This is such a nice game. It was a lot of fun and a good use of the theme.

This is such a nice game. It was a lot of fun and a good use of the theme.
Apart from the slightly fast pace and how it's sometimes hard to slap the students, I don't really have any criticisms. Good job.
Starts off slow, but a pretty fun game.
Super cool idea.
This is brilliant.
This game was fun. So fast paced!
Movement was a bit slow, but the platforming was great.
Hey, just thought I'd let you know, the Linux build you've uploaded doesn't run on my machine, not sure why, and there's no makefile in the source tarball, so I can't build it that way, either.
Although very short, this game seems to have been coded well and sticks to the theme better than a lot of other entries out there. The enemy can't attack the player though, which eliminates any form of challenge.
Genius.
An enjoyable and well thought-out point-and-click adventure with a surprising amount of character development.
Could you possibly upload a Linux build? This game looks really fun but there's no Unity web player on Linux, sadly.
I really enjoyed this game and thought it was very interesting, however I was very stumped for the first couple of minutes. I couldn't figure out what I needed to do.
I enjoyed the concept and the way it was implemented. The way that the weapons were randomised at the beginning of each round felt kind of like a game show.
This game was a lot of fun! It took me a second to figure out how to play, but once I did the game became strangely addictive. Great job!
Hi occash. Which version can't you download? What sort of error are you running in to?
Thank you for all your compliments and criticism. It means a lot to us! In response to all the false positives on the Windows build, we are uploading a fresh build as we speak.
Brilliant.
Fun, but very, very difficult.
This was a fun game with some interesting level design, however I don't really see how it fits this Ludum Dare's theme.
I loved this entry, even though it is incredibly hard. As a concept, it's pure genius. Coupled with that great pun, you just can't go wrong.
I liked the concept and thought that it was implemented fairly well. A little more content and polish and this could be a very nice casual game.
On the technical side of things, the game has issues running in Chrome but it seems to run fine on Firefox.
I can't find many flaws with this game. It is well paced and it sounds and looks beautiful. You've done an amazing job.
The audio glitch when you reach the sumos took a star away from you in the audio category. Also, if you miss a sumo, you get stuck at that section, and the only option is to reload the game. Disarming was a nice mechanic, but it took me a couple of attempts to realise what was going on.
Cool game with an interesting concept. Could've been more polished, but good for what it is.
Unless I am missing a crucial gameplay element, I feel like this game is aiming for a style similar to Proteus. The problem is that there isn't enough spontaneity or atmosphere to immerse the player.
So incredibly fun.
Interesting, but I'm not sure I get it.
So much fun.
The game was enjoyable and had a good difficulty to it. It feels over all good, however audio is a bit annoying sometimes. - Flurkin
Some things to note:
1. TCP786, the music was created with GBFont by MaliceX.
2. CharlieLove is probably gone, but the next item needed there is the Hate Key. It's attained by defeating all of the enemies in the Gallery (Body, Head, Face, and then Aphrodite). Probably shoulda signalled that easier.
3. tomhunt - the crab's dialog holds the (metaphorical) key to progressing
I liked this game! I think that the mask mechanic could've been explored a bit more, but I really dug the aesthetics. Nice job!
~funkeh.
PS. to make this game work on case-sensitive file systems, change the assets/UI folder to assets/ui.
Tiring, but rewarding.
~funkeh
Pretty fun game. Interesting way to use the Love engine!
~funkeh
This game is perhaps the most realistic adaptation of the 1995 film 'Waterworld' currently available on the PC.
The stark philosophical premise of humanity living in a world submerged by ecological ruin permeates this game. Its ideas, its story, surround the contrast of human attempts to continue life in this desolate ocean. They float by on scraps, making a living from a single man in his submersible. It is poignant, and horrific.
I got to experience what it was like to a dolphin for once in my life. And a dolphin that shoots rockets, no less. 10/10.

Hi. Good entry for Ludum. Just some pointers based on my own experience with the game:
-Writing is the centrepiece of a visual novel, and I think it was a bit lacking. Your tone is very irreverent, but I think the self-deprecation went too far. Especially when things got a little more exciting. Maybe random humor isn't the best technique for this sort of game all of the time. Especially with dating sims, where you're attempting to understand and connect with certain characters.
-The menu at the bottom is a great idea, but you should make sure that it works with the background. The first screen, for instance, made the menu practically invisible.
-Fonts are a little all over the place. I'd try choosing some fonts with a consistent design rather than the sketchbook aesthetic that the title screen goes for.
-Because there was no music the shot effect at the coffee shop gave me a heart attack. Some free distribution ambient track would be nice.
I came hoping to enjoy a family-friendly clown-murdering experience for the PC, and left sorely disappointed. The game...was not available on the website.
Staring at a blank folder directory was not one of this year's better game experiences, but still better than the Elder Scrolls: Online. 7.5 / 10
I opened this game hoping for a realistic penal experience. Instead, I found myself waiting literal years in the game without release. Being an ethical and conscious video game player, I could not will myself to attempt escape. "Surely," I told myself, "I will serve my time and society will welcome me back with open arms." But nothing came. And so, as I type, I am still waiting for release...
Is this a scathing commentary of the state of the US penal system? Desperate for food and water, I attempted to catch the attention of a nearby guard, but all was in vain.
I am terrified I will be trapped in this prison forever.
Send help.
Alright game, though the pacing could have been a little quicker with faster movement and dialog, but it's just...
...well...
...I was hoping the secrets were going to be...um
dirty secrets
Good game. Any game that looks like a Windows 95 maze screensaver is objectively graphically appealing. It taps into that little synapse still buzzing with endless left and right turns. Could have benefited from more consistent range of textures, though, but good work.
