Very well done. Well polished and fun.

Very well done. Well polished and fun.
Very good game. The writing/dialog gave it a lot of meaning and context, which was fun. Some technical things, the game ate my mouse (I had to use the keyboard to EndProcess the game because there didn't seem to be any other way to regain control). And I wasn't sure when I was being hurt. Other than that A+
I like the idea, it's similar to my entry in some ways, but I had problems with the controls and the design. You see there is an issue when I can only shoot on one side, and enemies gen all around. I have to move to one side of the screen, wait for the bad guys to come, move to the other side of the screen, shoot at them until they get close, rinse and repeat. This isn't a fun process. It's quite slow and there is a lot of waiting. I think if you changed it so that the player could fire in different directions it would solve this problem and make your game better. Anyway just my opinion.
I like your idea of adding pieces and building your ship. The evolving enemies is a cool feature too (I love GA's).
I see good potential in this. It would be fun to play as either the Keeper or the Angle (I think I'd prefer the keeper :) The graphics are nice. I really like the moving backgrounds. It would be really cool and fun if the wizard had animations for falling into the traps (I would play those up a lot for humor). The cards look nice and clean. I didn't always know which one went were though. One suggestion I would make is to have a whole party of Heros (this way some can get killed and it would add more variety). Good game :)
This is awesome for your first game! You should see my first game. It was really really bad lol. Good animations. Try to keep fish and other guys near the center, they seemed to like the edges. Great job on the upgrades btw. Next I think you should work on making the character move continuously, like Mario, instead of in lock step. Also you can go here:
http://www.bfxr.net/
And create some sound effects. Don't let all the buttons scare you. Just hit the buttons on the left, then export to wav and ...anyway you'll figure it out. Good work
Oops. Looks like you forgot to include your assets (the data folder) with your executable. (I've done this with unity as well).
I love the mood of the game. Just seems peaceful. A little music would be great to amplify that. I didn't like the top down shark part (so hard so quick) and it took me a while to figure out what to do on the last scene. The fish swimming animations are great. The game has lots of character. I don't see much of that. Great work :)
Oh and what did you for 2d in unity? Did you just write your own code or use 3rd party stuff? I'd like to do 2d in unity but it's been tough for me so far.
Yes I'd enjoy a timelapse video of this if you have one :)
Bonus points for the name. It's a complicated game and without graphics it's hard to understand what is happening. I think I can see where you want to go with this game and it has potential. You just need to put more into the presentation and slowly teach people your magic system, which I understand was probably in your tutorial.
It's working for me. I'm on 32 bit win7 with ahk. And wtf, I wanna be a goat lol ;)
I wasn't sure why I died. The stairs after the second jump are annoying. Still the concept is interesting.
One hit kill is a little harsh but I really liked the changing character and how hunger was the driving force.
The player movement and action are smooth and well done.
140? Dang BNeutral you're better at my game than I am lol. And yes you guys are right it needs more variety, different bad guys, and game elements to adapt to. I really appreciate your comments everyone. Thank you :)
Same here. Nothing came up.
Love your graphics. They remind me of the Where the Wild Things Are. The game has very unique gameplay, almost puzzle based. Good work. Btw I think I found an interesting bug, I selected one individual and meant to select another but instead the guy just walked by itself into the tent and a baby appeared lol
Now the concept is...Well I'm trying to wrap my head around it because it seems like a fantasy world that includes evolution. It was odd but it's an interesting odd :) I like your title screen. Lastly, great background music.
I liked the game. You give good feedback to the player so they always know what's going on. Now the sound. You really need to remove that sound once you win. That was bad. It hurt my ears. But I like all the kittens running around. The player animation could use a little work but other than that you did a good job on graphics. Good game.
The web link seems to lead to a blank page.
I should have been more specific. It goes to your web page at ld24/page.html with links and such but there is no game.
Aww it's a java game. Yes I do believe I need to upgrade :)
Loved the Tron level. I didn't get any sound.
I Evolved into A Chopper! I am amazing! :) The graphics and the music create a cohesive look and feel. Great game. Oh and I love the cigar.
Your monster thing is creepy. It's gotta be based on those frogs that hold their young in their backs. Those things are so nasty lol Anyway I really liked the mutations and the humorous intro text and it's fun to boot. Be even better with sounds and music. Great job.
It just crashes on startup for me. DX and the redist installed just fine.
I got lost a couple times but the movement and action is well done. As others have said your sound effects are good and I like the particle effects you use as well. It's fun. Nice job.
Having the only way to move my robots was to make them patrol drove me nuts. But I like the graphics and I love the concept.
Ahh. My bad. Yes I thought only the right mouse button moved the robots. Much better now :)
Couldn't play. Server's timing out.
Awesome intro music. You spelled civilization wrong (sorry to nit pick). I like your sense of humor, the art style, and those freaking Rabbit Ice Monsters!
I got to the Demons and they just rolled over me. I like the changing powers and abilities. A temporary speed boost would be nice. Once a bunch of demons got close it seemed like game over, I couldn't out run them, but maybe I missed something. Good game.
I like the character art, especially the knights.
I don't see any links for the game.
I'm getting 404 page not found on both your links.
I like the codes idea you mentioned in vlog8. Bonus content from finding things inside a game is very cool. I don't think I've ever heard of that being done before. It would work really well for an rpg or story driven game because you could easily give the player more backstory on characters along with concept art. Sorry rambling ;)
I like the pixel style you used. I like the character building in the beginning. What was difficult was I didn't know what to do after that. It was also hard to see where my character was. Still I really like this idea, you just need more clear goals and feedback for the player. Add that and I think you would have a unique game people would enjoy a lot.
