LD42 — Running out of space

Parking Spaces by Imphenzia 2018-08-15T01:22:52Z

This is really well made. It took me some time to get use to it, but I eventually started to get the hang of the system, and I must say it's really fun. It's also a nice space and time management game that fits well with the theme. Great work!

Cosmic Collapse by ryusui 2018-08-19T20:24:55Z

This game is quite intense. It took me a bit of time to realize what were the barricades, but after that, I zoomed full-speed-and still ended up getting wrecked from barricades because I was too focused on crystals, haha. Quite a solid game, good job.

Eventful Horizon by bitdecay 2018-08-14T04:25:58Z

It's a nice game, albeit I didn't really know how the teleball system worked. Sometimes it will hit the surface and I won't teleport to the location but other times I instantly teleport the moment the ball collides to the surface. Despite that, it's pretty fun to mess around with. Also those are some very nice looking cutscenes. How did you get the time to make those?

Baggage Claim by mgoadric 2018-08-15T17:59:43Z

Wow this game is pretty hard. I like it. Focuses both on space management and multi-tasking. Good job!

Dear Leader's Diet Plan by Historymaker118 2018-08-14T18:32:03Z

This game is hilarious, haha. Couldn't get past stage 3 though. Too much weight to get rid of. It's quite fun though. The audio is pretty nice too. Good game!

Pop it! by LJay 2018-08-16T21:33:47Z

I like this take on the theme. It's also pretty fun-and funny at the same time. Good job!

Rebound by Greyo 2018-08-16T16:56:24Z

I like this game, haha. Combination of puzzle, memorization and quick action. Good game!

Cryptovirus by Corqi 2018-08-21T02:05:44Z

The puzzles in this game were pretty well designed. A breather level in between to introduce a new panel type followed by a challenge afterwards that's not ridiculously hard yet still challenging. Great job!

WeAreTheAntidote by Mowztouch 2018-08-14T22:02:19Z

I don't really know the goal of the game so at the end I ended up killing off everyone, but nothing happened still. Not sure I get how to play this, but I think I know what you're trying to go for, and I do like the idea.

Abalite Crystal Defender by Ryfi 2018-08-14T02:34:04Z

Despite the fact that I'm not a fan of FPS games, I do like the concept behind this game and I did find it pretty fun. The place filling up with your own debris definitely fits the bill of running out of space.

Dumpotopia by DjeyCreations 2018-08-16T20:43:35Z

This game's really nicely made! The graphics and audio are very well done, and the gameplay is solid while fitting the theme perfectly. I would suggest giving a good indicator for when the "power" is ready for use again, though. Aside from that, good job!

Globulator by Corbak 2018-08-17T19:10:45Z

I like this game. There were very few virus to deal with though-if you have time for a post-jam, I'm sure you'd be able to add a lot more different type of bacteria and diseases for this game. There was a problem at one point where some of the bacteria managed to phase through the walls though, but apart from that, great game!

Deity of Destruction by Veilastrum 2018-08-14T17:42:35Z

@kostbllb @mowztouch @alexfalkenberg Thank you all for your feedback! I've updated the game page with some more information that might be helpful for everyone in understanding the game a bit more. We might also add a side help file along with the game in the future.

We were short of time-so we couldn't make the game instructions and the sounds effects for the jam, but if we were to do a post-jam version of this game, then we'll definitely add those into the game!

Deity of Destruction by Veilastrum 2018-08-14T18:35:32Z

@trocentraisin Really? Strange, I'm re-testing it right now, and I don't need to hold the left mouse button to use the specials. Not sure what's going on with that on your side.

It's funny because I actually thought thunder wall was underpowered at one point, haha. I guess I'll have to take that back then and recheck on that. EDIT: Scratch that, it is overpowered. Guess some tweaking has to be done for post-jam then, haha. Thanks for your input.

I still don't have any problems with only clicking the right mouse button for specials. Care to tell me the platform you're using? It's definitely not a problem with coding or keymapping here, but I'd like to figure out what problems you had with the right mouse clicking for specials. It would literally be impossible to be the third special if the left-mouse button had to be held.

Zero G Hero by dave_troyer 2018-08-14T16:51:10Z

This game's pretty hilarious, haha. I like the game-although I wasn't able to find my way around. Interesting sound effects and art style-quite comedic.

Shrinking Universe by Renier 2018-08-14T17:59:35Z

It's pretty fun, but the double-clicking sometimes gets a bit tedious. It's understandable though, since we need a way to aim. Graphics are pretty nice. Some of the things are rather hard to destroy despite being small though-like the asteroid/comet.

