Hahaha, fun little entry. I liked all the new stuff in the upgrade (post-compo) but the compo version is fun enough to call it a nice entry overall.

Hahaha, fun little entry. I liked all the new stuff in the upgrade (post-compo) but the compo version is fun enough to call it a nice entry overall.
I EFFIN' LOVED THE GAME! :) Amazingly well done. Lovely graphics, neat humor, cool atmospheric music/sounds. I played it from start to end despite the fact I suck at platformers (really, I died once for each kitty in the temple).
Your take on the theme is genius! (although I didn't actually notice until I read it on the description, perhaps some text like "+1 Fire resistance" should popup when you die, explaining the kind of upgrade you received). I had to try almost every damn version to make the game work to me (web, .jar, .exe) and the result was always the same (second level starts with no character). I tried running the game a few times until I got a playable second level, and from that point onwards everything went smoothly. Fun game. I quite enjoyed it (although I suck at platformers).
I must say the game exasperated me a little bit. The particle/thing itself had movement of its own (and/or heavy inertia) and drove me insane because I wasn't able to explore freely. I think the comic/video help to enrich the experience, but with no directions and slow/clumsy control of the navigation in-game, my desires of exploring the game universe quickly vanished. In the end, I didn't progress much into the game due to frustration. The game however succeeds in establishing an atmosphere (and the BG shader is one of the prettiest things I've seen around this LD). Also, there's an outstanding amount of work in both the video and the comic, so I take my hat off to your team!
I love this kind of stuff. What you did here is quite cool. I mean, it's not just cells replicating, but it's pretty much the evolution of a village (of sorts). It certainly lacks an objective and other "gamey" elements, but it's a nice simulation. Good work :)
Cool game. Loved the concept and gameplay. It's quite fun.
Great game, the devolve feature is very interesting
Cool game dude. It's a solid entry. Loved the concept, and you really get quite a ride (between joy and despair) despite its simplicity.
Not responding, Windows 7 32 bits
Hard but fun game! The link with evolution seems a bit weak though (but it's there nonetheless, which is more than what quite a number of entries can say). It's a good idea overall. Kudos!
Very interesting idea. I would love to see some rankings
Nice game. Transformation was a bit slow, and the controls need a bit of work (particularly underwater). Checkpoints would've been greatly appreciated.
Also, I think gameover messaged shouldn't try to be "funny/witty" because they look like they are mocking the player. Constructive advice is always appreciated like "big fish are dangerous, avoid them. Small ones however, can give you a health boost" (I know it's not like that in the game, it's an example) instead of "Really? did you REALLY tried to kiss that fish or something? I mean, Eww dude, what's wrong with you!?"
I got really far in the water section but failed to reach the end of it before giving up. It's a nice entry though. Thumbs up!
Server down...
Le serveur n'a pas pu renvoyer la page
Loved it. Cool graphics and atmosphere. Interesting take on the theme. :)
Nice graphics
Couldn't find any other players, and fighting solo is not as interesting as joining other players seems. I get from the game description how evolution plays a role in the game, but it requires more players. My piece of advice: It's ok to design a game experience that requires other players, but you should always give something fun to do to players who are playing alone. Anyway, making a multiplayer game is a daunting task so my hat's off to you. Kudos!
Very original. I always miss the green apples :S
Loved it! :) It's one of the few games I've played to the end. In fact, I played it more than once, to get a different ending (didn't discover the saving system the first time I played :/)
Hi everyone! thanks for the comments. I don't want to spoil the game giving away the solution, because this is "mainly" a puzzle game. But what i can tell you is that the game only has one level, and the main objective is to find the way out. As a hint, you need to find the three ghosts...
Maybe we will prepare a walkthrough and post it :)
Oh, DAT bug. We ran into it once. Were unable to replicate it. Well, we will try to get that sorted out in a post-jam version. Thanks everyone for your feedback. Glad you enjoy the game.
Did you know that you can talk to the developers? Their names are in the credits room...
Also, there are some very interesting commands, like pay, swag and never :3
Thanks for all your feedback :), Also, thanks for the awesome comments that actually made a dude give our game a second chance ;)
Datw btw, we are from Chile.
acid trip FTW!
Very interesting idea... i couldn't pass the purple box level, though
Cool music and amazing graphics. Quite polished game. I failed to see a connection with the theme though.
Stars for humor
Amazing, simply amazing. Fun!
I gave up in the 49th Generation (as I thought, playing a game which requires planning and geometry thinking at 5:30 AM isn't exactly a good idea). Reached level 5 or 6. I think. Going over the same levels over and over again was a little bit tedious though. Solid entry overall!
Sadly couldn't play the game :( (Windows) Music was playing but only the launch console was there.
with a little more polish, it could be a very addictive game
it was... something
It's nice to see a graphic interactive adventure here. The concept was interesting as well and the mood was quite well accomplished. A Solid entry indeed.