The dropbox link for this game leads to a 404. Looks like this hidden sub is...well...actually hidden?
Neatly polished game, but I think I played this before on 'Mavis Beacon Teaches Underwater Touch Typing'.
Not to seem like a bit of a party pooper, but there are (unfortunately) no corpses to explore on the link provided. In fact, there really isn't anything at all, to be honest.
With ulterior motives in mind, I nefariously constructed 'Vault 124' with a school and retirement village. Yes. That would be my experiment. The children and the elderly. Both weak, impressionable, in need of care. Who would dominate? With this in mind, I recorded my deeds, my experiments. They would never know.
At 280 FPS, I think this game performs well. It's standard platforming fare with fairly good non-pixel graphics (rapidly becoming a rarity). Two things, though: sound could have really made the game seem more polished, and the 'jump' key shouldn't have been mapped with the 'shoot' key.
Otherwise, real neat.
I was an embryo when some of the greatest text adventures were made, but - suffice to say - my little half-formed amoebic brain at the time would have enjoyed them just as much. Good old DOS!
This text adventure is alright, but could have been more fully-formed. I didn't finish it - game progression was poorly signaled and commands could have been more intuitive. Also a lot of inconsistent grammar all around the place, like sentences without full stops leaving me hanging
Hotline Miami for 2001! Think fast, or think dead! Smoke and whiskey, and lots of blood! Maximum damage! CyberDeath 3000! Nokia N-Gage! Shoot to kill!
This is amazing! Definitely reminds me of Wind Waker. Very good work. The squid was a nice game mechanic.
~funkeh
I dream of a coffee future. I want there to be cocoa beans in my bedsheets, my toothpaste, my business suit. I wish for nothing more than pure cocoa caffeine to flow through my arteries. This is my dream. You have realised my dream, in video game form. Thankyou.
Pretty fun game! A bit confusing at first, but easy to figure out.
~funkeh
...On the positive side, it's still a better gaming experience than Duke Nukem: Forever!
Assisting a manta with pregnancy should be a national duty, on par with assisting the elderly to cross the street, and enlisting schools to make paper hats for the homeless. I consider this game to be an educational service to the community on par with 'Ronald Reagan - Speaks Out Against Socialized Medicine.' Excellent work.
It's as if Death Worm and Snake had a illegitimate love-child. With height, and the steam, lava, and water game mechanic, it does go beyond the Snake comparisons, but got old fairly quickly.
Nice attempt, I guess - I understand it's nowhere near finished.
Perhaps to develop the game you could work on a script that inverts the character sprite when it turns left. Also the jumping height is fairly reasonable, but momentum is pretty extreme...there's no turning in the other direction mid-jump if you overshoot.
The player movement could have been a little faster up and down, and some it certainly could have had a more intuitive interface explaining what exactly the onscreen numbers are for. For debug? A game mechanic? It is a mystery.
The game mechanic's core concept has been done to death before, but it still handles fairly well. Some more graphics could have made the game a little more engaging to play.
I liked the concepts and the art was fine. You did a good job. :) I enjoyed the game play, but the dash feature was kind of an issue.
This was a really fun game.
~funkeh
A fair rehash of the Atari 2600 game E.T in which you dig the graves of your foes whilst being pursued by child predators in a hellish, abstract dreamscape. Educational!
I love this. The lighting system looks really good.
~funkeh
Nice game, could've done with some background music though.
~funkeh
This is adorable. Great game mechanics, solid animations. Good job all round.
~funkeh
Damn good.
I failed twice darnit. Ended up succeding.
The way you connected worlds is great, graphics fit very well, the mood was set by your use of the health.
I liked it alot.
- Bradley
Fun, but fairly one dimensional. Some more gameplay elements would've been great. Looks beautiful though!
~funkeh
Buggy Grampas these days. - Flurkin
Great job! Perfect idea! - Flurkin
I made it crash and it didn't like. - Flurkin
Impressive that you're using your own engine! This game was ambitious, but I had a few problems. I fell off the edge and fell forever, and also my mouse cursor never disappeared from the screen. However, this game is great and you've done well.
~funkeh
Absolutely brilliant.
~funkeh
It was a alright idea. - Flurkin
This is a very good game and it fits the theme perfectly.
~funkeh
I broke da game. - Flurkin
Amazing game with a beautiful concept. Imaginative use of the theme.
~funkeh
Beautiful work.
This type of game can be difficult to balance, but I think you did a good job.
~funkeh
Nice atmosphere, got terrified when I ran out of battery.
~funkeh
Great idea. - Flurkin
The controls could use some re-adjustments.
Great idea. - Flurkin
Such a beautiful game. Too bad you ran out of time for sound, it would've added so much to it.
~funkeh
Nice job!
~funkeh
Nice job. The jumping mechanic was a bit strange though. There is also a bug where you can jump up walls.
~funkeh
I caught onto the theme very quickly and good application of the theme.
The graphics are ok, nothing really stuck out about them.
To me there was nothing new about actually playing the game, the background music really annoyed the hell out of me, and the mood never really hit me.
- Bradley
Brilliant job!
~funkeh
Sweet job dude.
~funkeh
Windows build fixed!
@mess110 You can try the Ubuntu build, which might work. If you want to use the source file, this game requires LÖVE 0.9.1 (the Ubuntu version is out of date), so you'll need to use the PPA version (https://launchpad.net/~bartbes/+archive/ubuntu/love-stable).
@kibertoad You have to find keys in caves to open the temples and fight knights. We didn't make that clear, sorry.
@Robot Soul Games We've added a Windows mirror in 7zip format which should work.
@Lasty Thank you!
@Polona The wind ability is activated by pressing the Left Control button instead of Space Bar. Sorry for not making that clearer. Thank you for your praise!
