LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Project Morph by evandowning 2017-12-05T13:30:48Z

Music was nice, but the stacked sound effects of the base arm cannon when you spam it was unfortunately jarring. My personal preference is for there to be some progression in the players ability to do stuff, empowering them, so the extra bombs chasing the player, the arm cannon shots being exchanged for much slower sword slashes was anti-fun for me. But the theme this time felt like it was hard to design around, staying true to it, so you definitely get full rating in that category :)

Smooth Lines by yojammerjammer 2017-12-05T14:49:50Z

Never laughed so hard playing a LDjam game :D I'm certainly no master of pickup-lines, (I have zero lots of them) but the... the thing was... the lines were hilarious XD

Dungeon Boy! by nardandas 2017-12-05T14:18:10Z

The mood the music sets is nice, besides which it would have been nice to have some more audio cues as to what's going on, goatmen (?) growling, slime thangs sploshing across the floor and such small things. The most important things like sword swings and bombs going off give the game some nice oomph. The music did, however, quite often drown out the other sounds. Ofc you could lower the music volume, but I think it would be more effective to pass it through some equaliser and lower the volume on middle frequencies (abt 500 to 2k Hz). The latter would allow sound effects to cut through the good music.

'Twas some simple yet effective use of procedural generation. :)

Venny is in Trouble by djosef 2017-12-05T15:48:10Z

The balance between various sounds is good, providing nice oomph to effects and events. You can hardly ask for any improvement to this game, though if I had to name one, that would be to add some equalisation to the music, lowering the mid-frequency sounds, and allow high and low bands through, so that the music and sound effects don't clash.

This game will stay on my hard drive :)

Objectification by CaptainDreamcast 2017-12-05T16:17:28Z

My first impression was honestly bad (especially because of the lack of sound), but after getting into the game I quickly forgave you. Precious, legend!

Drugrun by Fluffi 2017-12-06T08:36:47Z

Bloody awesome soundscape! I'd personally steer away from anything to do with drugs, but I forgive this game due to the meaty sound effects and music which blends in so naturally into the game.

10 inches or less by Almost Panda Studio 2017-12-05T15:20:17Z

Overall a very well executed game, making excellent use of the difficult-to-use theme! The music fits the mood well, tho it becomes a bit repetitive to my ears.

Cursest Dungeon by Dupix 2017-12-06T08:05:49Z

Would have loved to have some sound effects from falling stalactites, chests thump-a-dumpin' in place in the back of the pick-up, and perhaps some weird effect for the cursy effect. But other than those things, I agree with the title: the dungeon definitely was the cursest! Nice use of the theme! :D

One Matter by toboggan 2017-12-05T12:25:07Z

I am a sucker for well executed soundscapes, and I liked this one. The music makes the game experience well rounded. However, for me the teleportation effect, especially when spamming the arrow keys, detracts from the experience. Some manner of fade effect between scenes for the drone would have made a big difference for me. Like most people have already commented, the controls feel ill suited to PC keyboard. But it was super easy to pick up and play. Has terrific potential!

LD42 — Running out of space

AXIE by Rad4th 2018-08-19T09:21:11Z

Awesome! I missed sounds and music a lot, but just looking at the zerg from star craft how their sound fx and music changed between first and second game... it didn't sit right with me XD And I imagine it's hard to come up with good organic sounds that provide sufficient oomph-feedback for actions the player take. A pretty well-executed original idea!

Lootsalot by Sn4pi 2018-08-14T09:46:41Z

Very nice game! Our team had a somewhat similar idea for a game with inventory management akin to yours, but lootsalot is so well executed I can well imagine myself coming back to it. I find the game difficult, which contributes to its replayability.

Flat Builder by Drauthius 2018-08-19T09:39:53Z

First and foremost: thank you all for playing our game!

@slojanko: Yeah, we were running out of time and energy-drinks XD But I believe the whole team agrees that it would have been a nice feature to be able to go back in time to what your build looked like prior to any structural failure and such.

Several people run into issues when running the html5 version. Please download and run the executables if you find the html5 version unplayable for you.

