different combinations, but it's a bit disappointing to see every expedition fall to starvation due to sandstorms happening so frequently.
Dialogue was great. Top notch humor. Played twice and about to play a third time.
I want to play more, but the game is just too hard. Nonetheless, it was fun.
Very fun, played at least 3 times til' I won.
Fun game. Dialogue was great and I loved the response options.
Very, very fun game. Difficult to get adjusted to the spinning, but once you do it's amazing.
Fun idea, but the controls were a bit difficult to use.
Great game. Enjoyed the dialogue a lot and pixel art was very good.
I wasn't sure what exactly to do, so I decided to wait around and let myself lose. Was fun to watch them try to eat the fan. Great graphics and effects, too.
Fun game. Health didn't drop however, so I ended up dying sooner than was probably intended.
Very fun, kept me playing for a quite a while.
I don't even know how to pronounce what I'm making. This is great.
Very nice game. Excellent graphics. A bit difficult however, and the initial text was behind some trees.
I liked the graphics, but it was confusing as to how to use the gun until I read the description.
Fun little game. Couldn't play it with two people before judging ends unfortunately, so I don't really have any suggestions.
Good game with good graphics, but as others have said, it's difficult to tell what my actions are really doing. I've won by using Reel multiple times, and their damage would go back down over time. I once used Reel on the End Bass (Love the enemy names by the way) and afterwards its damage went from High to Low.
Fun little game. Could only tell what was different about Graham and Audrey, though.
Decent game. Collisions were a bit strange and it was hard to find enemies, though.
Decently fun, and the graphics are good, but it seems that as my weapon gets more upgraded I can basically just hold spacebar and sit in the middle to win.
Not much to do. I also didn't have all the orbs right from the beginning, as I clearly should've, which was very disappointing.
Very unique idea. It was a bit confusing at times, as sometimes I would take damage after it told me the monster did, but I still liked it.
Walk speed was a bit slow, but other than that it was great!
Excellent game. My only problem is that there isn't more of it.
Very good game with a very good story. Puzzles weren't too challenging nor too easy. My only problem ever came up when I walked past the tile I wanted to be on when I let go of movement keys.
A bit difficult to tell how to solve the puzzles, as I had no way to tell if what I was doing was helping or making it worse, but it was fun nonetheless.
Controls are very hard to use, rendering it almost impossible move around.
Also, it couldn't detect my microphone.
"Blue destroyed Red
And several pizza portals"
What have I done?!
Anyway, great game! I couldn't play it with a friend unfortunately, but it's surprisingly playable despite this. Great small idea. Only thing I can suggest is a delay on firing and music during the game.
A bit difficult, but otherwise a great and well-polished game.
Good game! it was a bit hard to tell who were criminals until they shot at me, and avoiding shooting civilians was incredibly difficult, so I just opted to not bother trying to avoid them.
Music was excellent! Aiming was a bit difficult, but other than that it was great.
@TailyILoveYou Never saw that, thanks for pointing it out. Health bars are made with Slider objects in Unity, and they probably do that by default.
@FireSlash Try clicking after going fullscreen. It seems to be a focus problem, at least for me - using the arrow keys would make the page move instead. If that doesn't describe your problem, I don't know what's causing it, sorry.
Great game. Could do with some ramping difficulty instead of being attacked by all variations at once, but besides that the gameplay is great.
Bit difficult, and I lagged a ton, but the graphics and sound were great and I still had fun.
The gravity gun is insanely overpowered. Great game.
Was a bit annoying to have to weave through the mines. Other than that, it was an interesting short game.
Fun game with excellent graphics and audio, however it was rather difficult to figure out when I could attack. Couldn't play with two people unfortunately.
Nice game. Could do with more different things, but there was a good amount of levels and the mechanic was fun.
Very fun game. Definitely unconventional and definitely fun to use the mace. Could do with a bit more car durability though, as I restarted a ton.
Great voice acting, and it was fun discovering all the endings.
Fun game, gets a bit repetitive over time, and the skewed angle is a bit odd to me, but otherwise very good.
Definitely fun. Only really ended up using the second weapon.
Very nice game. The introduction of the mechanics was effective and interesting and I enjoyed each level.
Very fun. Graphics were okay and sound was good, but the gameplay was great. Only problem was that you could go backwards with checkpoints.
Very good game, introduces the mechanics excellently and in general very well polished.
Gameplay was a bit lacking after I started a wave, and since I never got refills on my legoes it was inevitable that I'd lose within 150 seconds, but good overall.
Besides that, it was very hard to understand the voice clips and 'boss' voice clips would play when there was no boss in play.
Decent game. Nothing really new or innovative, and I didn't really see anything unconventional, bu it was good nonetheless.
Hard to play. Every time I lost and restarted I was almost immediately greeted with bullets and lost again. From what I saw, it was good, but it was too difficult to really be able to tell.
Was fun, but level 4 was too difficult. Got too frustrating to continue.
Very very good game. Would love to see more come of it.
Very nice game, the boss was unexpected and it was nice to hear a unique soundtrack for it.
Pretty good game. Obviously enough it needs better UI and music, but besides that it was rather difficult and I think it would help a lot if I could move faster. Also, collisions seemed a bit strange, I'd not get hit when I should've and get hit when I shouldn't have.
Pretty good. Levels were a bit easy, and I couldn't hold E but other than that it was fine.
Very good game as usual. Found it more fun to kill goats than to actually cut the grass I was supposed to cut. Didn't see any real lose condition, however.
Was a bit difficult, fortunately I pressed some arcane key combination and was able to slow time and annihilate everything with ease.
I made a sword that looked more like a llama than a weapon.
It was glorious.
Bit short and easy, but still well-made. Good job!
Very good and interesting game. Played over and over to find everything that there was. Only had a problem with the dialogue going too fast.