How can I handle all these space trains?!? Snake 3 Good job! - Flurkin
Concept is great and the game is fun. Nice job!
~funkeh
Sweet, little puzzle game. Lots of potential for a full version.
~funkeh
Very fun, would've loved some sound though.
~funkeh
Amazing work!
~funkeh
Nice use of theme, but does cause a lot of slowdowns on my hardware.
~funkeh
Simple and fun. I feel like the final dialogue ends too soon, a bit anticlimactic. But still nice.
~funkeh
KITTY ZIRA!?! - Flurkin
This is crazy inventive. Nice job!
~funkeh
Sweet graphics. Platforming mechanics need a bit of work, but other than that, good job!
~funkeh
The single music track and slow running speed annoyed me, but the game was cool in general. Good job!
~funkeh
Amazing work! Challenging and fun. I definitely was not expecting that mechanic when I fell for the first time.
~funkeh
Great game, good idea. lacking is sound, also hard to play on laptop. Good job. - Flurkin
The player's bullets are so much louder than the enemies'. Other than that, I thought it was nice.
~funkeh
Inspiring work! Beautiful artwork and a captivating premise.
~funkeh
Nice game, seems very difficult to finish. Well programemd though.
~funkeh
Beautiful graphics! Difficult gameplay, but fun.
~funkeh
Difficult, but fun.
~funkeh
This was insane. Amazing graphics work!

Crash that stopped my game.
Also spamming space-bar prevents actually starting the game.
Other than that good.
Nice graphics that remind me of 16 bit.
Samey mechanics and goals.
Took awhile to figure out how the theme was in there.
Audio was very aesthetic, quite close to the sound of the 16 bit but not quite to be so.
A bit repetitive so quickly became boring.

It's a good idea mayne. - Flurkin
Unique and captivating. Great work!
~funkeh
Great ideas. - Flurkin
Great idea, needs some work. Felt the controls weren't right. - Flurkin
Was a great idea. I really liked it. - Flurkin
YOU MUST BUILD MORE FARMS!
I enjoyed the amount of work that you put in the game. It looks well polished, but a tutorial would be splendid! Great work.
Thanks for the Linux build! Game was fun, I liked the changing music.
~funkeh
Absolutely beautiful.
GG
Exciting and very interesting.
Nice job, looks awesome.
Interesting platformer puzzle mechanic, but could have benefited from (1) a counter to limit and indicate how many blocks you can store (2) greater direction in where to go for the game to develop, either through signs, levels, or a narrative.
All in all, a game with a lot of potential.
Nice whistling. I've got to admit most of my play time was just exploring the map that you designed - perhaps a greater focus on collection or exploration could enhance the experience - just an idea. The models and animation is smooth and appealing for a Unity game, with no bugs.
Just keep doing whatever it is you're doing, it's clearly working well!
Very good entry! Lots of fun, can get difficult though.
Small, fast and challenging game, though the controls were a little awkward. The music was really professional on this one. You did a good job with it - keep it up!
Interesting strategy approach to the theme, but definitely coming a little too strong with the concept - a tutorial may elucidate the proper strategy to win in this game. The moving bars as well didn't really provide a proper gauge of how well I was doing in each region.
Cute cat. Best Ludum feline puzzle game of the year.
No need to change the formula when the existing game works well - keep at it! I think more mechanics and obstacles to the completion of the levels could break up the labyrinthine feel of the map, which doesn't pose much of a challenge in its current form. Still, great effort!
Pretty inventive, very nice idea!
Pretty ridiculous, but lots of fun.
All I see are the eyes now, the terrifying, unblinking eyes, staring at me, judging me. I am afraid to go to sleep. I fear I will see the eyes in my dreams tonight.
Or will they be nightmares?
Nice, like an updated version of Asteroids - though unfinished, a little work could turn this into a very promising and nostalgic arcade-style game. Great work.
Video games masquerading as biting anti-authoritarian social commentary! I'll admit I spent a while seeing what, if anything, I could get past the radar of the ammo search service, but no dice - looks like Google SafeSearch has served your game well!
The music got a tad repetitive though.
Playing this game and using the old man's 'tool of power' (!) makes me feel dirty.
Would recommend.
This game is possibly the solution to America's looming drought crisis. I am currently petitioning Obama to give farmers guns and ammunition immediately.
Unity graphics are good, novel and funny idea, good variation of plants and amusing pun. Harvest Boom. It really runs off of the tongue.
Threw junk at aliens until there was no more junk to throw.
Had a mental breakdown.
Would recommend.
Pretty nice colour scheme. I like your weapon choice. The game is a lot of fun :)
This game is like 'Doom' with diabetes.
Reminds me of scaling monsters a la Shadow of the Colossus combined with b-ball. Collision could have been improved for maximum dunkage and ease of climbing the thing. Neat idea, though.
You make games that look like they came from a 90s DOS shareware CD.
Your screenshots look like they were taken on a Windows 95 operating system.
I find these things really endearing.
I'm not joking.
Adorable. Keeps you interested through story, makes you want to complete it :D
I love historical games and yours is done with a great sensitivity to the source material.
Well, maybe not the whole 'Nero singing to appease Vindex and the Gallic rebels' thing.
But upon his suicide a hysterical Nero is said to have bemoaned - "What an artist dies in me!"
Art indeed truly misses Nero.
Would recommend.
Joe, I'm going to level with you. Ever since Murder Clown, I've been worried about your sanity. We all have, Joe. We just want you to be okay. But after this game we're very worried about you. Your obsession with cheeseburgers has gone too far - it has to stop.
Please call home so we know that you're okay, Joe.
The cheeseburgers must stop.