For those of you who find your constructions constantly breaking, I personally recommend building the basic beam-works, press the play button and wait for the whole shebang to come to rest. I believe the simulation will automatically stop after four seconds. Then please continue building, and repeat the process of playing and letting the construction come to rest.

@hauo I'm curious how you placed your beams to make them instantly break. I'd be much obliged if you were to post an image :)

Nose Picker by gimbalock 2018-08-20T17:56:35Z

Sorry, I can't start your game :(

ROBO Brick Factory by SnorkySnark 2018-08-18T15:13:27Z

I'm afraid the controls made it nigh impossible for me to play. The response I get from trying to move and jump aren't what I expect.

Mars Initiative by greenbluebit 2018-08-24T18:44:24Z

I love space. I love mars. I love orbit mechanics and Kerb- ... *physicist brain fizzle* Great game! 11/10!

Running out of space TD by AllesKapaul 2018-08-18T15:58:56Z

Considering all the difficulties you describe I think this game ain't half shoddy. It's not quite a complete game of course, and by the sound of it you did this all on your own, which in itself is quite commendable! My rating might not be entirely fair, but I really wanna pat you on the shoulder for sticking to your plan!

Healing Overflow by Guaxininja 2018-08-18T15:05:27Z

This game made me lol each time I lost it XD A game which I seriously think I might come back to and play again. Interesting and innovative usage of the theme :)

Maroon 2 by juju 2018-08-19T08:56:43Z

I liked the feedback on the controls of ELisa's craft.

Claustraphobia by AwesomeFaceGames 2018-08-18T23:02:04Z

A game that could be quite fun if it got some more polish. I s'pose I wouldn't mind the repetetive music if there were different tunes for each level, akin to yume nikki's one gazillion little tracks (search yume nikki ost on YT) I like how you've added sound effects to most events in the game, giving it some fun oomph :)

Spacial Management by GeneralJman 2018-08-18T14:26:28Z

This game made me lol XD Despite the simple idea of the game, I might actually save it and play it again later :)

Storage Madness by rangoiv 2018-08-14T09:15:49Z

Running into performance issues on my laptop, HP with amd radeon r5. I'm afraid this marred my first experience playing this game, but otherwise well done! Graphix and musix on point!

The Mail Room by Lilly 2018-08-18T14:54:18Z

I have an issue getting past the first work day. It's think it commendable how you chose to make a game themed around depression. It's difficult, if not impossible, for people to understand what it's like unless you've been in that kind of space yourself.

I found the game sort of enjoyable, despite the depressive theme, though I really like it when games have audio feedback from things happening around you in the world. Some soft sound of boxes falling down the chute, the player picking up and dropping them, things to that effect which don't distract from the music that really sets the mood.

Running out of space by Old Starchy 2018-08-14T09:22:25Z

I would like to try your game. Is it possible for you to upload an executable of it and make it available for download? :)

Running out of space by Old Starchy 2018-08-18T14:12:21Z

I like how pretty much all events in the game have quite distinct sound effect associated to them. You get an "oopht" kind of satisfaction from shooting stuff. Also, I like the physics in the game. The controls feel kinda finicky, tho it's kinda difficult for me to pin down what could be done about that. Thank you for uploading the exe :D

Quantum Hop! by Brooklyn 2018-08-24T18:28:13Z

Very nice! The fun in this game was really only hampered by the force quit when you reach game over. Most game-design guys would probably preach about how the same level shouldn't be reused (I didn't finish first level, don't know if there are any more), but I think it was ok in this game, because it gave me a chance to feel accomplished when I learned all the jumps I had to do by heart. Lovely art, nice choice of sound fxs, I really miss the music, but still a great game!

Shrink by Devin Martin 2018-08-14T10:27:55Z

I might come back to this game and play it again :) Well executed use of the theme!

Culminating Demise by Vishal Haridas 2018-08-18T22:51:48Z

404. would like to try this game tho :)

What consequences will BREXIT have upon relations with EUROCC!? It's worrying!