Looks good and plays well, but its rather frustrating to lose your score so easily and the waiting between each try is too long.
Simple controls yet great gameplay. Even replaying the levels I already beat was still quite fun.
Very good looking game. Not much to do, but still was enjoyable throughout!
Very fun game. Played for quite a while trying to max out my levels. Final weapon was great, too! Took me a bit to get used to the controls.
Decent, though not very interesting. Had difficulty ever getting past 30 in any of my tries.
Decent gameplay with decent graphics. Kept hearing a website repeated in the background music though and it was hard to keep going very far.
Simple yet effective. Well-polished game with great animations and music.
Well polished, but rather repetitive and doesn't last long.
All-around good game. Played through every level and loved the sound effects.
Good little game! Would've liked to see human mode a bit more, but fun nonetheless!
Good little game. Not much to see, but what is there is good. Could do with a few more things to do, though.
Liked it! Really nice menu UI & music, though in-game sound got a little annoying and the terrain could do with more details.
A bit hard until you kill the guys with guns, and a bit easy after, but still a good game.
Good game! Map walls looked like buildings which was a little confusing, and level 5 was quite hard, but still fun. I loved the mouse controls, too!
Great game. Controls were excellent - I loved being able to hold two arrow keys at once so that when I hit a corner I just kept going. Really helped. Only issue I had was with the difficulty of the guards instant-aim and fast bullets.
Fun game. A bit disappointed that I didn't get a different ending if I got all the coins, but still very entertaining!
Very nice game as usual. The only thing I'd prefer is being a little less of a one-hit-point-wonder, as getting hit once and being forced to restart everything isn't very fun.
Good, unique idea. Got a little bit repetitive and I got confused when I picked up passengers only to have some options suddenly removed, but otherwise the game was really good.
Could do with a easier difficulty curve, and perhaps some tutorial levels in the game. Other than that I liked it - love programming games.
Thanks for the feedback everyone! Ptolo - In this version of the game, no. I'd planned for being able to capture 'sub-cores' that would increase your points per turn, but units ended up being such a buggy mess to implement that I couldn't possibly get to it. You currently only get 12 points from your core per turn.
Anyway, expect a post-compo version sometime around when the judging period ends. I'll be fixing up everything I couldn't get to, adding an extra feature or two and with any luck I'll finally be able to kick out the WebGL bug that's been plaguing my games too.
Really good game. Loved the music hidden in the wall. It was difficult to tell however why the screen was getting darker and even after I tried breathing hellish flames I didn't know the lights dimmed until I read the comments.
Little bit buggy - lost when clicking on a doll that I'm guessing had TNT spawned behind it, and it'd be nice to have the dolls & tnt drop from above (and disappear after a time).
Despite this though, the game still quite fun, and I enjoyed the main menu as well.
Skeleton was extremely overpowered, and was actually more effective at melee than ranged combat. Don't know what Slender was supposed to be for. Decent game, I'm sure I would've enjoyed it more with two players, but it is even okay playing against yourself.
Felt like it would've been better if you weren't using the mouse cursor, and eating on touch made not eating monsters diffcult. Still liked it, though!
All-around very good game. Loved all the Portal references, and while I eventually got enough upgrades to make every round a cakewalk, the game still remained enjoyable. Only thing I was disappointed in was occasionally buttons wouldn't work (I assume this is because the ship was spawning at the time) and the minions only spawned from 3 locations (ignoring the Discus).
Rather short, and not very fun, but the models were good and the overall it was still well-made.
Decent game. Could use more to do and more content, but what was there was good.
Very nice game! Would've liked more to fight, but you can only do so much, and what there was was excellent - especially the art. Loved shooting just to see the effects.
Difficult and seems to require luck to get high scores, but still decent and I liked the dialogue.
I move slower than a molasses and it gets a bit repetitive. Other than that, this is pretty good!
Decent little game. Not much to see, but not much wrong with it either.
Would've been better if there was a limit on how fast I could fire the first ability, as having none meant I tried to fire it as fast as possible, resulting in tired fingers.
Also, some weak health regeneration to reward dodging would be good, though there'd need to be more danger in the edges as right now sitting there and only moving when a ship happens to be there is very effective.
Finally, it didn't feel like I was very much of a boss as it did that I was simply a bigger ship. Controlling minions before being attacked & fighting only one ship would've made it a lot better.
Overall, decent little game - music and graphics were both good and fit together nicely, and everything was easy to understand.
Not much to do, and as everyone else mentioned, the controls were a little annoying. They didn't get in the way much, as I could easily compensate by moving sooner, but they still were a little irritating. I also could not figure out how to help the homeless man.
Very nice game. Fun with fitting music and art. Difficult, but fortunately I was able to get to fifty-two by mashing the throw key and just trying to catch.
Military attacks rather quickly, and basically ends up killing for you while you simply have to dodge, but the game was really good otherwise. I especially enjoyed the art and AI pathfinding.
A few glitches here and there, but otherwise a very well made and fun to play game!
Good graphics, but the gameplay was overall boring unfortunately. A non-square map and more interesting zombie movement would help, and a more relaxed starting timer would help get adjusted to the game mechanics (it was rather difficult to get started only to die in 5 seconds).
All-around decent game. Liked the story - kept me playing.
Difficult to get very far, but still fun nonetheless.
Seemed to be incomplete, though I may've just missed something. Story was really good, though the gameplay was confusing. Thought I was supposed to touch the tome as the hero, and I couldn't tell what the controls for the Warlock did.
Rather difficult - never made it past wave 3-4, but despite repeated losses I kept coming back!
Quite hard, but very enjoyable. Loved the walk animation.
Hearts didn't work, enemies often would not shoot horizontally, and I didn't really like not having control over the weapon, but I liked the amount of levels and enemies and the 'loading' screen text was very enjoyable.
