Your game is nice and well done ;) But it take me a little time to find how to purchase consummables (maybe player should spawn near the shop?). I like ennemies graphic design.

metju 2018-08-14 07:30

@sinnis Thanks for your feedback!

griz 2018-08-14 09:07

Got to late day 2! Almost whole screen was in enemies then. Would spam grenades, but they got more expensive the more I purchased. Aiming on screen edges, shopping safety and enemies spawning on player could get some love, but still I had a good amount of fun.

incinious 2018-08-14 09:12

Really fun take on the top-down shooter :) Loved the cute little SD card, but it was Google Chrome that ended up taking all my memory. Classic Chrome.

metju 2018-08-14 09:14

@griz Thanks for your feedback! We're aware of these bugs, sorry for that!

worai 2018-08-14 09:15

Running into performance issues on my laptop, HP with amd radeon r5. I'm afraid this marred my first experience playing this game, but otherwise well done! Graphix and musix on point!

noam 2018-08-14 09:15

Nice game, Great graphics, I love the glow around the some of the apps, and the good music. Though I understood how to buy things from the shop only after I read one of the previous comments here. Great entry, I enjoyed playing it.

matank 2018-08-14 09:21

Really cool concept, and had a lot of fun playing it, but got too difficult for me very quickly. Would be nice if game would pause while you're at the shop.

marmpa 2018-08-14 09:31

Really nice enemy and area graphic design. The gun was frustratingly slow and was really hard to kill the enemies. Also sometimes it shooted in random directions. It was a bil like playing in hard all the time :stuck_out_tongue: . It had a really nice implementation and use of the theme, kinda breaking the fourth wall, and had my hooked for quite some time trying to beat those damn quick coming chrome thingies. Would be really helpful if it went slower while you were on the shop. Really nice try , and i wish you good luck

skelpdar 2018-08-14 09:41

Enjoyed playing this! The variation in enemies was nice and they complement each other well. The graphics make it always clear what's going on. The aiming seems to break near the edges of the map. I got killed twice by Chrome while shopping, it would be nice with some safe time to shop between days. It was a fun experience overall, great job!

kirillr 2018-08-14 09:57

Fun game!

robowarrior1982 2018-08-14 10:01

Really cool game, nice graphics and music but shooting is very slow!

matzetoni 2018-08-14 10:04

I agree to @marmpa , the gun behaviour killed me, and the enemies should slow down when you're in the shop. But nice graphics and idea, maybe change the hitbox, sometimes I could have sworn Chrome did not touch me! :D

scott-purcival 2018-08-14 10:04

Great concept and art - for a first game looks really polished. Also took me a bit to find the shop. My only concern is the app logos looked a little too like the real thing, and the game is HUGE filesize wise (which is hilariously ironic) Otherwise - awesome game! EDIT: Oh! Felt it needed like a reticle for the mouse.. lost my mouse a few times. :)

fredmaaktgames 2018-08-14 11:48

The shooting felt a bit off, but other than that fun game! Enjoyed it very much :)

rother-games 2018-08-14 11:52

Very nice graphics. But sometimes the I had problem shooting because it didn't shoot exactly where my mouse was.

lavinski 2018-08-14 13:17

The art style is amazing, but for some reason the shots didn't always fire in the expected direction.

zozol 2018-08-14 16:28

i see that others reported the bugs already. i second that game should pause when you're at the shop - i panicked a little and couldn't find 'exit shop' button, haha. but i had fun nevertheless. thanks for your game!

metju 2018-08-14 17:30

I've read all of your comments and we've decided to post a bonus link in the description of the game for the updated version (as soon as it's ready) which should have solved the bugs and slightly improve the gameplay. Of course, we're gonna keep the original version because it would be cheating to replace it with the new one, so consider it just as a bonus if you wanna have even more fun with this game!

Again, thanks for your feedback, this is our first game ever and we're happy you like it!

nats 2018-08-14 18:05

Very good job! I love the chrome ball ^^

swiftpotato 2018-08-14 18:53

Love the concept! My team came up with something similar haha. Overall the gameplay seemed to work rather well. It would definitely be interesting to see an updated version of the game as you mentioned above, looking forward to it.

saering 2018-08-14 21:50

I got scared by Google Chrome.

