LD42 — Running out of space

Path of Excess: Hoarder vs Horde by quill18 2018-08-14T13:17:02Z

Was cool to watch you on twitch during the development of the game. The game is very good and I think it was a good choice to skip background music. It would be nice if you could rotate items, I think it would open a few more options to fit items especially the 1x3 weapons. The are looks very good am glad you went for the pixel art instead of the 3d art.

Ice n Fire by Jiri_One 2018-08-14T12:05:53Z

Very nice game, I like how the ice blocks your movement. The first time I played I just spam shoot, than 2 seconds later I got stuck and die.. ;) It makes you have to time and think about where to shoot.

Humans Need Space! by Ayxs 2018-08-14T11:56:43Z

I like the concept, but feel like the ship is to slow.

End.of.Line by Richard Pittman 2018-08-14T11:38:42Z

This is good example on how very simple game mechanics can be very fun. I can see this play very well on mobile. The simple art style was a good choice, but the game could use some sounds. Jump, death and background music would made this game even better. I hope you keep working on this game.

The Arena by ZenriS 2018-08-14T11:05:32Z

@akros thanks.

The Arena by ZenriS 2018-08-14T12:14:18Z

@conorod Yea I thought about trying 2 player, but that's over my skill level hehe.

The Arena by ZenriS 2018-08-14T13:30:30Z

@psjuk0 Thanks, I used a lot of time to get the AI movement to work well. I wanted to add jumping over the gaps for AI, but didn't have time to implement it. @gurkenlabs Thanks, I didn't even think about third person, but I think what might be a good idea. I might try that when I get time. Thanks for the suggestion.

The Arena by ZenriS 2018-08-22T09:32:10Z

@balka When you win there is suppose to be a win screen with button to main menu etc. Don't know why it didn't trigger for you. Am very new to Unity's navmesh system, I had no idea it would force a teleport if the AI was stuck on on tile. Am glade you still enjoyed the game and thanks for the feedback

Gone in dark cave by dray 2018-08-14T14:19:46Z

I didn't understand the game at first and was looking for a health bar for my character but suddenly I understood and I like the concept. The art is nice, but the enemies is a little hard to see. The game would be a lot better with some sounds, just some basic hit and damage sound would go a long way.

Password Camp by Rombus 2018-08-14T12:54:22Z

Very nice game, the art is great and the sounds fits very well. I liked the boss battles, but some variation would be nice.

The skeletons took my boat by smiley 2018-08-14T10:47:09Z

Cool concept, I liked the pick up and damage sound, but the gun sound could been better so the guns felt more powerful. The art style was well put together, simple yet it looked nice and you clearly saw what things where.

I was fun to play and the end music was very nice. Lets just hope he can out row those skeletons.

Dear Leader's Diet Plan by Historymaker118 2018-08-14T12:11:24Z

Very nice audio work, the art could have been better but did its job. If only weight lose was this easy in real life :)

Mad Desert by djosef 2018-08-14T14:24:29Z

Cool little game, nice take on Tetris. The art was also very nice.

High Factory by Jima 2018-08-14T11:33:59Z

I am a sucker for these kind of games. I like the art style and it's realy cool that you can automate stuff. But the game realy missed sounds and some UI elements when you picked up something would have been nice, but I guess there wasn't time for that.

Spacebars by The Triumvirate 2018-08-14T13:35:25Z

Cool interpreting of the theme. Like how all the tiles are keyboard keys and they change if you press that key.

Pre Alpha Build by PlusMinus 2018-08-14T12:24:18Z

Very cool game. The random building configurations are a very nice touch. The art and music is also very good. Could be cool with some elite or boss enemies with a different colour.

Pre Alpha Build by PlusMinus 2018-08-14T13:38:30Z

After playing the game for a while now. I see it could use a score system, maybe based on kills and buildings lost. Had this base running in the background for around 2 hours while I played and rated other games hehe :) ld.jpg

Reductor (LD42 Comp Entry) by ConorOD 2018-08-14T12:48:22Z

Great game, realy like the art. Would be nice to have a timer on the power ups.

XORN: The Fallen God by ThibaultAr 2018-08-14T10:37:00Z

I realy liked the environment and visual effect. The lightning was a very nice touch. The gameplay is simple, but yet the game get hard, which is great. I missed more information on the stuff you could buy and some feedback when you tired to buy something you don't have enough for.

If you are going to keep working on this game I would add more level layouts, attack types and monsters.

Get to Work! by Deprecat 2018-08-14T13:09:43Z

Nice concept and art. The game played well.

