LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Dino Bros by josefnpat 2015-04-22T20:06:00

I love dinosaurs, I love bread, and I love this game.

The narration and the animation make this game particularly lively. The dying toasts' animations are priceless (needless to say the dino is cute too).

However you pushed the difficulty too far. When the screen is filled with toasts and you see there are 40 remaining, you can have no other reaction than "OH SHIIII...".

But it left me with a nice feeling. And I forgot to mention the background music is cool, too.

Bubble Trubble by Jon Reid 2015-04-21T20:06:00

My sister and I just finished the game ! For a long time we didn't know we could just circle ourselves to float up. Once you know about it the game is less challenging however.

The sounds got us laughing (especially when you beat a level) and the background music fits in nicely.
It was a good experience playing this, and it is very inspiring too.

Underload by Taldius 2015-04-24T17:39:00

Excellent characters and fun gameplay. The badass title screen always makes me wanna play again.
Plus I'll never get enough of those voices.

French accent ? ;)

Once you throw the canon, the game is basically lost though. And to me it needs greater reach.

Suri and Jeferex by muromets 2015-05-05T11:25:00

I am impressed by the animation's quality, the audio, and overall coolness.
Definitely adding "GrowMonster toy" to my birthday wishlist !

You could improve the jump's physics and add extra SFX. But one badass feature would be to customize Jeferex. He's so cute.

Quiver of Claws by Bensonance 2015-04-21T19:36:00

Clearly one of the best I've played so far. I don't think I need to explain how much the gameplay and content are well done.
The slow-mo effect and the hero's badassness are particularly striking.

Too bad one can fall forever by going left at the very first level though.
That said, the gameplay is very smooth and enjoyable, and I don't get how this is not flooded by positive comments already. Good luck !

Truly magical cat by Yozz 2015-04-21T20:49:00

The overall mood is very unique, the characters, the environment and the music fit perfectly together. This is the strength of this game.

Too bad it doesn't require a lot of activity from the player. But I guess this is the price for such a poetic game.

Teburu Furippu Do by zwartraider 2015-04-22T20:56:00

I really enjoyed how the game immediately threw me into the action with no time to think. It felt dynamic and the music adds well to it.

I need to practice more to master the ancient art of flipping tables. My family is dishonored by my shameful performance.

Puppet Guardian by sebasRez 2015-05-08T08:58:00

Wow, the fast-paced action got me excited. I love that feeling of quickness and power, and also the puppet's voice is lovely.
The ending suggests there would be a sequel. If you plan to work on this game again, then I wish you best of luck with it.

Also, even if the game does not emphasize it, I liked the BG art. Very good entry.

The Follower by Stending 2015-05-08T10:43:00

There's not so much of a gameplay, but I enjoyed the storytelling, the art style, the walk animation, and the music.

While it does not focus much on the theme, it was an inspiring experience. Good luck with your next projects.

Hitchhiker's Tales by Tangible Games 2015-04-23T11:37:00

A very hardcore, but also very well done game.
Overall it feels polished, and it was fun to kill those pesky aliens by throwing just about anything under hand at them. Can't get beyond "38 aliens remaining" though.

I'd suggest the following : Throwing aliens themselves should kill them in one hit just like with other objects. And even with that it would still be unbeatable methinks.

Good luck with this entry.

Stick Quest by louis.denizet 2015-04-23T12:15:00

I swear I nearly cried from the characters's voice extreme cuteness ! Just like asdfjkgljhf

I... I'm out of words. Too many feels to handle. This is a masterpiece.

Weapon Regulator by drludos 2015-04-20T15:59:00

Those things are SOOO cute ! Also the idea is great. I'm definitely diggin' it.

You Can Shave the Baby by chikun Dev Team 2015-05-08T08:34:00

Neat ! I'm digging the music and the minigames.
It's refreshing and WTF-esque. Loved it.

The Pew by Ret44 2015-04-21T20:31:00

I've had a hard time figuring out whether my microphone worked or not, but I managed to shoot some guys anyway.

I loved the Quake-style GUI and the overall smoothness.

Ultimate Booter by Druid 2015-05-08T09:59:00

Dat TV screen effect. The floppy disk mechanics is a cool idea.

One thing that I didn't like was that the character itself felt too much like Mega-Man. I think (personally) you should have made a character that feels 100% yours. Of course I'm taking into account that this was the desired effect.

I'm not gonna nitpick any further because the graphics are great, the game is polished, challenging, the controls feel right and there are a lot of floppy disks to try out !

Octopus of Unfathomable Chaos by conno1234 2015-04-23T11:20:00

It was fun and well done. Good job on the enemies' AI and the gameplay mechanics.
No matter what you say about it, I found the drawing at the end to be lovely, not mentioning the octopus' cuteness.

Plus I liked how big the level is. It gave me that "Open world" feeling.

France is Bacon by KirbiKaka 2015-04-21T19:11:00

I really dig the style, the main character and those french dinos. The only thing missing is, I think, more challenging gameplay mechanics.
Nonetheless, it is very cute and I loved it.

Discord Seeder by ztiromoritz 2015-04-27T20:49:00

For some reason the background music made me feel nostalgic.

The mechanic is interesting and the SFX fit in very well. Good thing you've put a video playthrough, because at first I was drawing a link because the centers of the targets. :)

> punch -s by Demy 2015-05-11T10:57:00

The graphics are a blast. Loved the idea, the robots' design and the little comic to introduce the story.

The gameplay is unexpectedly hard to handle, even with autocompletion by pressing TAB.
Also I noticed that once a "punch -H" connects, you can just keep spamming it because the opponent hasn't the time to recover. TBH I won all the fights this way.

One suggestion : You should allow a "punch" command without arguments, because reaching the '-' and one of the letters on the keyboard is very time-consuming, combat-wise.