As other users have said, it's a bit repetitive and the connection with the theme is rather vague. Anyway, doing a solid 3D game like this in ~72hrs is quite an accomplishment on its own. Kudos!
Interesting game. It's fun although it's frustrating to start from the beginning specially hitting something is insta-death (also, the class room is quite a tricky start point). Perhaps there could be either checkpoints or lives (so if you hit a wall, you have the chance to keep going but you lose a life). Overall quite a good entry. :)
Missed a part to check my "stats" and movement is a little hard (and/or enemies too fast) but it's a cool game. Loved the concept. Genius game
Very nice, reminds me of evo
Top-notch game. I had a little problem with it though. Died first without reaching a checkpoint and was left in the void. Restarted the game and survived to the first checkpoint, then everything went smoothly. Love the mood, the music (although minimalist it works) and the graphics. Platforms has always been difficult for me, so I didn't make it too far into the game, but I loved what I played.
Nice entry. Had problems running it on the website. offline worked better for me (although with slight screen flickering). At first it was kinda confusing (the evolution of the stage) but then it became something really neat. Space bar FTW :)
Very nice, it's like a mix of snake and pacman
Why can't he make any friends? poor guy
anwy good game!
Very nice gameplay.
Well done, the best way to learn is to do!
Cool game! one of the best entries I've played so far. A version with more interactive objects would be awesome (closing/opening windows/doors, blowing curtains with wind, turning lights on/off, etc). Absence of music/fx is certainly a pity but we all understand that is a side effect (as in a lot of other entries) of LD's time constraint. Kudos on an amazing entry!
Congratulations on your first entry!. Solid, simple yet extremely fun! It has a few bugs, yes, but it's one of the most clever games I've seen so far. Kudos!
I liked the whole reverse-identity-theft going on there. Who is the real enemy there?
Well, It was beyond my skill level to beat the boss (although I almost killed him!) but I had fun trying. Is a bit of a short-lived adventure though.
Cool entry; simple but polished. I like your style. Kudos!
so, the hero is a farmer? tell me more
Really nice animations and art!, the controls are a bit hard to get used to though.
Good work. Needs more IA for enemies
Nice idea for a game, maybe just like managing a store would be nice
Nice. Fun and full of humor. Controls and collisions are a bit... awkward, though.
My advice for controls: If you are going to keep both of our hands in the keyboard at the same time (i.e: using the right hand for movement and the left hand for jump and attack) don't make us also click on the screens with the mouse! That breaks the "posture". Use a key for that (like JUMP or ATTACK). Also a more natural mapping for the right hand actions would work better (preferably adjacent keys sitting on the same row).
For being your first game however is actually pretty impressive. Congratz!
Well, the killer has a tendency to follow his victims until he can commit the crime. If you happen to spot the dude while he is purposefully stalking his victim you can theoretically catch him before he takes down his target.
Frustrating but fun!. Controls are a bit hard to master but it's a very innovative entry. Congratz.
Could only make it to level 3 but it's a fun little game! Difficulty is a bit too unforgiving though.
A good idea, maybe if the movement were discrete, so you move in rhythm
If this is your fisrt game, i see a very bright future ahead of you
I first had no clue what I was supposed to do. I had to re-read the description (and pay attention to your EDIT note) to know exactly "how" to identify the door keeper. Then I retried your game and let me tell you, It's a fairly well-done FPS despite the fact it was done in 48hrs, so Kudos!
Sure, it's lacking music and SFX and a little bit of AI for your "targets" but it was nice to play the "classic" villain of a medieval/fantastic setting.
Sorry, my mistake. It DOES have nice music and all. It just that my speakers were not working. I later discovered that and rated properly that section :)
Hahaha, hilarious! Having a PSY-lookalike as a bride-stealing villain totally made my day. Cool entry.
it needs polishing, but it's a good idea
Nice entry!
It was a bit confusing though, and the mix between mouse controls (UI) and keyboard is not exactly optimal.
A piece of advice: When your game requires both hands to be on the keyboard (e.g: using directional keys to move and F/C as fire and camera buttons) you can't expect the player to also use the mouse. We only have two hands and switching the right hand between keyboard and mouse is not efficient for a game.
That's why FPS games corner all the keyboard controls in the left side of the keyboard, so you only need the left hand on the keyboard, leaving the right hand free for mouse action. Yes, it doesn't account for left-handed people but it shows how to properly implement keyboard+mouse controls (keyboard can be used with just one hand while the other is in the mouse). You can solve the left-handed issue by mapping the keyboard actions to keys on the right-side of the keyboard as well.
Graphics are fairly decent (some are great) and music is certainly quite "villanous".
Well, congratulations on your first jam game. It's -despite its minor flaws- a nice and challenging game! :)
Fun game! it's a bit slow at first but then it catches some fairly good speed. Music was nice but a bit unrelated to what's happening on screen. It's a good entry though, I liked it!
