I'm getting only a light grey screen that does not respond to Windows. Interestingly, it appears behind the Explorer window I opened it in.

uberi 2012-08-27 21:40

Thanks for testing, BMacIntosh, while I don't know what causes this I've uploaded a new version that possibly fixes the issue.

hamster_mk_4 2012-08-28 01:12

I am getting the same error as Bmac. Task manager says it is "Not Responding" good luck on fixing the bug.

kharza 2012-08-28 01:31

Same for me, I shall return when you have it working. Looks trippy :)

To those of you who are having difficulties with playing Out of the Sea, would you kindly state your OS version and service pack please? In my admittedly limited testing I have not tested very many OSs.

ghribacki 2012-08-28 01:58

Damn, I really enjoyed your description and was excited to try it out, but I've got the same bug. Windows 7 64-bits here. I hope you guys can fix it so I can play and rate. :)

ghribacki 2012-08-28 01:59

Oh, and service pack 1.

bmacintosh 2012-08-28 02:00

Still same error. I've tried it on two different computers (both Win7 64-bit, DX11).

renatopp 2012-08-28 02:05

Same error here

davidemo89 2012-08-28 02:08

awn sorry, not working :-(

dalbinblue 2012-08-28 02:22

I am having the same issue I get a blank unresponsive windows 7 x64 bit.

uberi 2012-08-28 02:22

I've been unable to reproduce this "Not Responding" issue on any of my test systems, I'm afraid. Sorry to those of you who are having issues with it, I've made a gameplay video for you guys :)

By the way, I would appreciate it if you also tried the source code version, might help me figure out what the problem is.

firehand94 2012-08-28 02:23

With Great sadness I must say it doesn't work :(
Running Win 7 64bit up to date.

gbellgames 2012-08-28 02:41

Same problem here :(
Windows 7 32 bits.

conflictivelabs 2012-08-28 02:55

Not responding, Windows 7 32 bits

maikeroppi 2012-08-28 03:15

Sorry, I seem to be having the same issue. When I start it, I get a gray window and it launches a new Windows Explorer window with the folder I launched it from.

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit.

davedobson 2012-08-28 03:26

Doesn't work for me either, Windows 7 Premium 64bit. Frozen non-responsive blank window. Sorry - looked like a cool project.

2creative 2012-08-28 03:45

the game dont work. Apear grey screen and stop.

mottmatt 2012-08-28 03:55

Does not work. Tested 'Windows' on a Windows 7 32-bit box.

timsterstudios 2012-08-28 04:04

I'm getting the same problem that other people are getting. I'm on Windows Seven x64.

uberi 2012-08-28 04:20

Thanks for all the responses. I still have no idea why it's not working, but it would be great if anyone could tell me if it is working for them. And if so, what their setup is (OS, whether you have AHK installed, etc.). Perhaps a pattern will emerge.

For now, I don't even know where to begin debugging yet.

kharza 2012-08-28 04:22

64 bit windows vista for moi, I dunno what AHK is

uberi 2012-08-28 04:27

Sorry, AHK is AutoHotkey, the scripting language this game is written in. Being short on time, I used a ton of hacks to make everything work correctly.

That included forking a ton of processes to handle sounds asynchronously. Hey, don't point that thing at me. It's ugly, it's slow, and it causes kittens to die, but it works.

For now a tentative workaround is to install AutoHotkey at the website provided in the post. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to change this anymore, so I won't just to be safe :)

tomhunt 2012-08-28 06:04

Starts up behind the Explorer window, doesn't respond at all. Windows gives me the "this application is not responding" dialog.

Running Win8 RP. No AHK.

edgarverona 2012-08-28 06:44

Okay, I've got to bite on it... the game was written in AutoHotKey? I thought that was a keyboard macro program?

infinitedog 2012-08-28 08:26

Same problem here :(, the window doesn't respond.
Running on WinXP 32 bits.

goerp 2012-08-28 08:54

I'll try again on my desktop, because it looks intruiging, but it didn't run on my Windows7 laptop

juaxix 2012-08-28 08:54

Does not work in my Windows 7 x64

goerp 2012-08-28 08:57

I'll try again on my desktop, because it looks intruiging, but it didn't run on my Windows7 laptop. Started, but nothing happened (blank screen)

aschearer 2012-08-28 09:19

Sadly I too am not able to run on Windows. I tried Windows 7 and 8 both running 64 bit.

starmen 2012-08-28 09:23

I'm getting a crash on launch, Windows 7 64-bit. I've bookmarked this though as from the screenshots, this is absolutely my type of game.

gama11 2012-08-28 09:50

I run Windows 7 64-bit, and it crashes for me as well. :/

goerp 2012-08-28 13:39

On up-to-date winXP32 desktop 3GB Dual core also not working. I've seen the video and it looks very good!

uberi 2012-08-29 04:28

It is indeed a keyboard macro program. However, it's capable of so much more - it's a pretty complete scripting language, actually.

If anyone has installed AutoHotkey and is still experiencing these issues, please sound off in the comments here. Otherwise I can only Ask you to install it and give it another shot. Thank you for your patience! I am at a mobile device right now but a post-Jam version will soon be made available that will probably make the code significantly cleaner.

bumpkinrich 2012-08-29 19:22

Won't run. Windows Vista 32 bit up to date. Shame as the video look.. well.. different :)

pickledbrain 2012-08-29 19:30

It's working for me. I'm on 32 bit win7 with ahk. And wtf, I wanna be a goat lol ;)

capgrip 2012-08-30 02:50

Same error. Windows7 X86 and no Service Pack installed.

uberi 2012-08-30 03:24

CapGrip: do you have AutoHotkey installed? For now, this program requires AHK to work properly, even the compiled version.

You may have noticed that I've added a notice about the AHK requirement. Or not. I can't figure out how to make this text bold, anyways, it doesn't support MarkDown, HTML, or BBCode.

demonpants 2012-08-30 17:41

Mac version please thanks!

mknight 2012-09-03 12:38

I think it may be a problem of graphics card. On my computer(Win7 64-bit 500Mb discrete graphics card) it flickers a lot, while on school's(integrated card) it just stopped working.

Ps, I have used a lot of your scripts, thank you very much.

josh-dreamland 2012-09-07 02:50

Space to evolve into a random animal doesn't fit the theme very well, but it is pretty funny.