Storage Madness by rangoiv 2018-08-23T23:33:56Z

This game's quite fun. There is a few problems with the aiming though-it doesn't always shoot towards where your mouse is for some reason. Enemies occasionally also spawned right in front of my face. Apart from those, this is really well made. Good job!

Step into the Void (Web) by Bilzc10 2018-08-14T03:06:26Z

The game's pretty fun! Really fast-paced as well. There was a couple of times where the level became impossible to finish right off the bat because all the tiles around the trophy immediately disappeared right at the beginning of the level, but apart from that, it's a great game.

ground_0 by Jamison 2018-08-17T03:30:03Z

Quite a good game, quite hard too. I like it. My eyes did start hurting when the screen's shaking started getting amplified, but that's probably my fault for trying to multi-task, haha. Still, good job!

Master The Space by nenas 2018-08-14T22:12:46Z

The first thing I thought of was space tetris. The idea's pretty good too. I was kinda confused as to what I was suppose to do at first, but I eventually got the hang of it. It's a nice first entry. Good job.

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-16T22:19:31Z

I like the style of this game. Simplistic yet interesting and fun. Good job.

Space Balls by Shafournee 2018-08-15T22:48:26Z

Aha, I like your take on the theme. The ending was hilarious for some reason. Good game.

Data Strain by Nikyaer 2018-08-14T19:28:54Z

The graphics and animation are great, and it runs really smoothly, but gets nigh-impossible after some point and the physics gets a bit screwy when there's too many boxes on the field. It's good apart from that. I feel as if you made this into an adventure action beat-em-up game, it'll turn out great, haha. But I guess we all gotta fit the theme, right?

Outta Space by Coal Creek Game Devs 2018-08-16T03:56:51Z

The game's functionality is really well done, but there seems to be no real goal apart from just collecting things-which doesn't seem to do anything. Is it because of the lack of time?

LD44 — Your life is currency

Galaxy Explorer by jondalnas 2019-05-14T00:42:51Z

I like this game. However, the right-click button seems to not work very well-kinda forces you to restart the game after you press it, since the rocket silos don't come with their own rocket ships. I like how each of the buildings have key roles and their own place on each planet. That said, perhaps you should make the view zoomable, or perhaps include a very expensive teleport function in the future to warp between planets, haha. Nice work.

Game of Fields by jkniest 2019-05-12T18:41:24Z

At first I didn't like the fact that the randomness plays a huge role in who wins in the game-until I found out that since all the rolls are affected by the landscape and begins relative to the screen's position, if I zoom in/out and then make the roll either in between the zooming or after the zoom, I can adjust where the dice would hit on the terrain, which actually lead to my first win against the AIs, haha. I would like a fast foward button though.

Lifelight by Kromzem 2019-05-16T15:35:11Z

Pretty good game. I do believe that there needs to be a clearer indication of HP. For some reason, sometimes, enemy HP feels like they increased drastically at times, but I'm not sure whether that's my imagination or there's a function that causes that. The graphics are really nice. Good game overall.

Reaper Resurrection by Veilastrum 2019-05-01T03:04:43Z

@trozen Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad to know that the executable was at least able to run a bit, haha. Spent a lot of time trying to figure out what went wrong but there had no leads to fixing that.

The lance was probably the most powerful of all the weapon choices available if only because I did not have time to balance the weapons properly at the end. Phantom Impact and Soul Cannon were likely the most underpowered ones because of their charge mechanics along with how weapon cooldown works in the game currently.

In regards to the music, I actually did make the music but it was from a long time ago, so I didn't count it for a rating for this game because it was originally for something else. I didn't have time to compose new one for this game specifically so I just grabbed one of my old works and stuff it in. Glad to know that it fits though!

For the speed upgrade, I guess I was too use to quick dodges myself, haha. Might have to slow that down sometime. As for teleport, I didn't have enough time to finish designing it unfortunately.

The rooms fall into the lack of time to balance again, haha (also, because I ran out of time to make more enemies so that there would be more weaker enemies-as a result, the enemies that weren't harmless were either elite or mid-tier class enemies).

Reaper Resurrection by Veilastrum 2019-05-14T00:48:36Z

@enderswype I'll think about doing so someday, haha.

@masterproject Thanks! I couldn't make the game restart on game over with the little time I had left when I worked on this, but it was definitely one of my intentions while I was working on the game.