Beautiful pixel art. Couldn't figure out what to do though
Very nice and polished game, graphics look very good too.
Brilliant! It was a bit annoying to retry a scene (watching the ending and the scene intro every time without a skip or something) but I truly loved the idea and the execution. One of the best entries I've played so far. Kudos!
Such a tiny lovely adventure, haha. I quite enjoyed it despite its brevity. Loved the graphics and the retro sound fx. Jumps felt a little odd (almost no gravity) but you get used to it.
I would love to see this game extended!
Hahaha, well. It's interesting to find a game with the same underlying concept than ours. It was fun and I really liked the level of polish. Pure quality. One of the most visually-appealing entries I've played so far.
please fix the web version (or add a non-installer pc version)
That was fun. Creative game. Something must be done though for when you run out of "powers". Perhaps time could count down like in the original game so you can make Mario lose due time-over (if you survive long enough).
good game
You sir just made the most humorous game I've played so far. Now I totally know how goombas do feel... and I do pity them : (
Elegant and simple. It's quite confusing at first but then it gets dangerously addictive. And 3 hours? wow, gratz!
Easy but fun! You got me smiling the whole game. Perhaps having cities return to "peace" if left alone for enough time would add a bit more of challenge. Variety of enemies or actions to carry (besides spreading chaos) may make a nice update. Gratz on a fun little entry!
Pretty fun! although playing again seems a bit broken (especially once you have the deadly moon ray). You seem to start with the resources and things you had your previous run.
Excellent! Loved your interpretation of the theme. Also the game is super fun.
I loved it! great job
Good art, good music, good concept. Loved it!
Take that socialism! hahahaha very funny
Challenging, and the mood was nice.
Very fun
Very original, short and sweet
Hahaha, cool game! Was totally fun. Reporters are a real PITA though. They can totally suck your reputation in a matter of seconds and if you are in jail you have no way to dodge them :/ Anyway, despite the flaws in a solid entry. Kudos!
Really great graphics and animations, the explosion was the best! The game seems pretty solid but the strong part on this game is the graphics, very pretty.
Mood-filled, fun and challenging adventure. I think I can totally identify game-style references to both Mark of the Ninja and Walking Dead: The Game (which is not a bad thing). Music and sfx would certainly enhance the experience but I was undoubtedly blown-away by the style and polish of this entry. Good job.
It is certainly an interesting take. I wasn't expecting the switch. That was awesome. Kudos!
Ha! 50040 pts and first place! Amazing game
Needs more work. Keep up!
Loved the hand drawn graphics. It will probably need a little more tweaking on the controls and collisions, but overall a good game
Loved the idea. Perhaps the whole "click -> menu -> select option-> modify action vector" could be simplified and made clearer with some visual confirmation (that the action was selected for instance). The game crashed on me when I was playing. It was fun while it lasted though. A lovely entry indeed. Had fun playing it. Kudos!
Btw, loved the art and the music as well!
I like it! It's simple, challenging, fun. Perhaps some auditive feedback when you press something wrong would be good. Alternating between mouse and keyboard is a bit of a flow-breaker but I guess it adds to the challenge. Totally enjoyed it though!
Problems? not at all. I managed to beat the game with ease (only failed a couple of times) so it's not like the issue broke the game for me.
But when a game requires you to use both hands on the keyboard and then asks you to click on something on screen it certainly breaks the experience a bit. It takes you out of the immersion as it forces you to take one hand out of the keyboard to reach the mouse, locate the cursor on screen and perform the required action and then back to the keyboard.
That's a mistake I've seen an AWFUL lot in LD entries over the years.
If a game mixes keyboard and mouse input it should be done in such a way that both devices can be comfortably operated with one hand each.
Since your game requires the player to do some fast typing it hardly can be played with just one hand on the keyboard. You would be "wasting" the other hand on the mouse waiting for the occasional mouse input.
Having said that... in your game at least it helps to increase the tension. It doesn't feel broken but you should be careful when designing the control scheme for your games so it doesn't require to swap devices or reach for other things in the middle of the game ;)
This appeals to the inner catapult-loving child we all have. The game has a few issues and whatnot but it was definitely fun. Congrats!
very very noce! 5 stars for mood!
The idea as a puzzle game is great. The theme seems a little bit forced
Loved the humor. It was a truly WTF-experience. The connection to the theme is a tad loose (yes, I read the description) but the game is definitely a solid entry. Good job!
Nice game! Wish I could fast-forward conversations though. At least the ones you already heard.
At first I wasn't completely sure of what to do so I kept getting the same long sequence over and over again.
The story is certainly touching and immersive. Well done.
Solid entry. It's a bit too hard but I enjoyed it. Perhaps the game could be simplified a bit so it's not that confusing to play. I had a blast playing it though!
Nice game... for ld24
Interesting gameplay
Simple yet fun game!. And it's quite well done as well. Congrats!