It was nice to play, I really like the graphics and the feedbacks, they're great, the only thing I would say is bad is the fire rate. But that's not a big issue :)

ryan-wickman 2018-08-15 01:12

Fun game, jagged camera movements made the a little dizzy however, but solid nonetheless!

knithguris 2018-08-15 06:44

Oh, Chrome is op! I should really switch to Firefox haha . I enjoyed the game, and had fun time playing it.

sarneh 2018-08-15 09:27

Build for Mac, please!

team-on 2018-08-15 09:51

*DAY 2. Run close to shop. Shop opened. Murdered by chrome*)

madamin-z 2018-08-15 11:14

Really cool game!

rangoiv 2018-08-15 13:22

@sarneh We'll try to build for Mac both original and no bugs version soon. Hope it'll work for you since we have no mac to test it ourselves :P

edit: just realized we can't export to mac since we dont have it lol.

rangoiv 2018-08-15 13:23

@knithguris Maybe we'll add firefox in the future, be careful what you wish for ;)

metju 2018-08-16 15:24

Guys, we've updated the game! Check the description for more info and the download link.

shell-pirate 2018-08-16 19:35

I liked your take on the theme with the obvious memory hog apps as enemies, I think that was a pretty creative aesthetic choice. Overall the aesthetic is nice but I feel that the floor tiles, while thematically relevant, were a bit too busy looking. The music was mostly just there but it was by no means bad and I suppose it fit the futuristic tech theme. Gameplay-wise I think you have the basics down pat and all that is needed is polish to make the game feel really good to play. I would start with the shop interaction. I feel it was clunky because of the inclusion of the exit shop button which just slows down the gameplay and leads to taking damage while fumbling to click it. A simple solution would be to entirely remove it and make it so when the player is close to the shop the shop menu appears and when they move away it disappears. Secondly, the shooting feels rather weak so I would adjust that to make it more satisfying. Faster bullets, a faster shooting rate, screen shake, a meatier sound effect, muzzle flashing, really anything you can think of can be added to make the shooting really pack the punch that is needed for this sort of game. I suggest watching Vlambeer Games' video on the subject of Game Feel (it's called "The Art of Screenshake" on YouTube). I will finish by saying I played the Game Jam version so perhaps my issues have been addressed in the update. I'm simply pitching in my two cents as to how to improve the game because you seem to have a strong desire to do so which is very commendable. Solid work overall!

metju 2018-08-16 21:29

@shell-pirate Thank you so much for taking time to write this review, we really appreciate it! We plan to turn this into a full game in the future and will make it look polished, as you mentioned above. We apologize for the missing features; it's just that it's our first game ever so we're still learning! :)

mza 2018-08-16 23:49

Saw you game on Tim's twitch and felt like playing it immediately. Fun shooter game. I was expecting Microsoft Edge, then again what the likelihood of it appearing?

Very fun game and well made.

A few pointers:

- I felt like my mouse was lost amidst the background. Something like a red crosshair will help a lot. - In fullscreen mode, I went to the far left (no up/down), started shooting and the bullets won't follow the mouse but the player shot top-left always.

This was all done in windowless fullscreen mode btw.

Most first games are not this great. Mine wasn't.

abhis1kadian 2018-08-18 10:53

@metju A fun little implementation of the game. liked the visuals but i could only fire in one direction.

brandon-napky 2018-08-23 22:28

Really nice! This might be the most polished game I've seen in this jam! I would've liked if shopping would've been a bit smoother and the top right UI a bit less invasive

veilastrum 2018-08-23 23:33

This game's quite fun. There is a few problems with the aiming though-it doesn't always shoot towards where your mouse is for some reason. Enemies occasionally also spawned right in front of my face. Apart from those, this is really well made. Good job!

grahhhhhhhhh 2018-09-02 18:23

Sweet graphics. Some of the enemies were tough or annoying (snap chat ghost), but I loved the art style for everything, the hero, the enemies, terrain. Very attractive!