I played the post-jam one, and I can't get over the robot's cuteness.

Not My Panties! by Karai17 2015-05-04T11:16:00

Tried it today, it was pretty nice !
I think there's a bug though : When hitting a pervert with the stylus, he gets propelled to his right and gets past the wall, before reappearing, standing normally, in front of me. Seemingly this didn't happen to anybody here.

Oh and I'd hug that final boss too.

x100x by x100x 2015-04-22T11:30:00

Hi there, if your game is an .exe file you should put it as a "Windows" link instead of a "Web" link.
Since I'm at work it made me think I could play right away.
However be sure I'll give it a try once I get home. :)

Colour Code by SnedHlepPls 2015-04-22T11:54:00

The key strength of your game is the idea behind. I found it very original and it has a great potential. If you're willing to continue working on this game then by all means do it, because the mechanics are very interesting.

The two things that, I think, darken the board :
-> Controlling the gun is very hard with those keys. Allowing aiming with the mouse would definitely be handier.
-> Either the level is too long, or the character isn't moving fast enough. Walking through that very long corridor each time you die feels like some kind of Shaolin training for patience. ^^

But this is a great work, considering you had no prior experience with Unity and C# (If I understood correctly).

I wish you best of luck with your entry !

Mighty Gravity by hmightypirate 2015-04-22T12:06:00

At first I didn't know whether my arrow keys had any effects on the planet or not. Yes, this game really needs that graphical effect of the earth rotating !

But I liked the originality of the gameplay mechanics, and above all it works flawlessly !
Somehow I have the feeling this game is complete, even if there is a lot of real-time feedback missing.

I don't get how this ended up in "least ratings" category. You did a great job.

Tipping Point by lonestar 2015-04-22T18:02:00

The art is SICK ! I was stunned by all the colours and the level of detail just about everywhere in the game. The music adds in a welcomed strange feeling. But if I could rate the art 10 stars out of 5 then I'd definitely do it.

More than gameplay, the narration is great. It was stunning to discover the Wizard as I climbed the ladder.

Again, this is above awesome. Too bad there isn't a proper ending. I'm looking forward to the polished version.

Dezinformatsiya by Scripturus 2015-05-04T11:40:00

I was a little scared of the graphics at first, but then it got funny !

A lot of attention has been put in the textual content and I found the mechanics to be really balanced. Of course there exists an optimal strategy, but hey. I really liked it.

Hat Attack by funisfun8 2015-04-21T09:23:00

I really like it. It's consistent, fun, and the title is very catchy. Good job on the robots (especially the damn fast ones).
I wish the background music wasn't so low in volume though. I wanna hear it!
Also I find the game to be quite hard.

... I think that third room is still laughing at me.

Secret Weapons Factory! by spin-down 2015-05-08T10:21:00

I'm taken back to the time of the Atari Flashback. I loved the weapon suggestions and the gameplay requires some management skills while being right into the action.

I would lower the alien's resistance or reduce the cost of guards, because the feeling of firing everywhere like crazy and not killing anyone is a bit frustrating.

Otherwise it was very enjoyable. Well played.

Braids by luizgama 2015-04-21T20:21:00

It was short, but the sound of hitting the guys in the face was priceless.

Please note, however, that the '4' key appears to be a key-binding on Firefox for "Quicksearch", and it prevented me from using the hair dryer.

Otherwise it was simple and fun !

Braids by luizgama 2015-04-22T11:08:00

@Luizgama
"Do you guys have any thoughts on which should be the controls? We couldnt come up with a better solution then 1 2 3 4 for the quickslots (perhaps enabling mouse clicks too would be nice)"

How about Q, W, E and R ? :)
+ I don't think enabling mouse for it would be practical, unless you add big buttons to the GUI which would be visually quite inconvenient.
Or perhaps, the mouse could be used to move the character. It would feel smooth methinks.

Just my two cents. And thanks for your review on my game ! ^^

Gravity Gram by Zeriver 2015-05-08T09:20:00

Original mechanics, but very unforgiving IMO. Overall the game feels right, I love the physics, and the character is not frustrating to control (very important for that kind of platformer).
Even if they are not part of the gameplay, the menu animations are cool too.

Of course it could use some audio and graphics for it to feel more lively, but the mechanics are definitely there. Good job !

Myopia by generic_ghost 2015-04-20T15:49:00

Nice one, gotta love the quality of the animation.
For the first few seconds I thought the game was unbeatable by just always spinning around, but it quickly proved me wrong. :) Amazing work.

Soul Breaker by DeadFragment 2015-05-05T11:02:00

I could say it was _heartbreaking_ to have to kill these cute black furballs. *ba-dum-tshh*
Loved the SFX and gameplay mechanics. The BG music is cool too.
You both did a great job.

ScarKrow by Carduus 2015-04-21T18:58:00

The graphics are really cool and the animation is flawless. The character design as well as the color palette are very eye-catching.
The gameplay mechanics are also quite easy to master. Great job.

SwordCrafter by Rose 2015-04-27T20:31:00

Your character always dares to question the absolute mastery of my craft. >:

Good job on making this, and also cool Bézier curves ! I feel some rewards would be welcome though. Like I dunno, trophies, new handles, confettis or something ?

... Or perhaps in a possible sequel, use it to slash nasty villains ? ;)
It is definitely a cool mini-game anyway.

Cornflake Ninja by badlydrawnrod 2015-04-22T10:58:00

"Avoid CRAPI suits" This made my day !

I enjoyed the sounds and the smoothness of the gameplay (after a few retries, got a score of 200, woohoo !).
I justed wish the hero had one more life, or there was some "1-up" item, because I die too often x)
On the other hand, that greatly contributes to the overall fun.

Have my 5 stars on Humor and Theme.