Good game. It's a bit too hard though. Even the first level is too much for me. As someone said before, camera doesn't exactly help when it moves to suddenly. You loose yourself for a second and then you are dead. It's a good entry overall though!
Thanks for your feedback!
Be sure to use the character's time-bending powers (by pressing CTRL) for more awesomeness.
Physics were a bit glitchy but it was actually quite fun. Cool Graphics! And loved the humor. Well done!
Really good game. Perhaps a "second chance" in some tasks would help a lot, but it's a REALLY awesome game. I'm speechless. Rock solid entry!
Cool-looking graphics. The Compo version is pretty buggy and your only choice is whether you stay there and accept immediate death or you run in circles around the map and accept your death later.
The Post Compo version is pretty much the same (but now I can jump) but rewards me with a "You win" if I go with the second plan and survive a few secs.
The idea looks good though and as I said before the graphics are actually quite good. I'd love to see this game finished and polished!
Time is indeed relative
I liked the idea of a rpg mixed with a board game.
Fun, amazing graphics and music! It *may* be a bit too difficult. Despite the explanation given in the comments(that each game section lasts 10 seconds) I feel the theme is not too strong with this one.
The game is quite well crafted though. The level of polish this game has is breathtaking. Top entry!
I got really hooked with this game, but the progression it too slow.
Good job! loved the mood and it was quite fun!
Amazing game. Loved it! It felt a bit laggy at times and I missed some score system but it's impressive what you managed to do in only 72 hours.
Congrats on the random level generator algorithm, very very nice
I think the ball moves way too fast (but I guess that makes it a challenge). It's a nice entry for being done in only 2 hours with limited tools.
AWESOME! One of the best game I've played so far. Wonderful music, sounds, graphics and mechanics. Everything is perfect.
It was really difficult to read the texts and/or interact with things. It's still however a nice RPG-like puzzle experience. For the little time LD gives there's some seriously nice 3D animation and modelling work here. Kudos!
I think it starts too slow (takes a lot of deaths and retries to upgrade yourself to the point where you can get past the first obstacle). The fact you mixed the theme with this genre (incrementally upgrade your character to go further and further into the game) is actually genius though.
The web version runs too fast on my computer though. It's completely unplayable. The game looks great and polished but
I immediately recognize the music and sfx from Link's Awakening (MAN I love that game) so SADLY that means I can't give you a score for music/audio.
Loved the graphics and the game though!! I also loved the subtle way in which the theme is used.
It definitely needs a pause after the timer expires but it's a fun game. Probably the one with the most replay value I've played so far.
My record was 18, btw!
Mood was definitely strong with this one. I was totally into the game. A bit creepy though but I enjoyed it although it took me a while to figure out what was all about.
Good Job!
Nice sounds. Loved the humor. The gameplay is a bit confusing but after watching the video I quickly got the hang of it. It's fun, just needs a tutorial level or something. Good work.
Could you please add some instructions on how to play? I want to play and rate this game but I honestly have no clue on what I'm supposed to be doing with the tools.
Oh I see. Thanks Fervir.
Well, the game is a bit challenging but definitely fun. Loved the "voice acting" and the music as well.
Nice take on the theme!
Fun game! The main menu could be controlled with the keyboard as well, otherwise the flow (from the menu to the game... and then back to the menu) breaks in the transition.
Regarding the exe file it's definitely not normal for a game so short to be that "big". I can totally see the file size being a deal-breaker for some potential players so here's my advice; Ensure you are not compiling your project with "include debug information" (A "build for release" option/profile should be available in most dev environments) and also see if your IDE/toolchain offers the option to "strip" unneded/unused symbols when compiling. That usually removes any portion of code that your game is not ACTUALLY using (sometimes your game gets compiled together with the FULL runtime and libraries you are using even when you call a function or two from them).
It's quite a clever game! I think it would be nice to have more things that only the old man could do but it's not like 48hrs are that much.
It's a good game for being your first "Let 'em Dare" ;)
Gorgeous. Loved it! Enemies are a bit too hard to defeat (I wouldn't normally complain but there's a time limit, so it's not like I can just spend all day to shoot one enemy down) and took me a life (in-game) to figure out how to jump, but it's a REALLY AWESOME game. Extremely polished! Simple idea but insanely well executed. :)
Simple but fun idea
Unique take on the theme but a bit too loose for my taste. Graphics are a bit too psychedelic but not unpleasant. In fact they work rather nicely to create a sub-atomic atmosphere. The game got me on my toes the whole time so it was quite an exciting experience.
Good work!
BTW Is this your first LD? (I'm asking because this seems to be the only entry you've submitted by your own to LD). If so then congratz! it's quite an enjoyable game!
AMAZING use of the theme. Definitely the most innovative entry I've seen so far. It's really incredible.
Perhaps you could add a "speed-up" feature. A button or something to see "the story so far" in a shorter span of time.