Good simple game. Everything in it is decent and I can't think of anything that could be improved short of just generic 'more content'.
Very fun game! Could do with a less difficult enemy that appears before the army so you have more of a chance to build up before they appear.
Good, well-polished game. Got very difficult after getting Dave, and getting my direction changed on me when I got hurt made things difficult, but still fun!
Good game, but I couldn't finish as one of the levels (not sure which) seemed to be impossible.
Not much to say. Good for what time you had to work on it, was fun to listen to. Kept losing the ball in the corner of the wall, though.
Very cool mechanic, but the level design was rather confusing - some levels were very easy, despite looking like there was supposed to be a puzzle. Additionally, I somehow won level 10 without ever moving.
Well-made game, decent fun, a bit slow to start, but the music is great!
Overwhelming start when you first get in a map, and difficult to survive for a while, but being able to restart quickly helps with that. Decent game overall.
All-around good game. Would've liked a slightly lower difficulty so it'd be more possible to have at least one surviving child, and the controls were a little wonky, but still fun!
Decent concept, but everything went by too fast to read, and there wasn't much else to do.
Laughed a bunch. Great game!
Very scary game. I was thoroughly spooked.
I did have a hard time finding the exit though, and also had trouble avoiding the green skeletons, and I could sprint indefinitely, but it was still fun.
Timer is too aggressive, and you get too little for successful attempts. Additionally, there were a lot of combos I tried that didn't work. Other than that, the game was really good.
Nice, but its difficult to get zero nights seeing as it seems you almost always have to perfectly fit pieces in in order to do so. Additionally, the game gets harder too fast seeing as bad luck with pieces can end your streak just as much as a faster timer can.
Very good game with excellent graphics! Was a bit hard to figure out qualities, but was still great to play!
Great game - just wish there was more to it!
Some parts were a bit difficult, others a bit too easy. Other than that this game is really well made. Loved all the effects and transitions.
Surprisingly fun game. Still can't believe you made 40 levels - excellent work! Only issue I had was that the controls were slightly annoying when trying to go down a path.
Very nice graphics and audio - they fit together well and made a very pleasant atmosphere.
The gameplay was lacking however. I'm not sure if there was more to it that I missed, but it seemed farming the apples was all I could do, and after I'd figured out how, it quickly became boring.
Not incredibly fun, but still enjoyable to play, and the sound effects were funny.
Very cool game. Purposefully lost a bunch of the time so I could see the endings. Well done!
Became a bit confused as to where the blossoms were, but fortunately after a couple attempts noticed they were at spawn. Gets a bit hectic after speeding up enough, and the controls require a little getting used to, but altogether this is a nicely made game!
Very fun game with a surprisingly large amount of content! Enjoyed each level and loved that the theme of the levels changed with each one - really helped keep things interesting. Only complaint I had was with trying to shoot enemies while chests were nearby, but thankfully that didn't happen too terribly often. Very well done!
Decent game, but it didn't really have much to it. It was nice to see the background change, but I never really tried that hard in the game as it felt like it was almost entirely luck-based.
Surprisingly fun and nice to look at. Loved the animations and death sequence.
Got pretty hard by the third area, but was able to get the hang of things. Very interesting take on the themes - excellent execution of both! Very fun game.
Couldn't find much to do, but fortunately eating carrots and staring at the scenery occupied my time quite well; the graphics were incredible, and the audio fit well with them. Amazing job.
Gems were difficult to work with, but once I stopped caring about getting them as much I was able to survive much more easily. Loved the music, too. There was nice variety and it was all very enjoyable.
Very very well polished game! Loved the mood, music and art all around. Gameplay was good though it could be improved as there wasn't much to do. Took me a while to figure out I could charge up while still defending after releasing it, but once I did the games difficulty was very sound - it started off easy and once I neared the end it became a challenge without being frustrating.
Overall a very nicely made game. Great job!
Might be biased, as I am a sucker for these types of games, but I found this to be incredibly fun. The graphics are amazing, and the animation is excellent. Would love to see this expanded upon.
My only complaint lies with building, in that the game frequently thinks I'm trying to build something new when I just want to upgrade a preexisting building or chop a tree.
I unfortunately couldn't play with anyone, but still played against myself to get a feel for the game. Very interesting idea indeed; I think playing against an AI with mouse buttons would have made for a very fun game. I can also imagine how fun and hectic a multiplayer game would be, despite not being able to participate in one.
Difficulty was downright unfair, but fortunately the nigh-instant respawn prevented it from being frustrating. In addition to making the collision more forgiving, I'd recommend slowing down the plant to the players speed or a little slower, as I've had it catch up to me and just barely hit me midair while I was moving full-blast. Lastly, the plant walls are very unexpected and almost always made me pause, causing me to lose as the plants speed outmatched mine so much.
Fun, but very challenging. Things moved extremely fast and for my first few tries I didn't hardly make it anywhere. There was also a bad imbalance in the amount of powerups vs, powerdowns and as such I often went to what I thought would help me only to lose my run to it. Fortunately, being able to restart as quickly as I was prevented losing from being irritating.
The graphics were interesting however, and the music was excellent; very much enjoyed listening to it.
Overall, great entry - would love to see it continued.
Collisions felt a bit strange at time, and I occasionally found myself crashing as soon as invulnerability wore off, which tended to be a problem as many times I was respawning in to a huge cluster of ships, but other than that this game was very well put together. I enjoyed seeing the explosions continue towards the edge of the screen and it was very rewarding to earn enough points to gain an extra life. Overall very enjoyable game!
Excellently put together game. Everything fit together nicely - from the music to the gameplay.
One thing I think could be improved is the driving. It was rather frustrating to get to a lot of places as my wheels were so small it made getting on to an incline a challenge in and of itself.
Other than that, this was an amazing well-polished game. Great job!