Sincerely,
Your parents
I love games that reward individual exploration and immersion in the surrounding environment. The atmosphere of this one was very well done - it's a full 5 on 'mood' for me, I enjoyed it very much.
Very simple, but fun :)
Absolutely riveting.
Boozehound: Encouraging Irresponsible Drinking For Public Safety Since 2015
Nice job. Though the game isn't too difficult, I think a life system to avert the one-hit kill and perhaps more aggressive enemies may make this game more compelling.
The core mechanic is very good, though, and further experimentation with the powers, and their acquisition and use, could be enough to make a fully-fledged action game. Good job!
I love this game! It's a lot of fun, and definitely good use of the theme. The default names for weapons are hilarious, and if anyone says otherwise, they'll be looking down the business end of my Heady Stick of Blading.
Mavis Beacon Teaches Sleeping?
Though there are animations that play when you fail, I think, maybe inversely some indication of successful typing would also reward the player as well. A good job for a last minute effort.
This game is very funny, but not very realistic.
For instance, when I stick thumb tacks up my nose, I have to go to the hospital. So not very immersive.
Would recommend.
I know you're rushed, but you may want to proofread your game before publishing, as it's heavily text-based and riddled with little errors, but it's no big deal. Also, breaking up your massive paragraphs may make the text more accessible to the reader.
Would read again.
Music-based games are always charming, though I didn't expect to be slaughtering the masses with my operatic tone.
Like Pokemon Snap, but for the recently dead.
Would recommend.
I don't know. Do girls really need all these violent weapons to hurt someone?
Because Jane broke my heart when she left me for another guy and she didn't lift a finger.
Graphics load very slowly for some reason.
The approach to art is unique, if a little obtuse in some pictures.
Not particularly edgy, implied atmosphere is effective.
Replay value is added due to the significance of choices, which is always good to see with a text-based game.
Definitely hints at something ambitious. With more time and effort this could make an engaging narrative.
Came for the lemons, was sorely disappointed when not a lemon was to be found. Still more lime than lame though.
Would recommend.
I, for one, welcome our new insect overlords.
Very fun. The random teleporting was a bit disorienting though.
Has all the best of established open-world art games, namely Journey, with an engaging and creative world to explore. I think this game has a lot of potential - good work!
The cubes were so intense they caused my computer to crash, my home's power to cut out, and my bank account to abruptly and mysteriously empty.
Would recommend.
Very atmospheric. Could've had more content, but is good for what it is.
Dora the Explorer with murder.
Aside from the learning and trial and error, some more challenge via refined RPG mechanics could have been nice.
Man, this is awesome! Had a lot of fun, liked the core mechanic a lot.
Really fun concept, and I like the way it was executed. Pretty cute :)
Highly unrealistic. Everyone knows that all grandmas can do is chain smoke and complain about politics.
This game was a lot more immersive once I pretended that the 'grandma' was just an albino suffering from hunchback and skin disease.
DOS-based goodness.
Chip's Challenge 2: The Village
Fun! Really hard, but super enjoyable.
I tried this hypnotic technique after playing this game as I was mugged by a biker in an alley outside a dive bar. I was assaulted with a knife, severely wounded, and left for dead with my wallet and hypnosis pendulum stolen.
Would recommend.
And on this day, Poland can into space.
Best wandering aimlessly through geometric landscape simulator of the year. Like the star effects. Unfortunately the only strange thing I came across in your game was an invisible wall. (!)
Great experiment in gameplay. I think you've already hit the nail on the head with the sort of things that might improve this into something self-contained as a full game. The element of choices in crowd control and the various effects and outcomes of making those choices was fairly clear to me, and encouraged some experimentation. All in all, a really good Ludum submission!
I also appreciate your comments on my game and elsewhere! It's obvious you're very committed to Ludum and providing feedback, which is great to see.
Poignant once you realise that the wise Chinese man said nothing - perhaps nothingness is the only wisdom that can be expressed by Man?
Or it could be that the game is broken.
Playing as a vengeful slavic geriatric with a vendetta against the squatting youth and their floozies has definitely been one of the more unique experiences I've had playing games on Ludum.
Perfect for play on my Atari 2600. Please make a cartridge port immediately, Atari would be very impressed by this!
This game has inspired me to build a Void Ray in my basement. It is looking promising but the uranium is making the Ray highly unstable and i fear that disaster could strike at any
Simon with a gun.
You armed Simon with a gun.
So long, everyone! We're all doomed and there's nothing we can do about it, as Simon establishes world domination.
Very well-polished survival game with neat minimalistic graphics - reminds me of a great flash game called Gods Will Be Watching and idle game mechanics. Well done!
Hey guys, sorry about that. All dependency issues are resolved, so please try to download the game again :)
UPDATE: Linux build now up!
@Shimmergloom: Have you extracted the game from the .zip file to a folder?
@grozamorei: The way to complete "Don't Scare the Bird" is to not move your mouse or press any keys :) There is no end as of yet, maybe one day.
Hey all! The OSX version -should- be fixed now.
@Davikin92: Just don't move the mouse or press any keys. Thanks for playing :)
my mom is jay kay rowling and shes probably going to sue you for a million dollars for making this """"REPRESENATIONS""" of her book hally porrer
No fighting. Only love.
User instructions, ability to lose, and more challenge would make this a more interesting experiment. Also, the procedural generation element is unclear, making the central gimmick of the game ambiguous.
Well, I guess Gluttony is considered to be one of the cardinal sins...
Crashes on startup with 'not responding' error, I hope you're able to resolve the elusive problem.
Very professionally-made game, could easily stand on its own as a self-contained flash game on any site. Controls took a bit to get used to, but became intuitive after a little figuring out. Still impressed that this only took a couple of days to make!