Slow Access Memory by Odin 2018-08-14T10:55:14Z

I like how you used the theme. The graphics are nice and the music was good. You should maybe add a main menu with some info about the game. To bad there was only one level, but it shows of the concept very well. I can see this be good little puzzle game if you had many other level and more skills to use.

I hope you will keep working on it.

Count your Steps (or you will run out of space) by Akros 2018-08-14T11:03:14Z

A very nice puzzle game, fits the theme well. I could use some ambient sounds and a kill box when you fall off. I like the simple art style.

Tribe Terror by Monkosum 2018-08-14T10:23:35Z

It was fun and I like the idea.

Dungeon, Demon and 2 Walls by Yulia 2018-08-14T14:04:26Z

Cool art and sounds, nice gameplay. Would be nice to be able to take multiple hits with a health bar. It feels to easy to die, when a mob spawns on you. Also a little warning before lasers activate would be nice. But with that said I realy like the game. You guys did a very good job.

Wizard Collapse by Nozgart 2018-08-14T11:50:57Z

Cool game, the music was great and I like how the slimes came together and got bigger and the game looks great.

Zerg Coming! by hdmmy 2018-08-17T05:40:32Z

Nice AI movement, like the usage of the theme. Would be nice with some sounds and music :)

Save the dudes by jjcp 2018-08-14T14:28:07Z

Nice puzzle game. Very cool graphics.

Move_LD42 by Diablo 2018-08-14T11:44:16Z

Nice little game. I agree with @jeremy-ryan the map loading looks great. But I found it a little hard to play the character and coins where to small. It might be better with less tiles but everything bigger.

Cluster by Ignacio Zamorano 2018-08-14T13:59:08Z

Very nice. Realy liked the art and animations. Nice touch to have the evil computer user in the background.

The Big Crunch by psjuk0 2018-08-14T12:39:30Z

Cool and fun concept.

Terraforming Cookie Tower by Erendelous 2018-08-14T12:01:57Z

Cool game and who don't like cookies. Think maybe the shrinking should smart slow and speed up the higher you go.

Stuck! by chkkll 2018-08-17T05:44:26Z

Nice concept, to much like real life, hehe :)

7:30 am by matzetoni 2018-08-14T13:47:33Z

This will be my life in 2 weeks when it school starts up again. Nice idea, would be nice if each day had a different path you could take or if you could push the smaller once around. After a few tried is also did what @steffo did.

LD44 — Your life is currency

Scrapitalism by quill18 2019-05-04T07:10:09Z

Nice, could use some balancing like any jam game hehe, enjoyed your sound effect and as always it was very fun and educational to watch your stream.

Overburnt by Ithildin 2019-05-04T07:45:27Z

Fun little management game, the hit box on the item could be bigger for more easy clicking, often I thought I was dragging but had missed the item. Would like to see more levels :) Nice job

Choice of Life by victorcrafty 2019-05-04T08:53:21Z

Cool concept, this is the best use of the theme I have seen so fare.

Bounty Hunted by DrRozza 2019-05-04T08:17:03Z

Simple to play hard to master fits this game quite well. Enjoyed the voice over and that your response when shoot the hat off hehe. This game would fit nice on mobile.. hint hint...

LD45 — Start with nothing

World Collector by Joe Williamson 2019-10-11T20:34:46Z

Amazing concept and the art is great. Would love to see more level. Great job

A Platfomer by ZenriS 2019-10-10T16:52:20Z

@kazatan and @nikita-demidov Sorry for the missing link, have added it now.

Programs like sfxr are allowed, that program generate sound effects, so would imaged it would be allowed for music generation to. Have used that site before and never had any complaints.

The Howler by Noa Calice 2019-10-11T20:52:13Z

No idea what this was, but I am sure I gonna have nightmare because of that great art hehe.

ØJE by Gaming Night 2019-10-11T11:00:49Z

Really like the graphics and the use of Ø hehe. Like how the world got more more color the more unlocks you found.

Nothing In The Way by JediNeeson 2019-10-11T11:39:02Z

Fun game, good puzzle game.

Hellion: The Legend of Jeff by Mad Brokli 2019-10-11T11:31:36Z

This game looks great, game plays nice also nice. I like the idea, but feel the prices are to steep. The game got very to repetitive. Maybe remove the activation cost of buildings, so they pay for them self quicker, also since the turret often seems to use more souls then they generate.

LD46 — Keep it alive

What the Firetruck!? by dvdfu 2020-05-01T15:10:59Z

Fun game, think I caused more fires then I put out hehe.