Le_Saurs - Totally. It needs sound.
thegoofromspace - Thank you for all the ideas. And I completely agree with your critique. I wanted to make custom meshes that would be 100% accurate instead of eye-balled textures but I ran out of time. I'm encouraged you liked it.
Thanks guys for playing :D
I like the graphics. I'm sorry but the murder scene kind of cracked me up. It was really surprising when multiples of the same person showed up (bug I'm guessing?). After talking with one person I couldn't talk to another.
The tutorial said to jump. So I thought I was supposed to without adding anything to my cloud.
The pirates stole my nuculus at Jump Point 1. I wasn't sure how to defend myself. Then nothing happened so I restarted.
Music is good
I like being able to add to my cloud. I wasn't sure why I couldn't add some add-ons. Later I assume it's the price. The game should pop up something to let me know why I can't do what I wish.
I guess I got a bit frustrated because I wanted to add a turret and I couldn't afford it. So I get attacked by the pirates every time and then nothing happens. I don't know why.
The game looks very well made and even polished but I have no idea how to play.
Good theme and audio. I love how they wiggly in the beginning
It's good that it tells me what I did wrong but I'm not really sure where my energy is. I don't get the top part. I understand the lower part and totally Agree :D
Nice particle effects. Graphical theme is well done.
I love the recorded voices. Baaahhh lol. Couldn't figure out how to effectively move more than one sheep. Controls work well though.
Fun and interesting concept. I think outlining the target and the projectile with an xray shader would be helpful for player feedback.
Tough game but I enjoyed it. Nice work
Immediately engaged me. Good auditory and visual feedback on the egg click. I like the humor of the writing. The talk sound can get grating. You introduce information gradually (not all at once) in the beginning of the game, which is good. I like the build up the creature and let it loose in a dungeon mechanic. I find myself routing for it. One suggestion, don't let the creature retrace it's steps.
So I wasn't sure where to get money and I ran out :(
It's like tomogachi + dungeons. Good game
I like the pixel art. Some basic instructions on how to control the character would be good. I figured out I could changed shape, was surprised, and enjoyed that. The wall climbing is interesting and I think you could do more with it.
I had a bit of a hard time with the doors and walls. Am I supposed to jump over them? Or shift into a human to open them or...? I loved that I could turn into a squirrel.
Fun idea. Keep working on it
Smashing the rocks is fun. Good feedback on that. The paper/cardboard theme is well done. The acceleration on the player can be a little tough to control but it's still really fun. Solid game.
Pretty unique idea. Liked it.
Great game! The most fun I've had playing LD games. I like these abstracted versions of existing games. I think the actions (Fight, Heal, ect) need a little more feedback, like particle effects, sounds and such. I like the magic balance and the UI looks clean. I loved it when the UI changed color, great choice.
Picked up the cursed blade...oops. The UI got darker and darker. Very cool!
Transubstantiation...really? lol Solid entry. It's a bit addictive actually. It's so easy to just type another word and see what happens, you kick into a flow state (like playing bejeweled or tetris). Very neat. To expand upon it I'd love to see an attack or some military action and more choices.
I like the design. You did a good job with the sounds, informing the player of a time limit and punishments when they did something wrong.
Really interesting. I could get into a game like this. Allowing the player to change their deck between rooms was a great design choice.
The action/board game idea is well done. One big thing I wished I could do is choose which direction to explore the base. You did a good job with the writing. I think a tick, or sound, or visual cue would be great to know that the numbers on the cards are changing. I like the the little board game token movement. I smelled the flowers :D The font/text is a little mangled on my comp, making it a bit hard to read. Adding a specific sound for each card would be awesome, a shot for the pistol, a grunt for the punch ect. Good work. The writing kept me goin
Love the idea. And your graphics are good but the collisions drove me a little nuts. It's hard to know what to do when also. These are little things you can fix and you'll have a funny game. Nice work
I like the color palette and the minimalist style.
I like how the enemies can follow you
You created a menu with a button that reads, "You need this." lol That's awesome. I liked your models and animations. You picked a tough mix but I can see where you were going with it (I picked golf and robots myself :)
I didn't know what I was supposed to be doing until I saw your gif on this page. BUT It's easy to pick up, good sense of humor, and I like the graphics. Cool game.
Like the walk motion and you did a good job "juicing" it up. Did you register RPGClicker as a trademark for Ludum Dare?? Sounds expensive
Combining activity on the right and left sides of the screen made my brain hurt in a good way. I really liked the idea of clicking the gear increasing my jump. Very Creative. I was pretty confused about the numbers for a while. So focus on how to explain your mechanics to players. Good Job! Fun game :D
Couple suggestions. Strikes should be displayed only when the player misses. Having "strikes" available like a resource doesn't make intuitive sense for a punishment mechanic. Also when a shape is coming up and the only matching card is currently being created, it's often too slow forcing a near miss. These are small things that could easily be fixed.
Other than that. Good music and graphics. Overall it's fun. Nice work
I like the gentle music. I got a little lost. You did a good job of keeping the player safe while they learn the mechanics in the beginning. Showing the reflections (where the ball will go) is great feedback. Great job of slowly adding mechanics. I'm impressed. I just wanted to keep exploring. Add content, polish it up, and sell it
Great Job!