Could be an interesting concept - note that you can exit the starting door and wander off into the inky void on your own. Maybe some variation in the level design could make the map less labyrinthine.
The game said, 'Don't fall here', and I said, "Screw you, I'll do what I want," so I fell, and then I couldn't get back up. Music was 10/10 though.
It's funny...when I drink bleach, all that happens is that I start throwing up blood...
Dragging and dropping is possible, just difficult - increasing the sensitivity in your game may be necessary. The jazz muzak loop certainly comforted my dying seconds, though.
Strange game! Input is a little unresponsive, adding to the 'frantic flapping fish' feel of the game but also making it a lot harder.
One Million Supermans.
Some basic animation (flashing indicating death, for instance) and variation in sprites could make the SHMUP a little more interesting and responsive in gameplay, as it is it feels a little repetitive.
Also who is Ruth Ann Manning anyway?
You have my gratitude for making a turtle-related game. As a long-time turtle games developer, I am proud that turtles are now getting the full representation they deserve on video games.
Expected lewd manoeuvres, got black tea instead.
Would recommend.
Nice number-masher, but gets a little repetitive. Reminds me of the flash game Run for some reason. With some work (improving the abrupt game over via a life system, maybe) this could make a good game.
So much fast food. So much death.
Love the nefarious pastries, though the one-hit kill and speed of the junk food make it difficult to navigate the level easily, especially due to the controls.
My optic nerves have been cauterized, but I had a really good time. Thank you for introducing me to indigo-violet colorblindedness.
"I hope you think about after all this end."
Except I couldn't think about it at all.
Because I was a dog.
Would recommend.
You must like drawing. A lot.
Nice art theme, a game mechanic around the variation of art styles is very unique. Though the varied sketchy aesthetic works well for the ingame art pieces themsslves, a more sleek and uniform UI and map could make this game look a lot more professional. Good job!
Kind've like a Chip's Challenge except with snakes, which is always a plus. Unless you hate snakes.
It's nice to see a text adventure in a Ludum comp, they're few and far between.
It's a good, if basic, text adventure demonstrating all the usual features to expect such as inventory, accounting for general and specific objects, and so on. As with most text adventures, a help dialog would be useful.
Conspiracy Cookie Clicker?
Juice Box Man isn't the hero we deserve, but he's the hero we need right now. A vanguard for the weak and helpless. A fighter for the lost and dispossessed.
This game demonstrates knowledge of a lot of difficult techniques in 3D platforming - really well done. I can only imagine how good this would be with weeks or months of development behind it.
Looks like you're well on your way in the journey of game development!
In the future, try experimenting with the game mechanics - what if the goal was to do the opposite? What if you were the enemy instead of the shooter?
Best of luck with all your future endeavours in game programming!
Interesting hexagonal take on the tired tower defense genre. Figuring out what to do was a little confusing, despite the instructions, but after some time the game is simple enough. Perhaps providing a greater variety of enemies (and the methods they use to attack/move) and turrets/means of combating the 'EVIL SAND' threat may make long-term gameplay more rewarding.
Death by crab
More like - "Stomp the crabs whilst holding a fish for some reason." Nice minimalistic art design and music. Some polishing, maybe a developer logo at start, better heart icons, game over/score screen could improve the presentation of the game, but all the core elements are good.
You're the only other baby-related game in this competition. I respect that. There needs to be more baby representation in this competition. More babies equals more happiness for the whole world. Keep fighting the baby fight.
Very polished game, lots of fun to play!
A more consistent art style could be nice. Try making your own background assets instead of the JPEG mountain, which looks out of place.
Collision physics are great. I like the inclusion of an altitude score multiplier to shake things up, but the game could benefit from more aerial obstacles or challenges (rings, checkpoints) to sustain interest in gameplay throughout the level.
You know, medieval societies would trebuchet animal corpses into cities in order to break a siege with disease and pestilence.
But doing the opposite - flinging live sheep out of sieged castles - is much more fun.
Too many times I have wondered what it would be like to throw my brother on a pit of spikes so hard his intestines burst.
I no longer have to only dream.
I love the in-your-face design approach and the inclusion of excessive fraternal carnage. The addition of a tutorial is great to see, too.
Interesting idea, having two games running. But as said before, controls were too slow I feel.
Nothing new, but certainly worth the time to play with the odd weapons. Areas you might want to improve in are the graphics, which allude ignobly to a 2001 flash-era game, and the music, which sources itself straight out of a NES console. Other than that, good job!
Pretty sweet job. One thing I would improve would be making the character a different colour so that they stand out more :)
Absolutely gorgeous game with a really inventive and educational use of the theme. Good job!
Surprisingly in-depth, with a hint of strategy. I feel though that I'm only skimming the surface with this game - a guide or tutorial would be great. It looks like a lot of effort was made into making this political strategy.
This whole game seems like a subtle metaphor for something but I'm too afraid to explore its conceptual overtones.
Would recommend.
Good job! I really enjoyed the puzzles, and found them fun to complete.
By the way, we fixed up dependency issues on our game if you want to try it again :)
The genesis of some good ideas here, with nice little touches (such as the guard names and quotes) but a lot of work could be done on the art to improve the look and feel of the game. Best of luck with your future development!
Misread instructions and drank the contents of the bottle.
I'm drunk
Charles Barkley's Shut Up And Slam: Ludum
I have no idea what I'm doing but I'm enjoying it.
Demented.
Interesting physics-based puzzle concept. Some of them were a little too easy, I found. Animating and improving the UI, as well as adding more levels, is really all this game needs for improvement. Good job!
Pretty fun, sometimes hard to keep track of everything happening at once however.
Good, but I was hoping for better poop mechanics? All I see are pixels, not poops.