Very challenging game at the later levels. Became difficult to come up with a strategy, but still stayed fun. Wonderful graphics, too!
Interesting mechanic, but the puzzles were either too obvious or too hard to be enjoyable. As others have mentioned, this game could be quickly improved with more potential actions, as just moving around and hitting switches doesn't leave a lot to consider.
Fun game. Did not expect the controls swap half-way through!
Enjoyed the variation in levels, though I had difficulty on the final level as it seemed touching reds while carrying any mass at all was a death sentence for that attempt. Also noticed that some ejected mass seemed to disappear soon after using it, though I'm not sure if that was just me.
Very good looking game! Loved the audio and visuals, and it was cool to see the coils get built as the game progressed. Eventually found an easy win in cycling through each coil as it fired, but it was still entertaining to see everything that was going on.
Interesting idea! It was annoying to die sometimes as in some parts of the level it was really easy to get ahead of the camera and so you'd have to wait for it to catch up to be able to see.
Other things I found were that upon restarting the game I would maintain my checkpoint rather than starting back at the beginning. Also would've liked a timer or bar indicating how long I have left on the shoes.
Overall though a very solid game! The graphics and audio were very nice and fitting and the game was entertaining!
Great art and music, thought while fun at first, it got boring after a while. Got to ~400k subs before I got tired of playing. Great game overall though!
Loved the powerups on this. Was fun to see the variety of them available. Would've liked to be able to hit zombies once they were on the grass, as they were more difficult than the bats - even when they only had a single hitpoint.
Good game, great music choice! I had some difficulty with the controls, and would've preferred left/right & up/down versions as opposed to diagonal variants, but it was still fun to play each level.
Found jumping a little confusing, as I thought I could double-jump but then found I couldn't. Controls were a little hard to work with, but I got used to them over time. Overall a pretty good game.
Very fun game with very good replayability. Got to 43 seconds on my best try.
Excellent game! Very creative use of two buttons. Quit my first playthrough as I had trouble with food and grew (get it?) tired of finding so little. Fortunately the second time around I found the world map almost immediately and was able to find the treasure.
My only gripe is with the energy and food: food seemed to last a long time - if you built a farm early w/ enough food, you could make really really long expeditions as you could easily fill up - while energy seemed to run out far too quickly.
@Danbolt
Thanks for the feedback! I did in fact originally plan for a second unit, but even at the starting stages of the project I didn't really see myself having the time for it. I'll definitely be looking in to it & level indicators however in a potential post-compo.
Oh, and sorry for the awkward resolution; it's currently at 1300 x 600 because I crafted the scene in Unity at Free Aspect full-screen which resulted in a very wide level that the camera had to be at a very specific size to capture well.
Fun little game, but the controls threw me off a bit, as I'd often end up pressing the opposite key as to what I wanted. Was also a little confusing as to how high above the crops was acceptable.
Decently fun, but quite difficult. The animals moving down made them hard to dodge and I'd frequently get hit twice in a row and be unable to recover in time. Additionally, the controls were a bit difficult to use and as such made getting where I wanted to go problematic.
On the plus side, the graphics & audio were enjoyable and fitting and the instructions were nice and clear.
Very fun and interesting game. Felt like I was controlling a claymation character.
It is hard however. Found the controls imprecise and had a lot of trouble dodging the damaging spikes while also making sure I didn't stop moving and didn't fall off in the process.
Amazing work on the modeling - the environment was very impressive given the time you had to make it.
Didn't really like playing after doing it once though. Being stuck because of dialogue made a for a lot of boring waiting, though the endings were decently interesting.
Also, extremely good job on the shark AI - was blown away.
Very enjoyable game. Bit easy though; only had trouble with one tier three monster, and healthkits were very plentiful.
Very good game! Unique and interesting. A very pine game indeed.
Interesting idea, but by even the second level I found it extremely hard to locate the music box. I couldn't tell if I was walking towards it or away from it and I often found myself walking towards it only to miss.
Enjoyable experience, but very easy. Never once got stumped, and was able to finish most puzzles in a minute or less.
Controls were definitely wonky, but workable. I was able to pass each level without them getting in the way.
Overall an interesting game. The growth mechanics were worked into the level quite nicely, and I enjoyed the idea of using spikes to fit into smaller spaces.
Didn't really pay any attention to energy as it lasted so long, but besides that the game was really nicely balanced. It was fun to find out good strategies for getting better percentages, and it remained fun each time.
Excellent audio and graphics - especially impressive for a Ludum Dare submission.
Regarding gameplay:
Movement could've been more interesting (leaps, charging) as enemies simply moving in your direction made dodging a simple thing.
It also felt unfair that enemies spawned below me given my perspective causing a slight sight disadvantage in that direction. Finally, I found out that by camping in any of the maps corners I could easily go on for as long as I want if I had enough Knights with me.
Lastly, on audio, the shooting sound quickly became obnoxious enough to drown out all other audio entirely once my firerate and chain got long enough. Additionally, the single background track, although interesting and fitting at first, quickly became boring after playing long enough.
Had a bunch of fun trying to beat my high score - took a while, given that it took a bit to figure out that eating increased my available time, but eventually made it to 18. Very nice game!
Controls were a little difficult to use, and I found levels 2 and 1 somewhat annoying as I had to wait for people to walk into range before I could do anything. Specifically with level one all the remaining followers bunched up such that I had to wait the entire time for them to return before I could do anything.
Very fun little game. Enjoyed every level. Only problem I had was that the boulder was introduced rather unexpectedly. Otherwise a very good game!
Was insanely difficult to begin with, as the different colored arrows threw me off fast. As I kept playing, it got easier, but having multiple different kinds of rotated arrows really hurt my scores. I want to note that this is without mashing keys to win, though I will admit I panicked a few times and might've done it a little then.