Or perhaps a "summary" made of a subset of the events discretely sampled. As the list of events (players) grow, you can "skip" certain segments and make a transition between the remaining sections with fade-to/from-black as if it were the "previously on..." of a series.
Interesting and fun game! The first time I tried the game I quit because I wasn't sure how to make the damn game move to the next turn. It was frustrating. I was about to give up on it but then I saw the comments and well, they made it look like it was a really good game (once you know how to play it) so I noticed there was this "how to play" inside the file so I read it.
Then I gave it a second chance and I can totally say this is actually fun and innovative. I quite like it! Congrats :)
Simple yet fun! Missed a score screen though!
I pressed New Game and it stopped working. (Running on Windows 7 64 bits - Graphics card NVidia GeForce 430)
If this is your first game... CONGRATULATIONS! good work
good game
Nice level design. Some "powerups" where infuriating.... in a fun way!
That was fun.. although confusing. I failed to see the theme in the game but it's actually a fun and addictive little gem.
Nice innovation with the control. The difficulty increase between level 3 and 4 is too damn high! :P
liked the graphics
Loved the cat names and the upgrade system. Perhaps a radar of sorts would be useful to have in game (to know when/where cats-in-distress appear).
Nice controls and graphics
Good work. It needs more polish, it's quite easy if you mash button
That was quite amazing. I'm not fan of dress ups or life-management-kinda games, but this was quite enjoyable.
Sweet game! It's like a mini stealth game. Loved it.
Nice entry, i couldn't attack the zombies though
That was nice. Loved the graphics and the pace. I would suggest friendlier controls though.
Very atmospheric nice concept
Nice take on the theme. It was hard to keep track of everything without a clock. Good Job!
Man I love programming/puzzle games!. The theme is a bit weak on this game though... the shortest (and most likely intended) solution in every level is always rather obvious, so the timer lacks relevance for the most of it.
I enjoyed the game a lot though. Some seriously good level design here!
This is awesome! Excellent interpretation of the theme, and very straightforward. I love it!
Quite the interesting game! There are some "bugs" like water disappearing sometimes in the second dimension and some annoying things like the speed of the dialog bubbles (kinda slow), but in general is a pretty good entry! Some levels are really hard and challenging! Kudos
Great graphics and music! Definitely missed some pew-pew SFX here and there :D!
It was a bit tedious to "keep track" of where each portal led to, so "discovering" unexplored worlds was a bit frustrating. Perhaps portals could be color-coded (one color per world) or those that lead to a yet-to-be-explored world could be different somehow from those already "visited".
Overall it's a fun and easy to play game with an awesome graphics style and good music! Kudos!
You totally nailed the "Lost Vikings" feel!
There are issues with collisions and platforms and the game crashed on me when I selected the middle-bottom level, though.
Level design is pretty solid and it could certainly benefit from a progression of sorts (where you are required to solve the levels that feature a single character first, then those with 2, and finally the one with the 3 of them).
Despite the issues, it's a really fun game! Kudos!
Good graphics and sound, but I think you definitely need to adjust the difficulty. (I'm not a game-design expert but I'm trying to help here with what I know):
Enemies are too fast and don't give you much of a chance to kill them. In most shoot 'em ups you'll notice that the enemies react and move slower than the player and they tend to "walk/fly" a lot in front of you so you have a fair chance of taking them down.
In this kind of game enemies don't move in random patterns either. They move and attack in patterns the player can "learn and counter" (and sometimes "predict").
Having a single life and "restarting" from the very first level is a bit too punishing. Not many games can get away with something like this without being called unfair.
I'm not saying your game has to be easy or that you have to adhere to the "industry standards" but those "best practices" are there for a reason. It's not because one dude made the first shooter like that and the other games just cloned the mechanics and design decisions. You can "bend" the rules to make your game "harder" but there's a limit to how much you can "bend" them before the game breaks and becomes downright unfair and frustrating, so be careful with that.
I quite enjoyed the humor in your game and the references to different cult movies and series. I also liked the graphics and the "retro-yet-modern" feel. The parallax field of changing-color stars gives it a REALLY nice touch. For a jam game there's an impressive amount of good work here, from the graphics to the particles and sound effects and dialogue. Good Job.
Lovely little game. It has a few bugs here and there and it lacks animation and music. As other players have pointed out it's a tad too slow.
Having said that, for a 48h game you did an outstanding job! I haven't seen a game like this yet. Graphics are nice and the idea is original. I like the fact you took such a different approach to the theme!
Will Edwards, thanks for your comments (and playing the game!) there's a walk-through video made by the artist (ilovepixel) where you can see the solution to the levels if you are stuck! Once you discover how the connect/unconnect mechanics work you'll definitely have no problem even with the hardest levels!