Noroi by Drauthius 2018-12-10T20:45:00Z

@agwblack, @olivier-millochau, @deathbysnail, @almax: considering how much I struggled with the music this time around it's incredibly satisfying to receive praise for it! Listening to noh theatre music non-stop the entire weekend was worth it then  Thank you!

Muffin Island by Ryan Lambe 2018-12-08T15:19:51Z

A fun idea :)

Suzanne Awakens by Sunzed 2018-12-08T17:22:11Z

Really cool idea for a game mechanic! :D

Abortion Boy by Saering 2018-12-08T14:50:10Z

I was blown away by the music to this game!

Bob the Reaper by FlashViper 2018-12-10T20:49:24Z

Seriously struggled with the controls in the beginning, but it's incredably satisfying to figure it out :D The design is cute :3

Arcane Vitality by Judgy Knowitall 2018-12-04T09:51:52Z

Overall a fun game, BUT!! - lack of clarity of what was going on when I was trying to attack (took me a while to realise I was doing a jump attack), - no feedback as to how much health I had left, - no indication that I was actually hit by an enemy (no sound, no flash of red or whatever colour you'd fancy)

However the art was really cute and the sounds you had in the game set the tone appropriately and it made me smile a couple of times :)

Car Destruction Racer XIV by unplugred 2018-12-11T19:40:17Z

easy to pick up, hard to learn, as a game should be :D

Sacrifice by Log Cat 2018-12-08T15:16:28Z

I downloaded the game, but I could not play it. Maybe some file, or many files are missing, I don't know. But I wanna try and play your game. What do I have to do to play it? :) sacrifice errro.PNG

I got this error when I tried to run the windows version on windows 10

In a Land of Behemoths by OdinTheUnknown 2018-12-08T14:53:24Z

Would also like to try this game. Put up a download link, pretty please :)

LD44 — Your life is currency

A day at the farm by ZenriS 2019-04-30T08:00:44Z

took me a couple of attempts at this game to understand what I was meant to do, but each attempt was quick enough that I could quickly iterate and learn. I'm happy I tried this game!

Town of Currency by Drauthius 2019-04-30T08:54:44Z

@beanslasher @mimusangel @quagga @walterp : Thank you so much for the nice comments thus far :D

Town of Currency by Drauthius 2019-05-01T19:05:32Z

Holy mother of lords, @fluffy-kaeloky ! GG!! Seeing how other are doing on a scoreboard, and having game mechanics which allows you to get into your own personal zone is something I am much fond of. When @drauthius proposed implementing that I was like "GOD YES!" Compare this to games like e.g. devil daggers.

@boxedmeatrevolution I won't personally be able to contribute to any more contents before my wrist stops being sore after the LMB spam  Playtesting was brutal :smiley_cat: For the same reason I won't compete against anyone for first place on the leader board the next week.

Blood Thief by Draedrus 2019-04-30T12:08:49Z

Solid game! Short, but it would seem as if you focused on making something good, rather than cramming out crappy content! :D

Protocol: R.W.S. by Derek Volker 2019-04-30T07:51:30Z

As a music nerd, I must commend the music and sfx-design!

Glampire Baby Herder by don.shinski 2019-04-30T07:41:04Z

big thumbs up for the usage of the theme

Chesty the Treasure by Lord9000 2019-04-30T10:53:28Z

loved the music :)

100 Chef Island by BitJester Media 2019-05-05T06:50:01Z

I know you did not want to be rated for music and sounds, but I feel like playing a game without any audio-feedback is like walking through town blindfolded.

Super cute characters though!

An-unnecroman-seeable-future by Sean Young 2019-04-30T10:07:17Z

I didn't understand the mechanic with the spell thang :(

Alien Forest Destroyer by Gyaha 2019-05-05T08:51:41Z

I don't know why, but even though this game ought to feel incomplete, it's strangely satisfying to me. Took me back to when I played ps1 games and the novelty of simply being able to walk around and shoot stuff in 3d space.

The only real complaint I can come up with is that it's hard to tell what's going on the screen. I was specifically confused about what particles were the shots from the shotgun, and what was dust from plants and debris.