Oh, and wonderful music. Was great to listen to!
Incredibly fun. This is definitely one of my favorite games of this LD. Every kill is satisfying and your mistakes are always your fault, not the games fault.
Was able to get up to 79 points, but I didn't really want to stop. I get the feeling I'm going to be playing this game more in the future.
Initially fun, but as you beat levels the game becomes frustrating as losing means losing all your progress - this happens often, too, as the enemies damage by a LOT and hearts don't heal for as much meaning each mistake costs you far too much.
On the upside, the first level is fun and the art and music were quite nice.
Fun game! I enjoyed figuring out the combos, though there were a couple levels where the difficulty spiked unexpectedly (namely where the speed increased). The audio definitely set a fitting mood and I found winning each stage quite rewarding.
Unique concept! Levels weren't too easy or too hard, and the level editor was a fun extra!
Obviously needs more to do, but it was still interesting despite the lack of content. The controls worked well, though I felt that changing speed would be better if you simply selected a percentage of max instead of making it go slower/faster or go max speed or stop.
In the end, while this didn't have much, I still liked it. You made what you could, and it was well done.
Great game - enjoyed every level. Was a little easy, and some fish types (fire in particular) felt a little weak, but that's all I've really got; this game is very well made.
Nice game! Barely managed to beat it. The suicide mushrooms were hard to spot, so I usually just had to deal with the aftermath of them as I couldn't see them in time. The tree upgrades also didn't really feel worth it, so I mostly just ended up using the flowers.
Decent, but difficult. Found too many times I'd hit a branch because I got an impossibly small gap to try to fit through. Many of the sundrops or bees were simply grabbed by chance as I they flew by far too fast to react to.
All in all, a good try, but too difficult to really be that fun.
A little difficult, and I had a few problems with accidentally starting another branch after finishing one, but still a fun game overall! Good ambiance and graphics and it was great trying to beat the scores!
Loved the graphics and audio - very well crafted. The game was nicely polished, and while I didn't understand the controls at first, it quickly came to me and the game was very fun. The only problem I had was with the UI in that I thought the top-right indicator for levels completed actually referred to doors, as I had not noticed the score counter in the top-left.
Good basic little game, however a bit tedious, as waiting for monsters was annoying, spikes were unpredictable, movement was slow and my mines didn't refill on death, making it impossible to finish some levels if I accidentally wasted too many.
Decent game, but the challenge fell off pretty quickly once I got the first few pieces down. Music also played over itself more and more with each loss.
Controls could do with improvement, and the game was quite hard, what with the growth of the planet making movement occasionally difficult (and the strength of the basic enemies), but overall it was still fun! The powerups were nice, the music was fitting and enjoyable, and it was a good challenge to try and beat my high score.
Surprisingly nerve-wracking game! Didn't really have too much incentive to keep spawning monsters though, as I could just wait till' they left the button room and camped there while watching the door to make sure I was safe.
Very very fun game. Found it extremely hard to get very far, as either I used too many soldiers or the rabbit population got out of hand too quickly for me to respond, but I still loved playing this.
Oh, and the short story was amazing. Phenomenal voice acting and dialogue. Seriously, well done!
Controls made it very difficult to dodge fire, as I could never shoot enemies while moving unless they happened to be heading at me from where I was going. As a result, I just stood still whenever an enemy was around so I could easily take them down.
The charge system was interesting, but was also the largest source of difficulty, as I didn't seem to lose shield too fast very often unless I didn't have the charge to defend myself.
Overall, this was a nice game for a first jam and I enjoyed it. Great job!
Excellent game. Loved the voice over the intercom and while the controls took a bit to get used to I eventually got the grasp of things.
Excellent game. Loved the voice over the intercom and while the controls took a bit to get used to I eventually got the grasp of things.
Interesting game, but really could've used more elements to it, as it was very very easy to figure out and finish.
I can tell this would've been more fun had I someone to play with, but even with AI it was enjoyable. Good job!
Nice game. Enjoyed the audio and graphics, but kept encountering a strange bug that prevented me from grabbing or hitting which ended my runs. Also was rather confused regarding the controls at the start - For a while I wasn't aware that I had to hit enemies a few times before I could eat them. I'd also prefer to be able to use W A S D since it is right next to Q / E.
Fun at first, but the bugs that appear the bigger you get eventually made it impossible to continue as I couldn't even see anything, let alone move to it as I'd get stuck on random things on my way, wouldn't collide with others and kept moving at the same slow speed no matter how big I got.
On the other hand, the graphics were great and the animation that went with it was likewise good, and the audio set the mood nicely.
Very interesting and fun game! Loved the perspective you had when not aiming. Would've liked to be able to hold left mouse to keep moving, and might've preferred being able to shoot at a specific spot from the non-aiming view, but the game was still fantastic in almost all regards!
Good little game! Mashing buttons eventually grew tiring, but I enjoyed the start, and the intro was well-made. Didn't end up switching directions too much though - only ended up doing so accidentally, making it a bit confusing if I tried to start moving soon after I'd stopped.
I am dumbfounded with the length of this game. This much content in a Ludum Dare game blows my mind, and with solid gameplay, graphics and sound to boot. Very, very good entry.
The second weapon was a little confusing for a while as I didn't know it exploded at the mouse position, but otherwise a very interesting concept. Well done!
Very fun game. Got a nasty bug though it turned out to be helpful in the end. Music was very nice to listen to, by the way!
A bit buggy, but otherwise fun game. Puzzles seemed a bit easy at times, and I only really had difficulty in figuring out that the purple blocks were timed. Also, the second-to-third room transition where you end up smashing a bunch of blocks on the way is really satisfying.
Also, the eggplant room was really hard, and though I eventually solved it, I do think it could do with being toned down in difficulty.
