LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Stop the Goblin Army by rhill 2015-04-22T18:08:00

Awesome, made me laugh! Love driving into the goblin pins. I felt it got old quick though, and it was too easy to get a strike. Maybe adding some obstacles to get in the way of the car and making the board wider might help.

Lord of Spiders by echa 2015-04-22T19:55:00

Good job with the coding and controls! Some nice crunchy bug sounds could really improve the feel of the fighting. The combat was a little unclear about how you attack fast at first, then slow, and two different colored health bars that I wasn't sure what they meant. It became repetitive really quick though. That said, it's still a really great submission, and I love the concept.

Fireman vs Zombies by ripatti 2015-04-22T15:56:00

The game wont play for me. After I open the application it says it wasnt started correctly and then immediately closes.

Bookshelf Brawl by TeamQuadratic 2015-04-22T19:10:00

Very cool! Great music and sound effects. Good work!

Crump Rush by OnlySlightly 2015-04-23T17:10:00

Great entry! Music works very nice. Some things I didn't enjoy: The self propulsion by explosion was definitely finicky and didn't behave how I wanted. The death sound was really loud and abrasive. It would have been easier on the eyes to have the screen fade in and out after dying. Last, the difficulty spiked up when you introduced the blades. The level of precision needed in that first blade level felt too high compared to the lack of precision needed with the earlier levels. That being said, I still really enjoyed myself and like this game a lot!

Star Driller Ultra by Omiya Games 2015-04-22T19:42:00

Great design! Nice audio and visuals, reminds me of some old space piloting games. I really like the alternating pitches of when your fuel is depleted. One problem I had, was the words for who your target locked onto is slower than the camera.

The morning type by Liam :D 2015-04-22T15:32:00

Hey the link wont work for me, it says: "You don't have permission to access /content/ld32/ on this server."

The morning type by Liam :D 2015-04-22T17:48:00

Nice! I had fun :) I could see this as a learn a new language/learn to type said language game that could be really useful for people. But for that I think the person would have to be looking at every object and then typing it's name, rather than just type things that could be contained in an object, like the closet.

God's Going to Cut Em Down by emmelineprufrock 2015-04-22T15:48:00

Awesome art style and very interesting and unique world! I particularly like the image of the girl lying in bed. I was disappointed that the sex was completely implied and just skipped entirely. That's the best part! Also when she asks what you want, they all lead to the same response, so why have a choice there? Last, I wanted some more choices near the end, like charging Mary for riding in my truck.

Billy McMath Solves Problems by Manky 2015-04-23T17:29:00

Great drawings, great characters!

You Are Tim by PapaCheech 2015-04-23T18:04:00

Love the character sprite and sound/music worked extremely well for the game. The puzzles taught me everything well in the beginning, but it felt stale and repetitive towards the end.

Mirror Mirror by Kevlanche 2015-04-23T18:18:00

Nice music and smooth controls! It would be nice to have a pick up mirror btn, and a rotate mirror other direction btn. I felt on the level with a ton of mirrors that I knew the solution instantly, and I couldn't turn the mirrors as fast as I would have liked, b/c I couldn't choose the direction. I felt that the gemstones and Boo looking ghosts didn't thematically fit together, it seemed like random elements. The being said, I still really enjoyed myself!

Your Opinion, Adventurer? by Ossi 2015-04-22T19:48:00

An interesting Idea. I feel the gameplay was lacking, because I just clicked Yay to everything and won. I don't like reading text unless I know it will impact how I play the game and if I have some investment in the world/mechanics. A score is just a number, challenging gameplay makes that number have meaning.

Quadrata lux by Maek 2015-04-22T17:41:00

Cool! Interesting mechanic. I would suggest adding some more rewarding feedback for hitting the green things, and getting a new ability. Also I wasn't sure why I ran out of blocks to throw, maybe have a number that shows how many you have left. The health mechanic was a cool feature, how the games colors show you your health amount.

Jump Gun by renanlindner 2015-04-22T19:00:00

Really great game feel, and a fun, interesting mechanic of shooting yourself up to higher heights. I could see a lot of fun things develop from that simple mechanic, and potential variations on it. Very nice entry! Maybe the gold squares should give more reward for collecting them.

