Was following you to see when you would publish the game ! I liked it.
To be honest I don't think they are incompatible genres and could even turn into a really cool game.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD41 → RPG Clicker

It's great! needs sound options and a better way to heal
I enjoyed the game. The concept worked well and all the animations for battling (enemies, slashes ect.) look really good. One thing that hurt the game a bit was the unexpected difficulty jumps since it can be difficult to tell if an enemy will have 10hp or 400 before you enter a battle. Also it would be nice if there was an option to go through text faster. Other than that, good job on the game especially for your first entry.
The graphics are amazing and the concept is actually fun. I love the walking animation and the attack animation! The music loops too tightly and is a bit annoying. I didn't know how to heal myself. After the first few enemies, i only had 3 hp and 40 gold...and then i ran into a guy with 600hp :D
@Rongo Matane Yea I admit that music a little repetitive, but I wanted to have all parts of game in. I made music in a hurry, also made some mistakes with text and game is not balanced quite right. but that is because a I didn't have much time. I need to balance my time right, but I hope I won't make those mistakes in the next game jam ;)
When we thought about the topic, I also had the idea to combine Clicker with another genre, but I didn't get any further with it. Your entry is really amazing, fun to play and I can well imagine that the game (still further developed) unfolds great addiction potential! :D (Only the sounds are a bit too annoying for my taste) ;)
Saw your game on langotriel stream. Looks good, I like the gameplay. With more variation (weapons, skills, etc) could totally be a real game. I'm glad you haven't put music on the rating tho, that was kinda hard to bear. Anyway, good job!
Would be better without its current music but the game is otherwise relatively well put together and has a charming look. Some balance changes are in order, though. Solid effort!
Unless I missed something, healing is way too expensive and since there isn't much you can do to avoid damage, it makes the game very frustrating.
Other than that, the art is really nice and the overall feel works very well.
I feel there were not enough enemies to properly level my gear.
I honestly love this. This has potential. :]
I laughed when the charater moved xD love the animation! The graphics are very nice and it mix very well RPG and clicker. The only thing it needs is to put some Lvl number or something in the top of the enemies, because if an enemy with a lot of HP spawns or moves where the easy ones are, you will certain die. But I loved the game, good job!
very good entry. good works on art, animation camera and effect.Unlucky i always step on a too hight level mobs for me, maybe an indicator. But really good games. Nice Job
missed opportunity to give the giant enemy crab a weakpoint
Nice graphics, but "boss" difficulty was too high for me =)
The graphics and your choice of palette are definitely good.
Some points though:
1.) It would be nice if you can finish interacting with an NPC using the mouse too, since you already established that this is a clicker game. I kinda expected the controls to be reliant on the mouse. Nothing major.
2.) Enemies get harder to kill but your health/recovery doesn't scale just enough to survive out there.
The genres work quite well together. I'm not so sure if they're what we can say "incompatible" or "unlikely" but, together, they're certainly fun to play.
I'm surprised your game doesn't have a lot of ratings yet. It deserves more attention. So far, good game. You can definitely make this as a full game in the future; it has potential.
Well done! It was fun and the graphics were great. I thought the walk animation was a nice touch.
Wahouuuuuuu, very very nice game dude :) I really like your interpretation of the theme and you graphics !!
I was taken by surprise by how much fun this game was to play around with! I would've like to have seen different damage output depending on where you clicked on the monsters, but overall, fantastic game!
This was really cool! I just wish it was easier to get back into the action quicker after dying
Like the walk motion and you did a good job "juicing" it up. Did you register RPGClicker as a trademark for Ludum Dare?? Sounds expensive
I wouldn't say these are incompatible genres but anyway it was fun, good game. It would be great if it was fully controllable with mouse or touch. Also perhaps some way to know the level of the enemies, perhaps buying an item?
@pickledbrain Thanks. No I just added that because all nes title screen had that registered/copyright character in, It's a joke :)
@palsina Yea I think it could work on just touch, and I could add some level indicator on enemies but for now I'm finished with this entry. Maybe I create full mobile version of this game using just touch screen as input, I'll see ;)
This is a really nice idea with good execution! My only suggestions would be a way to skip dialogue lines so when you die you don't have to wait for the text to scroll again. Well done!
Great work! Would love this on mobile.
Congratulations on completing your first LD game! I really liked this game, but it is a bit unbalanced as you already know. I didn't mind the music but I found the talking sound incredibly annoying - maybe try something less high pitched next time. The art was really great and the combat mechanics felt just right for a clicker game.
Congratz on entering ldjam with the entry. Skipping dialogue would have been ideal, and sounds were bit annoying. For some reason I liked the guy's animation. I can see this to be tremendously big effort for such a short period of time. Getting RPG done in just few days, with monsters, weapons, items etc... that's very well done.
I really love the wobbledy way the hero moves around.
