I liked the idea of this game, and I hope you expand upon it, there is really cool mechanics that could be added to give it that extra oof. XD time constraints get us all, but you did a fantastic job with this project. Great work!
I really enjoyed myself!

Plays great. Art and sounds and controls is good. Release this game with full meta gameplay and scenario )

Nice graphics. The sfx for killing were a bit loud, but the voice lines when you started were funny to hear. When you shoot the dead aliens over and over they just continue to get hit and stay on screen which was funny. Great effort, keep up the good work.

For my first couple deaths I had a score of less than 100 and it went straight to the high scores, and I was confused about what to do with money. Only after I scored >100 did it tell me that you can buy a new life for 150$, and only after getting the extra life (and killing a lot of aliens) did things really pick up. The late-game part of the game where there are aliens attacking from all directions at once was fun.
I like that the enemies pause to warn about their attack and that some of them get smarter as you progress. The short range gun also worked well with the pause since I found it is often good to run toward the enemy rather than to run away.
I would have liked to have some sort of movement ability so that I have more to do than just walk and shoot, and I also would have liked enemies to spawn more frequently in the early part of the game.
Also: I currently lead the high scores at 387! Good luck future players.

Love the humour and style of the game. The voice lines are great and sounds like you had fun making them. Also the respawn animation is really satisfying. Would love to see more enemy and weapon variety. Keep up the great work! 👍

I really love this game. There was a small graphical problem where there were your tilemap did some weird stuff where enemies died, but that's such a small thing. Great job!
Kinda addicting to play :D really nice The leaderboard is also a nice addition, got 8th place
Overall its a quite fun entry. Personally i like twin stick shooters (even beign terribly bad at them, only managed to got the first upgrade of this game) so it would be certainly a good experience. The innovation and theme seems to be matched by the game upgrade, which i really didnt expected. Its kinda odd that the dude is replaced by a robot, but well, c'est la vie. The graphics are really not my thing, but it fits the theme proposed by the music and humor, with the effect phrases at the beggining, redneck stereotype expulsing invaders from his land and banjo music. Well, it works. Also, props for implementing an online highscore. Really nice feature to have, rarely saw in this kind of event. I guess it took some previous preparation for that, which is also notable. Good job!
@derek-volker Thanks for your kind words and feedback! The online highscore is hosted by Game Jolt. They have an API for it, and there're probably plugins for all the major engines (we used https://github.com/rojekabc/-godot-gj-api). Quite easy to set up and use!
Very fun overall. Cool monster animations. The graphics are generally nice.
I hung up after buying a new life. The character did not want to leave the toilet. The theme of the competition is quite banal.

I really need a feedback for the enemy dash :/ and i can't pay for second life instead of having the price for it :/
Neat, a Godot entry! I was almost convinced to use this, perhaps next time :)
Like you audio and gameplay, pretty cool that the corpses stick around and become a bullet soaking hassle. Nice one!
Made in Godot nice!
Consider checking https://itch.io/jam/godot-wild-jam-9
Great funny game! Is there any use of money besides nuying new life?
New guns or turrets will make this game a cool turret defence game!
Finally made it onto the scoreboard! (but only barely)
Like: - Alien animation and art. The "running" aliens were especially good. I liked how they would pause for a moment before running at you with their tusks - Voice acting and music. Both fit the mood of the game nicely - The "revive" mechanic, and how you came back even stronger than before! I thought that was creative and haven't seen many other games do it
Suggestions: - I thought it was odd that you could collide with dead corpses. Eventually they despawned, but it was annoying to walk into them. I think either the corpses should have never despawned (so you'd slowly build a fortress out of dead corpses, which maybe enemies would rip through), or the corpses should not have had any collision - It felt like the enemy behaviour changed as time passed. Personally I like being able to "learn" the behaviour of specific enemies. Having some pallet swaps for the "stronger" versions of the same aliens would have been nice
Overall good game! And I loved the inclusion of a scoreboard. I definitely spent some extra time playing while I tried to get a high score!

Very nice! Shooting feels good, hitting the enemies feels good. Being able to shoot corpses is a nice little touch. Good job!