Wounded by Words by Traumendes_Madchen 2015-04-22T18:03:00

Its obvious a huge amount of work went into this game, the art and sound are fantastic. I can see there is a deep intricate story as well. I started to read the story, but then I just started to click as fast as I could to skip the whole thing. I think it's a mistake to put so much exposition at the beginning of a game, before the player is invested in the mechanics. I usually skip text unless I've already been pulled in by the game. Would this not have been better as a manga or anime? I got all the way to the end just clicking as fast as I could(Granted, it was the bad ending). My suggestion is if you're going to make a game, tell the story with the game mechanics.

Frazzle Dazzle by hexdie 2015-04-23T16:16:00

Awesome game! Fun mechanic of the jump hover, and nice theme. Controls were solid.

THUMP by Steffan 'Ruirize' James 2015-04-22T20:06:00

Great visuals and physics. I like the idea behind the game play too, but I think it could have been developed more. The loud, high pitch charging noise was too grating on my ears. Also I don't think I was able to euthanize those little drones on purpose, every time I tried to knock one in it would just bounce out. I would say the theme was confusing and the goal unclear in the beginning.

Not My Panties! by Karai17 2015-04-23T17:42:00

Game crashes when I press Play on my PC

EXECUTION by stray 2015-04-23T17:23:00

I love the art and music, works very well together. However I thought the message was completely surface level and cliche, no deep meaning for me. What is the message, "Don't execute people"? I have no alternatives in this game, other than just waiting and getting no feedback or, doing what every player will do, trying to interact with the game. Emotional string pulling is manipulation and I found no insight into life or relevancy in this game's concept.

Bard! by StrayByte 2015-04-22T19:22:00

Great job! That's a lot of work you put into this. Cool character design, and I love the guitar solo magic attack! It does feel like a missed opportunity to have a game about fighting with musical notes and not having any sound. Also the parallax is a bit jarring. I would also recommend keeping the dead bodies of enemies around, it gives a sense of progression and "badassery". A couple bugs to note: At one point the enemies stopped showing up, and my character wouldn't stop moving to the left. But like I said, a wonderfully themed game and great visual designs. Keep it up!

Gift Of The Gods by MightyToast 2015-04-22T21:16:00

Fun! I liked it a lot, controls and movement feel great. I refreshed it to get a new weapon, but all I got was toast... but I like toast so its cool.

payload by rburema 2015-04-22T19:35:00

Cool idea, and a good entry. I was confused in the beginning though, its always nice to teach the player in the first level rather than having them have to read the help screen. I did get bored rather quickly however, perhaps add some rewarding feedback for destroying the goal block.

Aora, Spirit of Nature by Archive Studios 2015-04-22T16:20:00

Hey really awesome submission! Love the art. the background and environment is beautiful, especially with the atmospheric music! I also enjoyed navigating the world with the hawk ability. Some stuff I didn't like: to me the character felt too slow. I would have liked to have seen my characters health. It would have been nice to hear auditory ques when I take damage. After the 3rd save stone, I felt a little bored as the wanderlust waned, as there was little variation in the environment and nothing new mechanically was introduced.

Super SALT Helmet by DarkwindMedia 2015-04-23T17:55:00

Very nice game, fun movement and high level of aesthetics. I love the screen transitions between levels. I think you should have the player not be able to hold his power indefinitely, or else the foo strategy becomes to just stay held down until an enemy makes the first move. Good work!

Bottom : Unconventional Weapons at bug scale by SuperUserNameMan 2015-04-22T15:32:00

That was fun! I like the rotation element as a potential for changing game mechanics and strategy and it was fun to have the whole world rotate when you move. I would have liked to see that world rotation effect the strategy to a greater degree. The arrow keys also weren't as responsive as they could have been.

Aqua Marine by Bashabookoos 2015-05-03T02:00:00

Thanks everyone for your amazing feedback! I really appreciate it! :)

Love the graphics and sounds cape, Puzzles needed a bit more to keep me interested.

Fish SLAP: Quest for the Princess Fish by Troll Games 2015-04-23T17:35:00

I like the enemy characters! We both have a Top hatted and monocled sea creature enemy in our games x)

Rhythm Gunner by DDRKirby(ISQ) 2015-04-23T18:33:00

Great music!

Discharge by Frozen Fractal 2015-04-22T18:15:00

Amazing! I really felt scared of the lighting cloud. wonderful environment, reminds me so much of Polyfauna, the Radiohead/Thom Yorke App. I would definitely recommend you check that out, they create a wonderful environment through Thom's trippy music. Throwing the tree was cool too. Good work!
