Not really my cup of tea, but good none the less.

Not really my cup of tea, but good none the less.
Ah yes.
This design is something else.
Like a nice looking Virtua Fighter.
Great mood I must say.
As always your LD stuff is good.
A fascinating trip through an unusual world. I have so many questions about this world now and wish I could explore more. Also, I love what you've done with the art. It's definitely a unique and compelling direction; I like it!
I really didn't find any connection to the theme, then I read the post mortem and saw it's not just a feeling :) I really enjoyed the game, it was very engaging and drawing me into that world. It was sad, but very strong. I would love this story to continue.
Actually, I wonder, if ever there was anything like this, that really was long like a movie. It would be so awesome...
Anyways, the graphics and the transitions between them were fabulous, it's adding so much to the game, it really is very good.
Thank you zeejfps and PaperBlurt.
There is the intention to continue working on the piece. I enjoyed making it, and it feels to me like only the first chapter in a longer work. Thank you for the kind words.
Hmm, that's a first in Ludum Dare. Interesting idea my friend.
I really enjoyed the (implied) story, although some of the syntax butted up against my engagement, especially at the beginning. The art style is gorgeous. I can very much relate to spending too much time on the artwork :-) I'm looking forward to the continuation.
@ChronusZ, what syntax are you referring to?
Unfortunately I cannot run this, Linux and Web only.
Nice artstyle, but this type of game is not my cup of tea. Good job, tho, and good luck with your game.
It's not the type of game I like, and some times the game seems to have different styles of art, also, I didn't understand a good connection with the theme.
But, the idea is interesting =D
The writing fits the images nicely.
Wow. The art was amazing. Relation to theme or not, the game evokes a whole lot of feelings for me. Yeah, it's unfinished, and it's really linear which is a shame (I was disappointed on repeated playthroughs that I ended up in the same place again and again). But of all the entries I've played so far (this is my first LD), this one I think will stick with me the most. I hope you keep working on it.
Fantastic art and good storytelling. Some of the choices seemed superfluous as far as I could tell in a few play-throughs.
My only issue was asking her 'What's in it for me?' implying I expected some payment, then I have to tell her she owes me nothing afterward. C'mon! I'm a capitalist! (or I misinterpreted something)
I also wasn't sure what this had to do with the theme; not that I mind, I wasn't a fan of the theme to begin with. Nice art and mood though!
I explain a bit in my post mortem, but it didn't end up having anything to do with the theme. I have further scenes drafted but not playable that went into that, unfortunately time got away from me.
Beautiful, absolutely beautiful
i really enjoy it! I love visual novels+ this graphics? whoa.
Also check my game please! x)
I love the artstyle and the dark story! I don't really see the connection to the theme though, but otherwise you've done a great job. -Weloxux
Interesting art... It's a very fascinating game.
Would like to see an "complete" version of it.
This is really good. I love the mood, the style and if there ever is more I'd love to see it.
Nice storytelling, and the art ties in well. Believable dialogue.
The graphics and writing are great! One thing I really think you should try to check/fix/improve is if it is possible to reskin the UI-buttons ... the rounded corners are quite a mismatch to the angled/sharp shaped style of the BG images.
rad triangles. I am intrigued by the world you are creating here, and I enjoyed being pulled into it.
Awesome art style and very interesting and unique world! I particularly like the image of the girl lying in bed. I was disappointed that the sex was completely implied and just skipped entirely. That's the best part! Also when she asks what you want, they all lead to the same response, so why have a choice there? Last, I wanted some more choices near the end, like charging Mary for riding in my truck.
The art in this game really made it for me, it just completely set the mood. It took the minimalism of the text and continued the story.
My only criticism would be that I don't really feel like I had any player agency at all, my choices didn't seem to affect anything. But, I will replay it again to see how much my choices impact.
I was really pleased to read in your postmortem that you plan to continue the game, I think as soon as you make it less linear, and develop the story a bit, it'll be something really special.
The visuals really set a nice mood for this, and I liked uncovering the weird details of this world by little indirect snippets of information revealed along the way. I was a little unclear on the association to the theme. Nice little vignette.
Graphics load very slowly for some reason.
The approach to art is unique, if a little obtuse in some pictures.
Not particularly edgy, implied atmosphere is effective.
