I like the mood of it. The ending screen is cool because you learn more about what is going on in the game. And I played several times more to see if I could learn any thing new.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD41 → Farmer 21

Me upon first playing: Aww this is cute! I think I'm starting to get the hang of how to play this.
Me after playing: **HOLY CRAP**
I do stand by the fact that I really dug the art style. The simplistic graphics were really effective at delivering the story, and I love how you mixed this with the black screen and text. Gameplay itself is pretty basic but I get that it only serves to move the story along. Once I got the hang of it, it was just about doing the same routine over and over, though the change in atmosphere is what initiates me to keep going because I'm curious as to what happens next.
There's a couple of issues that stood out to me, one being that I don't understand how this relates to the theme? I guess the genres being combined here aren't necessarily game genres, but even with that in mind, it doesn't seem that far off from being **SPOILER** a dystopian plot. Is it the fact that it was portrayed with chunky pixels?
The control scheme feels a bit wonky as well, but maybe I'm just too used to interacting in other games being mapped to a key that requires you to use an entirely different hand. Nevertheless, it did not detract from the overall experience/mood, which is definitely this game's strong point.
Would've loved to see a little bit more!
The idea of a farming/horror game is really cool, and I liked how you wove the horror elements into the repetitive task of farming. The game also really succeeds in creating a strong mood with little information given, which builds up a strong sense of mystery too! I think the game would benefit from audio, as well as building up the mechanics a little bit too.
Yesyesyes I love pixel art games! Took me a while to learn how to interact with things (You should always read the user manuals, no matter if it's a Ludum Dare game or an Ikea table...)
The game art looks amazingly consistent. I wanted to learn and progress further into the story. Loved the mystery theme. However I did not get which genres it mixed(Farming Sim/Mystery maybe?) Still considering the games I played this game has the best atmosphere.
Would have liked it to be a bit longer, but overall a very solid game. Controls seem a bit unresponsive, but it doesn't really ruin the game at all. Hope you keep working on this more!
Good Story dude, and the graphics are pretty cool, loved it ! Hope to play a sequel.
Oh wow. It's short, but still. I can't really say anything else to it. It's kinda confusing at the beginning though, but it's the intrigue that's good.
Cute little horror game. I guess that was the "Incompatible genres" part of this entry? One suggestion i can give, to trick players into thinking that it's actually way longer, is to restart a game after every cycle, increasing the farmer name number. That way we would have been wondering for some time: Can i progress any further? Am i doing something wrong? Is there really an end to it?
Also you have not considered that the player can interact with the bed, before doing any house chores, and progress to the next stage without seeing any signs or shadows.
Nice game and idea 5/5!!! Good Luck! The idea of a farming/horror game is really cool, and I liked how you wove the horror elements into the repetitive task of farming.
It was Kinda tricky figuring out what was going on in the beginning, but from there it was interesting.
Really short, but the style is nice. This would be a really interesting story game.
Interesting game and a nice take on the theme. Good job!
Please, take a look at my game too: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/confessional
yeah like others have said here it is quite short, art style is cute though :)
It was quite difficult to know what to do at first without any tutorial. But when realized it was much easier. It's quite short but is a cool concept. Loved the cute farmer :)
Oh jeez that legit spooked me. Very short, but I liked it.
Good job! Cool game!
I left my rating of your game, if you can leave your feedback in our game, Witch's Escape.