Though the objective to "just shit on them" may be one of the best aims possible in a video game.
And shit I did with delight. Would recommend.
Oh man, I really liked this. Auto-runner games are lots of fun.
Quick, fun, simple. Would be good with an end-game screen, but I like it :)
A deep psychological treatise on the effects of severe obesity featuring true next-gen art. I am very impressed by this game; it has completely blown me away.
Would recommend to children.
Game is simple, short, but an interesting concept.
Cute bear sprite! The gameplay is unexpectedly intense though, with both character and enemy movement faster than I would have expected. I don't know why I'm crushing enemies with a bear bounce but I'm having a good time.
Had fun until I was pooped on.
Incredible work. This is very high quality and super impressive.
Great jams, great baguettes, what else does a man want from a game? Maybe an assortment of wine and cheeses.
Would recommend.
I was also confused by the part with the wolf. I had completely given up on understanding and closed the game until I decided to see why "arrows" was listed in the description here, and then kept throwing axes at the wolf until the game lagged enough to be unplayable.
I really like what you did with the story being written as the player moves, and I feel like this had a lot of potential that may have gone unrealised.
This game cured by diabetes. Thanks MaYa!
This game cured my diabetes. Thanks MaYa!
It's like Battlezone on acid.
Would recommend.
The GameBoy sprite graphics are definitely the highlight here. I feel like I'm playing with my monochrome Pocket at my grandmother's house all over again.
Interesting crazy-house adventure game. Encountered some errors when drawing the cat for the paranoid - 'The label 'cat' could not be found'. Or is the game merely pretending to make me believe something is wrong?
Bizarre, but has potential in the vein of Marble Blast/Spectraball-type physics games.
The helpless skeletons are a laugh riot.
Boop.
Some thoughts:
-Nice graphics, some blurry textures, mostly due to their enlargement in the large scope of the game world.
-Music is professionally done, very nice.
-Dialogue is good but at times the large amount of exposition can be a little long and overwhelming, nonetheless the narrative is very broad and above the quality found in most story-based Ludum entries.
-Decent English translation, some awkward phrasing, but nonetheless the dual language option is rare to see in Ludum games due to time constraints.
All in all, a good game! It looks like a lot more time has been put into it than a few days, and that attests to the quality of the game.
More dicks than a San Francisco back alley.
Would recommend.
Pretty fun, but very difficult!
Pew pew pew pew pew piipiipii! Pew pew pew!
Mix of scribble art and smooth 3D models is nice.
The crawling fetuses were cute. I had a good time.
Does RL stand for Real Life?
Because Real Life was never this scary.
Appreciate the story, but the generic RPG Maker assets and game mechanics have been done to death so much it may be a good idea - with time and experience - to try breaking out of the paradigm of pre-prepared tools. It's still a good first foray into Ludum - I hope you do well.
gg no re
Nice use of the theme!
God bless America
It's a well-polished game, but not a very new idea (it's essentially a clone of Tempest, but with farts). It's a bit of a giggle to begin with, but the novelty of farting on people wears off fairly quickly - maybe it would benefit from adding a little more length or variety?
Well done on this one, I enjoyed playing it!
Hey, why is it that potty and poopy are really similar words? What's the word association there? Why do loo and poo rhyme? Is this subconscious? I don't know anymore.
I feel bad for slaying those rave skeletons - they probably just wanted to bring the spook party to Grandma's house.
Would recommend.
Interesting take on the theme, but in practice about as fun as proofreading my thesis paper.
The snowman makes up for everything though.
With a time machine, could easily be packaged as a frontrunner release for the Atari 2600.
Make pipes, not war.
A fellow LÖVE user! This game was pretty cool, very Asteroids inspired.
Interesting take on the theme, I like it!
Absolute chaos. I wish my drama classes were like this.
Some response on success would help the player gauge when they're going in the right direction.
I like the watercolour art style, fits the game very well.
I guess the only way to describe this is 'immense'. The music really added to the atmosphere, good job.
A mix between the chip graphics of Minecraft and the vengeful God-like destruction of Populous. Death is here and he is hell-bent on wreaking havoc. Maybe different forms of disasters could have added longevity to this game.
Would recommend.
Interesting, if a little frustrating to figure out the correct working combinations. After some time I decided instead to submit to the goo. I, for one, welcome our new Goo Overlords, and invite you to do the same. Hail Goo.
Great tunes, great umbrella murder simulator...this is certainly the life. A great addition to what seems to be this year's Ludum tradition of making innocuous objects kill people.
Would recommend.
This game brought out manic urges that I was not able to satisfy by playing this game.
I have learnt a lot about myself playing this game and realising my mounting urge to destroy.
Perhaps man itself is an inherent agent of destruction?
Would recommend.
On Chrome and Firefox I get music, but a white screen.
A charming and nostalgic game about the beauty of love and the purity of marital relationships. I am forwarding this game to the Catholic Church to see if we can distribute this in missionary schools across the world.
Would recommend.
"Why do so many of these games have rape?"
- A friend, 2015
Lots of fun!
This game stares into the soul of man and offers challenging and deep moral choices that delve into the philosophical heart of capitalism, and what it means to live in a for-profit society. Would recommend.
Overall a release-quality game with polished execution; the graphics and animation of the monster is especially impressive. Some more BG music would have added a lot to the experience, but regardless an excellent effort. Would recommend!
As a producer of duck-related content for this jam I was disappointed to find there wasn't an actual duck depicted in this game.
Short text-based game, no real narrative. Just a maze and a duck that isn't really a duck.
I think the looping effect back to the start from 'start the adventure' provides more confusion than it does meaning; presuming that was intentional.
I liked the chat interface and think that idea could be explored quite well in the future.
