LD44 — Your life is currency

Drytown by DavidPIxel 2019-05-02T09:25:58Z

Just wow! This is so far my favourite game I have played here. The art style is amazing - did you taki inspiration in Minit? Because this game feels very similar. The execution of the theme, music, feeling and the technical side are almost flawless. As for a jam game I really don't know what to criticize - I would really like to produce such quality games on jams as you.

A really visually stunning game! The execution of the topic and storytelling were superb. The lack of any tutorial /dialogue for me wasn't an issue - because the core was simple enough to figure out myself. However I have some remarks about what should be changed. Firstly and most importantly - fix the collision detection. Either snap the player to the absolute grid values (as your whole game is based around the grid) or make more space to move in. Trying to fit in the pixel-perfect spaces made this game not hard, but frustrating. And that's never a good thing - especially if you're throwing around dozens of enemies. Also - the full randomness of the standard roaming enemy was the second source of frustration. I think you should either decrease their number or make them more predictable by level design - as I found myself waiting for them to line up just perfectly before I could progress. Lastly - I'm not a big fan of ultra-low-pixel art but your graphics (especially these story screens) made me appreciate this form of art a little bit more. However, the idea to make the grass and trees wave a little bit just made my eyes hurt, because it caused these nasty pixel seams on the sprites. I think you should either try to apply some filtering to this waving effect or get rid of it completely. Okay, that's enough, I really like this game and if it wasn't as frustrating as it is now, it would easily fit in my top 3 jam games so far. Anyways, keep up the great work!

Brave Swordsman by falak 2019-04-30T11:53:54Z

The sword swinging mechanic is the thing I love this game for. It's a simple concept, but very well executed. Game is a bit hard, but very satisfying, and has a great mood created by awesome music. Just some more polish in feedback areas (for example sounds when hitting someone) could be great.

Absolutely amazing game. I wish my jam games were this polished. The only problem I had is that the lose condition wasn't prefectly clear for me at first.

Beautiful game. The visuals and music are extraordinary. Controls are a bit unintuitive and could benefit from more detailed explaination. Also the black hole finding through clicking away and "exploding" the particles is great, but you're unable to detect any black holes that are further away because the particles are too slow. But overall I really loved it!

Great game! The ability to upgrade my sh\*t really got through to me. Although the sh\*tting mechanic for me was useless, the overall flying feeling, graphics and music are flawless! Would play this on my phone if you released it for mobile one day.

Mopping Out Of Time by Lukasz Golygowski 2019-04-30T10:46:30Z

I would have never thought that mopping the floor could be so hard. I didn't manage to finish a single level - but I guess that I'm just not the best janitor out there. Controls are unintuitive and at first I didn't read the description so I didn't know what to do - but when you know how to select your "weapon", the game actually works. The dead silence is a little bit unnerving, the walking animations are weird and the blurry level background hurts my eyes, but the game works and I'm sure your next games will be better.

The Hanging Mind by bartekd97 2019-04-30T10:57:49Z

Although the main game mechanic is extremely simple, the game has this clean and polished feel not may jam games have. Everything works, everything is intuitive, the game looks very good and reminds me of online flash games of the past. Memory game isn't the most exciting, but the combination of it and the hanged man game brings at least some fun, and I really, really like it.

Dead Sirius by The Wiggly Geko 2019-04-30T11:36:27Z

A pretty good execution of a standard "tower defense" type of game. The controls are a bit unintuitive, but the mechanics work pretty much ok, so that's a plus. My biggest issue with this game are the graphics, which look like "my first game in Unity". It's a shame this game looks not so good, beacuse the atmosphere created by the UI and sounds is great and the graphics are an unpleasant contrast to that.

Creepy Currency by Krzysztof Jablonski 2019-04-30T12:19:34Z

Very beautiful game! A simple concept, but executed very cleanly. It's the second memory game I review today, but this one comes with a nice twist and amazing art style. Well done, maybe not the most fun game, but very clean and professional looking!