Bit difficult to see the character, but the mechanic was really interesting and fun to work with, and the levels were all on an even enough difficulty to make it fun without being too easy. Oh, and the music was excellent!
Really enjoyable game, though the Mech seemed more capable in the end. I never really got low on time as I was able to build up charges enough to speed through and get enough time to keep going. Ship mode wasn't without use though, as I was able to utilize the smaller hitboxes when the big enemies went and filled my screen with bullets.
Loved the mood of the game, but it was very challenging. Found it difficult to get beyond 100 score, though I did manage a few times!
Took a while - partially due to difficulty fighting the dinos, partially due to collision bugs (fell into the floor many times), but I did make it to the end. Could do with making it more obvious when the enemies are attacking, as well as when you get hit, as it took me a while to notice when I took damage since the blood particles were the same for the enemies as they were for me. Was also a hard to know how many hits I could take, though I could guess.
Music and graphics were very nice though - the background in particular added a lot to the game's aesthetic, and the character animations also worked well - the mid-air animation was fun to watch.
Definitely a fun game though - would stream again!
Impressive game. I got an out of memory error at one point, but other than that this was a really well developed game with an astonishing level of polish. Excellently done!
Looks absolutely incredible, though unfortunately I wasn't able to experience much of it due to lag. I'd be more than happy to give a second look if the lag is remedied, though I will say that even as it stands now this was impressive for a Ludum Dare submission. Was wonderful to see all the stuff going on in the radar!
Fun game with even difficulty - not too hard or too easy. Particularly liked how easily understood the game is, as everything is very well represented and I was never confused.
Very enjoyable game, though I ended up only matching shapes and not colors so as to win. The darkness that creeped in with the beat could've been toned down a bit, and occasionally it completely darkened the screen, but fortunately this never caused too much of a problem.
Also, the menu work shows! I stuck on the screen for a bit to see it and it was certainly worth watching. In the menu and out, the audio and effects really worked well!
Short and simple, but enjoyable! Given the secret signs, I'm fairly certain you're aware, but I found out you could fly anywhere with just the arrow keys if you mashed 2 and 3 repeatedly, and after a while of trying was able to use this to escape the map in one of the levels.
Fun little game! The controls were unusual, but - while I'm not sure this was intentended - the poster at the very start succeeded in getting me to figure out the jump button, which was the thing I was most confused about initially.
Reflecting seemed to break if I did it too much in quick succession, though I'm not sure if that might be intentional? Oh, and great timing on the text appearing at the ending screen, by the way!
Very fun little game. Got to floor 8 and had fun all the way. Took a bit of time to figure out how to move the hero, but eventually got it.
Difficulty curve could use some smoothing and the background audio was really strange to me, but the mechanic was interesting to use and I did enjoy the use of wind as a level mechanic.
As far as level design goes, I ended up quitting because I encountered a pit filled with checkpoints that sent me back to the start which really demotivated me from continuing. At the same time though, the checkpoints being placed frequently throughout the level was very welcome.
Interesting game with neat levels. Could do with more content and more polished art, but it was still fun throughout!
Loved this game. Very relaxing and simple while still having enough gameplay and replayability to be more than entertaining. Got caught off guard by the first ending, but I also caught the rest and enjoyed finding all of them.
Interesting game. Some mechanics were a little confusing at first - I initially thought I was moving on a grid and that like Snake I'd die if I touched a part I'd already covered, but eventually found out that was false. In particular I really appreciated being able to go back to any checkpoint at any time, as I ended up missing one pizza and being able to snap back to the area it was in was very convenient and helpful.
Gameplay wasn't that great, as the mushrooms seemed to be in the same place every time with the only difference between levels being which tree was picked to transform. Additionally, I feel the dragon should've been faster and spawned farther away, as I only got hit when it spawned next to me.
Reminded me of Limbo, which was especially amazing, as I enjoyed that game, so the art here was particularly good. Music and sound effects really matched with the graphics as well and were very enjoyable, and while I would've liked more types of miners or more strategy in which traps I activated, the gameplay was still quite fun. Overall a fantastic entry!
Very interesting idea, but I couldn't figure out how to beat the second enemy at the house encounter, and since I had to restart from the beginning each time it became tiresome to try again rather quickly.
Incredibly innovative game with a lot of fun to be had. Well done!
Nice game. Got to level 9 before I couldn't find a way out. Good challenge and entertaining story to go with it!
The graphics and theme they put together were excellent, but I couldn't get far due to excessive lag, and it got annoying to wait for the arms to finish moving. Lastly, the spikes seemed to have a bit large of a hitbox.
@occultone I just downloaded and tested the Windows build and had no trouble. I can't vouch for the Mac build though as I don't have one. Is that the one you ran? What error did you get?
I'm not really concerned with the lack of ratings, by the way; I've not been advertising this due to its relative incompleteness, though I plan to do so some once the post-compo has gotten far enough. Nevertheless, thanks for the heads-up — there's no value in something unplayable, after all!
Edit: I had a friend who had a Mac test it and confirm the Mac build wasn't working for them. Looking in to it!
@micahcowen Thanks for the feedback! I am still doing a post-compo, I'll make sure to let you know when it comes out. As for the Mac, the mystery deepens, because I haven't gotten to that yet. The life of software development is nothing without obscure edge-case problems, I guess!
@cliffracerx I interpreted the theme as the world could be small at any point, and so as you move and things solidify, the world gets smaller and smaller, limiting how you move. As for the glitch - that's not technically a glitch (I never coded in anything to remove those pockets) — just an annoying little aesthetic issue. Anyway, thanks for playing! Still trying to figure that Mac thing, though :/
@Querk Thanks for playing! Absolutely adding checkpoints by the way. I realized their necessity quickly in playtesting, but time constraints leave little room for new things. They'll definitely be part of the post-compo; one of the most important things on the to-do list. No worries about your english, by the way, as it was actually rather good!