@Victory Garden: We uploaded the post-jam version a few hours after the jam ended (once I was back home and able to finish the levels I was working on. I also added the intro screen and the levels ilovepixel made). We didn't really want to touch the post-jam version after that! (so it's more of a "what the game should have been" than anything). We will definitely add music, more levels, a better tutorial, and more! (in a future).
Thanks for playing!
@Moosefly: You are right! We will fix that ASAP! I"m sadly not the owner of the server where it was hosted but I'll let the dude know our link is down. Thanks for letting us know and thanks for playing the game!
Thanks!
We are working on a future post-ludumdare release. We really loved how the game turned out :)
Good graphics and sound. Loved that the collected links had a different effect but I was not really fond of giving up the current link effect to get a new -potentially less awesome- one (although there's equal chance of getting a better one).
It's a really solid and fun game!
FUN game! At first I had no idea what was going on, but then I quickly realized it was meant to be played with someone else! (sorry, didn't really read the description before playing).
I think the connection with the theme is a bit weak but it's such a polished and fun experience that it doesn't really impact the overall score. Awesome game, congrats!
I really enjoyed this game! I love the idea from start to end! great puzzles and the objects like bombs and mirrors added so much more to the gameplay. Great job!
Not easy to master but quite engaging once you get the gist of it. The alarm SFX was mildly annoying but I guess that's how emergency alerts are supposed to sound. Graphics and music could be improved of course but for a 48h game they are OK.
Quite a good game overall!
This needs more levels! This is like mega intergalactic pogo trampoline jump. Really fun idea! To bad there aren't enough levels but it's a great work for the compo.
Beautiful game! great graphics and music. The game feels pretty solid and it's fun! Dialogue keeps the action interesting despite the lack of variety in gameplay.
The only problem for me were the controls. I would have preferred keyboard over mouse, or at least more responsive mouse movement.
It's still one of my favorite games so far. You all did a great job!
PS: As other dev reported Chrome insists your game is a malicious file
This is a fun little game! I really liked the animations and the mechanic was pretty clear. I felt that the progression was a bit slow. I played it for 3 minutes and I could barely notice that the game got a bit hard.
It took me a while to understand what was happening and what the goal was. It was definitely easier when I noticed the small text at the top-left corner! The initial "sorting" that is done before the level begins took quite a while on some levels, to the point I thought it was stuck in an endless loop or something.
For a compo entry the planets look nice and the sounds are great! And for such a simple mechanic the game is surprisingly hard!
Overall a good game :)
Awesome game! Jumping from one world to the other feels really nice and natural. It becomes really hard real quick.
Graphics are awesome and the game feels really solid and polished. Music would make it perfect!
Really nice game! I felt a bit dizzy at some points but apart from that this is a game with a lot of potential. The voice acting was funny (in a good way). For some reason it remembered me of the movie Charlie and the chocolate factory.
Web version crashes my browser after the start screen and the PC version is deemed as malicious by Chrome :/
Wonderful game! While this is not the first "Galactic Battle For Territory and Supremacy" game I've played this LD, it is by far the most [immediately] enjoyable!
The simple approach to strategy (boiled down to 1 "resource", only 3 well-thought options for deploying units (that totally makes sense), and only 1 available action for exploration and terrain conquest) is easy to understand and simple enough to allow REAL decision making, which more complex games lack due to the large number of available actions and variables involved in any situation that calls for quick action. The fact that time slows down when you are performing any of the strategic actions helps a lot with this too.
Graphics are good, audio fits perfectly and also helps create a mood. It is a very solid, smart and simple game. LOVED IT! :)
Nice mood. There's some minor issues with "shooting" though: It's hard to hit the targets unless you are pretty much standing on the same pixel row.
I was unable to finish the game (as I was having a hard time hitting the enemies and dodging) but I kinda see where it was going. It's a good entry overall with some nice graphics, audio and music.
It's a really lovely game. LOVED the mood, graphics and the music. It was pretty emotional and cute at the same time.
I'm not quite a fan of the "simultaneous platforming" section, though. It was really frustrating to start from the beginning just 'cause one of the characters randomly decided to give up and fall to the void. Perhaps checkpoints or shorter "levels" could help there. I'm actually not even sure if it was needed at all since the story and the game world already "covered" the LD theme quite well.
This is the first game I've played this round that has some kind of character development and a story that is told from beginning to end, which is quite a feat for a game made over a weekend and something that I really enjoyed.
A great game, definitely one of my favorites so far!
Fun but REALLY hard! Graphics are awesome and loved the level of polish (particles, sfx, etc). Controls were a bit tricky for me because I'm used to WASD for movement but didn't tamper the experience.
Good job!
Fun game! Loved the graphics and audio(although background music took a lot before starting to play. I think I played the whole game and died near the last car, and then half way during my second attempt bgm started playing) It's a quite challenging game and the game "atmosphere" reminded me a bit of the GB adaptation of Alone in the Dark.
Overall a solid entry! Kudos!