Farm Trouble by joewan 2020-05-07T15:31:30Z

Nice game, some how growing your own crops in games are always fun hehe.

The art looks good.

Didn't like the time bar that appeared when interaction with the crops, an animation that use that amount of time would felt better.

Keep the Spirit by pixelstuff 2020-05-03T08:25:39Z

Very pretty art, nice use of screen effect and particles, sadly then was very buggy for me, after the first level when I picked stuff up it alwasy picked up two items, and when I placed and placed both and caused me to die.

Keep It Alive by ZenriS 2020-04-20T18:44:48Z

@quichi Thanks for the feedback, glad you liked it. I never ran into the problem of bouncing against your own buildings, but agree that should not happen. To be honest I had planed on adding keyboard controls, but completely forgot it hehe. If I get time I added that and fix the bounce problem.

@aryanjumani Am sorry you are having problems, I tested the game in three different browser (Opera, Firefox, Chrome) both incognito and normal mode and everything seemed to work fine. What browsers are you using?

Keep It Alive by ZenriS 2020-04-20T19:06:36Z

@aryanjumani Ah good to hear, thanks for letting me know. Yea was hard finding a balance, it might need more work hehe.

Keep It Alive by ZenriS 2020-04-27T13:17:26Z

Thanks to everyone for playing and giving feedback, I am glad you had fun playing.

Keep It Alive by ZenriS 2020-05-03T07:48:46Z

Thanks everyone for playing, glad you enjoyed playing it.

@bitbrain sad to hear you had problems, if you have time could you let me know what browser you used? I tested the game on Firefox, Chrome and Opera. If you use any of those, do you mind trying it in private/incognito mode? And let me know how it went, ofc only if you have some spare time and still want to try the game.

Keep It Alive by ZenriS 2020-05-05T06:28:15Z

Thank everyone for playing and giving feedback. I'll get around to play your games today :)

@macdoom Thanks for letting me know, what browser did you use? If you still want to try the game give it a try in incognito/private mode on the browser, sometimes that helps with WebGL bugs.

Keep It Alive by ZenriS 2020-05-06T07:28:51Z

@macdoom Thanks for letting me know. I'll look into that bug and try find a fix.

Keep It Alive by ZenriS 2020-05-09T12:07:18Z

@nikadra Thanks for the nice feedback, I am glad you enjoyed the game :) Think both things you mention at the end are bugs. The laser are suppose to always hit the buildings, but just not the same spot all the time, the offset must be to big. Also the lasers getting reset, might be the result of the same lasers being triggering before it have shoot, but you are right it might be a nice difficulty boost to add.

Keep Boner Alive by rubyleehs 2020-05-03T18:32:43Z

haha, well it a game, like concept, but might gone a different direction with it hehe.

Keep It Aflame by Epono 2020-05-01T14:41:12Z

Fun game, good job. Would have liked to see different towers, more levels etc, but for a jam game it plays very well.

Hamorigami by bitbrain 2020-05-03T07:57:04Z

Nice game, liked the concept of they enemies, but you also need them and keeping that balance.

I had problems with not knowing why I died, I short description after you die would be nice. sometimes it seemed like I died because of no sun, but no sun had spawned, which made it even more confusing.

VampySitter by MacDoom 2020-05-05T10:28:36Z

Very nice art and funny animations. Found hard to understand in the beginning, but the figured it out after a couple of tries.

Feel maybe the camera should follow the mouse and not have separate controllers. Think that would feel more natural.

Feed The Beast by leorid 2020-05-07T16:01:16Z

Fun game, a lot of enemies and weapons. Very cool concept.

The guns for the must part sounded great and powerful, but think they need some camera shake, especially the later once.

For the most part the shoot was good, had fun spam shooting the shotgun, until I accidentally killed my pet hehe. If you going to have projectiles, then use those to detect hits, felt weird shooting and the enemy die before the projectile reached. Nice use if impact effect.

Was interesting that the more powerful weapons destroy the bodies, forcing you to use other weapons.

Good job.

do not go gently by nsadie 2020-05-03T08:36:44Z

Really liked the look of this game also like the card game approach.

Some of the UI didn't seem to work, the resource icons, I assumed they would show the resource amount, same for the hearth for the monster. But they didn't seem to show anything, tried clicking and hover over them but nothing.

do not go gently by nsadie 2020-05-03T11:46:13Z

@nsadie That helped, look at all that IU text hehe. Thanks :)

Chill Thrive by JDK2209 2020-05-05T10:21:44Z

Relaxing game, like the concept, like other has mentions I found the air button almost impossible to use. Even when the wind effect triggered it seemed to do nothing. Looking forward to try the game again when that is improved.