The effort put into the game is commendable. Very polished, clear interface, and lots of elements that add to the game such as voice acting. The visuals are really clear and well-done, making full use of the resolution provided. This is a very good game given the time constraints.
The voice acting for the cute/passive-aggressive monster isn't my thing but is probably really appealing for a wide audience. Gameplay is a little clunkier on a laptop as it relies so much on switching between powers which is awkward using a touchpad and number keys. Minor interface issues include the cursor blocking the description of a power at the bottom of the screen.
The structure of this works well as a typical incremental game, though I think the genre itself has been overdone to the point that it's not easy to distinguish oneself despite the good theme and polished graphics.
A gripping rendition of the tyranny and social stigma endured globally by the marginalised Goombas. I pray for all the Goombas of this world to emancipate themselves from the chains of oppression.
Would reccommend.
Though a surreal Escher-like exercise, there isn't much to this game beyond the visual splendor.
QWhat
Dress-up game touching on issues of body image? The short and sweet little concept games like this are few and far between and I enjoyed it.
A troubling exercise in subversive anti-semitism.
Would recommend.
Cool aesthetics bro
Good ideas expressed through development, and appealing art style, but the game feels incomplete and there's no progression I can see as the player walks off the edge of the screen.
The handling is too fast and imprecise to function as a great space shooter, but all the graphical elements are done very well.
Nice idea, but the execution is a little short and awkward. The mechanic of searching 'under' 'in' and 'on top' things is limited by the fact that I could just mash the keyboard and get everything by hugging the edge of the room in a few seconds tops. I get the impression that this was a short, sweet game made for effect and I think it does that well.
Concept-wise, panic-based games that get you pumped are great. I hope you keep up with these ideas and refine them into fun and more fleshed-out games in the future.
The idea of multiple views needed to track the 'prey' was good but the pace was a little too fast to really feel close a lot of the time. Increasing levels of speed or different difficulties could work. All in all, an immersive and atmospheric game.
Nice to see another developer using the LOVE platform! Interesting mechanics including the use of a dynamic health 'bar' to make the game more seamless. Limiting the projectile weapons might make the game more challenging. Would recommend.
A chilling game about the repercussions of demonic sock possession. Take heed, world, take heed.
This game's design is so good it deserves an endorsement from Congress.
Closely emulates the utter chaos experienced in early platformers, which is good. Nothing new for the genre, but it was enjoyable to play with a good variety of obstacles. Definitely challenging. I don't know how useful inclusion of multiplayer is, especially in the long-term; it may be a better pursuit to put more focus into the single-player experience.
A fairly simple but moving game exploring time-honored themes of death and love, in this case, both at once.
Like others said, this is the Capitalist version of Papers, Please. Would recommend.
Simple but engaging puzzle game. The basic logic behind the 'parents' worked well, it felt like you were indeed being chased.
Even the chicken's internal monologue is full of mispronunciations and typos! I think that was what you were going for; I hope. Funny little text-based game. Would recommend on chicken alone.
Still getting a runtime error - it's a pity; it looks like you've put a lot of effort behind this one.
Thanks you all for the great feedback! We've just uploaded a new version of the game which doesn't crash, so check it out again if that was an issue for you :)
A fascinating game about architecture and the structural features of labyrinthine mazes.
The parallax effect was impressive and added visual depth to the game. The sheer momentum made slowing down seem impossible. As a general distance-based sort of casual game adding upgrades and milestones could be the way to go for this sort of idea; I haven't played the games you were originally inspired by. Good job!
Nice subversion of the monster RPG format; very fitting to the theme. Art could be improved but the overworld was pleasant enough. More variation in monsters rather than color palette change would be a strong area of improvement. Otherwise, nice work.
Nice to see use of LOVE in an adventure game format. A mature and emotional game relevant to the present issue of refugees. All in all a polished and tense adventure game experience with a lot of narrative content for a jam game.
Would recommend.
This game does for arachnid conservation what Gorillas in the Mist did for primates.
Would recommend.
Good if basic stealth concept; reminds me of the cubicle stage in Path of Neo a decade ago. The game on Unity was quite choppy in performance, though that could be an issue on my part. Good work!
Error on Win 10: "This app can't run on your PC." Compatibility may need to be a priority at this stage.
A whale of a time.
I adore you. I have learned a lot from your game, such as who I can marry and who I can NOT marry. It has been educational.
Thank you.
Nice implementation of game mechanics. Obstacles or scorekeeping could be the next step in developing the game ideas. Generally I hate ogres so most of the gameplay for me was hitting the other ogre in the face with my victims. Satisfying. Would recommend.
This is the multiplayer experience that I have been waiting for all of my life.
Interesting concept and I love the time and effort you have put into the writing of this game.
Grabbing the papers and moving them offscreen could be improved by simply moving them from the point they were grabbed by the cursor.
Concept-wise it may not be a good idea to select the answer from a list as the writing easily leads into the solution without even looking at the details. Think about maybe implementing a mechanic where you select the clause and the feature on the bio to create a 'loophole'.
Otherwise this was an interesting take on the theme and concept. Best of luck with all your future games!
I personally prefer cave and dungeon trolls, but bridge trolls are acceptable enough. Would recommend.
Some more time and effort put into this game and you've practically remade SNES Mario Kart, but with monsters. Like Nintendo on acid.
I may be able to Grexit this game, but migrants can not Grexit the difficult situation they face in leaving their country.
Gun fame.
"And that night, on this barren knoll, the ghosts of RPG Maker rose once again to wreak havoc upon the world and cause pestilence and destruction in their wake."
Would recommend.
Faithful rendition of Monsters Inc.
You Are The Endless Clicker
An accurate and evocative representation of the political complexities between North-South Korean relations in the past decade.