Please make more levels! :D
I think there's something "addictive" in the tension you experience once you've reached the exit with one character and you switch to the other, because if you screw that up, it's game over for both of them!
It would be nice to see the gameplay expanded. perhaps you could add mid-level "landmarks" that appear on both worlds and need to be reached by both characters before the game allows them to move further (a switch that opens a barrier in both levels or something). That would be neat!
Despite being a short "demo" (as you call it) and "lacking" animated graphics it was really fun, please develop this further!
The game is fun and has quite decent music. Loved the tutorial crab!
It got a little bit repetitive after a while but the craziness of the skills kinda made up for it.
Humor and mood are definitely strong in this one!
Awesome game! Loved the graphics, the sound, the gameplay (although I had to the game like 10 times (having no idea of what to do, jumping to the void, closing the game, opening the game, repeat) and had to come back to the description to know what to do).
The game is really good and fun and the only thing that bugged me was having to restart the game after each death!
I can't believe this was done for the compo! One of the best entries I've played so far! Good job!
I like how you combined top-down with side-scrolling! Reminded me of one of my favorite games on GB: Gargoyle's Quest. There seems to be a bug with the jump though (I can't land back). Mastering the required double jump to go over the spikes is tricky but really rewarding!
It's a really nice entry and man, I can't believe you are just
9 yrs old! I was barely learning to use a computer at your age and here you are, making games already! Wow!
Amazing concept! Gameplay is as straightforward as it gets! It's quite a novel idea too.
The only problem with the game, IMHO, is that after a while it gets a bit repetitive, which is something that normally happens in all games if do if you don't introduce new elements or twists to the game mechanics along the way.It doesn't need to be a complex thing; you could increase the number of planets that need to be connected each couple of levels for instance.
Perhaps you can work on a post-compo version. The game has a lot of potential!
Simple but fun and addictive! LOVED the music! I think I could play this all day!
Beautiful game! Loved the connection between characters and the story! Quite amazing for a 48h compo game!!
Loved the art and the humor in the game. The intro was great!
It takes some time to get used to the jump/falling times but it's part of the learning curve I guess.
The game froze after dying in round 8 I believe, so I didn't beat it (Not sure I'll ever reach that far in the game again. It's hard!). Perhaps you could add some "health" to each player instead of insta-killing each other, so it's a bit less unforgiving.
This is a game I enjoyed from start to finish though! Great job!
Very pretty graphics. The idea was cool too. This could use a highscore board!
I really like the idea of using real life feed from a source to influence the game. I would have been interesting seeing the wheater actually affecting the game mechanic more than just affecting the graphics.
The game is a bit confusing but at the end I did get the idea and it was pretty good. To bad I only got 1 totem and I was playing for about 10 min.
I really enjoyed the visual effects, like the teletransportation shaking or how did the cold areas looked.
I hope to see this evolve into a more elaborated game, because it has the potential.
This is really difficult! I need to split my mind in two.
Nice concept. I really enjoyed the fact the you had to different games connected.
Love the art style and attention to detail. Although more of an interactive story than a game it was quite the experience!. The mood is perfectly achieved by the music, graphics and dialogue! Amazing job!
This was really difficult! I could only reach level 4. I really enjoyed the game though. Nice mood and puzzles were well designed.
Loved the graphics and the mood. I also liked how you used alert boxes to do the dialogs, haha.
I also loved the style and story! Sadly I couldn't figure out how to escape the endless loop of nightmares!
For a first-time LD your game is amazing. My first LD (as an individual, not as part of the ConflictiveLabs team) wasn't half as good!
I'm glad you are working on a post-jam version (that's the spirit!) I'd really love to play the finished game.
I enjoyed the alert boxes, though. Totally unexpected and smart, haha, but yes, you can't have them in a "finished" game, sadly.
About Bond, thanks! glad you liked it! :D We want to do a post-post-jam version with sound and music if we manage to find time for that. Our current post-jam version is basically the game with the levels it was intended to have, which is the least we could do since I couldn't make it in time to add the levels before the jam ended :/
The Katamari is strong in this one.
I can't really understand why I find this amusing. I think it could be the art + music + noodle.
Visually this game is stunning. Very pretty game and effects. Physics was very nice and didn't get in your way, it was well integrated. The only downside of it is that got repetitive very fast. It's too hard to die and you have no real challenge apart from dodging the asteroids/enemies. Maybe I missed something.
Interesting and novel concept! The turbo boost was a really well-thought feature. I didn't finish the game (as I failed to find all the pieces and my brain is a little too tired to think in any useful way of rearranging the ones I have) but it was definitely an enjoyable experience!
When a user previously told you that the theme was "connected Worlds" and not "Collided" he/she was probably NOT talking about the title of your game!. In the first screen of the game itself you write "Made for Ludum Dare 48, theme "Collided Worlds".
The use of the theme is quite obvious in your entry regardless of whether you thought it was "collided" or "connected". It works either way for a game like this.