Didn't like that the "how to play" windows closed when you mouse your mouse of off. At first I thought it was timed, should just have a back button.

The art is simple, but effective, it looks very nice.

Magic Atoth by NiKaDra 2020-05-09T12:28:19Z

This is the best game I have played this Ludum Dare. I loved the sudden twist, I thought this was just another Tamagotchi game, boy was I wrong.

The art is work very well and the sound design is good.

I found the font hard to read in places, but that might just be me.

Very good job :)

KiTa by MKRaw 2020-05-02T08:36:47Z

Fun game, really liked the art style and mood of the game. Game music fit nicely, good choice. Think this might work good as a mobile game.

On the second level the "it" got launched super high in the air, and dropped very fast down, it might be just be me, but I found it very hard to get the color and move to right block especially since the blocks where moving. Maybe move that mechanic to a level where the blocks are still.

KiTa by MKRaw 2020-05-02T08:38:18Z

ah never mind, think that launch was a bug, since it says Hyper jump under bug hehe

The Last Dragon by Lisichka 2020-05-12T19:43:01Z

Liked the graphics, nice with some story in the beginning. Wish it was longer, but was fun trying to find those waffles pieces.

It played well, good job.

Keep a Plant by KDgame 2020-05-12T19:59:14Z

Nice art, fun game play. Liked the animation on the plant.

It seemed like the meteors sometimes hit the plant, even then they look far enough away, might need to tweak the colliders a bit.

Simple concept, but works well.

to Leave by 5imon 2020-05-02T09:11:21Z

At first I did not understand anything, it just sounded like random sounds, mainly since I randomly clicked all the platforms. After a few minutes I started to try and match up the beat of each music piece, I manged to get the axe, before I ended.

I really like the concept, but I am not very musical so found the game very hard. It might be a good idea to have your character indicate when you are on the right path, example having him start dancing or cover his ears if you got most right or wrong.

The art style is simple, but looks very nice and consistent, agree that your LD and itch.io page need more images to really show the game off.

Overjammed by Nachodlv 2020-05-03T08:10:41Z

Fun game, very nice art, I could use this person when I jam hehe. Liked that everyone had there own special thing.

Had a couple of bug, if you pick the blue (ball?) and then pick up a coffee or apple, the ball gets deleted and you can never get it back. Lucky this do not cause lose state, since the happy bar of the owner stops working, he also stop asking for stuff.

During the talking events you need to press the arrows twice, not sure if this is a bug or a design choice, but feels like ti should be only one press so it feels more responsive.

Last thing is not quite a bug, but thought I mentioned it anyways, you can move your character around with WASD, but you cannot to the talk events with it. I do not think about this as an bug since the game tells you to move with the arrows, but would be nice to do the talking with WASD as well.

Overall a fun game with, nice art, would like to see more levels with different layouts and object to get.

Soulectron by Bredian 2020-05-05T10:11:10Z

Good job, nice art. Solid game play, was a little hard to notice the down push effect symbol on the top, could maybe have had some particle or something coming down.

Spider's Food by 8BitCharlie 2020-05-09T07:59:55Z

Simple, yet fun.

Could used some music, sound effects and more level layout. But I enjoyed the game.

Terrarium Zen by Antarres 2020-05-09T07:53:36Z

Graphics looks good, a peaceful experiences.

Some sound effect when you water would be nice, at first I didn't think it did anything, didn't notice the humidity percentage at first.

Franky by HadB 2020-05-04T09:10:16Z

Nice game, looks nice. AI movement seems solid.

Think you need some keyboard button to let you select the abilities, it seemed like A and D did this, but it would only select the red one. The orange one got highlighted but only red ability seemed to work. If you want to keep it mouse only you should move the buttons, maybe center at the button and make them bigger. Then disable any keyboard inputs, so not confuse the players.

Since the game is played mostly with the mouse it feel strange that you have to use the keyboard to select the menu buttons, try to keep it consistent.

When changing levels it reset the selected ability to the orange one, it should keep what you had selected, I hit the peasants often since I assumed the red was still selected.

I wanted to see what happen if he got to the rabbit, but it seems impossible, even on a IQ of 1 he goes towards the village. Could be a nice bonus objective to try to keep him going toward the rabbit. Would incentive the player not to just spam click the slap on Frank.