Hey, if you guys want to access the secret levels in this game, just forward your SSN, credit card number, and home address to my email. I need these things to show you where the secret level is. Completely free. Not a scam: I promise.
Nice game, though. Would recommend.
The graphics on this game are incredibly appealing for a accessible casual puzzle game. You clearly have good experience with 3D design and animation and the result is a delight to look at. Good work!
This game made me throw up three liters of gastric fluid so I'm going to give it a 'three' on that basis.
This game reminds me of the historical re-enactment club my father's friend used to run. They'd dress up in chainmail and pretend to bash each other with steel weapons. I think someone even had to get an ambulance called for them once.
Anyway, nice RPG. Would recommend.
There is good planning behind the mechanics and the genesis of a historically engaging strategy game here. Definitely would recommend, and hope you develop these ideas into a more comprehensive game.
I didn't expect that twist at the end! Nice work.
Movement is excruciatingly slow even given the input lag problem. Not much motive to continue after getting the fourth upgrade. Music and sound effects would have added to the game.
I like the 80s word processor aesthetic. I especially like games that encourage you to learn their own internalised logic, such as the 'God' code of this game. Learning the ropes was fun and kept play interesting for a while. Good job at doing so much with graphically so little assets.
For an place called Chainsaw Island, the island is suspiciously lush with trees
Reminds me a little of Populous. Nice strategy format. With some more polish and clearer direction this could be really solid. Would recommend.
Tentacles are, without exception, a fun and essential game mechanic to any game they feature in.
Dialogue takes a little too long and is positioned oddly. Some doesn't fit in the window. There are typos ('Samatha!")
The idea has potential but choice is not signalled well to the player. The mother is not depicted; neither is it obvious that walking off screen indicates you 'abduct' the child. This doesn't make the idea's execution come off well.
Overall I don't think this has as much emotional depth or effect as others are saying, but at the same time the concept and effort put into the mall setting make this a creepy experience; which is a success - given what you're going for.
I don't mind the long text. Good variety of dating profiles, as you note relevant profile images would take up a lot of time but add to the humor of the game. The canned Twine structure is subverted a little by having (what I assume) to be randomised profiles).
Come to think of it the mature or irreverent stuff is quite amusing. It is an adult monster site where everyone's looking for a one night stand, after all.
Good work guys!
So cute! Had a lot of fun.

I run this on a laptop and a message appears saying that the browser cannot allocate enough memory to WebGL to get it to run. Pity.
More game features could make this unique. Good demonstration of programming nonetheless if this is a beginner's entry. Hope you guys continue to make games in the Jam!
Nice game, but I'm more of a Digimon, Digital Monsters fan myself.
Cucumis love, cucumis life.
Good game, but there is a bug in which the options selected when the game over screen is reached don't come back when you start a new game. Great, humorous dialogue though.
I dunno, I'm sort of an apple person, so this game doesn't really speak to me as well as it could...
1995 was historically a very unlikely year for global thermonuclear war to have developed. This point is probably inimical to the quality of the game.
Pixels. What's there to say? For a game made in a few hours this is self-contained and works well. I think the mechanic is definitely worth developing into a more fleshed-out game.
This game relives nightmares in high school of geometry tests in maths class. Thanks for bringing that memory to the front of my mind. I will never be able to sleep again.
Would recommend.
I'm going to go out on a limb on this one and say that yes, you absolutely are the monster.
There aren't enough visually bizarre games. This is one of the few gems that will forever be cherished as a cornerstone of post-surrealist art.
This is essentially Snake remade. The 16kb filesize made me laugh, reminds me a lot of the heydays of computer programming. If you're going to go retro consider letting the font reflect that aesthetic; the music was fitting though. More broadly, remember that early games like Snake have been reproduced a lot. Think of ideas and mechanics that can bring new life to your game to make it unique.
Nonetheless, good job! I notice you've been in LD for a while now with a varied profile of games, so just keep doing what you're doing!
Nice game, but I didn't see any connection with the 1986 Sonic Youth album, which was a big disappointment.
The twist is that the real monster in this game is RPG Maker.
Core game mechanics look like they're pretty balanced. Maybe adding art or detail to the cards may make this more distinct and unique as a game. Not all the card names lined up well with their actual effects.
I like games that function on their own internalized rules. Similar to Papers Please, learning the rules and applying them the game is good fun and a central component of the game. This one's short and sweet, and functions on a good idea. A lot of humor comes out of the absurdity of the interactions.
Where it falls slightly short is in the repetition of the gameplay and the lack of animation, and the soundtrack is a little too short to be looped ad nauseam.
Otherwise I think it's a neat idea, and a fun game. Impressed that it's a 48hr submission.
An accurate representation of the plight of same-sex oriented persons in finding acceptance in wider society.

Solid stealth mechanics. Best feature is dragging the corpses of the slain to avoid detection. Would recommend.
Interesting because I've seen another very similar take on the theme this jam. This one has more emphasis on the different wild and wacky combinations of users; there's not much else to do. Maybe focusing on what monster dating profiles could be like is an idea of untapped potential?
Grand Theft Auto: USPS
I love the innovative idea of using the cylinder as the field of play in the game to create an ouroboros; brings the concept of Snake to a new light. Graphically, there could be some improvement, especially with the snake's head. I didn't note any increased difficulty and the health bar was too substantial to bring about challenge to the game, but nonetheless this works as a good idea in practice. Good job!
Tyrannosaurus got #rext. Loved it.
Pretty rough, but interesting.
Thanks for the advice, guys! And @victorfisac, I've fixed the download links.
Interesting use of the theme, but difficult controls.
Another LÖVE game! Lots of fun, enjoyed the mechanic a lot :)