@Aurel300 I hadn't really considered how much of an issue slipping off platforms might be, but I do remember a number of times I encountered it myself in testing. I suppose a circle collider isn't the best thing in the world for platforming — I'll look in to making a little harder to slide off. Thanks for the feedback!
@Dink-Dunk Thanks a bunch for the list, that's a lot of very useful information I hadn't considered!
Rollbacks aren't something I thought of, but I can think of a couple ways to pull them off without being too punishing, so I'll see what I can do there. As for the tile seams, there might have been a few sprites I goofed up the import settings on, so thanks for letting me know.
Lastly, as for the corridors, I have them as long as they are to make for better pacing, and while I suspect the length issue will be a lot less annoying when checkpoints are added (I'm not going to be putting them before long hallways, after all) I'm going to be very careful about how I manage them regardless, don't worry!
@Adhesion Firstly, thanks for playing!
Secondly, I will be looking at more effectively introducing the concept and utilizing it in the future, as the level design I had was mediocre at best given the deadlines and available time. I had to rush the level on the last day, so it's far from perfect, and I'll absolutely be revisiting it.
And finally, I actually finished that fade-in fade-out concept just last night, and it's in the post-compo right now! :tada:
Extremely solid entry and idea. Couldn't get past 95/100, however, and I encountered two bugs: the first being that there was one button where I could jump into the turning part and sometimes launch upwards. The second, more serious one, ended my run — I don't know how it happened, but the only button I had when it finished turning broke. I did see some z-fighting as it turned, so maybe that had something to do with it? Hard to tell.
Bugs have nothing on this as a whole, though! Really neat concept, and one that you managed to see to completion at that. The audio and mood were both very nice, and the graphics, while not impressive, were suitable and effective. The only thing I can think of to criticize is that the corner perspective is difficult to work with in regards to positioning and that a free camera may work better. That aside, well done indeed!
Good and simple gameplay, though I couldn't quite tell what the yellow germs were for, and it eventually became impossible to hold back. (Also I could raise my score easily after losing all green germs, as kills still counted!) Audio was well put together as well, though obviously the graphics have something to desire.
No FOV slider. Utter *garbage* 0/10
Except the bit where it's ridiculous and surprisingly fun, where playing as Decepticon Trump crashing into buildings at Mach 1 was hilariously entertaining, and how reading signs found its own entertainment with all the goofy things on them.
I suppose that part was *okay*.
Despite the lack of audio and simple design, this game actually holds itself up really well. You managed good length for an LD entry, and the puzzles gave pause, but weren't too difficult. All in all, this was a surprisingly enjoyable entry, well done!
Fantastic game. I'm finding myself not only going around collecting gems, but I also went back to the Bottomless Pits to listen to the music again. The only complaint I had was that it was difficult to get to the right angle around a slime without being hit, but really thats just part of the challenge. There was a bug I encountered where when you respawned you were hit immediately — I think it was because you spawned where an enemy just was a frame ago, but can't be sure.
The only thing I want would be a way to move slightly faster. That's it. Audio was excellent, graphics were top-notch, animations were fluid and the story was amazing.
The only problem I had was that I kept getting access violations when the screen turned red and so had to watch a video to see the rest of the story. That said, if this entry had no bugs *on top* of everything else, I'd be suspecting black magic.
Couldn't get it working - both web versions had **extreme** input lag. Had around five seconds of it on the large version, and from what I could tell the small version took like twenty seconds. I don't have flash so I can't run the downloadable versions, either.
Amazing game overall, loved the music and artwork, and the idea on its own is already great. Can't be upset with something with a name like that, after all!
I can't go however without saying that the fun suffered greatly for me due to the difficulty. I can't be certain, but I think the inclusion of X along with *up / down / left / right* is largely what made things difficult for me. Other than that, the game was made harder partly due to both the speed of it, as well as that having things coming in from right gave me less time to notice and prepare for them — this is in contrast with games like Guitar Hero, where it's in my field of vision almost immediately regardless of what incoming note I pay attention to.
Should this difficulty issue be remedied however, I wouldn't be able to think of much of anything wrong with the game at all, as every other aspect was absolutely nailed. Regardless of the challenge, this entry is fantastic!
As others have said, the art was quite good, and the music was nice as well. The animations could do with some work though; they never felt like they had any force behind them, and I think it would've helped to have punches swing forward faster. Additionally, while the enemies were overall nice, the snowball was rather hard to defeat given its range, and in general it was hard not to get hit.
Nicely done overall though, the game is quite polished for an LD entry, and that's great to see!
Fun little game. Couldn't understand the shower, but eventually figured the rest out and had a good time, and once I read the comments I figured it out and got the ending. Overall, a very nice succinct entry!
Interesting, but it was very difficult for me to get even half-way to the goal, as some enemies were extremely fast, many were too numerous to avoid without serious patience, and a general lack of indication as to how large their line-of-sight was generally made things nigh-impossible for me to overcome. Another thing I'd like to see is less linear of a level, as sometimes you genuinely *cannot* make it around the enemy given their positions, so having an alternate route would be lifesaving.
However, the story was a fun read, and being able to speed up dialogue was excellent (though I'd personally rather the skip button just make the text appear instantly) and I enjoyed the story. Altogether a nice entry!
While the art very much came off as placeholder, and the enemies were very difficult to avoid, the controls and physics were very nicely pulled off and I liked the sound as well. Solid entry overall!
Very nice mood for the game, though the silence lasts a long time after picking up the plot device. Overall, I like what's there, but the lack of length and things to do leave something to be desired. (it's LD though, so yeah)
Side note: I couldn't read any of the dialogue. I take it that illegibility was intentional?
Fantastic graphics and mood, and while the controls were pretty funky and hard to use, it did make for some funny moments when I got a particularly goofy success, and I did enjoy making it through all the levels. Nice job!