Haha. This was good fun! Loved the art style and the music suited the pace of the game. Quite challenging and addictive. Got swarmed by those shooting ones in the end. Great job. I had fun!

Interesting take on the theme, good way to think outside the box. This is a fun game. I didn't last very long, but I had fun playing. One hit kill is pretty brutal. I wish I had at least a few hit points, but that's not a deal breaker. The voiceover seemed a bit loud and had some static, so it was harsh in my headphones. Other than that, this was a pleasant experience.
I am first on the leaderboard now, try and beat this ! :p
Addicting to play, and I found myself tryharding the game to get a score close to 600. I just was a bit unsure as to how to beat the giant machines, if at all possible.
Great job !
@fluffy-kaeloky Glad you liked it, and grats on your high score! The giant machines are killable, just takes a lot of bullets to get one down!

Holy mother of lords, @fluffy-kaeloky ! GG!! Seeing how other are doing on a scoreboard, and having game mechanics which allows you to get into your own personal zone is something I am much fond of. When @drauthius proposed implementing that I was like "GOD YES!" Compare this to games like e.g. devil daggers.
@boxedmeatrevolution I won't personally be able to contribute to any more contents before my wrist stops being sore after the LMB spam  Playtesting was brutal :smiley_cat: For the same reason I won't compete against anyone for first place on the leader board the next week.
@worai I wasn't aware that GameJolt proposed a ranking service. They give you an API to use I suppose ?
That looks really interesting, I thought of implementing it sometimes, and my first thought would be to use a SQL server with a ASP.NET API, but that looks much easier and faster.

Damn, the one hit kill is brutal. Got to $145 twice before getting the upgrade, and inmeadilty dying. Love the artstyle. You should try out my game. It's a similar top down shooter. :D
Definitly going to rember gamejolt, a leaderbord is very cool.
I haven't made an LD game this time around, so I cannot rate, but I can leave some feedback:
1. I liked the aesthetic of the game. The pixel art was cute. 2. The music was a little repetitive over time, but it fit the context. 3. I had fun playing it. It gave me that "oh go on, one more" feeling, which few LD games achieve. 4. I didn't understand the currency thing at all, until I died near the $150 mark. As far as I can understand it's only a method to gain a life. So it's not really currency at all, and I would say that the theme was missed all in all. 5. My least favourite thing was the corpses being in the way of the action.

Good job guys :) The pixel art of your game makes me kind of jealous, so thats a good thing. The implementation of the leaderboard is a nice touch aswell. The game is not too hard and not too easy. Good stuff!
Nicely done top-down shooter. It is balanced fairly well, so you don't die immediately and actually have a good chance to accumulate some money for 1up. And the background music is wonderful and fitting. Good job.
@mike-inprinciple Thanks for trying out the game and leaving feedback! You're right that we didn't hit the mark on the theme. The extra lives were more of an afterthought and is pretty poorly tacked on for no real reason other than we felt something more was needed. The connection to the theme is made in a hacky way through the backstory (your whole life is in Currency). Seems like people either thought the lingering corpses were a nice touch or an annoyance. I guess we could have made them blow up if they got too many shots on them, instead of just having a fixed time limit. Not having them impede walking would probably have been a good idea as well.
@raphnika Thanks for the kind words! It means a lot. We're not professional artists, but we're somewhat able to do passable pixel art, but it takes a lot of time and effort.

Interesting concept! Gameplay felt tight and responsive. Overall it was a lot of fun to play. Sometimes enemies seemed to get stuck on each other which made it easier to kill them but that's just a minor thing. Nice work!
Noice mood and graphics, hope you had a blast this ludum dare
This music is top notch haha. I am glad to see a Godot entry, I have been considering trying it out. Playing to 100 points was worth it!
Awesome game. Made a lot of fun to try and beat a highscore !
Brilliant graphics, funny audio, controls are very simple but effective and responsive. Unfortunately though I am just too rubbish to survive more than a minute or so!

was able to revive once, which was a nice surprise. I was kind of expecting upgrades, but overall pretty polished. nice to see a leaderboard for a jam game. Keep up the good work!