@roque Unfortunately, I was unable to port this game to webGL or even an executable, thus why I left it as a source code. Haven't been able to figure out the source of the problem yet, but I guess for future projects I should be constantly exporting out an executable just to make sure that problem doesn't come again.

Hot Slots: All In by trozen 2019-05-01T21:54:43Z

This is a pretty nicely designed game. I like the fact that the coins from previous levels actually carry on to the next room if you don't pick them up by accident-nice anti-frustration feature right there.

Swords and Kreatures by Ausstein 2019-05-07T03:09:37Z

The idea of the game is quite nice. I feel that the execution could be done better though, but considering the time constraints, this isn't too bad.

60 Days Till Summer by Fnkee 2019-05-07T02:02:20Z

I liked the idea of the game. Perhaps you can try to finish it up sometime, but that's up to you.

NecroBlood by Little Valhalla 2019-05-16T17:53:32Z

I like the game, but have some issues with the balance of the game.

Packs of warriors that spawn literally mows down everything. I think that the way the game's designed, warriors are overpowered no matter how slow they are because of how they can gather together and mow down everything you summon because they are so tanky that they stay on the field, deals insane damage, spawns quite frequently, and because of how resilient they are, warriors from behind will eventually catch up and continue building a literal warrior "wall" towards you that's basically impossible to break. Even with their lower attack speed, since they seem to love coming in packs, this disadvantage is immediately mitigated by the sheer number of warriors that march, allowing of them to lay strikes one at a time, killing literally everything. No matter what I summon (army of skeletons, zombies, vamps), they seem to mow down everything no matter what.

Your summons also spend too much time doing nothing but standing around while nearby summons fight despite being extremely close. This allows for packs of enemies (especially warriors) to pick out your summons one by one very easily. Perhaps make them a bit more aggressive? Also the fact that warriors can literally one-shot the most expensive unit doesn't feel very fair. I know vampires can drain HP and thus a bit harder to balance, but with all their cost and the frequency of warriors that somehow appear in packs, it's bit ridiculous how all of them die off the very moment a pack of warriors (which spawns very frequently) come along in my opinion. The other units don't fair much better either against warrior packs, but at least they can somewhat last a bit before being inevitably trampled by warrior walls.

Apart from these, this game's pretty good and the idea is pretty neat. Balancing needs quite a lot of work, but apart from that, good job.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Advance Cookwares by Aurel300 2018-05-03T02:27:24Z

Wow, this is impressive. Excellent idea, fun gameplay and just overall great. Although I would suggest for the menu and buttons and stuff to transition instantaneously since it feels kinda slow sometimes that you have to wait for the transition to be finished before you can do anything. Also, carrot, patty, cucumber and tomato all take to long to prepare for of such little value. I won most of my games by spam raw sauce burgers and mutt burgers-with only sauce and salt on it. I'm sure that if you had more time though, you'd be able adjust everything to be just right.

OUTLAW 🚗 MAYOR 🚓🚓 PANIC! by 01010111 2018-04-24T19:14:27Z

This game seems really well polished. It's also pretty funny as well. The controls were kind of annoying but it's probably intentional. Overall, good entry.

Crazy Cube by YANIV 2018-05-13T17:08:23Z

This is a really interesting concept. It took a while for me to get use to controlling the die's controls in regards to its shooting, but I got more use to it as I played it more. Great entry!

Chungholio Tower by SlimothyJ 2018-05-02T01:36:57Z

Quite a simple game, but it's quite fun. I was lost most of the time though and kept falling into the tiny slits everywhere, but considering you stated that the game was meant to be unfair, it's probably just that and I'm just not persistent enough, haha. I'm not sure what the two genres are though. Apart from that, this is a decent entry.

Grid Gunner by SuperTibbles 2018-04-24T14:57:07Z

This game's pretty neat. I do have a gripe with not having the option to stay still (and it telling me that red tiles heal me), but it's overall pretty fun.

Email Fishing: A Tower Defense Fishing Simulator by Johnny Turbo 2018-05-13T16:56:13Z

This is quite a hilarious and unique game, haha. I like the concept behind it. It kinda quickly got impossible near the end though, but it's fun nonetheless. Good job!

Time Spike by egawag 2018-05-09T17:02:42Z

This is a well made game. The idea is phenomenal and executed quite well, although the stopping of your movement does end up getting a bit annoying when there's no enemies around, but it was still fun to play. Good job!

Carmagotchi by Re-Markable 2018-04-24T18:55:27Z

Oh man, the music had me laughing the entire time, haha. Good job.