That was a very cool game. Loved it from start to end. The controls were a bit difficult at times, and on my way back I would've liked to be able to look down, but it was easily overshadowed by the incredible graphics and sound. Fantastic job!
Small concept with decent execution. Good things for a Ludum Dare entry! I did find it a little difficult at the start with such little charge, and I didn't realize you only needed to connect them (thought you had to use every node), but even so this game was a nice little submission that, while not especially flashy, appears well-scoped out and made! Even regardless of the game itself, that shows good development discipline, so nicely done!
As I said on Discord, this is some surprising progress for 24 hours of work! All things considered, it is very well made for how quickly it was put together, and it shows.
Most problems have been pointed out already, but I will of course note two things, those being that I don't know what the Sterilizer charge was for, and that if you right-click the same building twice, and *then* click another building, the game will crash.
Pretty interesting game, although I couldn't figure out how to make it very far, and I still don't know what the yellow things are for. Nonetheless, this was a neat concept, and I liked its execution as well.
Simple and clean mechanics, with nice gameplay resulting. Not much to say on this one; only thing I can say here you probably don't already know is that it was a bit easy, at least for me.
Couldn't really figure out the rhythm for the keypresses, and it was only got harder as I tried more given how tired my fingers got. Neat take on the theme, though!
A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one.
Very neat idea here, only complaint was that selecting pictures and stuff was weird as it seemed my mouse was messing with it when I intended to use arrow keys. Nevertheless, very cool submission!
Fantastic application of the theme, I gotta say. My only complaint with it is that the backlight and sound cost way too much power; I'd love to enjoy looking at it brightly lit and get to hear the sound, but I feel like I can't if I want to progress very much. Other than that, I couldn't tell the save points had been activated until I died, which was confusing at first. Nonetheless, very well done!
I can't help but feel as though I'm doing something wrong trying to play. I found even the first level incredibly hard, and for a bit thought I couldn't move upwards at all. It also took me reading the comments to realize that draining *was* actually working and I just didn't notice. Besides this, I can't find a good way to drain the moving turrets unless I've got them stuck between a rock and a hard place.
It's a good concept, and the graphics are definitely nice, but unless my suspicions are right and I **was** doing something wrong, then the gameplay really needs some work from where it stands. It's understandable of course – this is Ludum Dare after all, unfinished games are common – It's just that I personally found this too difficult to successfully play in its current state.
In the interest of being honest, I've got to say that the gameplay could've done with a little touch up, as I had few cues as to what a move would do (namely Maximize, other things like attack power were obvious), and regenerating seemed like a waste of a turn given how much damage you'd end up taking.
However – in the interest of being honest – this is a very very well polished entry, and the graphics, graphical effects, and audio to meet them were all fantastically pulled off. The enemies were well designed, even if difficult to fight, and the game was interesting throughout. Additionally, I am a sucker for puns and cats.
All that said, well done overall! A good entry worthy of good scores.
Levels were relatively interesting, although I felt there were a few unforgiving parts. Besides that, there were a couple parts where coin chasing caused me to die either through missing fuel or hitting walls - I list that as an issue because the typical suggested path in level design is to use the score object (like coins) to guide the player in the right direction, and this game did a little of the opposite.
Also, while the games concept wasn't that interesting or innovative, and it did feel like the theme was a little stuffed in randomly, but the audio was pulled off quite well, and the controls (even if they were only one button) were smooth to use and I wasn't left feeling frustrated.
Controls felt strange to use — I feel like it would've been better with a simplistic 'tap space to jump' system as opposed to what it had, as I'd get split second stops randomly. Also, dashes from cones would stop sometimes when I expected them to have been refreshed by a cone near the end of the duration.
Decent entry, but I couldn't find the tie to the theme and the gameplay was quite repetitive after a bit.
So my two main takeaways from playing this are thus: -Controls are difficult to use. I couldn't pinpoint any one reason; just that jumping felt wonky, collisions felt strange and camera movement felt hard. -Gameplay was good. I'm a sucker for upgrade system games. Other than that, sound was alright and graphics were pretty good. In the end, this makes for a good entry; nice job!
OxiClean was made for the purpose of funding Steroid-Turtle research? I KNEW IT!
But seriously, nice game! Fighting enemies was kinda annoying given how fidgety aiming was, but because you couldn't die it evened out rather nicely. Only other thing I'd change is that the backtracking was also kinda tedious over time, and so either changing the level design to account for this or adding a sprint feature would help immensely.
Before I go further, please bear in mind, I haven't played the post-jam, however I *have* read its changes, so take that as you will.
Anyway, I liked the general idea, and it was a pretty good sign that I played for about half an hour, so as far as gameplay and fun go, you've done quite well!
I have to say though, it was very hard to see things at first. I got adjusted to it eventually, but just about everything being glossy black didn't bode well for contrast, and I had to see the images just to find out where building text was. I also did not expect the black enemies either, and they were hard to notice for a while. In addition to this, I also couldn't see the trenches until I fell into them.
I had a little trouble with enemies at first, but I quickly found out that if you rush to get a third generator during the first few waves, you can get it up and running and be a much better spot for the rest of the game. I'm rather certain had I tried, I could've gotten a fourth up at some point and quite possibly found myself nigh-invincible.
Solid entry overall. I plan to try the post-compo for myself to see what you've done, as I liked this a lot.
This is actually one of the most interesting adaptations I've seen so far. Really like the idea of fighting with a Tetris-style power selection. Found it hard at first, but when I got adjusted it became nicely balanced, and was fun to play throughout. Nice job!
Very nice graphics! The gameplay could use touching-up, given how repetitive it was, and the music would obviously add to the experience, but even without that you managed to make a very pretty game that was enjoyable to play. Nicely done!