Good Job!
Lovely graphics and cool gameplay! Quite enjoyable once you get the hang of it! (it took me a while to get it. I wasn't really clear on how to gather souls). It sets you in the mood right off the bat.
I couldn't beat it though. It's probably too hard for my noob shoot 'em up skills. Also firing was pretty much not working with my gamepad (PS3/PC-compatible Genius Maxfire Blaze 3. BIG Name. Average joystick) so I had to use keyboard.
It's a really good game though. I liked it a lot!
Awesome! loved it! It's really cool and fun! Graphics are a bit too simple but the overall experience is just so much fun! Congratulations on a solid entry!
There are a few collision-detection issues but I REALLY liked the game! At first the text between levels was confusing but then I realized I was switching between two characters whose worlds are connected and it was brilliant! Well done!
Quite amazing for a first LD!
It's hard to really tell/predict what opening a door does/will do. Some "cultures" seem to be more likely to travel than others and thus I didn't really feel like I was having any real strategic impact on the outcome.
The idea IS however, quite interesting and it's a truly outstanding "experiment" for a 48h game. It actually leaves you thinking about globalization and cultural exchange.
There's indeed a bug that puts the game into a "stale" state with one gray planet left that no one can get. The AI is probably doing pretty much the same I'm doing without much success as no transfer seems to be happening.
The idea is nice though. I love games with a simple mechanic that actually translates into challenging and fun gameplay. Congratz!
It was fun, loved the little details like the slow-appearing text, the icons, and using "clickable" labels in the text to interact with the story.
Awesome! Really sweet game! Loved it!
It's a really fun and simple game with an interesting mechanic. Loved it!
I had some problems in lv 7 with the red and green planets. As they are too close to each other the ship bounced from one to the other whenever I wanted to land on one of them, wasting fuel and usually leaving me on the wrong one. Took me a few attempts to get it right. I kinda missed a way to insta-retry the level (for when you make a mistake).
A solid entry though. Good job!
Wow this is really beautiful. Very well done and polished. It's amazing that this game was done in 72h. Definitely my favourite so far!
At first was a little bit frustrating beacause i didn't understand the controls, but when i learned how to play, i actually had a lot of fun playing it.
Thanks to everyone who played and thanks for your amazing feedback. We are working on a post jam version where we plan to improve the controls, timing and difficulty of the game.
sP0CkEr2, you have to use the arrow keys to "deflect" incoming "bits" following the rhythm of the song. As you have to match their color too you may need to rotate your "decryption core" with S and D.
The instructions are at the end of the intro scene and in the description here. We should have added them as a README inside the standalone builds and as text in the webpages I guess.
Hope that helps!
(also, thanks for your comments!)
Good music, interesting idea. I think the clic detection is buggy, also an effect of mouse over would help
Very funny and great game mechanic
Man this game is GREAT! My only complaint would be the lack of variety in the gameplay department but it definitely doesn't take much from the game overall. The music is great, the humor is top-notch, the voice acting is superb and the story is entertaing! GOOD JOB!
Interesting concept. I think it needs a little more feedback into whether you are doing something right or not, like sound effects. Or in a game with a simple concept like this one, one line of text could do the trick.
The concept was good but the implementation for me was boring, changing a simple turn based battle where you need to type the name of the enemy, doesn't add fun, it subtract it
Very funny and innovative concept. Maybe too hard to aim
Loved it
Great game. A 2d alan wake? Why not?!
Very polished game! also lots of fun if you have someone to play against! Very simple idea too! LOVE IT!
Did not undestand...... Was unable to move, enemies kept spawning, too hard kjnlsvvsdabvsdavjksdavasvla (punching keyboard in frustation)
Only win64? could you build an 32 version? or mac?
A pleasant surprise to see other rhythm games this ludumdare! And a good one at that! It's really fun and crazy in the best of ways. Kudos!
Interesting concept, maybe you should try and do a post compo version
I feel bad about poisoning animals :P but overall good game
Very good game, polished and good controls. Mayby a bit too easy, the fun starts after a few minutes, but overall very goos
Cool game, awesome work
If this is your first game, kudos! you are on your way to becoming a game developer. Some tips though:
1.- Limit the play area so you can't walk out of the map.
2.- If your game is objective based, try to put a guide, like an arrow to remind the player where to go.
3.- Don't rely too much on text based instructions, most players don't read.
Very hard, which is good, but more on the side of the frustrating rather than the challenging side, which would be better.
Lovely entry. It was a bit frustrating at times but still fun as hell! Also really polished! Loved it!
What does the -1 upgrade means? also, difference in the enemies add a lot to TD games
One of my favorites so far. Love the atmosphere and the game mechanic. Would have loved some kind of checkpoint
Good, but a little too repetitive. Also the gameplay it's not intuitive, a HUD with the color and the corresponding letters would help a lot