Replay value is added due to the significance of choices, which is always good to see with a text-based game.
Definitely hints at something ambitious. With more time and effort this could make an engaging narrative.
Very interesting little story. :)
I loved this art style.
The art style is great, although it's a shame the buttons and text don't seem to fit in with the feel of the images.
It didn't feel like it mattered what choices I made, but that doesn't seem to be the point. It was still engaging.
It's a very interesting opening, and I would have definitely kept playing if it went on longer.
The art and atmosphere are awesome, really enjoyed this visual novel style game. Though it's a bit short. Would have loved to see some more.
I went through every dialog option and wish there was more to it, there's only a few differing scenes and they all kind of end the same. It really did take me in though, it's an interesting story.
Played trough a couple of different paths. The art was nice and it was also cool how subtle the storytelling was. I found the first choice quite odd, as that was something that my character wasn't responsible for. It just felt weird controlling the world also.
Nice visuals, but I was more confused than intrigued by the story, and the choices seemed really odd. I never really had enough information about any of it.
Artwork looks fantastic. I think some sounds would add a lot, but we all have to cut out features based on the time frame. Overall aesthetic very intriguing but it didn't fully suck me in. Great job though, look forward to seeing more of your work!
high marks on theme and graphics, would like to see an extended version!
Whoah, the art and dialogues are definitely good and intriguing...
Really slick
Great graphics and mood, although some foreboding music would have added to the mood even more. I was very intrigued and wanted more, worth expanding on. Great job!
Enjoyed the art style and the story definitely left me wanting to explore further, in a good way.
So I really liked this. It was very story driven which is something I haven't seen in a lot of other LD games. Even had some nice little twists like the bra under the bed. I think I played through each variation of the game and they went together seamlessly. Really liked the graphics as well. Didn't fit the theme at all, but still very cool. The annoying thing to me was the lack of music. You could have really upsold the aesthetic with matching ambient BGM. Even some small stuff like the "You hear rustling option" would have been complimented nice with actually hearing that rustling. But in general, awesome work. So far its actually been my favorite since it's been the most original to LD.

Interesting story here. And yes, the weather is always shit :p
I really like the atmospheric graphics and the writing. I only played through once, so I don't know how much the choices change things, but I enjoyed the vignette. Good work!
The mood in this is nicely done. Enjoyed the glimpses into this other world which leaves you with so many questions. The art style is unique and works really well, just wish the buttons and text fit a bit better with the rest. Did end up playing through a few times to see the other results.
I don't know. I like the visuals, and would certainly check the full work - if you ever develop this universe past this short story... but for a LD entry I'd prefer something more on the game side. The choices just seem to add some flavour, with no real impact on the action.
@f7f5 I write interactive fiction, so for me this is a demo of the full experience the way that a floaty platformer or a fully realized visual world without much content would be for a different gamemaker.
I don't think that makes it less of a game, though I understand that's a personal choice.
The story had a nice sense of mystery to it, with each option opening new details about each character. Kinda wished there were more options, with more details, because each interaction you had with them were really fascinating. Too bad Noomi hardly talks.
Definitely look forward to see more!
There are a number of things about the writing that don't sit well with me. Some word choices ("ensconced" was not used well), but mostly the branch choices. You knock on the door and then two of the choices are not actions the player takes. That's an immersion breaker. Then, the player character is assigned too many traits for a game that is ostensibly putting the player in the character's shoes. Many of "my" reactions are things I would never say or do, and the way they are framed it just tosses immersion out the window.
I don't usually go for these visual novel type of games, but the art style in this is really cool! Definitely a great sense of mood in this game. Nice writing too.
Enthralling story/writing, and the graphics were a lovely complement. Wish it had a bit of audio to increase the mood. I enjoyed this gj :)
Love the art style. I included it in part 8 of my Ludum Dare 32 compilation video series, if you would like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/Fg_0-yj__pU
Kind of liked the low poly graphics, but it needed more work on it because i saw some error in it.
The "story", if we want to call it so, didn't take me [not that i understood where it want to go or mean].
i played the story 3 times choosing different answer, but i didn't see much difference.
With more work may become a good adventure.
I love the visuals!
Great start! If you can find a way to increase player fun, maybe by having more interaction, that would be cool. Good luck with this project!