Allowing the player to just spam click slap is bad, I just spammed clicked a couple of time each level and never had a problem of IQ running out. Could maybe have it so it you slap him to much in a row he falls over or passes out or something and then loses a lot of IQ.

This is a good game for a first game jam, a lot better then my first one hehe :)

Message by NoamRaz 2020-05-01T14:02:00Z

Like the mood and art style.

Found it hard to control, the main problem where that the character kept moving after I let go of the button, so sometime I would walk of the platform. The camera also felt to close, which made it hard to see what was coming next, died a few time on the last jump size I could not see the enemy. If having the camera that close is needed to keep the felling of the game, you might want to make it so the camera always are a little ahead of the character.

Turbo by Abhilash 2020-05-07T15:16:14Z

I like the concept of the game, the mood of the game is good.

Felt there was very little game, just press arrow up and hope for the best, didn't feel like I had any control over the speed.

Several time I overshoot by way to much and the game got stuck on a black screen. A restart button would have been nice.

This might be just me, but having an installer felt completely unnecessary. It is a normal Unity build, just zip it. Don't force your testers to run an installer then have to uninstall after. In the future I would advise you to zip it to a normal .zip file. Maybe even look into how to make WebGL builds.

With some more work and more interesting level design, it will be a nice game.

Loading... by AlexAuragan 2020-05-03T08:57:02Z

Cool game, very responsive and well made controls. The art is very nice, some more variation of the enemies might been nice.

It seems stuff spawns around the player, which when having an endless play areas is a good idea, but it makes it so just a little to easy. You can just go one way and often get 2-4 collectable before any enemy spawns. If you are going to work more on this game I think you should look into ways of limiting the play area to force the player into areas where enemies actually are.

Carpe Diem by Jojo The Clown 2020-05-12T19:54:31Z

Like games like this, but controls felt floaty, I hit colliders even when it look clear, was very hard to test since I had to reload the page every time. A auto restart or restart button is a must for games like this.

Tile Rider! by VernalBehemoth 2020-05-06T10:03:51Z

Game looks great, like the concept. There should be more feedback when you actually hit an enemy. I didn't notice the hit text, so I felt like I was missing all the time. A color tint or animation to the enemy would be all.

Was fun finding the huge cow hehe, the other animals also looks good.

For collection the berries, it seems like you can only pick up one of each type, so I would suggest to turn of the particle effect on those you already picked up, or a info text saying "You already got that" or something.

I found all the 4 berry types and some treasure but nothing happens when I got home. Maybe that just where this version ends, but would have been nice with a game over screen or something.

Overall the game seem to have a lot of potential, with a few improvements and tweaks.

Keep It Charged by LaZZyDev72 2020-05-06T16:29:59Z

Nice puzzle game, the art was nice and simple.

Didn't like the constant camera sway and film grain. It would have been interesting if the film grain got worst the less power you had.

Like that you had the instruction on the wall. Might want to add a win sound effect, it should feel good completing a level. Nice use of camera shake when you hit something, its small but works well.

God job on the game.

"Life-Saver" Bot by Saleh ElHalaby 2020-05-07T14:59:18Z

Kinda like the art, but some of it could use more work.

The games or LD/itch.io page does not inform the player about all the controls. I had no idea I could shoot, until I accidentally click while I was dead. The gun feels good, nice use if cam shake.

Two of the levels felt broken, there was jumps that seemed impossible, not sure if there is suppose to be a double jump or something, but could not find away through them.

There is no UI for health, so hard to keep track of your lives, would also be nice to use the screen shake when you take damage.

I assume the hearth power up gives more life, but have no idea what the other one does.

Agree with ArtemFTW, with some more work and polish it could be nice game.

Go Home! by acjh13 2020-05-12T19:48:08Z

Was fun running around yelling at people hehe, would been nice with a nice yell sound effect.

Game has a simple concept, and works well.

AetherPath by quichi 2020-05-03T08:49:33Z

Like this game, I would play it more, but there a few problems.

When ships are over other object sometime you cannot click the ship and other time you cannot click the object. The game also need some feedback when you click buttons, a sound or just a tint of the button. It feel like nothing happens. Might also be good idea to have a windows with all your ships, so you can quickly click on them an pan to them. Would make it easier to keep track.

Am not a big fan of the art style, but it works well enough.

Finterior Decorator by illuminegames 2020-05-06T15:12:33Z

Very good game, wish there was more to it hehe. Good art and animations. Was relaxing and fun placing stuff.

Only problem I had was when placing stuff I could smack the fish around and out of the tank, but lucky they came back hehe.