Rhythm Overdrive by Diblow 2018-04-25T04:34:30Z

The game looks and plays amazingly, but in my opinion, it doesn't really have a mix between two incompatible genres-it feels more like a shoot-em up with a gimmick. The game is extremely well polished though. Good stuff.

The game that bad that it is actually good???!!! by Peta 2018-05-12T17:10:58Z

... I don't know what just happened but that was somehow hilarious, aha.

Lost in Spacetime by zeMenno 2018-04-24T15:31:44Z

Did you make the shoot button with the left mouse button key on purpose? 'Cause it throws my aiming off since I'm so use to either mouse aim or using some other key to shoot when aiming is not decided by mouse position. I guess that's all part of the difficulty, haha.

Overall, decent game.

PlatSCII by whycardboard 2018-04-24T19:54:28Z

This is really nice game. Smooth and polished game-play, nice graphics, and good music as well. The atmosphere adds to the mood of the game as well. Overall, very well done.

BlowScape by Fleoh 2018-04-24T20:37:53Z

This game is extremely well done. The costs for repairing and upgrading are on point, and the multi-managing of all the necessary functions along with the platforming action really mixes the 2 genres very well.

Run Farmer by forestd 2018-05-11T03:21:32Z

It took a while for me to get what I was suppose to do since the game started right away, but once I found out, I really liked the idea. There were a few problems like if you run faster than the screen itself to rush to the exit, it literally goes "The next day..." "you died". But apart from these things, it's a pretty nice entry. Just try to put a start page or something instead of starting right away, and perhaps a tutorial of some sort and it'll be all good to go.

Farmer 21 by Jon_Nova 2018-04-24T18:40:41Z

Oh wow. It's short, but still. I can't really say anything else to it. It's kinda confusing at the beginning though, but it's the intrigue that's good.

Star Shadow (Incomplete) by Veilastrum 2018-04-24T15:10:32Z

@rytannic Thanks. I'll try to be more positive with my creations on later jams, haha. This was my first jam I've ever had.

Star Shadow (Incomplete) by Veilastrum 2018-05-07T04:53:31Z

@Utho @GenTel @egawag @Kaiomoi @Lyrcaxis @David Boeger @driedwatermelon Thank you all for your feedback! My apologies for responding back so late.

I will keep in mind all of your tips for future jams and try to stay more positive with my creations in the future as well.

Stellar Storm by Bousquet Luc 2018-04-24T17:33:29Z

The game's graphics and audio are pretty good.

The core game-play's pretty decent, although the blue enemy spawn rate is a bit ridiculous-there was a point where I've killed enough of them for them to stop spawning forever, then I went ahead and captured every single base and called it a day.

There's also a problem in the tutorial page where it's nigh-impossible to leave and the fact that pressing Esc/Pause while you're docked at a station glitches the game up.

But considering this was made in 3 days, it's a rather good entry.

Tactical Hydra by MacDoom 2018-05-11T17:45:44Z

This was a challenging game. The controls takes some time to get use to, but it quite fun. Good job!

Card Defence by Andregh 2018-04-24T19:04:32Z

I get the concept that you're trying to produce here, but this game is extremely buggy in its current state, and nigh-unplayable. Still the idea is fairly good. I'm sure that if you had more time, the game would turn out great.

Star Brawler by SamuelDeboni 2018-04-24T17:49:13Z

This is pretty hilariously fun game, haha. I like the throw system (although it sometimes glitches up), it gives a good gimmick to the game. Overall a rather good entry.

Apocalypse Mini Golf by driedwatermelon 2018-05-09T04:21:30Z

It's a pretty nice game-kinda hard to figure out at first but I still enjoyed it. I would have liked it more if there was a way to control the power of your strokes/putts, but it's understandable with the time constraints. Another thing issue was the fact that your stroking and putts have infinite range. I could hit the golf ball from a mile away if I was able to click on it. It's overall a pretty decent entry though, although I didn't really see what the two themes are.

Sam by ian1337 2018-05-12T03:50:32Z

It's a pretty nice game considering the time constraints placed for this. There's a lot of things you can add on to it if you're planning to release a post-jam version of it. Nice job. :)

Me da miedito la oscuridad (I get goosebumps in the dark) by Espetapas 2018-05-11T17:04:04Z

Finally got a chance to test your game back. This entry is quite amazing. I didn't have a second player with me though, so I had try soloing the thing and playing both roles, which made it extremely difficult for me, aha. Great game.
